It has begun! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

I have been checking the wifes phone every morning for the last month. Looks like the Marshmallow update is about 1.3 gigs. I have no idea if it will be bug free, but I imagine it will be stable. Now, for those reading this, that are confused and on a stock ROM, go to settings, about device, and then software update.

It's working great so far..

Yes, both our S6 edge plus and the Note 5 received Marshmallow today from T-Mobile!!

I don't think I will take the update until I know we can still root and a custom recovery.

No need to bother with kernels it's not needed to ROOT MM 6.0!!!
1: odin flash twrp-3.0.2-0-zeroltetmo.img.tar, flash this after doing
the OTA Tmobile update of the mm 6.0 .
2: then in twrp recovery flash this supersu-v2.71-systemmode.zip.
If you do do it right, you will have no rooting issues.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

You are going to need to Odin the T-mobile stock firmware, which you can find on MinisterJunky's post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...rmware-g928t-complete-untouched-boh6-t3198387
After that, you just need to run software update from the settings and you should be good to go. I would highly recommend doing a factory reset after you ODIN the stock 5.1 firmware before updating to 6.01.

Need help...I odined back to 5.1.1 and factory reset after....Then updated MM of phone...Then made Sure OEM unlocked, rebooted into download and odin flashed TWRP 3.0.2 and it say PASS and when i reboot into recovery it reboots into stock recovery!!! I have tried a few times in odin and does the same thing, i reboot into stock recovery everytime

So for some reason I am having the same problem trying to get this rooted.
I have made sure the OEM unock is enabled in develper settings
I boot into download mode, and I uncheck reset in options
I ODIN flash twrp-3.0.2-0-zeroltetmo.img.tar
I power off the phone, then I try to boot into recovery, the phone will show recovery is not enforcing (or whatever it says in red), then the screen just turns black.
Then I will reboot the phone again and it will remove the custom recovery.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

finally we got him.marshmallow update on s6 edge+ t mobile.now for customs rom?

Probably, it is better to wait for stock firmware and do it through the Odin. Ehh..

To anyone having probs. rooting the new DPD1 Marshmallow update, follow the guide HERE. Looks like dirtybudha has compiled everything in one post. Hit the thanks buttons!!!!!! It works perfect for both devices.

This doesn't work
Hi,
I tried the following steps. After stock recovery, under download menu, I see everything as Official. When I try to reboot under recovery. I only see a blank black screen. So this doesn't work.

This didn't work for me! Neither did it change the custom status of binary, nor did it allow me to update firmware!

This method didn't work for me, too. I flashed custom modem before. Is it problem?

Yes I flashed the stock kernel and then stock recovery. It just gave me a blank screen with the recovery menu.
I got mine to stock and official status by flashing stock recovery only, and I am still rooted although the system status is official and get OTA updates normally
The only and sure way of restoring back to stock, removing root, changing the device status back to Official and to reset the binary counter is to download and flash official firmwares manually via Odin. I've done it myself and this is the only known way so far of reverting everything back to stock, even without wipe

If you download the official ROM from Samsung you don't need to do anything before flashing it. Just enter download mode and flash the Samsung ROM in ODIN. The official ROMs have the stock recovery, stock kernel, and stock ROM all in one package. I can also confirm that this resets your binary counter and you status changes to "Official" both in download mode and in "Phone Info".

Yes, they are none wipe. But some people can't get official status until after they wipe the user data and cache in stock recovery.

S6e+ G928W8 (Canadian variant) DEODEXED ROOTED AND XPOSED ROM

Hello,
Here is an UPDATE this is a FULL S6e+ Canadian Variant Rom
First of All at this point you know that your phone should be rooted + you need a moded kernel or you will be stuck in a boot-loop ( you will find it in S6e+ international Thread )and this means BYE-BYE WARRANTY
Second do not forget to Backup in TWRP / CWM
The most important is: I'M not responsible if your phone went crazy
Now that you agreed for the 3 Warnings:
Download the ROM in your SD
Reboot in your TWRP / CWM recovery
Flash it
Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik/ART Cache
Reboot wait and wait maybe one more time wait (android will finish doing his Job) et Voilà.
What is in this ROM
A FULL ROM WITH ALL THE CSC CANADIAN
Volume is boosted
Native Call Recorder is Enabled
2nd Keyboard Symbol Enabled ( for eng_US and fr_CA )
Rooted
Xposed
Deodexed
As from my Side everything is working well . BUT STILL SO IMPORTANT DO A BACKUP AS WE DON'T HAVE YET A STOCK FIRMWARE.
When you Flash it you will have Rogers CSC . if you want another Canadian Carrier CSC,
once you phone is booted go to the dialer and type *#272*IMEI# its gonna prompt the Canadian CSC select the needed one click on install, the Phone will reboot Reset and install the selected CSC.

Do you know where we can download the Canadian version of stock firmware? My phone has turned out to be a brick because of the FRP lock (so stupid that forgot OEM unlock before factory reset the device), seems like I will have to use the stock firmware to make it work again... Use the old Xposed Installer v2.6.1 with TW 4.4.4, and you can directly install the xposed framework within the app.
Just a heads-up for anyone having trouble flashing any of these. I tried several times and re-downloaded the modem and the full firmware. They failed multiple times in multiple versions of odin(for me). I gave up on the modem but kept working on the full and it finally took but I was stuck at t-mo boot screen more than once and it wouldn't fully boot. Finally I flashed the newest twrp before taking any other measures and it finally booted.

In case it gets stuck at T-Mobile boot screen after successful firmware flash, just hold the power button till your device turns off,
Then go into stock recovery by using power+home+volume up button and do a factory reset.
It should boot fine.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to list that I did that also. For me at least this S4 was very stubborn to take on this flash. I was mostly posting so if anyone else ran into this so they wouldn't panic. All is well now though. It came around eventually.:good:
I searched this out because I'm looking for a Stagefright fix for the S4 (my wife's phone). It looks like the other ROMs were last updated prior to Stagefright, so I expect they are not fixed. However, I'm OK with stock as long as it is rooted.
Are there any issues with rooting? I read in this article that T-Mobile put a SetUID restriction on the kernel and the normal process for TWRP and SuperSU doesn't work.
The author was writing about the UVUAMDL firmware, and offers a link to download a patched MDL kernel with the restriction removed.
Since this thread is about the UVUFOK3 (a later version), it seems likely that the SetUID restriction still exists. However the article also says "MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON UVUAMDL build OTHERWISE THIS KERNEL WILL BREAK THINGS IN YOUR PHONE!" So does that mean "UVUAMDL only - nothing newer or later" or "UVUAMDL or later"? No way to know since the article has not been updated since UVUAMDL.
Has any one successfully rooted the S4 after installing this firmware? (M919UVUFOK3_M919TMBFOK3_TMB)
Is the kernel provided in M919UVUFOK3_Stock_Kernel.zip already "fixed" to remove the root restriction?

However the article also says "MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON UVUAMDL build OTHERWISE THIS KERNEL WILL BREAK THINGS IN YOUR PHONE!" I don't know about the restriction you talking about but I have successfully flashed a custom ROM on latest OK3 firmware.

Nothing is modified as it is a stock package, stock kernel is only required if you flash some custom kernel and wanted to go back to stock by just installing the kernel instead of full ODIN.
This is what I always use to root:
1) Install latest TWRP via ODIN
2) Boot into recovery
3) Flash latest SuperSU zip using TWRP.

So it should be a fairly straightforward process? The issues technut experienced are unusual? Has anyone else installed and rooted using this ROM? Please report on how it went.

a103, when you say "flashed a custom ROM", do you mean a different ROM than the one in the OP of this thread? (since this one isn't really custom) If a different ROM, which did you flash? I didn't find many options that contained the OK3 firmware.

The phone currently is running Wicked V8 custom ROM, so I think I need to flash everything. What are the steps for updating all three; firmware, kernel, and modem? Is there a particular order to flash them in Odin?
I read in another place that the firmware contains the Modem so I wouldn't need to flash the modem in addition to the full firmware (M919UVUFOK3_M919TMBFOK3_TMB.zip). Is that true in this case? Does it include both modem and kernel?
Edit - After searching out how to open tar.md5 files I can now see that the full firmware does include the kernel and modem files. So installing that one should sufficient to update everything.

Just flash the firmware, it has the kernel and modem in it.

a103, did you have any of the problems reported by technut above? Was it a smooth process of flashing?
Here's what I think has been said:
0) Before starting - copy UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip, Titanium Backup APK, and Titanium Backup data onto ExtSD card.
1) start phone into download mode, Use ODIN to flash M919UVUFOK3_M919TMBFOK3_M919UVUFOK3_HOME.tar.md5
2) restart into stock, let it stabilize.
If any problems or stuck on Tmo screen, restart into stock recovery and do factory reset
3) once booted into stock FW, power off.
4) restart into download mode, use Odin to flash openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-jfltetmo.tar
5) boot into TWRP
6) install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
7) reboot into Android - phone is now rooted again and ready to go.
8) restore user apps (not system apps or data) from TiBu, restore TiBu XML data for SMS and call logs, etc.

Thanks for this thread. I have MM stock, but the hotspot now requires a reboot to get it working. Can I use this method to flash back to Lollipop? I saw a thread saying you cannot flash anything older than 5.1.1. That was an older thread, and basically he was told he can't flash 5.0.2 back on his S6 because he already had 5.1.1.

Well, I flashed my stock Note 5 rom over to the MM leak and now I'm stuck with it till the official release is out and I can flash back to stock and receive the latest official updates as they come out.
What happened was I wiped the drive and then flashed the lower # official roms and all it did was bootloop or just wouldn't flash the version at all and would just give me an error while trying to flash.

my phone stiil blocked on recovery mode after mm 8.0 download with dm-verity verification failed. Chek drk first i can try this ?
I flashed backed to 5.1.1, I left my phone sitting with wifi enabled, sprint downloaded the 6.0.1 update and gave me no choice but to install it again. I had no way to back out of it. I put 5.1.1 on my phone twice today and it keeps sending me to MM. Is there a way to flash back to 5.1.1 and disable OTA without rooting the phone..? if not then you really can't go back because Sprint will force the update to your phone.
i guess there should be an option in setting/update for you to uncheck the "update".

The DRK error means that someone changed your phone's IMEI but did it improperly. Now the phone will not even turn on past the Samsung screen. I run phone a business and offer a service to fix it - PM me if interested

wait a minute... you can roll back a stock unrooted rom without having to root??
I need tether. I have to have tether. They forced the Marshmallow update without my permission. Complete BS. Now I have no tether.

Rolling back is as simple as using ODIN and flash the stock rom, I rooted 6.0.1 and its starting to grow on me but I can flash back to stock 5.1.1 even if I was not rooted, I only root because like you I need tether and so far this was the only way on 6.0.1 MM
Man oh man, I thought I broke my charging port the day after I rooted. I was about to cry myself to sleep for the next 2 months.
Going to MM
Should I use this to go back to stock and then take the OTA to get to the latest firmware? Or would it be a better idea to download the current firmware from Sammobile?

I can't say if it actually works as I live in the US and my phone is not unlocked, but it seems to have helped others.
Here a link for the latest stock TAR files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862
Tried to use this file and it says "SW REV CHECK FAIL. DEVICE 4 BINARY 3"

This is a very old thread. That error means that your phone has updated to a software version of 6 or 7 and you can't revert back to 5.

More accurately, it means that your bootloader version is 4, and you can't flash anything lower.
But no, you can't go back to Android 5

Minor update out (PB6 -> PD2)

Just got a small system update on my Sprint S6. Think it was like 29MB. Includes the April 2, 2016 security update. Not much else I can see.
Thanks for posting this. I will keep an eye out for any updated TAR on SAMMOBILE; if there is one I'll copy to Android File Host and post here.
I keep hoping for the apn edit to come back to ##data# section. But its not there

Unfortunately, you can't install a OTA via twrp you must wait for the official TAR to come out
Should have been more specific. I used Odin to go back to stock then took the update. Then used the recovery tar to get recovery and it didn't work
