4-file SGH-I747UCUFNE4_v4.4.2_ATT_ALL Odin-flashable - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Haven't ever seen it posted here, but there's a real 4-file SGH-I747UCUFNE4_v4.4.2_ATT_ALL Odin-flashable rom floating around.
First saw the link here - http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=372347&view=findpost&p=40681860. But there are more links available, just google for "SGH-I747UCUFNE4_v4.4.2_ATT_ALL"
I tried flashing the linked file set (the 16GB variety), and it worked fine with repartitioning and bootloader update. Have to mention that I flashed it over the later NJ2 bootloader - nothing bricked, and I'm now on an older NE4 bootloader, all-official rom.
But I might be just lucky, there's no guarantee you don't brick...

I am currently on NE4. Can I use this file or files to odin the stock NE4 firmware and avoid a factory data reset via stock recovery? How did you downgrade your bootloader without bricking? You're not supposed to be able to do that with the NJ2 bootloader.

Confirmed working on I747 as OP stated! Yes, I was on NJ2 firmware as well. I would never have tried these files normally as I am the "Skeptic". First I would like to thank the OP for telling us of these files existence.
Now for the story/drama...
Device working well with TouchWiz and CM 12.1, 13 Roms, UNTIL I flashed a custom splash screen I was using on CM 13 to a TouchWiz rom. Begin drama...
Yeah I know, don't say it! Well the NEW vibrating, rebooting device sure was nice to play with for about ten Seconds!
Okay, reflash backups right? Just boot into recovery. No Twrp recovery booted.
Next, Try Odin to flash recovery. Nope, no go with Twrp or stock NJ2 tar I made.
So I remember reading this post earlier this year and decided why Not? Already messed up. Now I did download these files from an alternate site and the one linked in the OP to compare. Other than uploaded compression methods, files are the same.
Okay, fire up Odin 3.09, my preference only, and go into download mode and begin.
Now I am expecting this not to work because of firmware differences, well.. PASS!
Phone reboots and setup successful. Wow! NE4 Firmware and Official.
(Used TriangleAway v3.26 previously) Two OTA'S later, stock NJ2 again!

Did I read that right that you made an odin .tar for Nj1? If so can you please send me that or hit me with a link to download it? I have been looking all over for one. Also, can I use the files above from your google drive to odin back to stock NE4?

No, I simply made a NJ2 Odin flashable recovery tar file.
I have used these files to downgrade from NJ2 to NE4 successfully.
I then check for software updates, first you get NJ1, after update reboot check for software updates again and prompt for NJ2 appears.
A search on the Internet for NJ1 firmware brings me to pay sites, Legit? don't know.
Example: http://www.samsung-file.com/index.php?dir=/Samsung_Official_firmwares_(4_Files)/Model_I/I747_%28SGH-I747%29

Oh okay, darn. Do you know where I can get a NJ1 or NJ2 odin tar? I want to upgrade to NJx from NE4 without having to unroot and unfreeze apps to take the OTA or trip my warranty bit by installing TWRP recovery. I have read that towel root, kingo root, and king root doesn't work on NJx.

KingRoot will root NJ2. I then used Super-SuMe Pro on the play store to install Supersu instead of KingRoot. I have used FlashFire to then install zips and mods. In regards to the warranty bit (Knox) I can't personally speak because mine has been tripped due to custom recovery. I'll test some of enewman17's zips in FlashFire to test rooted upgrades from NE4.

Oh so King root does root nj2, ok didn't know that. I always thought it didn't. Did you use the PC version of king root or the phone app version? Do I have to have a custom recovery to use flash fire? I'm trying to find a way to upgrade to nj2 without having to unroot/lose root and without installing a custom recovery that would trip my warranty bit.

This should be stickied! Sticky icky icky While I hope I never need this I'm going to grab it while it's available for DL. This is a game changer for this device for sure!

Quick question, I Odin all 4 of these in that order?

Mobile app version.
Don't need a custom recovery to use FlashFire.
*WARNING*
CURRENT VERSIONS OF FLASHFIRE ARE NOT WORKING AS EXPECTED!
I AM TESTING WHICH VERSIONS IT WORKED WITH...
I am also testing other apps. I'll report back soon...

You're awesome chuckles thanks! Keep us posted.

Good question. I am guessing you do them in order, but not 100% sure on it. All this is kind of new to me, I'm from the galaxy S2 days where downgrading firmware didn't matter to Samsung.

Yea me too but started with droid
X, then sgs3 and still learning. Thanks

Everyone give me a few minutes and I'll post the Odin screenshot.

I hear ya man. I got my sgs3 only 2 years ago, so I am still figuring it out. Had my galaxy s2 for 4 years and modded/hacked the crap out of it because knox didn't exist on the hardware side.

Testing has also shown these files also Un-Brick this device after a failed (Downgrade from NE4 or higher) MJB firmware or MJB ODIN flash. Yeah, MJB Jelly Bean firmware and or tar files will leave you with a nasty 'YOUR SCREWED CONNECT TO KIES" type message (Download Mode), which are device can't do anymore (Bootloader - NE4 or higher).
---------- Post added at 07:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:36 PM ----------
Tried that... so, SIMILAR to are AT&T S4 and S5 locked bootloader counterparts, you CAN downgrade/upgrade firmware from within a current version. (Example: S3 - KitKat 4.4.2 (NJ2 TO NJ1 TO NE4 or NE4 TO NJ1 TO NJ2). So, if your bootloader is BELOW NE4, you CAN'T DOWNGRADE!
---------- Post added at 08:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:47 PM ----------
Testing: Okay, now I haven't mixed bootloader/modem combinations, I have only flashed firmware packages within the same build.

Is it even possible to mix bootloaders and modems on the galaxy s3?

hi everyone.
a newbie this side don't know much about flashing.
i was using my S3 which is i747 AT&T while playing a game phone went off and is not turning on.
local repairman says sometimes it is detected in odin somitime not and he says without flashing there is no option and he cant flash because it disappears from odin.
i tried to press home power and volume key ( both up and down one by one) but nothing happens, but sometimes when i insert the battery camera light flashes for a fraction of second then total no response.

If that doesn't help you , you will need a JTAG repair.

How to root May 7th OTA [ Version M919UVUAMDL ]:
You can grab Kies for its drivers here.
Put this on your sdcard before anything, doesn't matter which.
k0nane's thread on How to use Odin (3.07). Read this thread for further help, your question is most likely answered already.
Install CWM, TWRP, or OUDHS Custom Recovery through Download mode. [Follow instructions in thread on how to flash them, I recommend OUDHS as that's what I used.]
Extra words from k0nane for successfully flashing a Custom Recovery in Odin 3.07 for the MDL firmware:
Uncheck auto-reboot, pull the battery once it's flashed, and try to boot from there. If it works, recovery-from-boot.p or install-recovery.sh aren't getting deleted/are still present.

Boot into the Custom Recovery of your choice. [Power + Volume Up keys when phone is completely turned off and unplugged.]
Flash ROOT_M919UVUAMDL.zip [Contains the older boot.img with new modules, root, and will stop the annoying "Modified: Reboot Now or Later?" notification from happening.]
Reboot and enjoy your rooted device on the M919UVUAMDL firmware.
You can flash back to the May 7th OTA boot.img using the entire firmware, or you can flash it in a zip.
***Update - You can now flash a source-compiled TouchWiz kernel that may better fit your needs here. It is compiled off of the MDL defconfig instead of MDB, but using MDB source.
Thanks to Dev ptmr3 for the original boot.img flasher for Custom Recovery.
Thanks to Dev k0nane for assistance through OUDHS IRC and providing some tech-support to forum readers, as well as the great Odin guide.
Thanks to Gadianton for finding information on stopping the Modified notification.
Thanks for the tutorial and links. Very much appreciated!

Fair enuff, "their" files aren't working
I don't know how to install an .img file from the CWM page, so I'm a little dead in the H20 until the ODIN method works. Unless you have a link for how to install the .img, I've Googled and can't find a reliable tutorial.

Here you go, before and after hitting start. Note that my phone is in download mode during this process. ODIN is run as administrator, and gives pass/success after reboot. I've done this in 3.07 and 1.85 with the same result.
I had the same problem as everyone else did at first with the recovery installs not sticking. I read in a different thread somewhere (can't seem to find it at the moment) that installing Samsung Kies would also install the correct drivers which would fix this problem and it worked for me, maybe it'll work for you guys.
Just install that, then follow the instructions again. I tried it with OUDHS and it worked after that.
EDIT: Won't let me post links since I just registered, but basically just google Samsung Kies and it'll be the first one.

[ROM][ODIN] SPH-L710 MK5 (MK5 Modem/Kernel/Bootloader/ROM - Full Restore - Unrooted)

First, a HUGE thanks goes @garwynn for helping run the site and building all these one-clicks! Second, thanks to @jdsingle76 for posting the original TAR this was based off of, available here.
This Odin One-Click.exe contains the Stock MK5 Bootloader, Kernel, Modem and ROM for the Boost/Virgin Samsung Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710RWBBST). Yes, that means this comes with the full Knox Bootloader.
There has been no change to the ROM from the initial build released by Samsung.
This will NOT trigger the Yellow Triangle NOR will it increment the Odin flash count.
This one-click resets your whole phone to the stock MK5 experience, similar to a factory restore and it will wipe all data. It also contains the full bootloader and Knox.
Instructions:
1: Backup anything important and Disable any PINs.
During this process your phone's software will be returned to the Stock setup. All system data will be lost. To be safe, it is best to archive your backup off your phone, ie on your PC or Dropbox.
2: Install Samsung USB/Android drivers (if necessary).
Samsung Drivers Download Link
3: Download the MK5 Stock ROM One-Click.
SPH-L710RWBBST_MK5_Full Restore_UNROOTED (Compressed Archive).exe (Resets user data)
4: Unzip One-Click ROM using 7zip (this package is a self-extracting exe you should just be able to double-click on it after download and it will do the rest).
5: Start the Odin One-Click.
Navigate to the location where the SPH-L710RWBBST_MK5_Full Restore_UNROOTED.exe was saved upon extract from the 7Zip archive.
Double-click on SPH-L710RWBBST_MK5_Full Restore_UNROOTED.exe. *On Vista or newer, you may need to right-click on the file and Run as Administrator.
6: Place phone in Download Mode.
- Power phone completely off.
- Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons, all at the same time.
- Release the buttons only when the ‘Warning!!’ message appears.
- Press [Volume Up] to enter Download mode.
7: Connect USB cable to PC and phone.
Odin should show a yellow COM port in the second column. If you do not see a yellow COM port, you may need to run the Odin One-Click as Administrator and/or unplug/plugin the USB cable after starting Odin One-Click.
8: Start Odin flash process.
Press [Start].
9: Complete - PASS!
Status should change to green PASS! At this point your phone should automatically reboot.
Android Instructions:
Download and install ZArchiver on your phone. Use it to unpack the Odin One-Click 7zip self-extracting exe file (long press on the 7zip exe. Select "Open As Archive". Select the One-Click.exe and then select Extract). Use Mobile Odin to Open File the SPH-L710RWBBST_MK5_Full Restore_UNROOTED.exe. FYI - Modem will not flash with Mobile Odin.
The boot process will take slightly longer than usual during which time you'll see the Boost/Virgin 4G logo screen.
Congratulations! You've flashed the Factory Restore MK5 build!

Good stuff man...glad to see you back to work I know this goes without saying, but if anyone on Sprint/Boost/VM has already flashed the ND8 4.4.2 update, they CAN NOT flash this one-click, since that would be downgrading bootloaders, which equals BRICK!!! I flashed Stock Rom NJ2 since I lost my MEID and restore it back but since then I have not able to flash other Stock Rom.
The reason I'm trying other stock roms because my phone is always roaming. I would like to try with other modems.
I tried to flash modem but my baseband became unknown.
I think my phone also have other problems, see links

If you already flashed nj2 tar, with bootloader and all, this will hard brick your phone.

No you will not be able to recover. A hard brick is not recoverable. A soft brick (or sponge) is usually recoverable. But flashing any firmware from before nd8 (once you've updated to nd8 or later) will result in a hard brick and your phone will be a paperweight. Modems too, do not flash any modems from before nd8 (like mk5) or it will be over.

Have you tried to Odin flash the nd8 or nj2 firmware .tar? That's usually the best option.

Yes, I'm using NK2 now via WiFi. But the 3g is super slow and hardly get 4glte. Even if i get 4gLte, the speed is slower than 3g. That is the problem.

Is it just in one location? Sometimes they are working on towers in the area which can cause problems. Have you done a clean Odin flash with a factory reset? If yes then I'm not sure what else you can do. The .tar has everything in it. Flashing around older modems isn't going to help. What started the problem?

The problem started when one morning I woke up and I lost singnal, MEID. My MEID was 00000000000. My baseband was also unknow. Then I fixed my MEID it by going to the Full restore (Older version) with DFS QPST QXDM.. I got my MEID Back and my service back. but another problem with full restore was, the phone asked to insert sim card. Since I could not find any solution then I Odin NJ2 tar. Since then I have signal but I get 1xRTT all the time. 3G super slow and hardly get 4GLTE. Even when I get 4GLTE, it is not working.
@madbat99 I saw this flashable modem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787677 Will this work if I flash NJ2 already?
I really think the problem is the modem.
Thank you so much for responding. I posted on Q&A and no one has responding.
I know this thread is old, but I could not get the 'one-click' odin file to run for me. So, I extracted all of the individual files, wrapped them in a tar-ball, and created a tar.md5 that can be flashed using odin. This is confirmed working as I am currently running it now.
I want to upload it to the community, but I do not think xda would accept a 897mb zip file attachment. if anyone wants it I do have it and am looking for hosting sites.
***edit***
I am hosting the file on my private server. this is the link.
Just so I'm clear... if the Boost Mobile S3 I have is on ND8, NJ2 or NK2 (which I never heard about) ... I should not use any of these MK5 Restore ROMs?
I made a mistake in buying this phone thinking any S3 could be used with the Ting service. Found out that neither the Boost nor the Virgin Mobile phones can be used due to some contractual thing between Sprint and Ting. Basically since Sprint owns parts of Boost and Virgin Mobile... it's against their interest to allow those phones to be used with another Pre-Paided Provider.
At any rate, I am trying to revert this phone back to Stock regardless of the radio version. I don't care what the resulting radio is. I just need to revert it to Stock so I can toss it up on eBay and get rid of it. Is there a Stock Restore ROM for ND8, NJ2, and NK2? If yes... anyone have a link? If not... is there a way to revert the Nxx version back to the MK5 version in order to apply the MK5 ROM in this thread?
All help appreciated.

[Q] SGH-I747 Update Issues to 4.4.2

I'm trying to help out a friend and update his Galaxy S3 SGH-I747. He originally had cyanogenmod installed but he restored his phone back to stock and flashed a stock recovery back to the phone. When he tries to do an OTA updated it downloads but fails to install? His current android version is 4.1.1 but his baseband is I747UCUFNE4 which if im not mistaken is for android 4.4.2 what would be the easiest way to get his phone updated to the stock 4.4.2 software?

Thanks, I had found the last link (....2789917) by doing a Google search (i.e., searching within the forum was less successful).
Hey bmoliver and BWolf56,
I am in the same boat as your friend where my baseband (bootloader) version is I747UCUFNE4 but the software version is stuck at 4.1.1. AT&T is identifying a OTA update, downloading but the update is failing.
I tried the method described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789917. But when I am trying to flash MJB bootloader, it is failing. I read elsewhere in this forum that downgrading from UCU to MJB is not really advisable.
I am stuck in 4.1.1 and my phone is half functional at the moment with the camera, nfc, bluetooth not functional :crying:.
Was your friend able to get this resolved bmoliver?
I tried searching for a I747UCUFNE4 md5 file that I can flash using odin (just a hope that it might work) but could not find.
It would be great if one of you can point me to it.
PS: I am a complete newbie to this entire thing and so far from what I read, my phone is probably soft-bricked and am hoping that someone would guide and help me get out of this.
EDIT: One more thing that I observed is when I am trying flash something in the download mode, I get the error and "sw rev check fail fused 3 binary 0" and it fails
Thanks,
CJ

You don't want to downgrade bootloaders, that will brick your phone.
You'll have to flash NE4 with Odin (or a NE4 custom ROM through custom recovery) to get your baseband and software matching.
The thread you linked should work if you follow it to a T. If something doesn't work, let us know and be specific about what happened.
Thanks for the info BWolf56,
Sorry for asking a trivial question (just getting accustomed to the lingo used here) .
When you say I should follow it to a T, are you just referring to follow all the steps.
I tried two things
1. follow each step, but failed at step 3 since I was trying to downgrade my bootloader.
2. I jumped from step 2 to step 6 and tried to flash 4.4.2OTA.zip in recovery mode but that also failed. I dont remember the exact error I got, I can try it again to give you more details if you think it is safe.
Thanks

If you jumped to #6, you didn't flash a custom recovery, which you need to flash the OTA.
I did install TWRP 2.6.3.1 which I am guessing is the custom recovery (as part of step 2) and then I tried to flash the OTA. Am I missing something here?

Sounds like you'll have to use Odin to flash Stock.
Your build.prop is most likely borked (or has been changed to something it's not). d2u is not a variant of the S3, nor does it exist.
Thanks a ton for helping me identify the problem.
I just have to look if a stock file to flash using odin is out there somewhere.
I will post in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789917 to see if enewman17 or someone from the community have a tar or md5 file that I can use.
I will try that and update on how it goes.

You can grab the stock ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33570269#post33570269
Just make sure you grab the right version.

I could not find the stock firmware for NE4 though.
They only have MJ2, LK3, LG1, LEM versions, no MJB either.

There isn't a NE4 stock for Odin. I just noticed the post hasn't been updated in a while.
I though I could find it on Sammobile.com but they have LK3 as their latest too.
Since you somehow have the 4.4.2 modem, you can not flash anything older than the 4.4.2 firmware. Currently there is nothing that you can flash to fix this. Normally, I would say to flash an older modem, but if Odin is seeing it as already updated to 4.4.2 (SWREV 3), and the only thing you have that is 4.4.2 is the modem, flashing anything older will likely hard brick.
You need either the full stock firmware, which there is not one, Thanks AT&T!, or a recovery flashable firmware for 4.4.2. Enewman17 has this, but it will not work for you because of how the modem is flashed. For some reason, he has it patching the 4.3 modem rather than including the full updated one like with the other partitions. If someone makes the same thing, but with the already updated modem, you could probably flash that. No guarantees though. Running 4.1.1 firmware/bootloaders with a 4.4.2 modem is a scenario which is highly unpredictable, so anything you try to flash might cause more problems, we just don't know.
I've PM'd enewman17 to ask if there was a specific reason he updated the modem the way he did. If there is not an issue doing it like i mentioned someone can try to make a new package like that for you to try.
Thanks Doc!
Hopefully enewman17 can come up with a solution for this.
Just an information which I was not able to completely comprehend but maybe pros like you or Bwolf56 will be able to.
I opened Kies and this is what it says.
Firmware information
This is the latest firmware.
Current firmware version: PDA:LK3 / PHONE:NE4 / CSC:LK3 (ATT)
Any thoughts on how do I get the PDA and CSC updated (not even sure what exactly they are)
Thanks

Ok, enewman17 just put this together if you want to try it. This includes the full NE4 stock firmware minus system, kernel, cache and recovery.
So flashing it will preserve your current Rom, kernel and recovery, but will otherwise fully update your base firmware/bootloaders to NE4.
This should be perfectly safe to use, but seeing as it is untested, I cannot make any guarantees that it won't make things worse. (I wouldn't post it if I thought it would, but there is always the possibility)
Flash from custom recovery such as TWRP.

Youll need a pc. And since you already tripped the security blanket, flash the firmware from the firmware link and youll have zero problems.
I added an Odin 3.09 link to the thread for you.
Instructions
Download firmware
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Run the exe in Odin v3.09 folder
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
And youll be good to go. If you want to flash the stock rooted knoxless deodex'd rom, just install twrp/cwr/philz, flash it, reboot directly to recovery and flash the rom and youre set

The permissive kernel is to be flashed with twrp/cwr. Or I could actually put it in a tar to flash with odin later
Anybody else having data issues with the FNI3 modem? I did a factory reset, flashed the full firmware using Odin 3.09, rooted with cf auto root, and reinstalled twrp. After that, I set up all my apps again. But now with the FNI3 modem, I can't keep a stable LTE connection; it keeps dropping to really slow 4G. I had to flash back the T-Mobile NH7 modem I was using before to get a solid connection again.

Any idea why xposed won't install?
It worked on a clean stock install via Odin but no longer works after flashing rom

Here is what I did since I needed to update my bootloader anyway
Download stock firmware and the modem/non-hilos combo and also the twrp odin flashable file and Odin
Put them on your pc in an easy to find place
Put phone in download mode (power off. Hold volume up and home button and press power, volume up at confirmation screen)
Open Odin make sure repartition is not checked
Plug phone into pc
When it's detected click "ap" and select stock firmware
Click run
Wait
After reboot go back in download and repeat process but use the modem package
After reboot repeat again but use twrp recovery
Download rom
Boot recovery (power off volume down, home power)
Flash rom

Flash to stock with Odin issue/question

Hi all. My daughter has been using my s3. I wanted to restore back to stock with Odin so i can update the phone for her. I've don't it so many times in the past without issue. Tonight I tries a few times. All goes well with Odin. No issues no errors. Yet when it finishes it boots right back up and nothing was actually done. Phone is same as it was. The phone was actually not restored to stock. What am I missing?
Is the phone an i747 or i747m? What bootloader is on the phone?

i747. Ucdlk3.
When I go software update it doesn't do anything. It's rooted with custom recovery. So wanted to just go stock and then update.
You're flashing the phone using the stock firmware from sammobile? What version of desktop Odin are you using?

Odin is 3.06
Using the same file I've always used. Root_art_i747ucdlk3.tar.md5
Its just strange as odin looks good and it passes at the end. Think its worth into try re-downloading the firmware? These files and the version of odin are what I've always used. And its the USB cable that came with the phone. Computer recognizes the phone too.
Post a screenshot of the Odin progress. Are you unchecking everything except F.reset time and auto reboot?

Correct. Those are the only two options that are checked. I'll try again and try and get pics. I know the first 2 times after odin was done it said "reset". The next two times it said "pass"
Try re-flashing using rom from sammobile.com. You need a completely stock rom in order to install ota updates.

Try Odin 3.07. Weird that I see i9505 on the Odin screen.
Boot into download mode and let us know what is says on the screen.

Thanks. Download mode says model is sgh-i747.
That's good. As I said, try Odin 3.07 which is what I always use. When flashing, this is what I do:
Launch Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time, flash. When I see the word reset in the status window, remove, the usb cable, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery, do a factory reset/wipe, boot phone.

Similar issues as OP, trying to go back to stock and having no success.
Anybody have a good tar stock rom link I can use?
On CWM Recovery and Cyanogenmod 11, bad flash caused me to lose IMEI. Yeah I'm in a world of hurt here.
Attempting to download firmware from sammobile right now. I've tried many things and all failed.

Before flashing anything from sammobile, make sure you are now running a 4.3 or newer bootloader. Flashing a ROM from sammobile with a 4.3 or newer bootloader might bright your phone.

If you want an easy way just install Root Checker by Free Android Tools. It's free will give you all the info you need.
I won't be able to try out again until this weekend. But this is just driving me crazy. I have a folder with Odin and my stock file that I have had and used forever. Never had an issue. Just did this a few months ago when I did this to get the phone ready before I have it to her. No idea what's going on.
