Hi all. My daughter has been using my s3. I wanted to restore back to stock with Odin so i can update the phone for her. I've don't it so many times in the past without issue. Tonight I tries a few times. All goes well with Odin. No issues no errors. Yet when it finishes it boots right back up and nothing was actually done. Phone is same as it was. The phone was actually not restored to stock. What am I missing?
Is the phone an i747 or i747m? What bootloader is on the phone?

i747. Ucdlk3.
When I go software update it doesn't do anything. It's rooted with custom recovery. So wanted to just go stock and then update.
You're flashing the phone using the stock firmware from sammobile? What version of desktop Odin are you using?

Odin is 3.06
Using the same file I've always used. Root_art_i747ucdlk3.tar.md5
Its just strange as odin looks good and it passes at the end. Think its worth into try re-downloading the firmware? These files and the version of odin are what I've always used. And its the USB cable that came with the phone. Computer recognizes the phone too.
Post a screenshot of the Odin progress. Are you unchecking everything except F.reset time and auto reboot?

Correct. Those are the only two options that are checked. I'll try again and try and get pics. I know the first 2 times after odin was done it said "reset". The next two times it said "pass"
Try re-flashing using rom from sammobile.com. You need a completely stock rom in order to install ota updates.

Try Odin 3.07. Weird that I see i9505 on the Odin screen.
Boot into download mode and let us know what is says on the screen.

Thanks. Download mode says model is sgh-i747.
That's good. As I said, try Odin 3.07 which is what I always use. When flashing, this is what I do:
Launch Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time, flash. When I see the word reset in the status window, remove, the usb cable, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery, do a factory reset/wipe, boot phone.

Similar issues as OP, trying to go back to stock and having no success.
Anybody have a good tar stock rom link I can use?
On CWM Recovery and Cyanogenmod 11, bad flash caused me to lose IMEI. Yeah I'm in a world of hurt here.
Attempting to download firmware from sammobile right now. I've tried many things and all failed.

Before flashing anything from sammobile, make sure you are now running a 4.3 or newer bootloader. Flashing a ROM from sammobile with a 4.3 or newer bootloader might bright your phone.

If you want an easy way just install Root Checker by Free Android Tools. It's free will give you all the info you need.
I won't be able to try out again until this weekend. But this is just driving me crazy. I have a folder with Odin and my stock file that I have had and used forever. Never had an issue. Just did this a few months ago when I did this to get the phone ready before I have it to her. No idea what's going on.

I already tried that before, or did i used it wrongly?
Just to verifiy, what are the actual steps to flashing a PIT to re-partition.
oh and by the way forgot to add this in the main post.
sad Christmas i have
metoo
i have a GT7100, and just flash 4 file: pit, pda, csc, modem, i fix storage error but emei is not
I'm not sure if it's possible to get the imei back without an efs backup, even if you do fix everything else. Odia had a way to do it back on the sgs2 but I'm not sure if the same thing will work for the note 2 or not, your best bet is to try to get your carrier or Samsung to replace it.

flash philz touch cwm and try partitioning with it.
There's no leak rom for n7105. Pit file usually can be found in it.
I remember my friend note2 had problem. .no matter what he did oso cant solve.
In the end he hit "factory reset " (not cwm) and he solved issue.

First, a HUGE thanks goes @garwynn for helping run the site and building all these one-clicks! Second, thanks to @jdsingle76 for posting the original TAR this was based off of, available here.
This Odin One-Click.exe contains the Stock MK5 Bootloader, Kernel, Modem and ROM for the Boost/Virgin Samsung Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710RWBBST). Yes, that means this comes with the full Knox Bootloader.
There has been no change to the ROM from the initial build released by Samsung.
This will NOT trigger the Yellow Triangle NOR will it increment the Odin flash count.
This one-click resets your whole phone to the stock MK5 experience, similar to a factory restore and it will wipe all data. It also contains the full bootloader and Knox.
Instructions:
1: Backup anything important and Disable any PINs.
During this process your phone's software will be returned to the Stock setup. All system data will be lost. To be safe, it is best to archive your backup off your phone, ie on your PC or Dropbox.
2: Install Samsung USB/Android drivers (if necessary).
Samsung Drivers Download Link
3: Download the MK5 Stock ROM One-Click.
SPH-L710RWBBST_MK5_Full Restore_UNROOTED (Compressed Archive).exe (Resets user data)
4: Unzip One-Click ROM using 7zip (this package is a self-extracting exe you should just be able to double-click on it after download and it will do the rest).
5: Start the Odin One-Click.
Navigate to the location where the SPH-L710RWBBST_MK5_Full Restore_UNROOTED.exe was saved upon extract from the 7Zip archive.
Double-click on SPH-L710RWBBST_MK5_Full Restore_UNROOTED.exe. *On Vista or newer, you may need to right-click on the file and Run as Administrator.
6: Place phone in Download Mode.
- Power phone completely off.
- Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons, all at the same time.
- Release the buttons only when the ‘Warning!!’ message appears.
- Press [Volume Up] to enter Download mode.
7: Connect USB cable to PC and phone.
Odin should show a yellow COM port in the second column. If you do not see a yellow COM port, you may need to run the Odin One-Click as Administrator and/or unplug/plugin the USB cable after starting Odin One-Click.
8: Start Odin flash process.
Press [Start].
9: Complete - PASS!
Status should change to green PASS! At this point your phone should automatically reboot.
Android Instructions:
Download and install ZArchiver on your phone. Use it to unpack the Odin One-Click 7zip self-extracting exe file (long press on the 7zip exe. Select "Open As Archive". Select the One-Click.exe and then select Extract). Use Mobile Odin to Open File the SPH-L710RWBBST_MK5_Full Restore_UNROOTED.exe. FYI - Modem will not flash with Mobile Odin.
The boot process will take slightly longer than usual during which time you'll see the Boost/Virgin 4G logo screen.
Congratulations! You've flashed the Factory Restore MK5 build!

Good stuff man...glad to see you back to work I know this goes without saying, but if anyone on Sprint/Boost/VM has already flashed the ND8 4.4.2 update, they CAN NOT flash this one-click, since that would be downgrading bootloaders, which equals BRICK!!! No you will not be able to recover. A hard brick is not recoverable. A soft brick (or sponge) is usually recoverable. But flashing any firmware from before nd8 (once you've updated to nd8 or later) will result in a hard brick and your phone will be a paperweight. Modems too, do not flash any modems from before nd8 (like mk5) or it will be over.

Is it just in one location? Sometimes they are working on towers in the area which can cause problems. Have you done a clean Odin flash with a factory reset? If yes then I'm not sure what else you can do. The .tar has everything in it. Flashing around older modems isn't going to help. What started the problem?

The problem started when one morning I woke up and I lost singnal, MEID. My MEID was 00000000000. My baseband was also unknow. Then I fixed my MEID it by going to the Full restore (Older version) with DFS QPST QXDM.. I got my MEID Back and my service back. but another problem with full restore was, the phone asked to insert sim card. Since I could not find any solution then I Odin NJ2 tar. Since then I have signal but I get 1xRTT all the time. 3G super slow and hardly get 4GLTE. Even when I get 4GLTE, it is not working.
@madbat99 I saw this flashable modem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787677 Will this work if I flash NJ2 already?
I really think the problem is the modem.
Thank you so much for responding. I posted on Q&A and no one has responding.
I know this thread is old, but I could not get the 'one-click' odin file to run for me. So, I extracted all of the individual files, wrapped them in a tar-ball, and created a tar.md5 that can be flashed using odin. This is confirmed working as I am currently running it now.
I want to upload it to the community, but I do not think xda would accept a 897mb zip file attachment. if anyone wants it I do have it and am looking for hosting sites.
***edit***
I am hosting the file on my private server. this is the link.
Just so I'm clear... if the Boost Mobile S3 I have is on ND8, NJ2 or NK2 (which I never heard about) ... I should not use any of these MK5 Restore ROMs?
I made a mistake in buying this phone thinking any S3 could be used with the Ting service. Found out that neither the Boost nor the Virgin Mobile phones can be used due to some contractual thing between Sprint and Ting. Basically since Sprint owns parts of Boost and Virgin Mobile... it's against their interest to allow those phones to be used with another Pre-Paided Provider.
At any rate, I am trying to revert this phone back to Stock regardless of the radio version. I don't care what the resulting radio is. I just need to revert it to Stock so I can toss it up on eBay and get rid of it. Is there a Stock Restore ROM for ND8, NJ2, and NK2? If yes... anyone have a link? If not... is there a way to revert the Nxx version back to the MK5 version in order to apply the MK5 ROM in this thread?
All help appreciated.

Youll need a pc. And since you already tripped the security blanket, flash the firmware from the firmware link and youll have zero problems.
I added an Odin 3.09 link to the thread for you.
Instructions
Download firmware
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Run the exe in Odin v3.09 folder
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
And youll be good to go. If you want to flash the stock rooted knoxless deodex'd rom, just install twrp/cwr/philz, flash it, reboot directly to recovery and flash the rom and youre set

Ah, thank you ShinySide. So what about the modems and fn13 downloads? How are those used?

You use Odin to flash the firmware and modem onto your phone.

the modems will be flashed with the firmware. You'll be good to go after it finishes.
The permissive kernel is to be flashed with twrp/cwr. Or I could actually put it in a tar to flash with odin later
Anybody else having data issues with the FNI3 modem? I did a factory reset, flashed the full firmware using Odin 3.09, rooted with cf auto root, and reinstalled twrp. After that, I set up all my apps again. But now with the FNI3 modem, I can't keep a stable LTE connection; it keeps dropping to really slow 4G. I had to flash back the T-Mobile NH7 modem I was using before to get a solid connection again.

Here is what I did since I needed to update my bootloader anyway
Download stock firmware and the modem/non-hilos combo and also the twrp odin flashable file and Odin
Put them on your pc in an easy to find place
Put phone in download mode (power off. Hold volume up and home button and press power, volume up at confirmation screen)
Open Odin make sure repartition is not checked
Plug phone into pc
When it's detected click "ap" and select stock firmware
Click run
Wait
After reboot go back in download and repeat process but use the modem package
After reboot repeat again but use twrp recovery
Download rom
Boot recovery (power off volume down, home power)
Flash rom
hi there, i have a problem while trying too root my s3 using ct-autoroot.
after connecting and flashing it via odin everything goes smooth and fine but when it restarts my phone it won't boot into recovery it would only flash black screen with a blue font in the top saying "recovery booting..." then shut it self down. I watched some other video on youtube which their phone successfully boot into recovery->blackscreen->samsung->logo->recovery thats installing the new file from autoroot, but mine just doesnt work even if i clear the cache and tried to redo the steps, still gets "recovery booting" ->black screen->phone shutsdown
it was also stated on the chainfire autoroot website that
"For the root to work, the device must reboot into recovery. Most devices will do this automatically after flashing these files, but in case that does not happen, please boot into recovery manually."
i have Samsung s3 (sgh-i747m)
carrier: bell
Android version: 4.1.2
P.s
I also tried installing root checker and tried to check my system but it says : "Sorry root access is not properly installed on this device"
Do you have any warranty left on your phone? Is your phone sim unlocked?
Since you're on 4.1.2, you can unlock your phone using the free method.

nope, problem is still happening what i mean is its already sim unlocked before i tried to root. it still shuts down completely when trying to boot into recovery mode when flashing cf-autoroot for sgh-i747m
The easiest way to solve the problem would be to flash back to stock ROM, flash Philz d2lte recovery, and flash supersu from recovery.

one question sir audit. will it be safe to flash a stock rom? i mean what if it fails to boot into recovery again. will it bricked my phone if that happens?
You can flash a stock rom from sammobile.com as long as you don't downgrade the bootloader.

hi , i successfully flashed 4.3 stock rom (because i cant find a 4.1.2 stock rom) what i noticed is the app called knox. i heard that it sometimes block you from rooting your phone. but when i clicked on it ,it ask me if i want to install it which is approximately 119mb of data but i havent clicked on it yet. I also check if its in my device security administration but it is not currently checked. Is it still safe to root my s3?

If you update to the latest kk, the easiest way to root would be to flash a custom recovery and flash supersu via recovery.

HI there, same problem I am facing as well. How to flash the stock ROM and recovery if the screen is not working? ODIN is not recognizing the device. No SD card as well.
My Galaxy S3 is SIM locked and with Bell .. Android 4.4.2 How to go back to normal mode again ? Thx.
Removed battery for a min, changed the USB port on the computer and attempted the process for about 5 times- then Volume down + Power + centre home button- started ODIN- recovery image was there as well.- flashed- Back to normal.. Sigh !
If you can't see the screen, the easiest way to get to download mode would be to use a USB jig. I purchased a jig soon after getting my Samsung Captivate. It has been used by me and several frieds to get ourselves out of a jam.
hi. bought second hand note 2 with software problem (that what the previous owner said)
thought that will b a simple job but its not.
already tried flash by odin with single file (FAILED), also tried with 4 files with PIT and without PIT (FAILED). tried to make recovery by kies (phone doesnt connect with program). Computer recognise phone.
tried this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2154890 and not working.
I can go to download mode with no problem, to fastboot no chance, with recovery i cant do anything (cant wipe cache, cant wipe data) recovery looks like that

any ideas how to fix it, or it can b a hardware problem??
What is error message in Odin? It's also possible that the memory chip is defective.

once im trying to flash with 4 files with PIT or without, (or flash just bootloader) i get something like that
if flashing one file rom is like that
also forogot to mention as i cant charge the phone (once conect the charger it showing a battery with circle on middle and stuck like that). when trying to turn it on it stuck on Samsung galaxy note 2 GT-N7100
In the second screen, Odin is stopping at the sboot.bin file.
Are you sure you have the correct firmware?
N7100xxufne1 is the same which is on board at the moment (looks like)
Does the model number on the battery label match the model number in download mode?

yes, it is
I'm not sure why Odin would fail at the sboot file if the rom matches the phone.

me to, that why im asking. i fixed a lot samsungs but never had a problem like with this note
any other ideas??
I bet the device has a newer bootloader than the firmware you are using. Possibley a foreign firmware or update that was released by a carrier.

You have to flash latest firmware with pit file for repartition. The separated files firmware you are trying to flash with pit file is older than the existed, it is xxufnd4 and your bootloader is xxufne1. Sammy don't let old bootloader to flash over new. Also try odin v3 1.87, it flashes safely fw when newer odin fails.

Thanks. Is this resolved? I'm having very similar issues with my SGH-T889, failed to mount /efs, /system, etc. in recovery mode.
How do I get the latest firmware, etc.? I'm new to the forum and any help is very much appreciated.
