Hello, i just updated my phone to 6.0 marshmallow ( htc one m8 ) and it sucks.. so i want my 5.4 lollipop version back.. My phone is not rooted, and i do not have TWRP installed. Someone please help me get back to 5.4 Lollipop! If necesery, i will root my phone, just please tell me how to do it.
Thanks in advance !!
Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist.
Yes, if you want to roll back, you will have to root your phone. You will also have to make your phone S-Off.
To root, you'll need to unlock your bootloader first. You can do that through http://www.htcdev.com/ You'll have to register an account first if memory serves me well. (It's been almost two years)
The instructions for unlocking your bootloader are there.
After that, you need to flash the v2.8.7.0 TWRP recovery in fastboot, then use TWRP to flash SuperSU, or flash a rooted ROM (most are rooted)
I am going to have this thread moved to the M8 help forum (M8 Q&A), and I or others will give further assistance there if it is needed.
Good luck!

Flash SuperSU in recovery *download link here*, or flash a rooted ROM.
ViperOneM8 4.3.0 for example, is a solid, rooted Lollipop ROM.

This may seem like an obvious idea, but are you making sure your actual phone is in fastboot mode? (Step 10 under unlocking your bootloader in the tutorial linked above.) Usually when I get this it's because I forgot to do that, assuming everything is connected.
Do you have windows 8?

Hey guys massive noob here, wondering if it is possible to downgrade from android l to kitkat or to root android L on the G3. I foolishly updated and my root is gone, stump is not working (obviously not made for L yet) and I can't find any help elsewhere.
I need to root my phone and I don't care whether the the best way is to downgrade or to root if it is available for the new os. I will lose my data other than what is backed up via dropbox etc but it's not a big deal for me.
Help much appreciated thanks
Yes it is possible just downgrade to Kitkat using the lg flash tool then root using Purpledrake
You can get the KDZ file required from this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2791761 (make sure you select the correct file)
LG Flash tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000
Yup, what he said it's fairly easy. Give it try, let us know if you need help.

I've fallen at the first hurdle, which firmware do I need?
I have a UK vodafone LG G3, 16GB, LG-D855, and I want the last version of kit kat available. I'm more than a noob.. .
Also why do you choose Purpledrake over stump, is there any difference?
Thank you so much
This firmware you want is A6VF, it is near the bottom of the list.
The reason I use purpledrake over stump is because some times it won't root and says "...Not supported" but feel free to try stump if you want and if it doesn't work just use purpledrake.
Hi. I got trapped with unrooting and updating to lollipop lg g3 D85520e-EUR-XX and wanted to return to kit kat 4.4.2. It's the 32 Gb model. Can you help with the KDZ i must download (I can't understand the four first characters of the list!). Thanks!
What network are you currently using? or is it an unlocked phone. A country name would also be helpful as that's how the files are organized.

It's unlocked. It's in Spain. Lg g3 D85520e. 32 Gb model. It came with kit kat 4.4.2 and i aplied PurpleDrake succesfully. Then I unrooted to upgrade to Lollipop 5. Ver. 20e. And now, I can't root anymore. So I would like to downgrade to Kit Kat 4.4.2 to be able to root again with PurpleDrake to recover my root privileges, especially to manage apps and their writing to the external sd card.
Thanks very much for your help!

Hey, thanks for replying. I'm a total noob at this. I don't know what these terms mean s-off or flashing. I did tried to google them but to no avail.
Can you guide me a little as how do I turn s-off?
My device is the middle eastern version.

Is it safe though? Any risk of bricking?

Thanks for tip. I tried uninstalling "HTC speak" but still getting problem. Where can I install Mobile active fix?
Thanks again.
Install Xposed installer and install the framework. You can find guides about it all over the desire eye forum. Then open the installed app i.e Xposed Installer. Go to downloads and search MobileRadioActiveFix. Download and install it. Then go back to main menu. Go to framework and reboot device from the framework.

Okay
Hey guys, before I start, I have spent hours researching all the files I need for this, but I am rusty as I haven't looked at rooting since I did 5.1.1. I have about 4 links, that all explain how to root to 6.0.1, but my question is: Most all of them say you need to rollback to 5.1.1 and then start the root process from there, or start with changing the marshmallow bootloader first, etc. If I am already rooted on 5.1.1 can I just use flashfire and simply use the stock 6.0.1 firmware, or do I still need to follow all instructions? Where exactly do I need to start if I am already rooted/unlocked on 5.1.1?
Here are the links I have been looking at:

Thank you sir. One last question, when it says this:
Flash MM Safe Upgrade, JasmineROM v6.0, CM13 or any MM ROM
Any preference?

I guess I will have to do more research because I have never got into any of that stuff, and don't know any differences.

I will try this out.
After I complete the entire process, can I just use titanium backup and restore my backup to have all of my apps/settings back on my newly rooted device?
Looks like I ****ed up somewhere, and now I am on a non-rooted 6.0.1 .....ffs
I assume now I have to redo everything and drop down back to 5.1.1 rooted?
