You can stay supercid and just run the unlocked developers RUU for a full stock conversion... He will still be able to receive OTA updates.. Post the results from "fastboot getvar all" but remove imei and serial... If your phone is gsm, download and run this file from a PC.. Takes about ten minutes to install and ten minutes to reboot... http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/ but I'd post the fastboot output to confirm before running the RUU.exe file

The phone came in 32 and 64gb on GSM, CDMA, etc.. He's S-off so unlocking the bootloader should be as simple as "fastboot oem unlock".. Still "fastboot getvar all" output is needed so we can see model number, partition size, firmware, etc

If you unlock your bootloader via HTC Dev this removes the CID and allows you to flash any RUU. Essentially exactly the same as the Goldcard tool does.

Mmmmm no i don't think that is the case, just look in the shipped ROM thread and see all the people with branded phones that can't flash different regions ruu.

Only speaking from experience. Mine was T-Mob branded, unlocked with HTCDev, CID showed as "None" then was able to flash the WWE RUU.

Interesting, don't suppose you know what software version you were on before do you ? 401 is the WWE, mine is 206.
I tried flashing the WWE on my o2 branded phone after I had relocked my boot loader but obviously didn't work....I'm just trying it now after re unlocking it

Could you have a look ( or post ) the ruu logs from the folder in the root of c ( on your computer ) as mine show in the install failing due to cid not matchinf

The fastboot command to query it doesn't work for some reason and will always return None even if there is a CID set.

I think it's because the bootloader is unlocked.

fastboot shows None as the CID for my One X which is still S-ON LOCKED and I know it has a CID because its a Orange UK branded handset. It just doesn't work for some reason. It isn't related to the security mode or whether it is locked, unlocked or relocked.

S-ON is different. I have unlocked my bootloader and I still have S-ON. Whenever you unlock the bootloader your CID is gone. I have read many owners of the One X that has the same result when they unlock the bootloader.

I know. My post was a reply to monkeyphonix who said they couldn't see the CID normally but could see it with CID getter. It is because getting the CID using fastboot doesn't work for some reason.

No, my bootloader is still locked and i also can't get cid from FASTBOOT but CID Getter gives me HTC_001
My device is a European unlocked version purchased from Expansys.

Regardless of the 'None' response from an htcdev.com unlock, you can get the CID of your device by using the following command:
fastboot oem readcid
This will show the OEM CID number - which is the one that controls which RUU can be flashed to your phone.
Hope this helps someone.

Ahh. So that is how you get the CID via fastboot.
I knew what my CID was anyway but here is what it should look like:
fastboot oem readcid
...
(bootloader) DEBUG: cid: ORANG001
OKAY [ 0.051s]
finished. total time: 0.052s
Obviously, once we get S-OFF the following command will grant SuperCID status.
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
I'm waiting on a couple of cables to arrive that will allow me to try out the Gold Card approach used on the HTC Mango devices - hopefully the One X will go into USB host mode?

[Q] Installing Jelly Bean on CID 11111111

Hi folks,
Just a quick question that I'm not able to post into the Development threads given my number of previous posts.
My phone phone is a contract one purchased via my carrier, 3, in the UK. Using CID Getter from the Play store, I've identified my phone's CID as being "11111111"; does this mean I can install any hboot at all and be able to upgrade to JB? From what I've found elsewhere online, this seems to indicate that my phone can support any of them but I'm unsure. Would installing an hboot from another carrier mean that I'd have to manually input my own carrier's settings?
Thanks for any help,
10x
Correct. With that CID you can flash the Taiwanese firmware and OTA. You may need to enter your carrier's APN settings afterwards to best write them down before you do it.

I also have that cid. Do you know where I can find a link to the Taiwanese jellybean update?
To the OP - you won't have CID 11111111, it'll be a 3-branded phone. run the fastboot command
fastboot getvar cid
and post it here, we'll go from there
fastboot oem readcid
Is more reliable.

[Q] com.android.phone stopped..!

Hi guys.Im new to HTC one X.I just bought an HTC one X from e-bay and it came pre rooted thought the phone looks brandnew.I tried to insert a sim and my phone keeps on showing an error saying process.com.android.phone is stopped and it does not show any signal bars. After several reboots sometimes signal bars do appear sometimes. But i am unable to make or recieve calls as my phone app keeps on force closing. My phone has stock ICS.
So if i flash a stock RUU will the problem be solved or is there anything that i can do to make my phone work?thank you.
I would recommend flashing a stock RUU.
You would need to check your CID and whether your bootloader is locked or unlocked. To do this, you can hold power+volume up down buttons to reboot phone to bootloader and see the first line.
The RUU you flash must match your CID.

And post the outcome of this fastboot command

one more question.Mine has got super CID.
So what RUU should i flash?
You mean Super CID 11111111?
Did you check with:
fastboot getvar cid
fastboot oem readcid
If my understanding is correct, you should be able to flash any RUU with any CID in that case.
Just make sure the RUU you are flashing is for your device model (HTC One X Endeavor, not HTC One XL or anything else)
I have never owned a supercid device though, so you might want to confirm with someone else.

problem in detcting my htc m8 model

hi friends i have bought a Htc one m8 from ebay.in and i tried to update the phone but there was no software update option in the settings through google i learnt that i have to flash stock recovery through adb but the problem begins now that i cant determine my phones model as it indicates HTC M8w (HTCOneM8vzw) and in Software it says "Sprint_M8_X.rom_2.0.5" so please help me to determine my phones model weather it is Sprint or Verizon or M8w and please help me to find wheather there is any easy way to update my phones software
thanks in advance
Please get to fastboot and run a getvar all to get all details. This one probably have a custom recovery in place as well.
The software version listed in Settings means nothing. It looks like the name of a custom ROM that the previous owner flashed.
I agree with the last response, that we need getvar data to be sure how to proceed. Do fastboot getvar all, and post the output (delete IMEI and serial number before posting).
Also, this thread belong in the Q&A, Support forum section. So I've asked the mods to move it.
it was previously on super cid 11111111 but once i accidentally changed to VZW__001 plz tell what should i do to change it also as iam a newbie to these things

Its Sprint, Harmon Kardon (HK) Edition. The product name m8_whl means its Sprint. The main version number "654" means its the HK Edition.
You can go back to SuperCID with the command: fastboot oem writecid 11111111
Or you can go back to the Sprint CID. Searching around, the CID for HK Edition is: SPCS_004
Then update using the RUU and instruction near the bottom of the following: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-harman-kardon-edition-sprint/news/
Be aware, the RUU will wipe the phone. So backup anything you want to keep accordingly.
i need to ask a question that if i update using RUU wold my phone will be get locked as i dont know wheather its factory unlocked or not is there any way-out to check the same

[HELP] HTC 10 bootloop on Bootloader Mode

Hi everybody,
I'm sorry, I'm sure this question may be asked so much time, but after 1 hour searching I don't find anything usefull for me... (Maybe a keywork issue ?)
I don't know what I've done, but after I locked again the bootloader in order to flash on a RUU, I blocked my HTC 10 and can't boot on android again.
When I tried it the phone is only going to bootloader mode and don't want to get to my Os. I have TWRP and was on the custom LeeDroid 7.0.
I can't backup or do anything and while i try the dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota on the terminal, it won't work...
And I can't unlock again the phone, I've tried and it's "relocked".
Has someone have the same issues ? Really need your help ! :crying:
Thank you !
Why did you even lock the bootloader to flash a RUU? Is that mandatory? Sticking with Lee is always a better idea .
You might wanna try using a RUU.exe to get your OS back. What firmware and model do you currently have?

Yes it was lol...
But i've read that it was better to be on a locked bootloader to flash ruu :crying:
Yes, you need to lock the bootloader to flash an RUU.
Some people like custom roms, some want to go back to stock.
From the bootloader you can go to download mode and get the unlock token and try the process again to unlock, I would guess. Beyond that, I'm assuming the RUU screwed up somewhere. It is generally not possible to flash an RUU unless the phone matches the RUU's CID and MID parameters. And if it didnt work, the RUU wont have gotten far enough to do any damage.

so you can't flash ruu with a unlocked bootloader?? thats odd...people use rru to get back to stock after running custom rom and you shouldn't lock bootloader with custom firmware bc it supposedly bricks you...or is download mode still operatable?
edit: i just flashed an ruu to check and can confirm ruu worked with unlocked bootloader and s-on.

Fair enough, advice I followed at the time suggested I relock bootloader to do an RUU. Being S-ON or OFF doesn't matter.
However, since there was no RUU for my CID (H3G__001) I had to S-OFF in order to change my CID to WWE (HTC__001) to flash that RUU. My phones status at the time was S-OFF, Relocked. It worked fine. It also worked fine under those same conditions after I changed my CID to BS_US001 and MID to 2PS6500000.

I don't think it's the US MID, my IMEI is German and the phone works great on 4G / LTE in France (where I live) and i've read that 4G won't work with an US version in France, but maybe you're true and their is no RUU for my version ... (fragmentation pleasures).
Do you know how i can s-off this phone in order to change those CID which block me ? ^^' because i can't use sunshine bc no OS installed and can't flash one ...
In fact, the only think i can flash / unflash is TWRP and the recovery stock..
