First semi reliable info! Let the countdown begin!
This is when the international versions will begin to receive the update. Look for AT&T (and the other carriers) to hold that update at least 3 to 6 months extra to add their bloat.

Exactly. So we can seriously expect a release date sometime this summer to late summer. That is, IF ATT decides to release the update at all.

Me too!
I'm happy with mine, too. I got so obsessed with flashing Roms on my first 3 galaxies that I finally got burnt out on it. Sure, root would be nice, but I'm fine with the device as is. But I also don't have some of the issues I see other have. I've got no camera problems and I regularly get about 6 hours of screen on time. So, I'm good.

That's quite a broad question but I'll try to give you details. I've disabled anything I don't use or that I know cause battery drain. There are several apps in the app manager that aren't "useable" apps, and they aren't in the app drawer, but cause significant battery drain - disabled without negative results. I switch between touchwiz and Nova Prime launchers (and have noticed no difference in battery drain). I keep things like wifi and Bluetooth disabled if I'm not using them. Auto brightness turned off. I keep location on but only on power saving mode unless I'm traveling out if town.
That's generally it, I guess...

It's a long list. It was easier to just screenshot them. In the bottom two you can see my battery stats. I unplugged this morning around 7:15 AM and I'm down to about 47% after 8 hours and 3.5 hours screen-on time.
Today, I've checked email several times, had several phone calls, plus I've streamed youtube to a chromecast for classes that I teach, and even played a couple games during lunch. I do have lots of other apps I use, too; about 4-5 pages worth in my app drawer. Working well for me.

Hi,
Will it be possible to update my device in another country that there is no AT&T services here. Last time in forum I saw some guys telling to use Kies to update and they said there are some pages but I couldn't find them either.
Can you help me to locate one of these pages, If exists; to be able to update my device automatically ? Everytime I update my device in my country I had to backup everything and put back again which is reallly painfull!

Kies is one way, but it sometimes takes Kies a while to get the carrier-branded firmwares. (International firmware is almost instant on the other hand).
The fastest 2 ways to get the update would be to
1) use someone's activated ATT sim in your phone. Pop it in, boot up the phone, wait a few minutes for the sim to set itself up with your phone, then check for updates. Then download, install, and then put your original sim back in.
2) Use an Odin file. The only issue with this is that you most likely will have to start from scratch with your apps and settings. Be sure to back everything up first.
You'll also have to wait for the Odin files to be released by someone, but it'll be 100x sooner than Kies.
Edit: The latest 5.1.1 Odin files are in the first post here (you'll need all 4 files in the Dropbox link):

Hi All,
I got my first tablet today, the Acer Iconia A100. I'm no stranger to Android, and figured this would be a good stop-gap tablet until something with middlefield comes out... That being said, I have a few questions:
1) I was reading there is an ETA of "January" for an ICS upgrade, I'm guessing since this is probably one of their lower end models it might not be a top priority for them, but is there a place for me to track their status?
2) I'm located in Canada but it says that my version is EMEA_GB. Is there a way for me to change my version to the Canadian one?
3) Is there anything special I should know about using this device? I am currently pretty versed with a Moto XT860 (Droid 3 CAN version)
Thanks all!
As far as the ICS update, there hasnt been any recent news or tracking. We have been bugging them, and they give us the same gig, keep automatic update checked in settings, and they said its coming, but no date. I hope before the end of January myself.
You can check the updates that have been released, but I think they are the same as far as the regions go.
Its just a standard tablet that has a locked bootloader. We havnt been able to break it yet, and I have yet to root my device. Others have been able to, but something is preventing me from getting it done. It cant do USB hosting yet, but I expect it to be able to host when ICS comes around sometime.

Where are you seeing that version information?
(BTW, EMEA stands for ''Europe, Middle East and Africa'')
If it's under Build, mine says: ''Acer_A100_2.007.04_COM_GEN1''
If it's under Flex Version, mine says: ''04_COM_GEN1''
I doubt if your ''EMEA_GB'' will affect your updates or your Market access, but you never know...

Probably already know this, but the battery goes out kind quickly, if you turn off wifi(I use a wifi toggle widget since I dont like going into the settings to turn it off), you can save a ton of battery power.

An even easier way to do this is to use the Airplane Mode toggle that is already built in to the notification bar area that pops up. I find it easier than backing out of an app that I am in to turn off WiFi.

I'll definitwly ask "what's the dealio", but I'll most likely get the default reply, "we must test the firmware updates thoroughly before releasing to the general public."
It is bs that the international was released ages ago and a couple big carriers in the states have received recently but nothing for AT&T or Canada.
I know when it's released I will use it for a day and then back to AOKP. Touchwiz has some nice apps and features but prefer cm based roms for customizability and battery life.

Well sure enough, their reply was pretty much what I thought it would be. The guy at Telus kinda leveled with me and said he personally has no idea when a release could be, but guessed that since T-Mobile publicly released their 4.1.2, ours should follow in the next week or two. That's just an educated guess though.

Yeah Telus sure is the breadwinner, when it comes to reliable carriers. Hopefully the release is soon. Im itching to start building a new rom with a Telus base.
Pretty sure we'll never get to see 4.1.2 on our phones.
We'll get 4.2.2 instead, which makes much more sense from a carrier's perspective.
They already upgraded our phones to Jelly Bean 4.1.1. The next logicial step is to go to 4.2.x (most likely 4.2.2).
A 4.2.2 build for the international version came up a few days ago on sammobile.
I'd expect equivalent builds for the N/A variants to show up in a month or 2... and eventually make their way to the carriers.
And if we're lucky enough, we might eventually see 4.3.x someday.
That's if Samsung is willing to go this far with the GS3 and, only then, if the carriers care enough to "test" it.
Just don't put all your eggs in that 4.3.x basket...

Care to tell me your secret?
On touchwiz/stock rooted I get ~3 days of battery with general use; 24-32hrs of heavy use with tethering.
On any AOK/SP roms, and I've tried nearly all the big players (Task650, ParanoidKang, ParanoidAndroid, PAC-man, etc), I'm lucky to last throughout the night. Same apps, same settings, same everything across the board.
If I take it off the charger at 100% at 8pm, by 6am I'm at 40-50% battery.. but on stock I'll be in the 80s somewhere..

On average.. As an example I'll use this long weekend that just passed (May 24 for Canadians). I took my phone off the charger at 4pm Friday, and by this morning when my alarm went off for Work it was at 3% (just made it!).
That was with wifi mostly off, bluetooth mostly on and connected to my car, a few "here and there" emails and a good 20mins on a chrome/reddit browsing session at an impromptu 4am wakeup from the dog..
Text messages and Facebook notifications as well floating by at a regular pace, but nothing too crazy, no tethering or asst. light, nothing crazy battery heavy. Brightness was at a locked 70% (used an NFC tag to get it exactly at that), took 8 pictures with flash and 2 videos with light on totaling 4 minutes. I think there was a two or three minute time when I plugged it into my computer to transfer some media on and off the phone, but that wouldn't even get me half a percent of battery..
Around 10am it notified me that the battery was fully charged - I removed it from the charger then, and currently, 4 hours later, I'm sitting at 95%. That was with 25 text message sent/received, two facebook messages, three emails, and about 10 restarts from me screwing around with TiBu uninstalls, apk installations and recovery related maintenance.
EDIT: Stock battery, for those wondering..

Victoria Day long weekend is casually referred too as "The May 24 Weekend", as it normally has the 24th of May somewhere in that weekend. Yes the 24th is two days from now, but I was referring to the long weekend that just passed for Canadians like myself

Actually, it's AOH5, but I haven't figured out the changes yet.
Not sure if it's the fact that my phone was rebooted during the update, but it's very smooth after the update.
Same here. Anyone knows the changelog?? :\
54 packages updated. I didn't get a chance to pull the update. Probably just the stagefright stuff, samsung fixes, and at&t making their preloads more annoying. I don't see anything new popping up at me.
New APK: /system/priv-app/AmazonInstaller_ATT/AmazonInstaller_ATT.apk (this is in addition to the previous amazon shopping apk.)

This is going to sound really strange...but can anyone who has updated their phone -and- has a Samsung wireless charging pad that has been unreliable with maintaining a charging status see if it works better now?
I have read others who have Note 5s say that a software update helped fix the problems they were having with their Samsung wireless charging pads so I was wondering if this update helped ATT Note owners.
I'm trying to induce a flashing blue error in my pad right now, but so far I've re-positioned my phone about four times and it's stayed solid blue each time. Kind of frustrating because I just processed a refund for it via Amazon.
May just be my imagination but it seems that my fingerprint reader is a lot quicker and more accurate. I had been having issues since installing a tempered glass screen protector, but now works the first time every time.

Yeah, It's like a complete reversal now. Before I had to struggle to find a position that kept the wireless charger blue (charging) but now I can't seem to get it to switch to flashing blue (not or minimal charging). Very strange. most likely not the same as you will likely never be able to charge to 100%, the only way would be to roll back the firmware to a previous version then block updates if you plan on keeping the phone.
The only way is to change kernel.

Darn recall screen is very annoying. Every time when charging it pops up.
I just noticed, with wireless charging, I'm getting a message saying "irregular charging detected" and it pretty much pauses wireless charging as a result. Regular charging seems to be normal still, with no messages other than the lightning bolt in the battery... weird. No recall messages though (other than a text message from AT&T earlier this morning).
I'm wondering if I should bring it back tonight, or if I can hold out a few more days... ugh, the uncertainty :/ I kind of want to keep it a few more days, I'm hoping for another Samsung promotion, so I can pickup the VR.

backup your data, hard reset and turn off wifi and take out sim card, your rom should go back to normal and then use firewall and package disabler apps.
try not fo fly with the note, although very rare chance of it exploding and vaporising stuff.
I'd like to bring this thread back to life to see if anybody has gotten this recall notice to go away by disabling a package with Package Disabler Pro??
I have two Note 7s...the original I bought on launch day (that I was supposed to ship back) and the replacement Note 7. My replacement Note 7 is perfect...and I have package disabler pro on both to block the forced push updates to cripple my phones. BUT, the original Note 7 has the recall safety notice every time I plug it in, just like the OP. I would like to disable that pop-up. I have tried to disable a few packages, but to no avail.

Check the screen shot.

Get the Package Disabler PRO V6.3 and disable the Samsung Push Service box. Or delete the Samsung Account from the phone.

Im going to correct you:
That first update you are talking about is the "green battery" update. If you had the replacement device, that update turns your battery indicator green. If you had the original device (like you do), it adds the warning that I am talking about in my post above and that you are talking about here. That first update wasn't supposed to max your battery at 60%.

Same here. Is there any way of getting rid of that popup?
I'm with Videotron and I flashed AP_N930W8VLU2API3_CL8706648_QB10937043_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar after I got the forced 60% update.
I tried flashing AP_N930W8VLU1APH1_CL8706648_QB10528368_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar but it fails, is this normal?
BTW FOLKS next update knocks us off the networks. They are killing the phone. On phone with escalations depts for sprint and samsung all night 4+ hours and they are basically saying to buy an s7 instead of the note 7 and then buy the new phone if/when it comes out.
My sm-a520w is receiving the oreo update on June 25th.
Call me crazy, but i don't feel right about this upgrade.
The A5 has a great battery and with less features, less bixby etc. running it can only improve performance.
Where does Samsung post exactly what the upgrade consists of? Can you find it? I can't.
So i called Samsung and they couldn't tell me. They told me to call Google. In Samsung Members the moderator clearly stated that the OTA comes directly from Samsung. So why is it not possible to get this information? I want it from Samsung. Not a customer, not android central or google. It is modified by Samsung and they just expect us to download their planned murder of a mid-range device that performed far too well. And we will. Please tell me i can get this information directly from Samsung.
I have upgraded (A720F) and can confirm that the performance and battery is at least the same, if not better. So it shouldn't create you any problems, I believe.
You won't notice any dramatic change but it's nice to have new android versions.
Ok. I do find it frustrating to not at least be given a general idea from Samsung. I heard a couple negative results and tweaked

Do NOT Update, as after the update you'll have a drastic battery drain due to 'Cell Standby'. Just google it once and you'll have the idea.

No it was pushed back to July 9th.
Kinda late but...
Got the update. Bloat replaces bloat you could say.
Only good thing was being able to install good lock...
But! Get this.. is it me or do all sm-a520w users not see it in the galaxy store? So i got badlock
Routines? Seriously? What a load of junk. i like to use my phone and i am more than able to decide all of that
I hate automations and this app is... It's actually an accessibility add-on and great for people that need it, or your buddy with an S-9 that runs like an ace 2x with more viruses than a subway rat complete with 5 anti virus apps and a lockscreen a corpse could hack.
Task changer... Neato. Lock star... i get 5-10 really REALLY solid seconds of enjoyment/usage from that sucker every week. If Samsung wanted to really impress me they would have applied that to their boot movie. That flashing logo is the king of useless screens so many stare at during the first failed twrp attempt. If you get close, it giggles.
Clockface... check my lockstar review. Similar love.
Got twrp, rooted and debloated until i crashed it. Recovery, wipe... Spazzed on debloat and buggered it again. Where the @##! did all these apps come from? NHL stuff? Huh? 3rd time just took out the big guys that could be disabled and then came... BATTERY DRAIN!
Cell standby in 6 hours chewed about 2350 (yes almost two thousand five hundred mAh)
Woah... Started clearing caches and stopping apps and turned off volte and cleared cache force stop... Reset network settings and when the OCD relaxed i booted to twrp and wiped davlik (sounds like an eastern european youtube star) and the cache and...
It runs good now. Got all the apps removed that were obviously not needed and quite a few others that i researched. Turn off all security features first. Do not uninstall user dictionary, just dictionary.
Don't do more than one at a time... Ok you can but i did a bunch once. .....and after about 7 system failures i can deal with RAM never dropping below 1.2 gigs as opposed to 500 mb. I suspected my phone was a bit bloated. I had no idea i was supposed to use it and stab it with a knife for the entirety if its wasted life.
Waiting for hades to be compatible. Done with samsung ruining amazing computers.
Oreo? Ok but not corporate Oreo. Garbage.
