Wondering if anyone else has this issue, but when I connect my phone as either MTP, PTP or MIDI; I cannot access or see the DCIM\Camera folder. If I try to navigate to it "Computer\Nexus 5X\Internal storage\DCIM\Camera", I get an error saying Windows cannot find the folder. I have tried turning Debugging on and off, but it didn't make a difference. I've also tried showing hidden files and system files in Windows, but nothing shows up in the DCIM folder.
Apps like EZ File Explorer and Quick Pic can access this folder just fine, but Windows cannot. Any Ideas?

Ok, this might be a little too standard but just to confirm, after you connect to PC, do you unlock your phone? (if you have your phone locked). If not, unlock your phone after connecting to the PC and check whether you can now access. Cheers:good:

So I had launcherpro and know that it needs an update, but the update is only available on the Android platform through the Market/website.... and I can't connect to the internet on my Android platform (my Rhodium has wifi problems), nor is it just downloadable off their website onto my computer.
Is there a solution to this?
REVISION: Ok download APK file for the latest one but I can't figure out how to install it into the Android platform. Do I just place it on the root of the SD?
I appreciate any help.
if you have any kind of file manager (let's say Astro) you can copy the apk anywhere you want and navigate to it using astro, and simply run it.
if you don't have a file manager (which i doubt since you seem to be using tiad's 1.21 or 1.23) you will have to use adb push command (you will need android SDK and ADB)
if you have chrome to phone use that
To elaborate on what farukb said involving adb, the command to install an apk stored on your PC would be:
adb install name_of_package.apk
so then if the apk of LauncherPro is named the default of "com.fede.launcher" then the command would be:
Code:
adb install com.fede.launcher.apk
To issue this command, you will need the Android SDK installed on your computer, which can be found here
You will also need to connect your device to your PC with a USB Cable and enable USB Debugging on your Android device which is found in Menu > Settings > Applications
i understand the process, but there's another problem. When in Android mode my phone doesn't connect to the pc.

turn it off and run windows, copy files and boot into android again
i'm really sorry for sounding like a noob. But I did all I can and I couldn't get it to install.
I'm going to list what I did so far:
I downloaded the APK file for launcherpro. I have it on my desktop.
I connected my phone to my computer (while in windows mode) and copied the file to two places: the Android root folder, and also to another folder labeled applications so I can access it in Windows mode.
I started up Windows, switched to Android and I cant' connect to wifi so I couldn't download the APK file... but I also couldn't connect with a USB cord while in Android mode.
I followed the advice and downloaded SDK Manager, but I can't type anything into the command prompt (nothing shows up while I'm typing) and besides my phone won't connect in Android mode.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "turn it off and run windows, copy files and boot into android again", where do i copy them to and how do i boot them in Android? Am I using the SDK manager wrong?
I appreciate all the help.

For ADB read this thread.
To automatically install apps when booting android, place your apps in AndroidApps folder. (I'm not sure if it works every time you boot or only when making a new data.img)
A bit cryptic header, but here's the problem:
Used the PC driver from the Toolkit.
USB error/test is enabled.
ROM: Probam 4.4.6
When I connect to my PC via USB, I can see the device in my explorer. I can copy files from/to the Note 2. But somehow it suddenly won't react anymore. It still is connected, but the files stop copying.
When I disconnect and reconnect the cable the device is found again and file copy can be restarted. But, when I change anything on the device, it just looks like the file structure is cached.
So, removing a file on the device itself won't be reflected on the PC. When I try to copy a file to the device which was previously removed on the device (and still visible on PC), the file copy will give an error, I suspect because it cannot find the file on the device.
Does anyone has a solution for this?
Hello. Im trying to root my N7 but my PC doesnt see it when I manually run adb or when I try auto root. I have done this before (when I first got it) without issue. Also I do have the drivers installed and the sdk so I am unsure why its not working. Additionally I tried on a 2nd pc and same thing. What am I missing? THanks!

Are you using the latest version of the Nexus Root Toolkit? It's got a driver installation guide to help these kinds of problems.
I often run into this with my Nexus 7. The two settings that have to be properly configured are enabling Android Debugging AND disabling Media device (MTP) in the storage settings (upper right hand corner - USB computer connection). Doing that usually allows the computer to detect the tablet as an ADB device, and go forward from there.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
thanks. downloaded the app but getting errors on my laptop (win8). will try on my pc tomorrow. also i should note that i have no problem seeing the nexus 7 in file explorer. i can move files without issue. Its only for adb that i cannot see it. i tried disabling mtp and going into fastboot mode but still no luck
thanks
I can't seem to get to all system files when i connect the s6 edge (5.1.1) to my computer. I have USB debugging on, but I still only see the storage files. On 5.0.1, when I had root, I could just plug in the usb, and I would have access to all the files. What am I missing here?
Using USB - C cable to connect my N5X to computer, but the computer won't recognize, load new drivers or anything. I vaguely recall having to set something on my old N4 so resolve this issue, but can't remember what it was. Is this because of the C cable?
Thanks in advance.
Did you checked the USB debugging and also set it to file transfer instead of charging??

Thx Leontine. I had forgot to enable USB debugging, although I am still having issues. When I select "Use USB for: Photo transfer (PTP), I can see the DCIM folder on my phone within Windows Explorer. But when I select File transfer, I don't see anything. What am I overlooking?

Sometimes your computer can install the wrong driver by default
Computer>Device Manager
Assuming you have downloaded the latest usb drivers from google
Find your android device right cllick update driver software> browse my computer >let me pick >Google Inc>Android ADB Interface>Should be good to go..
OR
You can use add on software something like pdanet+ and you should be okay

Yup. You have to manually select the USB mode every time you connect the phone to PC. It gets tiring quick, but not a deal breaker.
You shouldn't have to mess with the USB debugging feature at all. I was running into the issue where it would install the driver and even show "Nexus 5x" as connected but not show up in Windows Explorer, regardless of what connection I set the phone to. Connection settings are available by just pulling down the top menu once the phone's connected.
I went into Windows Device Manager (while the phone was plugged in) and uninstalled and deleted the drivers under "Android." When I then unplugged and plugged the phone back in, it worked. On a side note, it now isn't shown under USB devices or even in the Device Manager, but that doesn't really matter. It's showing up in Windows Explorer.

I'm still not successfully seeing my N5X in Windows Explorer when selecting File Transfer. Photo Transfer works. When I go into Device manager, I found my N5X (listed as a Portable Device and only seen when in PTP) and attempted to update the driver>Browse my computer>Let me pick...Don't see Android as a manufacturer. For what is it worth, I am running Windows 10.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
In the notification center you have to choose the connection mode. It isn't the same as in the developers options...
Thx AlphaGeekV2. From the notification pull down, I chose "File Transfers" but still cannot see my N5X in Windows explorer. Any other ideas?

Try it on a friend's system with W7 and see if it works there. If so, it's something with W10, and we can diagnose further.
