X5P Dual E6833: not getting latest firmware? - Xperia Z5 Premium Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently acquired one X5P Dual from Amazon France and the model received was the E6833. (would have preferred the E6883). As I am in Europe, I don't think it's a big deal not having the additional TDD LTE bands. I currently have firmware 32.0.A.6.170. I know that there is a more recent firmware around. Why am I not getting the latest firmware. Device says my firmware is up to date!
I'm in the UK btw.
Thanks in advance.

Just had a look on XperiaFirm and that is the latest version of firmware for either of the dual variants (E6833 or E6883) with the exception of the chinese E6883 being on .209 rather than .170.
I wouldn't worry as it's likely that the minor firmware upgrade was for bug fixes relating to the non-dual variant, otherwise they would all have it. Likewise you could peruse the forum to see if any users have flashed the .200 firmware to their E6833 device to see if they have experienced any ill-effects. I can't say I've noticed any difference between .170 and .200 on my E6853 (non-dual).
Interestingly the Japanese version is running 32.0.B.0.443 / R6B, whereas the full version number for the E68xx devices is 32.0.A.6.200... Don't know what the difference is between these firmwares...

A cursory google shows that 32.0.B.xxx is still Android 5.1.1 so probably a network specific firmware for Japanese UMTS networks.

The latest firmware for the Sony z5 / z5p line should be coming out some time in February from what i've heard. They getting ready to push out the Marshmallow 6.0 soon.

Not willing to try a flash on my new z5P Dual
No long for next firmware
Thanks guys!

About Baltic Firmware 2.67

Im living in Baltics. And my standard firmware would be GEN-BAL (SI=1270-7270).
So i am interested, how could I get this firmware?
Is there any difference between my usual US firmware and other firmware?
In this forum I couldn't find such an firmware! And in google there is only 3 results about 1270-7270 (GEN BALTICS)..
- And a side question: Is there difference between Xperia ZL model firmwares?
Can i flash for example C6503 firmware to C6506 (My)? And will it make some difference?
- I live in Baltics, so I don't have LTE connection possibility. - LTE gives me nothing!
Thanks..

[Q] Downloading older Firmware with Xperifirm

Hi,
I would like to go back to KK on my Z1C. I don't have the latest KK .157 Firmware anywhere. I now saw that Xperifirm does not offer to download that Version anymore for my customization. I usually use the generic DE or UK files. Is there a way to get to those old firmware files through Xperifirm or by some other way?
I could not find a generic .157 DE or UK file. I could use that as well.
Kind regards
Philipp
I wanna know this too.
Xperifirm use official Sony servers to download firmwares. But Sony remove old firmwares from its servers.
But, some old firmwares with a different customization (region/country/operator) could be downloaded with Xperifirm, just sort a list of firmwares by a version.

You are wrong, look to the attached screenshot. You should select D5503 phone model, after that press "Check all" button and then XperiFirm finish to update firmwares list you should sort the list by "Latest Release" field and you will see older firmware. For example, 14.4.A.0.157 is the Android 4.4.4 based firmware.

Yes and no. I agree you can see some 14.4.A.0157 but not for all regions, only for some strange one, which did not release update yet. If you want to have for your own region, like in my case eastern Europe I can only download the latest one
So ...?

The only way to download old firmware I found on sony site xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/46-sony-xperia-z1-compact-d5503
you can find also diffrrent models as well there
good luck
@oilman67, of course you can download old formwares from different sites, but my answer was about possibility of downloading of old firmwares from official Sony servers with XperiFirm tool.
And as I say later

You could use firmwares for different countries/operators in your country without any problem, just choose your native language. For example, now I use in Russia phone from Japan with a firmware customized for Japan operator NTT DoCoMo.
On xperiablog[dot]net[slash]forum[slash]resources[slash]categories[slash]xperia-z5-compact.95[slash]
you can find some older, but not all

BRE5

Unrooted Exynos model. Updated via OTA to BRE5 and now VoLte isn't working anymore. I'm on MetroPCS/T-Mobile. It was working fine on the last version.
Anyone experience the same thing?
Are you on G960F model?

Exynos is the international S9, chances are the CSC (Which controls features such as VoLTE) is wrong for your region if you are using a US carrier, not sure why it would have been working previously though as the firmware for Exynos does not include any US regions in the first place
Either flash back to the previous working version, or try flashing just the CSC from that firmware, or test a few other firmwares for that model S9

Safe to update to latest patch? Without breaking root / twrp?

Awful quiet around here guess everyone bought the tab s6!
I noticed an update available this August 2019. Has anyone flashed their tab s4 with Odin? And then rooted once again? I'm using a t835n and plan to get the t835 international version. But I want to be sure I can root after.
Another question - on sammobile they have so many different country options for the t835 international model. What is the actual difference? I use my device in USA so what would be the best version to flash so that I have the most bands for my carrier (TMobile). Or does flashing firmware not have the effect I am thinking on bands?
Thanks!

That's a very good question.
Are you on Oreo or Pie?
My guess, based on the rooting guides I've been reading is the one for the country that you bought the device from. I think you are on the Korean version, so I would think that would be the ideal update to use on the device and then just use it in English.
As for the S6, I'm inclined to buy another (3rd) S4 because the lack of the headphone jack is intolerable for me.
I will ask in the Note 9 forum, but do you happen to know the international version of the Note 9 that is the equivalent of the Korean 6GB Tab S4? They dropped the headphone jack on that one too. I use it to get radio on my phone.
So I rooted the Korean 6GB versions that was factory shipped with the most recent and up to date Oreo firmware and it rooted just fine. I'm missing a few apps but I'm not sure why that is (weird like missing email, internet, calculator, some google crap...). I'm trying to figure out why, but I NEVER let it connect to the internet for any reason yet. I sideloaded some of the apps and it seems fine. I'm going to check with my other Tab S4 6GB that is on the original stock firmware from the beginning to see if those apps were ever there in the first place tonight and post in the TWRP thread.
Root is fine. So I think you will be fine with the most recent firmware for Oreo. I suggest getting the Korean (region specific) firmware for your specific device.

It took me a little googling but it did turn up. Sammobile site didn't fine it for me, I had to google to get it, even thought it was still the samobile site where I found it. I didn't download any successfully yet.

OPX is a retail variant, so it's possible someone flashed a retail fw to get rid of bloat. Look by your charger port on your phone to confirm that you have an -04 (TMO) variant. If so, then search for "How to return to Stock" and you'll find everything you need to flash stock TMO fw. If you have anything else besides -04 then reply back with what you have.
As for installing lineage, as long as your device is bootloader unlocked, you should be able to get it sorted and install lineage.

Yes its -04 variant. now its confirmed that its tmo variant can i go further to upgrade it to PPX version? because i found out that there is a pie update for this firmware which is "NASH_RETAIL_9.0_PPX29.159-24_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml".
also as you said someone flashed a retail fw in my device so i can consider that bootloader of my device is unlocked, right?

There is no pie firmware for the TMO variant. If you flash any pie firmware you can kiss your baseband goodbye and enjoy your calculator. I don't know for fact that someone flashed a retail fw, I just know that TMO fw is OCX. To see if your bootloader is unlocked, reboot to bootloader and look. You should see flashing_unlocked if it is.

Well to be fair, I did install pie retail on my tmo and, after God only remembers how, I managed to comeback to life with imei and wifi. But yeah, I don't reccomand anyone to flash pie stock, unless I really hate that person ???
