Difficulty flashing OTA, OTA thinks It's 4.4.2. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having an issue flashing an OTA, (OTA_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_Orange_UK_4.19.61.3-4.19.61.2_release_446666.zip), I've checked the build.prop and that says I'm running 5.0.1, however the flash stops with a build fingerprint mismatch.
I've attached a picture. Any ideas on how to get over this?

Wrong stock recovery.img that you installed.
You need to install stock recovery.img 4.19.61.2 not 3.33.61.9 (the one that you currently have on device)
Get the correct stock recovery.img 4.19.61.2 (on post #4) in my thread linked in my signature

Before I do, I have two questions, I'm on S-off, as I had issues (it's been a while since I've tinkered with Android) patching because of my version. Can I still flash this? Also, it says it's modified (assuming you meant this: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934538955). How is it modified?

I got the recovery flashed, but now I get a different error. See attached.

That error means your current ROM is not stock enough. There will be more errors.
Get the non-rooted 4.19.61.2 backup from my thread and restore that and install stock recovery 4.19.61.2 then do OTA.

You say that, but there's three links
Current ROM
lyapota GPE 5.07.1700.9 MRA85K.H9
Alternate ROM
lyapota Sense 6.12.401.4 MRA58K
SkyDragon MM Sense 7
My TWRP Stock Nandroid Backups & Stock Recovery Collections
Which one?

Which one is "my" thread ?
Which one has the word "backup" ?
There's only one with "my" and "backup"

This is why, because control+F doesn't find it.
Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate all the help here, but hunting through 1000's of posts isn't exactly fun.
I'll use the thread search option

I found a backup on Mega with your name on it. Google seems to be better at find this stuff it seems.
https://mega.nz/#!S4g3SRRT!IfFwxkXW7KXh4OUklo3aFp6U7tltaxR9DuVxMmFn-YM

There is no need control+f, just click on the wordings and it opens the link ...
In fact you'll see that thread is 5 or 6 topic under yours.

TWRP keeps coming back with failed. I'm trying to flash 4.19.61.2_ckpv5.zip
Do you have the MD5 or similar for the file?

That's why you need to read my thread on how to use restore a backup.
I never write anywhere to flash but I wrote to restore.
Click (not control+F) on the link in my signature.

I should have realised it was a nandroid backup, not a flashable zip. My sincere apologies.
I thought it was corrupt, hence why I asked for the MD5.

I now have Marshmallow on my phone. Thank you!

I believe stock ROM and kernel work best with firewater. ARHD might be causing the issue.

Hi. So I ran the FUU full wipe and then the no wipe FUU in order to update the firmware to install the latest version of ViperROM. However in the process I lost everything, and since I do not have a backup on the phone it will not allow me to install the new ROM. Can someone please direct me to the files I need with my new firmware 3.28.401.7 to get a backup that I can flash to my device via fastboot. I already tried downloading Nandroid backups and flashing those. However the files were not in .img format and I tried to see if I could use the Nandroid backup with TWRP and no dice. Any help that can be provided would be appreciated. In the meantime I will go back to using my POS Galaxy S4 until I can manage to get this fixed.

First of all, shame on you.
Every ROM and MOD thread tells you SPECIFICALLY to make a backup before you flash in their OP.
Now...
What backups were you trying to use? Did you try @Mr Hofs stock backups?
Try this link.
What was your cid and mid? There are a limited amount of RUU files around the forum. This may be an option for you as well

I do understand that making backups is necessary. However I didn't think about it for flashing new firmware, nor did the instructions mention doing that on the ViperRom site here http://venomroms.com/viperonem8_3-0-0-requirements/ I did try using those backups in the link. However I am not sure if they would work with my CID being 11111111. In any case none of the unziped files were in .img when I tried using fastboot and when I tried to flash them with TWRP nothing went through. If there is something I am missing here let me know. Generally I do ok installing ROMs or mods. For me things just tend to get a bit messy when firmware is involved.

All of the stock backups I have downloaded are in zip format. Can I simply change them over to .img and then from there adb sideload them? If there is something I am missing I would love it if someone could help walk me through this. I already changed the CID so I should be good there.
The nandroid backups are in zip format. You need to flash TWRP recovery, boot into recovery and choosing the "Install" option just flash the nandroid zip. Do NOT unzip the file.

You should understand that flashing hboot is one of the riskier forms of phone mods. If you did not understand that, you should not have been doing it in the first place.
Further, recovering from no ROM is a basic process. Again, if you don't know how to do that, you should have been flashing firmware, which is significantly more advanced than just recovering from a simple case of no ROM.
Just adb push a ROM zip to the phone, or use a USB card reader to put one on removable SD. Then flash ROM in recovery.

Please stop spreading wrong info, a nandroid backup ALWAYS needs to be unpacked and placed in the correct folder structure. It will never work as a zip. Not sure where you got that info from ?

Problems to get stuck ota to work

Hello i got a massive problem getting my 4.4.4 ota to work. I found an old stock backup and everything seemed fine ota start downloading and whatnot. So the phone restart in recovery not in hboot and try to flash the download ota pack. But everytime it produces an error.

Having trouble flashing ota after returning to stock.

Hi guys. I need ur help on this one .
I've had the m8 since new and first things I did was unlock bootloader to install custom roms. The phone was never s-off !
So, I've been having connectivity problems and I have to bring it in to have it looked at. But my current provider(Eastlink) won't support rooted phones or phones with custom roms. So since last night I decided to put it right back to stock and update it. This is where I ran into problems and the problems I've found are most likely what is causing the initial connectivity problems.
So I restored my original nandroid backup, flashed original recovery and went to do the ota update which will update the phone to MM. But when it flashes the OTA it always comes up with a (status 7) installation aborted with this message ... (see pic) something about was expecting build fingerprint of htc/Rogers_wwe but mine has htc_europe.
Also, there is no OS version in bootloader(see pic).
Any help would greatly appreciated.
Thanks
You restored the wrong stock ROM and/or wrong stock recovery.
OS number missing is a symptom of using a very outdated version of TWRP (known bug).

I see you've had the device a long time, and unlocked bootloader right away. So you had an older version TWRP at one time, which wipes the OS number. Updating to a new TWRP does not fix the problem. The only way OS number will show up again is if firmware is installed by flashing firmware.zip, RUU, OTA, etc.

Also I wanted to mention was that I'm pretty sure I had the stock recovery which was on my computer with the htc m8 stuff since Jan, 2015. But that one doesn't seem to be working. But I could be wrong on that. It could be from a different phone now that I look at that folder more closely.

Hi ckpv5,
I installed one of ur stock recoveries 4.20.631.3_recovery from ur collection, and now I am getting this error while doing the OTA.(see attached pic).
Any ideas ?
Update ...
I decided to go and flash the firmware.zip file from within the OTA file. It flashed ok and I now have an OS version in the bootloder.
But now it won't go any further then going to the bootloader, which I have to force into. Goes to black screen.
I then tried to flash the OTA file the same way "fastboot flash zip RUU.zip(renamed) and it fails to flash. So now I am soft bricked.
Never been in this situation before and need some advice please !
Solved!
After flashing the firmware from the OTA zip file I forgot that everything would be wiped. So here's what I did ...
1. Unlock bootloader.
2. Flash recovery.
3. Restore nandroid backup.
4. Boot up then shut down and flash proper version of stock recovery.
5. Relock bootloader.
6. Install OTA !
Thanks guys for all ur help

Help needed - trying to load OTA Manually

following on from my earlier post (in the wrong section!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/help-changing-fw-t3446464
I have finally got the Voda AU FW working - I missed where I had to flash the firmware.zip from an OTA twice for it to work.
Now my phone boots into 1.21 - but the OS version listed in Download mode is 1.53? (i used the firmware from the 1.21 to 1.53 OTA).
How do I now apply the right OTAs to get me back to 1.80? I've loaded the stock recovery..... but when trying to flash the 1.21 to 1.53 update, it fails.....?
First of all firmware packages may not be full packages so flashing a firmware taken from an ota isn't recommended unless your on the firmware before the ota. Of course you can try. So your firmware is 1.53? Flash the stock system.img and boot for 1.53.710 then flash stock recovery. Once you boot to system you should be able to take the ota.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
So, if I boot up, in settings, it says 1.21, but in download mode, it says OS is 1.53.710.6
somehow what I did got it mismatched. i cant use OTA - says corrupt.
Your instructions still apply?
Also, then I would need 1.53.710 nandroid....anyone got a link to one?

Download mode is firmware. In the settings is software. I am pretty sure if you search the stock guides thread you will find the system.img and boot for 1.53. I think there is even one for 1.80.710. I would use that and also i would find the ota for 1.80 and flash the firmware from it. But like i said in first post firmwares from ota are not complete so you may have incomplete firmware.

I would ask someone to post a system.img and boot for the 1.80.710 hopefully someone will have it. If someone does post it then all you need to do is extract the 1.80 firmware from the ota and flash it.
