Need help getting back to stock.. - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the Wifi only variant of the Samsung Tab S 8.4. SMT700 from what I gather.
I tried downloading the file, and then flashing with Odin, and it worked. But when tablet reboots, it won't actually boot... just stays at "Samsung".
Did I download a bad file? I can't find any real legit download links that seem real and not suspicious. Can anyone help?

You should check out sammobile for a good and reliable firmware download.
www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Other things you should check are
- that you wiped all system, data, dalvik partitions before performing a clean flash as a dirty flash often gives you these kind of problems. I you didn't you can do it via recovery (you can also flash that via Odin)
-that the cable yuou are using is not broken or it doesn't disconnect on its own
-that kies is not running while using Odin

Thank you!
After staying up later than I should have I was able to fix it with Kies 3 and downloading directly from Samsung recovery install. It is working again . Thanks!

[Q] Phone really seems to be bricked

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help, but I'm not too optimistic. I have a SGH-M919 (T-Mobile Galaxy S4) that had a tripped KNOX bootloader and I had been installing custom ROMs on it. I wanted to ODIN back to stock, but it has caused all kinds of problems.
I was using ODIN v3.09 to ODIN the NB4 complete .tar file from Sammobile under the "AP" section with only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checked. It got what looked like about 95% complete and then showed FAILED. It gets to a point where it will say:
"Complete(Write) operation failed"
Upon rebooting, the phone says "Firmware upgrade ecountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
The phone will go into Download mode still but it will not go into Recovery mode.
After the above combination failed, I've tried using ODIN v.3.07 and v1.85, different official and unofficial firmwares (NB4, MK2, Fenny's NB4), tried various USB ports on my computer, and even tried another computer. Each time ODIN fails, and sometimes much earlier in the process.
I also tried installing using Kies after all of the above failed, but Kies will not recognize the phone at all.
Is it dead, or does anyone know of something else I can try? Upon my searching, most recommendations to "brick" problems seems to just be to ODIN like I did above =/.
Thank you for any help!
Have you tried flashing recovery and then booting right away to it?

I was able to flash a recovery, which is good news. The one I had on hand was Philz, which I could go straight into. Now I have a problem with /data not being able to mount, and no ROM I install from recovery seems to boot, even a full nandroid backup... Any ideas from there?
UPDATE: I flashed TWRP 2.5.0.2 and was able to format /Data, reinstalled a ROM, and it booted!! Thanks so much!!

ive read forums and trying different things for 6+ hours and was having no luck.
i read that someone took it to a best buy where they have a samsung kiosk because they can reflash the firmware.
i took it there but they were unable to reflash it.
they had the same problems i was having.
i literally just tried odin again and it worked.
i think mayb them hooking it up to their computer did something to it which then allowed me to get it to work.
if that doesnt work you can also send it back to samsung to have it reflashed,
both are FREE of charge. ( most people dont know that.
best of luck to you.
Hey sorry, have been swamped with work. Did you ever get it working or still need help?
Using ODIN to flash a complete ROM would always fail, bit have you tried flashing just TWRP recovery? For me that worked, and from there I could reformat the /data folder, and flash a new ROM in recovery. Never was able to use Odin for a full ROM but that method was good enough.

[Q] Bricked? Note 8 GT-N5110 stuck on boot loop

Hi all,
I've looked through several of the existing threads on the Note 8 and I've not gotten anywhere yet. I had the device happily rooted and working for months and then, stupid me, I used ROM manager to flash a new ROM this morning and on boot, it's stuck on the logo.
I CAN get to the recovery menu, but reset to factory default does nothing. I have wiped the cache from recovery and then tried to factory reset again; still stuck on logo at boot.
I can also get to download mode and have tried using KIES 2.6 (since KIES 3 is for Android 4.4.2 and up) and every time I try to do the update firmware/recovery, it starts, stops and says 'there is a problem with the download file' and then it quits.
I have tried using ODIN 3.7 and a few different recovery files but although it will say 'passed', on reboot, it's stuck on the logo.
Can someone help me, please? This is the only tablet I own and I really need it to not be a door stop
:crying:
not bricked yet, maybe. for now, try to download latest firmware from sammobile.com for n5110 and use odin to flash it.
about the factory reset of course it would still boot loop, you are trying to factory reset a bootlooped rom so it doesnt matter. you should flash a new zip through recovery.

Hi Mr.201,
Thank you for the suggestion. Question, when you say download the latest firmware, will it matter if I don't use the original? I ask because I've been trying to find the original firmware (stock) and while I've found many sites with GT-N5110 FW's, they are all coded for other countries; I can't seem to find one for US. So, if I use a newer firmware, will that work?
I can still get to recovery mode and download mode. I don't know if USB debugging is on, though, which I hope won't matter at this point. I can't remember if it was on when it died on me.
I appreciate your advice! Hopefully, I can get this thing going again. That would certainly make me a happy camper!
For some reason, the US version is labelled as "Cellular South" but in general, any 5110 rom will work, although there are some quirks with wifi frequencies between the North American and European roms.
My Note 8 got stuck in a boot loop. It was rooted/custom recovery/custom ROM. I tried some of things you did, and nothing worked. I ended up downloading and installing the ODIN one click recovery/un-rooted stock image from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2773712
This restores everything to stock (including the recovery). After flashing, it was still stuck in the boot loop. I booted into the factory recovery, and did a data wipe. After doing that, my note is working now. So ... doing this might be worth a try.
May I make a suggestion when flashing firmware... If you are flashing to something notreviously installed on the device. First flash with philz recovery and perform a full wipe for flashing new ROM. This way everything is clean for your flash to work properly.
A factory reset is not going to work as well for the new flash to take.

SM-T520 Softbricked, stuck on boot

I was trying to install a custom firmware and it failed for some reason. Now I'm stuck in on the logo.
I have tried about 7 or 8 different stock firmwares on Odin, 3 of them failed because they were the wrong region, and 5 were successful but still stuck in on the logo.
ROMS Tried:
BTU-T520XXUAOD2-20150603140459
T520UEUANI1_T520XARANI1_XAR
T520UEUAOD1_T520XARAOD1_XAR
T520UEUAND1_T520XARAND1_XAR
T520UEUANF4_T520XARANF4_XAR
T520UEUANK1_T520XARANK1_XAR
I read from another thread that all I have to do is clear the cache/dalvik cache. I tried to do this through adb but adb devices does not show any devices, it just comes up blank. Android Studio won't download platform tools or the Google USB drivers either so maybe that's why its not detected?
This tablet was purchased in the US.
If someone can provide me with a STOCK rom that will work or help me figure out adb to clear the cache that would be awesome.
Thank you!
You should only flash the region your device is made for. Hopefully you have custom rom like twrp, go into that and wipe delvic and cache , that may fix boot prob

I only flashed the UK ROM because I couldn't find the US ROM. It turns out that the US ROM is labelled "Cellular South" which is far from obvious. And in terms of TWRP I think that went away when I tried to flash stock. I can try to flash TWRP back with Odin tomorrow and see if it will take though.
Have you tried using Kies to do emergency restore? I had soft-bricked my 10.1 when I got it trying to root. Wasn't paying attention and accidentally tried flashing the CF-auto-root file that was for my phone (Note 4) to the tablet. Found the stock rom but all the ones I found was taking like 8-10hrs to download.
So i used Kies and under Tools, selected Firmware Upgrade and Initialization. PUt in my serial number and model number and had tablet in "Downloading mode" and was able to recover the tablet that way. When i tried doing the Emergency restore, it wouldn't recognize device as being connected so I had to try the other options for it work.

Is it the same problem as mine?
You might want to download official firmware of your phone from sammobile (According to country and network be careful with that)
Flash TWRP first so you can Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, System, Data. Android will be gone if you do this. No OS.
Then flash the official or stock firmware then check if it's successful.
Then root. Then flash TWRP again just to be sure then flash your custom rom.
its not how hard hit its how how you get hit and still move forward!
Alright .
Check baby Check.
got the original firm ware from sammobile now i will flash the twrp file clear the catch and then catch yall back here when i get results.
wont give up on this mobile haha.

I have a problem when updating an official ROM on the tablet tab3

Good afternoon,
I have a problem when updating an official ROM on the tablet tab3, the tablet has a custom ROM installed and I tried to do the following:
1.- Rootearla with the King ROOT application, made with success.
2.- I connected by Recovery and make the format factory and wipes, well after doing it and restart the tablet as if nothing, continues with the same ROM and does not delete any application.
3.- As apparently the recovery did not do anything, I decided to install the TWRP recovery via ODIN to see if it was solved and could leave the tablet as a new factory outlet, even though ODIN finishes all the steps correctly and does not give any errors. After completing everything correctly, I restart the tablet and my surprise that is also not let update Recovery.
4.- I try again to install an official ROM for this tablet and to do the reparticion again putting the corresponding pit. In ODIN everything is done correctly and all steps are completed correctly and the PASS message in ODIN appears indicating that the installation was successful, but when it restarts it follows the same ROM.
Can someone help me and tell me how to format the tablet or what happens? Because I do not understand the pass or because it does not leave nor return to factory values nor does it leave update recovery, nor eliminate the root ROM.
If someone can tell me if they have a solution I would appreciate it because I do not know what else to do to the tablet.
Thank you very much
regards
Which tab model and which custom ROM? Also, which version of Odin are you using?
