I accidently wiped /system
1.I've tried Odin, couldn't get it flash AT ALL. I don't know if its the zip or what. But i cant for the life of me get it to work.
2.I've tried sideloading, I'm not sure if that worked or not, after i did that, it wont go past the Samsung Galaxy note 4 screen, just keeps booting then stops and goes the battery charging screen(I'm assuming my OS is back on the phone? i also don't get the NO OS installed! error when booting up)
I'm completely out of ideas on what to do here.

I believe the Odin stock tar you're looking for is OK1 from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63868221&postcount=1
Most likely, the case is, you can't go from reactivation locked bootloader to reactivation unlocked bootloader. It's in the upgrade notes. Also check your phone display in download mode. If you were on one of those updates, your phone should say reactivation lock is disabled or something like that. It means the bootloader will allow a compatible flash. Enabled reactivation status would block even a compatible flash to protect original user from theft if he knowingly or unwittingly chose to enable it. You have to be careful because that's been described as an efuse. It could cripple your main board if flashing with it enabled. Maybe it takes multiple attempts to blow it, IDK but respect it... Try to get in the habit of checking phone display before Odin flashing.
Hopefully, it is not booting simply because there's still no OS. You wiped it and failed to flash because wrong tar was selected. I can say that the OB7 tar you flashed has a non-reactivation locked bootloader. So you cannot go backwards in Odin to it, if that's the case.
If your looking to flash an older ROM in recovery from the reactivation bootloader, it's been reported to be possible if you flash a 5.1.1 kernel after the old ROM flash in recovery. Stability and compatibility may vary by user and ROM. The question was even asked in this forum-KitKat Bobcat ROM IIRC- if possible to flash KitKat ROM and then Lollipop Android Touchwiz kernel and confirmed by at least one user. Nonetheless, no reason to doubt that but I recommend latest custom ROMs for compatibility.

Tried 0din, and the same error comes up as the post before.
Tried Kies but I need s/n and I don't have my box and no s/n on the back behind my battery.
currently downloading sammoblie rom. Hopefully this works.
the only other thing I can think of is putting a rom on my SD card and installing from TWRP

That may work too if you flash the right kernel with it. Well, that applies only if using an older ROM as I mentioned in my first reply... Did you read it yet?
BTW, KIES usually does that for rooted phones. It may only work if you set it up with same phone before root but unsure.

That's OK, don't need it. That confirms you have you a newer bootloader. That tar is blocked in Odin, for you. Best to move forward with Odin rather than backward.
Some stock tars later than OB7 have even been reported to be blocked but being on OK1, I only know I can go back OJ6 in Odin. Didn't try another because of that fact and OJ6 and OK1 are the best lollipop updates, IMO.

Finally, the Captivate Glide is successfully rooted.
Credit:
lambgx02 who provided the Carrier IQ free kernel (by Rogers) and the insecure kernel and the Rogers rooted ROM!!!
ardatdat who provided the rooted ROM and the overclocked kernel
samsfirware.com that provided the firmware without which nothing would have been possible
myself, crazy tester who bricked his device
Very easy steps:
If you are on Rogers, no need to flash the kernel, it is already CarrierIQ free
Download Odin 1.85
Download the CarrierIQ FREE kernel (zip file) or the overClocked version of it.
Download the rooted ROM (AT&T based ROM)
or the Rogers rooted based rom (Unzip with WinRAR not 7zip)
Unzip the file and keep the .tar, that the file you are going to push to your device
Put your phone in Download Mode:
Turn off the phone
Press volume UP and keeping the button pressed, press the power button
a screen should ask you if you wanna continue - press volume up to confirm
Launch Odin
in PDA, select the first kernel downloaded (tar file you just unzipped)
DON'T SELECTor UNSELECT ANYTHING ELSE
Press the start button
Wait for your phone to reboot
This kernel will remove any traces of CarrierIQ, and you are now free from AT&T Spyware
IF AND ONLY IF this flashing fails, try the exact same steps with the insecure kernel
Reboot your device into download mode again (steps above)
Flash the rooted rom
Go to the market and make sure you have the latest version of superuser
go to superuser, check you have "su" updated
You're now rooted!
For any other questions, watch this first PLEASE:

Nope, you should get PASS in green color if successfully flashed. Try to open odin as administrator (right click, run as administrator) and make sure your device was detected properly by windows & Odin while it is in DL mode.
Sorry my guide was not complete, the kernel is not rooted, it is a CarrierIQ free kernel but the rom is rooted.
As soon as we have the kernel rooted, I will post it here.
I know that they need their space, I already told others to leave it alone, I was just trying to keep it from being cluttered. I am sorry guys good luck!!!

I still get the same error and now my phone won't even boot.
It says to use Kies to recover but even that won't recognize the device even though windows does pick up the drivers.
I can get to either the Kies screen asking to restore a bad image or the Custom rom screen and that's it.

Hey, wait a minute.. I provided the rooted rom..
But in all honesty, that's the easy part. Those nagging Samsung, the testers risking their devices, and of course, the OP who finally found the stock firmware images deserve the credit. Not to mention sammobile.com / samfirmware.com.

The rooted rom here is not yours but the one from ardatdat
But does not really matter, you both did a great job!!
I'm on Rogers. I'm using the lambgx02's Tar file.
I also just got my phone to recover following the other thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357369
about going into 3e recovery mode and doing a reboot and it started fine.
I think the first time I tried, I didn't have kies installed with all the proper drivers.
Should I give it another go?
Update: Tried again, same Fail error. Maybe I'll try using my computer at work instead of my older home laptop.
Recovered again using 3e.

Nope; it only flashes /system. Your data partition stays in-tact.
Of course, any time you mess with the device internals, there's a risk, so I'd highly recommend backing up anyway.
We can have an ezroot kernel if we either set the /system partition. As rw (read/write) instead of read only or set in the default.prop the following: ro.secure=0 & persist.service.adb.enable=1, then there's root in "adb shell" to remount the system partition as rw.
Is it a boot.img or initram packed zImage we're dealing with?
I installed

Use the one-click method to get you back to EL29, since you're coming from an ICS ROM back to GB you should use the full rather than the no-data. One you've done that, then download and extract the autoroot tool and follow the prompts to get you to the unrooting. Make sure you have USB debugging turned on before using autoroot.

When you plug the phone in while in Odin mode, are you getting the yellow highlighted box with COMxx in it to indicate the computer is recognizing your phone?
Another possible path is to pop out your sdcard, put it into the computer and load up some files that can be flashed via recovery (if you have recovery installed) then reinsert the card, hold power and volume up button to boot into recovery and flash a new build that way.
I've been trying to use the one click option, my phone is recognized but it won't proceed to completetion, i guess it's bricked. Is there anything i can do?
So let me get this straight. You put your phone into Odin/download mode, start the one click, and it fails? Does Odin notice your phone while in Odin/download mode?

Okay if it is recognizing your phone then try downloading another one-click and using it, or even re-downloading the same one you already have.
So even if my device is bricked it will load this, as long as odin recognizes it?
I recently acquired an Epic 4G Touch that wouldn't boot into the stock ROM. I thought "Awesome! The ROM must be corrupted. I'll just Odin it back to stock and have a new SG2." Well, I tried Odining it back to stock. I tried the Gingerbread EL29 stock tar image and it hung on the Sbl.bin. I thought maybe my download was just corrupt but after trying 2 other GB odin images it still wouldn't flash. Then I tried flashing CWM recovery through odin and that hung at NAND Write Start. I've switched cables, USB slots and computers. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. I would really like to get this phone running so I can upgrade my SGS1.
Edit- Just to clarify, I never tried to flash anything through CWM. I tried flashing a kernel that had CWM through Odin.
I put the ROM into the PDA slot. Here's what happened in Odin:

What exactly is happening with the device when you try to power it on?

Agreed.
Op - You're trying to write to the phone and, my guess is, you're making a bad situation worse since your getting partial writes. Especially that first screen where pit was mapped and partial flash took, such as boot.
Dont know where crawrj is, but try reaching out to Garwynn. He knows A LOT.

What? When did I say I was flashing through CWM? I've never even been able to boot to CWM. I said I was trying to flash CWM through download mode which failed. When I try to boot, it sticks at the Samsung Galaxy S2 kernel load screen. When I try to boot into recovery it sticks at the Samsung Galaxy S2 kernel load screen.

Sorry. I misread the OP.
Ok. Try this to get into Recovery
Press and hold the vol up+power button until the splash screen shows up
After the splash shows release the power button and then continue to hold the vol up button. It should take you right to recovery.

I've done this atleast 20 times (21 now after this post) and it just sticks at the Samsung Galaxy S2 screen. I'm sure I screwed it even further by trying to flash CWM recovery. When I first got it, it booted into the recovery screen but wouldn't actually fully load into recovery. I would just get the Android character but no text. These are the weirdest issues I've ever had with an Android device.

That is very strange...
Do you have an external SD card installed? If so, remove it and try to boot into recovery again.

Still no luck :|
It fails every time it trys to flash files to the NAND memory. Does this mean the internal storage is screwed?

That is possible. You can try to call Sprint and tell them you/a friend was trying to update to ICS and rebooted and it wont boot fully. Act dumb and see if they will replace it. Since it won't boot to anything at all, there is really no way for them to tell. Just say that you bought it from said friend. It is worth a shot. I have done it before with AT&T when I screwed up a Captivate doing a hardware mod.
I just told them that I bought it online and tried to update it but after the update, it wouldn't power on. They let me replace it.

Either that or try J-Tag. But I don't know if that will fix it.
That and it's 50 bucks and a time to wait..

OK I will definetly try that, thanks. If they don't replace it, I will just sell it for parts and keep using my Epic 4G. Thanks for all of your help
Wait oh wait I have a few questions myself lol what odin are you using? Did you try any one clicks? Did you try removing the sd card and then odin? Did you try to leave battery out all night then try odin again with no sdcard?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I tried 2 different versions of Odin;1.x and 3.x. I used multiple one clicks. I pulled the sd card before flashing. I had to buy a battery for it when I got it and the previous owner had kept the battery out of it for at least a month. I really appreciate all answers but I really feel like I've tried everything :|

It is possible using a pit file would help. The pit file from when this phone came out would be best. Then run a gb rom in odin along with the pit. If you find the pit link it here before you use it. Wouldn't want more problems.

One Click restores are built with the proper pit of 9-16-11. But it sounds like he's already tried multiple builds.
Flashing each component isn't a bad suggestion but with using the pit, I wouldn't necessarily use just a rom, I'd use a tar since it would contain everything needed to restore the bootloader (boot, Sbl, param, recovery..)
Or try flashing an built bootloader to see if he could get back into recovery alone. There are a few already made in RWilco's Repo..
Hello everyone,
I have an issue and I'm hoping that someone could maybe point me to the right direction: I was encrypting my S3 (i747M, running stock 4.4.2) with the options that are available through the Security menu in Touchwiz, and one of the requirements was that the phone be plugged through the encryption process as it needed a minimum of 80% battery. While I started the process, my phone was plugged and it was going on for about 2 minutes, when it fell from my table and got unplugged.. The back of the phone opened and when I restarted it, it never went past the part where before booting, it asks for a password before proceeding.
So, now the phone doesn't boot anymore.. I guess it's worth mentioning that I do have access to both download and recovery mode.
What I have tried to do so far has been:
Cleaning cache and dalvik and wiping the phone: nothing
Trying to flash the stock 4.4.2 ROM via Odin: nothing
Tried flashing another ROM via Philz, such as CM or Carbon: still nada..
If anyone could weight in and maybe provide any assitance or point me to the right direction, it would be tremendous help!
Thank you!
Did you format Dalvik, cache, data, and system before trying to flash a custom ROM?

Yup, I did. I did wipe system with the philz function to wipe before flashing a new ROM, but incidentally neither Carbon or CM have flashed properly.. I get a little android laying down with a red triangle.. I hadn't realize that before.

I don't use Philz as I prefer to do each step using Touch CWM. Not sure what to suggest. Hopefully, someone with encryption experience will respond to your post.

Nope, I hadn't try that but thank you, I definitely will give it a try and report back.
EDIT:
It didn't work.. I get this error message:
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..

I flashed after the stock md5 through Odin without the re-partion thingy checked and it flashed, but I get back to the booting part where I'm asked for the password to decrypt the phone, and it just reboots after that..
Anything else I could possibly do?
Try flashing like before with re-partition checked, but this time also click the PIT button and use this file.

Might not work, but could be worth a shot if the encryption is interfering with the internal pit on your device. If so, perhaps using one like this will work....?
Beyond that I'm just not sure. But if I think of anything I'll let you know.

That you for the pit, and sorry I got back to report so late. I flashed the pit but I think since it wasn't an i747m pit it didn't work properly.. The phone no longer booted so I followed a "debricking" guideline I found on another post and now I can access download mode at least. Other than maybe trying with a, 747m pit what do u think my choices are? Just to JTAG it?
Thank you

I suggest getting into download mode and trying to flash a full i747m ROM again in Odin.

Oh man! I'm really sorry about that! I must have been thinking it was the I747....
Do as audit13 suggested though. Flash your stock 4.4.2 firmware via Odin and it should get it working again.

Thank you again. I'll try flashing the stock version again and I will report back. Should I try it without the PIT?
I would. I don't see it making anything worse to try it. If you can get a pit from another I747m, you could try it with that one. Obviously, don't use the one I gave you again!
If you know someone with the same model, I can help you get a pit from that device if you can't find one somewhere around here.

Sorry for the so late reply, but I had to travel for work and wasn't coming here. As a matter of fact I do have a second S3, and i747M also that I could retrieve the PIT from. Could you guide as to how I can do that please? Thank you!

Thank you for the suggestion. I was able to resolve it in the end I had done that before, but I was unable to get past the samsung logo, because I was missing the correct .PIT i believe. What I ended up doing was flashing stock firmware downloaded from sammobile via Odin and, using the stock recovery, I wiped data / factory reset and it worked! For some reason it didn't and hadn't work with a custom recovery, although I was doing the same process.
Thank you for everyone who helped with this!
Hello,
So I installed the Rainbow 7 rom and it worked great for 2 days. Next thing I know Im stuck at the Samsung note 2 screen. Im like OK lets open TWRP and restore from Backup. Some how I manage to erase the OS and now I can't even return to Stock. When I try to flash tar I get failed. Phone does go into download mode fine and recovery. TWRP shows my sd and internal as (0) MB but when I use my ext sd card on pc all files are there so cant flash via recovery. Kies does not work either I tried the latest version of TWRP via Latest version of ODIN nothing file is good then I get The Below with OH3

I have always been able to restore my backups or flash back to stock but this time in Stuck. Any Thoughts?
TWRP states no OS found even if I wiped all of the system and data files Should I not be able to go back to stock ? I've tried NE2 and OH3
I have searched and searched and tried but nothing seems to work. If it boots to download mode and recovery it's not a hard bricked it ??
FYI I have tried 2 pc's using different ports and different cables also

You could always try to Odin back to stock. Since you can get into recovery i imagine you can get into download mode. Its worth a shot before you order a board and open the phone. Link for the process I was suggest the PC version

Thanks I'll Give it a shot but it has failed in the past
I dont know if this matters but according to the rainbow 7 install instructions I was supposed to have bootloader of 4.3 or newer.. if i didnt could. This be the cause of everything. I can't believe there isn't a way to fix this without changing the board.
It could very well be why it fails the link above was to the 4.4.2 bootloader if it doest help or fail I have no idea about swapping out the board. I've replaced antanneas and ifixit has a complete teardown of the phone https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_II hope you figure it out. Sorry I wasn't much more help

Yes a new logic board should fix your issues. Just remember you'll have to activate that one because it's a totally different meid/esn. I had to swap one on an s3 because of a bad port. Sure it's similar too since it's Samsung.
