CM 13 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I installed CM 13 on my G3 when it first got out, and it was full of buggs but very fast. I want to install a newer version of CM 13 again now. Did they fix the bugs? Thanks

A number of bugs have been fixed. You can view the CM13 changelog for the G3 here (change to whichever model you have)...
http://www.cmxlog.com/13/d851/

Do you know if CM13 fixed the bug relating to bluetooth low energy mode that was an issue in all 5.X AOSP roms? I'd really like to be able to use my heart rate monitor. I'm on a stock-based rom until then.

[Kernel][CM12] - For F240x - updated [08/02/2015]

thought this should help all of us F240 out there, at last, someone made a CM12 kernel for f240, got this from chinese F240 forum, according to the author its a custom job combining the official E980 CM12 ramdisk and cantata kernel, includes call Volume fix patch from wangsai008
recommend a clean wipe, install a cm12 rom and any 5.0 gapps (i used minimal ones), then apply this patch at last
i've installed on TWRP 2.8.1.0 with official E98x CM12, had no issues personally, sound, gps, youtube, deep sleep works fine, didnt test BT, your mileage may vary.
should work for all F240 variants, test and see
EDIT:updated 08/02/2015 to match current official CM12, should fix compatibility issues on newer nightlies , test and see(like deep sleep)
is Batery good ?

Be wary friend, you lack sources and mod may remove your thread for that.
On another note, where can I get my hands on the official F240 ramdisk? I have been looking to support F240 devices with my kernel but have been unsuccessful thus far.

yes i know but due to the sources in chinese and the download requires password it didnt seem easy to link to, i thought alot of people must be after it so i decided to share separately instead
as for official f240 ramdisk, not sure if 5.0 is even out, but mostly custom jobs like in Blisspop for f240 or the one i uploaded

But okay, I'll dig around some more. Thank you!

You made a kernel for f240? Perhaps you can help me! How did you do it? Ramdisk changes? I already have a defconfig for f240.
report
First of all, thank you for your great work.
It's been working great with f240 so far until cm12 nightly 20150202.
But it is broken since 20150203, systemUI keep terminates.
update kernel please
theres 2 new roms by wangsai008 which updates f240 kernel on latest cm12 rom and newest Mokee version for f240
its not straight forward download and is in chinese, keep eyes peeled ill make a new thread soon.
updated kernel uploaded

im confused, can you do fresh install from wipe and install cm12 ONLY, over write with blisspop then cm12 thats just asking for nightmare
i cant guarantee blisspop but the kernel was made partly from official CM12 rom(e980), even though blisspop is cm12 sourced, i still recommend backing up your blisspop rom, test with official cm12 from clean state, do not dirty install between different roms.

Problems and upgrading to cm 13

How can i fix overheating without lowering performance will it help if i upgrade to cm 13 btw does anybody have gapps for cm 13 d855 i just want playstore and calanders and usefull stuff an other question if i forxe res down to 1920x1080 will any app break or will it come with downsides

what is the best Rom i can go with Marshemello 6

im planning to root the the phone....dont wanna go to 7....wanna see the rom and rooting first with android 6
what is the best option for this phone on 6 ?
To be honest, there is no "good" Marshmallow ROM for this phone.
The stock ROM is a nightmare, regardless of whether you use the Marshmallow or Nougat one.
The "best" ROM in my eyes is the newly released Oreo AEX alpha build posted by Firelord, the only downside it has is that fixing the LED lights on it is a bit of an hassle and that NFC isn't working (yet).
If NFC is important to you, you should go with Firelord's Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 build, that one has working NFC and the LEDs can be fixed the same way as the Oreo build.
The main reason I suggest you to go custom ROM here is because the stock ROM itself has a series of critical bugs that I consider even more severe than the two I just mentioned.
If you are into mobile gaming with a gamepad for example, forget about doing it on the stock ROM, as Lenovo has done something to the framework that makes every kind of HID interface freeze randomly.

thanks for your info....i dont care about NFC or even LED also.....all i want it is a great rom with no battery drain or bugs..working normally and good cpu+ram management... >>> to start fixing the audio problem
Any Suggestion ?
You dont want Marshmallow because of nonce krack buig. Amazes me how open source can break in newer versions.
My paranoia says Gov agencies wanted this bug in the newer Android software.

List of roms with "Novatek NT36672" touch screen module support so far.

UPDATE: There is a telegram group with latest nightly builds of genom kernel, they are mostly stable, there may be a couple of ussues with some of them (like phantom touches or random battery inefficiency), however you can find kernels that support our touch panel in android pie, and oreo roms, and they run butter smooth compared to stock rom, (thank you rama982 and all contrubutors to Genom kernel). Just download a kernel build you like, and then flash it after the installation of rom. genom_ci
It has been an issue for a long time, since Xiaomi refuses to release kernel sources for this module (or so i been told), anyways, many people encouter the issue with touch screen that doesn't work after flashing custom rom (screen flickering, response lag e.t.c). This issue was brought up in this thread, however there is no answer to a question that excites most of "novatek" owners that are here - "what can i actually install of all roms". I decided to make a list of roms that happened to avoid this issue, i hope this will help users like me, so they don't have to spend literally weeks stalking, testing, looking around at all sorts of places only to find another rom that doesn't work.
1. This is the easiest one, all MIUI roms that are available for our device are working flawlessly, official global roms, custom ones, they all work (i personally prefer Revolution OS MIUI 8.10, since it has an option for the chinese bloatware and spyware to be removed, and i find it the fastest one).
2. Almost all nougat roms ( the ones that are based on android 7.1, (and maybe 7) ). Or at least 95% of them, i had issues with some of them, but it's okay that some roms are less stable than the others, you will have to find what works best for you.
3. As far as i remember, all roms based on android 8, 8.1 DO NOT work with our touch screen, except the ones that were mentioned here.
4. Who wan'ts a piece of a pie? I think everyone, but not all of us can get it, since there is only a couple of pie roms that work with our panels:
Aosp extended 6.0 (only 28/10/2018 release so far, developers told that they will fix it but they didn't so far, this release is pretty stable and snappy though).
Dirty Unicorns 13.0
(I really like the esthetics of this rom, and a philosophy that stands behind it, but release is missing some important features for me personally.)
lineage-16.0-20181115 (As stable as aosp extended, or even more. Perfect rom for a new user that doesn't care about a lot of features, and just wants to do basic stuff without any bugs and crushes) (IMO)
GZOSP from Here, it's even more simple compared to lineage, but a a bit less stable.
Thanks to rama982 we have Nitrogen Os, it works fine, things are strating to change. (Live a like to Rama982).
This list is potentially suitable for EBBG touch panel users, but as i have no device on hands to test it, i can't say anything about it. If you are wondering wich type of touch screen you have, you can dowload AIDA from play store, or any other "sysinfo" type of app.
That's all. I hope this will help you, it's the smallest thing i can do, as i love the community of this place even more than my morning coffee.
P.S. If i missed something, you can comment down below, or send a private message, we all make mistakes.

Try LOS16, Havoc, or Bootleggers - or try the latest Genom kernels.
I tried out AEX 10-28 for a couple of days. i went back to xiaomi eu beta for full screen navigation. i also opted for genom eas nightly for miui. i think i'll stick with this setup for a while.
Can i use genom kernel nightly on pixel experience rom to support novatek panel?

Yes tried many, including this.
It crashes as soon it is launched.
Try Open Camera... Its open source and pretty good! I use it daily.
Sent from my Note 5 / 5 Plus using XDA Labs
In case anyone is interested, nitrogen os is working great on my ebbg display
i've tried pixel experience like @jharone23 said and it's working fine. i also installed genom nightly and it runs smooth. i think they worked out most of the kinks for novatek panel. i haven't tried the 12-31 build of the rom yet. gcam v5 works great. i also installed gcam v6 for better back cam low light and i'm satisfied so far. no problems with gps and lte. no network drops on wifi and data. i have mine rooted and installed kernel aduitor, also installed blex and youtube vanced from magisk repo. google backup works like a charm. played ro mobile for 4 hours straight on wifi. everything is great. note for benchmarkers, you would get lesser score in antutu compared to xiaomi eu rom with genom. i used to get 84k score with that setup but with p.e. and genom i only get 80k with performance setting in kernel aduitor. overall a 4/5 stars for user experience just because i was accustomed to full screen navigation in mi eu rom. A 5/5 stars in stability kudos to p.e. developers and genom. i won't be flashing any other rom for quite sometime as my current setup is stable enough as daily driver. maybe t.s. could include rom in the list. thanks jharone23 for the tip.

Everything about vince (updated 24/6/2021) (new Revenge os)

Revengeos 4.0
i tried this rom few days ago and it's the most optimized rom ever due to it's kernel (starlight r2 kernel) which is not released yet as a custom kernel to flash (r2 not r1)and due to it's fluidity, less features and no customizationsdon't change the kernel of this rom if you installed it's the best for vincelink:https://sourceforge.net/projects/re...0-R-OFFICIAL-vince-20210513-1423.zip/download
All other roms with Android 11 still not optimized yet and have lagbut if you want another good rom you can try :havoc 4.6 (latest)nusantara (latest)
but remember Android 11 is not for gaming on vince it's just a smooth daily driver
Android 101-havoc os 3.11 or 3.9 (there is no big difference between them)2-nusantara a10 (lts or eol)
3_corvus os a10
android 9
1-aosip pizza by kenn2-havoc 2.9
Kernelsfor battery : DarkagesFor performance: unitrix perd 3.0 or sleepyfor balance : stormbreaker
......If you have 3g ram don't ever use miui based rom it will lag like android zombie
And for 4g ram the best miui based rom is one miui (you can find it in telegram channel of vince official miui roms)
and it will lag too because miui is a sh*t

where do i find it?
.
thanks brother

yes , just zoom 1.1x and it will be fix
I can't record videos, you don't know why that is
It is a problem in most of roms So use any app It is always better than stock recording
but it doesn't let me record on others like instagram or whatsapp
updated
.
I think the problem I had to record is caused by the kernel.
.
Sleepy kernel has additional magisk module for some ROMs out there like this:
Sleepy Powerhint v1
Did you flash it too when you tested the ROMs?
Do you think it will affect the result?
And also the most important thing, do you face camera focus issue using GCam?

Yes i did and it has recording issue (you can't run any screen recorder app or the system recorder and it's not smooth at all just sleepy r9 the only good version of sleepy kernel
And it lags alot in opening camera and closing
And Google freezes in video chat like omegle
So it's not good at all

1-flashing firmware is not necessary so flash it if you face some problems after flash rom like internet issue etc.
(flash it before flashing rom)
