I just moved from the US to London. Been using the One X now for about 3 weeks and have loved it. I still do some banking with ING Direct that has a new application out to deposit checks via the camera. But it says it isn't available in my country. Is there a good way around this?
Could try Market Enabler but bar that I doubt it
My answer comes a bit late but it might be useful for others. I had the same problem as you except that it was between France and Taiwan (where one cannot download paid application even if you bought then before).
The solution is simply keeping your old simcard !
Since I've put my new local simcard in my phone, a Fareastone, I got the market restriction. But as I put my French simcard in it, a Bouygues Telecom, everything comes back.
It appears that even if my French simcard doesn't work anymore (I've canceled the contract), it still remove the market restriction. Hope it helps
Hi, I've come from a Z2 as couldn't get on with it. So far I'm very impressed with G3, though when in the shop I saw it had an option on the lockscreen to tap the numbers 1-4 in succession and the numbers appear in a bubble and they move across the screen as you tap a number. I presume it was a version on knock on. I assume it isn't carrier specific but I do not have it on my unbranded G3 (Its runnning V10L). I'd hate to come across as a noob but has this option been replaced by updated firmware? The only other option I can think of is it is some sort of demo function for use in stores.
Thanks for any assistance...
Ross
Carrier Specific
Well to be honest I've flashed almost all the firmware that LG has released and I have never seen that before, so I'm thinking that it may have to be carrier specific and by the way I have the D855 unlocked international version. I hope that I helped you.
Hi I am pretty sure that is a demo function to show people how the knock-on works.
For the real thing, it will not be much of a pass-code if the phone shows you the sequence to knock!
i got the unlocked version of fire phone, but doesnt seem to be working on airtel/vodafone India
i can see the network connected, but cant make/receive any calls ; same with sms
data seems to work though
calling 911, works i.e. atleast gives me a network operator error that the number is invalid; all other number the call just ends
any idea, how to get this working ? i have even tried to factory reset but doesn't help
amazon support, was not able to help; they just said its US compatible only and asked if i wanted to return the device
The phone supports the following frequencies and bands: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz), Quad-band GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 9 bands of 4G-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20), supports carrier aggregation
What frequencies are used by the carrier your having problems with? Also, make sure the SIM is inserted correctly. The contacts go down and the cutout faces away from the phone.
facing the same issue
Hi,
I am also facing the verify same issue, I am able to see the carrier and get signal but am unable to make/receive calls.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Is there any settings that need to be changed ?
:crying:facing the same problem, if there are someone really out there who can help us please do....
CAll Amazon
I called up amazon with the same issue. They accepted the fact that there are many with same problems in India. They are working on a fix and will keep me updated. They added my serial number and registered account to the internal Ticket created for this issue. I recommend you all to do the same and get added.
Moreover, they took some debugging data from my phone after approval so I belive you guys should do that to provide them with more data to fix this issue.
Will it not get activated automatically for Indian users
Rather than providing data to them
Nano Sim
Did you try using a new nano sim from the carrier? There may be an issue if older micro sims are used after cutting into nano sims.
Got a new nano sim from vodafone
I got a new nano sim from vodafone and its still the same .
Now only daru666 can help by letting everyone know what feedback he has from Amazon and if it works.
What should we do ? I am sure some update from Amazon technical team can fix this issue....
Anyone tried it in Delhi. Even if voice works, I am fine with the phone.
I can return it it next few days, so any confirmation would be very helpful...

An issue could be that the IMEI code of fire phone is not under registered or under whitelist category of Indian operators. Hence not able to make calls.
For this to happen, amazon will need to give IMEI list to the operators here to add to whitelist. Or it can also be checked with the operators if they recognize the IMEI nos of fire phone.
That would be helpful to us
Did anyone try flashing an android ROM to make it work in India?
Or is this lock hardware controlled?
Same Problem
Same problem....... :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Not working with INDIAN SIMCARD.
Loved the mobile But .....................
Shall i return it (or) keep it..........?
Hello Guys,
Please send an email to [email protected] with the below details.
Amazon needs the following details to find a solution to this issue.
1) Name of network SIM used
2) Did the store/anyone cut the SIM to get it to nano size?
3) Help us by providing logs of your Fire Phone.
To send us logs, please follow below steps:
1. Press the Home button.
2. Swivel your phone or swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Actions panel, and then select the Search icon (magnifying glass).
3. Type ";dm" (without quotation marks) into the Search field. You can find the ";" key by tapping the “?123” key.
Tip: If ";dm" is auto-corrected by your device, tap "dm" in the word choices that appear above the onscreen keyboard.
4. Tap the Search key (magnifying glass), and then wait 60 seconds.
5. Connect your device to your computer using a micro-USB cable. When your device is plugged into your computer, it appears as a removable mass storage device.
6. Open the Fire phone folder (titled "Fire") on your computer, and then open the "Internal storage" folder.
7. Open the “KindleLogs” folder. Drag each of the files within this folder to your desktop.
Note: If you only see "DCIM" and "Pictures" in the "Internal storage" folder, this means your computer recognizes your device as a camera. To change the USB connection type, open the Quick Actions panel on your Fire phone, tap the "Connected as Camera" notification, and then select File Transfer.
8. Reply to this e-mail and include the logs as an attachment.
The total size of the attachment(s) must be less than 6 MB. You will need to send separate e-mails if the size exceeds 6 MB.
After you've e-mailed the log files, delete them from your Fire phone.
LET ME KNOW WHAT RESPONSE YOU HAVE FROM AMAZON ON THIS.
What is the response from Amazon???
I am also facing a similar situation
Amazon is casually asking me to return the phone and get a full refund. The refund process also looks too complex. Why it isnt working in India alone? They told me that
Although, the Indian carriers provide the network bandwidth which is required for the Fire phone, IMEI's of the Fire phones were not added to the carriers outside the US, so currently the Fire phone will not work with the carriers outside US.
When pressed if they would even rectify it by mid next year, they said that currently they arent working on it. They call a phone which doesnt work with any sim other than the U.S. an unlocked one. Still they are selling the phone at $449 calling it unlocked and when people face an issue they say its Unlocked only in the U.S. This looks like a complete fraud.
Any updates?

We should press amazon to find a solution to this and deliver a fix ASAP considering how big the Indian market can be for them for their inventory of fire phones that are unsold. Moreover, Motorola had similar issues with Moto E And Moto G and they had worked out a solution in 15 days. Amazon can also do the same provided they are serious on fixing the issue.
From what I understand, they need to give an update list of fire phone IMEI's to the Indian carriers who will update their systems accordingly.
The more all of us push, the more we have a chance that Amazon acts faster.
Which variant should I get? I just walked out of the store (Almost bought one) and they are telling me that it's a dual SIM. I honestly like the idea but I have several requirements which my next several questions are about.
Is ROOT, Busybox and a custom recovery available for this device?
In relation to question 2, is Xposed available for this device?
Is a reliable call recorder available? I badly need this since I speak to a lot of clients and recording my conversations with them helps me when I forget something that I discuss with them.
Is there an available kernel that will allow me to tweak the volume of the headset (much like Boeffla for those who have experience in this)?
Looking forward to your answers mates! Thanks!
Edit1 - How do I edit the title? Spelling mistake
1. the one which offers warranty in your country. is warranty available for both variants where you are ?
where i am there is only the dual sim and its a variant on dual sims available elsewhere. dual sim means no wireless charging possible at all. dual sim means only one sim can be used at a time because G4 dual sim is a dual standby not dual active ie it only has one radio and not two. So the other sim goes into standby if you use it all that is.
There is another point, whether you have 4g service in your country or not and whether it can support voice and data at the same time on one sim. Where i am 4g cannot (no VoLTE from the carrier) only 3g can. so if on 3g data, and get a call then i get the call and data stops but if i'm on 4g data then the caller gets a busy signal if using data at the time they called. Conversely if i get the call then i cannot browse the net while on the call (!)
This is where dual sim comes in. they can call the voice number (set up to forward to the other sim) and the data stops otherwise can continue to enjoy data at 4g speed.
In effect this means if you want to use 4g you need a second sim due to lack of VoLTE. otherwise put up with the slower speed of 3G and use just one sim.
2. root can be injected, there is no recovery available as bootloader unlock is not yet available for any variant besides the euro h815.
3. yes but its not completely stable. some modules work others don't. i'd give this some more time.
4. there is one in the stock but otherwise try ACR, it works quite well for me with another device.
5. not yet. this will only happen when botloader unlock becomes more widespread.

1. I'm unsure. I'd have to go back to the store and ask. I beleive(from experience) you cannot use voice and data at the same time on my carrier(s).
2. Read about that a bit, and from my understanding, the dual SIM is the H818, which I haven't found a root for. (This is honestly most likely a dealbreaker for me) But should I be expecting a reliable root and bootloader unlock soon?
3. I think this is applicable for all Xposed for 5.x and above no?
4. That's pretty neat that LG has one in built. I may not need root if this is the case. I'd have to check which applications use root and see if they are absolutely necessary.
5. Sounds good.
Quick question that I forgot to ask about though, I use AirDroid to manage, send and delete SMS from my device as it's a lot easier to do this on a computer screen. When I updated to KK/LP on my device, a whole plethora of problems arose such as not being able to delete/send SMS if an application was not the default SMS app.
In addition, I use Avast Anti Theft which heavily relies on SMS Commands. Is it still the case today?
Sincerely appreciate the well informed response mate

H818 has root for both dual sim variants. Check the dual sim thread in general. roosta has been doing a good job with it.

ACR does not need root, which device do you use now, try it with that.

Well, I went ahead and done it. I just got my device
Checking it out now. In fact, I already posted a question there about the root.
Well, I suppose I'll be finding out the rest soon enough.
Can't located the inbuilt call recorder though. Any directions as to where I can find it?

Oh, it's a voice recorder that you need to turn on manually? Will check out ACR and see if it works okay on the device. So much stuff to look at and migrate. Just spent the last 2-3 hours on migrating my data.
Thanks for all your help matey. You seriously helped convince me to buy this device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/razer-phone-2/how-to/how-achieved-dual-sim-operation-rp2-t3923159
Basically, the Razer Phone 2 was sold as a single-sim phone and only has space for one in the SIM slot. However, someone discovered that it has hardware for two SIMs and even has a second IMEI.
I know we don't have a second IMEI, which is why DSDS was removed during the beta. However, could this be used to reactivate it? I've been looking for an xposed mod that let's you change multiple IMEIs in dual-sim phones but haven't found any. They all only change one SIM. I've also found tutorials for changing your IMEI w/o root and using USSD codes, which reference an IMEI_1 and IMEI_2, suggesting that we have all the tools to enable dual-sim dual-standby. Hopefully someone with the technical know-how can put the pieces together.
I've got a few phones in the drawer I could pull IMEI/IMSI info from.
