[Q] Help finding a new ROM

Hello all,
Basically I've been running the same ROM as my daily for 2 months (Frosty Jellybean 11.5) and I'm kinda bored of it. Plus I've been getting this bug where my lock screen messes up and I have to reboot my phone. I'm in the market for a new ROM and there's a lot to choose from so it's a bit overwhelming. I want something that's fairly small, fast, and close to stock. I don't need a lot of crazy features as long as I can underclock my CPU, and the Rom is customizable. I like to change it up every once in a while.
I was looking at Synergy. But the Rom seems big at 900 something MBs. The reviews make it look fast. And their thread says a lots of good things about it (Don't they all). It seems good, but may lack the customization features I want. This was almost the first ROM I went with from the beginning, but I failed to flash it after tons of download attempts and even restoring the phone to stock and trying to flash. If anyone can tell me whether or not this is working now that would be awesome. Also, does Morphology work with this ROM?
MIUI is also a good contender. I know it has amazing customization options. But can anyone give me information regarding performance and stability?
I will hear out recommendations for any other ROM's as well. I know these are all probably stupid questions and it's mostly a matter of preference, but I wanted a more informed opinion than mine. All these ROM's look amazing at a glance.

if you're going for MIUI, wait for MIUI v5 to come out, hope it comes soon.

If you're looking for small with a lot of options I'm thinking that AOSP/AOKP are good options. I enjoy Liquid, Carbon, and Rootbox. They are all the same feel with minor differences. The big change that is causing a hiccup is the 3.4.X kernels that are being included. If you're looking for real stability I think the older version is what you're looking for. If you're thinking TW still, then you'll need to expect a large file size since many include the AROMA installer and whichever add-ons they choose to include. My TW recommendation would be Wicked because of the options, speed, and stability. MIUI is great for customizations, like you said, but I seem to always run into some bugs that can be irritating. Not the most "stable" but plenty of fun and worth the bugs that come with it.
I say give one of the AOSP/AOKP Roms a shot, and when the newest port of MIUI comes this way you can see how that is.

Does anyone have comments on the synergy ROM? I have a few questions about it. Is it compatible with Morphology? Could anybody get it to install correctly on their T-Mobile S3? Is it buggy?
I was also looking at ParanoidAndroid and JellyBam. I've read good things about them, but nothing really sticks out when I take a look at their threads. Could someone with experience using these ROMS chime in?

ive tried te synergy ROM for a few days and it was good, but i did have a few problems and battery life for me was not that great. if you want a 4.1.2 ROM i would suggest http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176768

Where to start?

So I've order an OPPO find 7 and from looking around and reading various sources I think that I will definitely change the original OS. In my opinion it doesn't look too appealing, in fact it looks like an early, cheap smartphone GUI and the fact that it apparently drains battery life pretty fast.
So my question is where do I start when it comes to custom ROMS? I have rooted my phone in the past, but it would have been nearly 3 years ago now so I know a little a bit about rooting my phone from what I remember however with this phone I don't know what ROM to download. Also I would like to know of any stable ROMS as I prefer stable ROMS although I also like simplicity. An example would be being able to install a stable lollipop on the phone? Is this possible? Or even a stable version of cyanogenmod as that looks appealing. Another problem that I have read about is that when people do this they can't access memory on their phone and the camera app doesn't include many features, so how would I combat this?
All in all it would be very useful for you to put links to well known ROMS and other important features that you recommend me to install.

Hey there MrDecy, welcome to the Find 7 club.
There's two or three major options that I would suggest.
First, Cyanogenmod. I know their business practices haven't been stellar, but I really have found nothing wrong with any of their nightlies. I update nearly every day and never once have been disappointed by their performance or battery life. If you do get Cyanogenmod, you can also flash Maxxaudio and the Oppo camera to complete your experience. The only thing is that I haven't been able to get the unified storage to work, despite some people saying that it does.
Next is NamelessROM. It's basically Cyanogenmod but with a few Oppo-specific features and unified storage support. You can also flash Maxxaudio and the Oppo camera too, since it's based on CM. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed the early builds of the rom, I have found the later versions to be much more buggy. That being said, I haven't tried the rom in about a month or two, so things may have changed since then.
Finally, there's Oppo's new Lollipop AOSP rom. It's just meant for the people that want stock and nothing else, and doesn't come with Maxxaudio or the Oppo camera, but once again you can find those and flash them. Root is apparently working now, but when I was testing this ROM for Oppo, I couldn't figure out how to keep my root, so if rooting is a must, I might stay away. This is developed by Oppo though, and comes with the latest screen drivers, baseband and all that stuff, which should make for some really good battery life. It does also come with support for Unified storage. However, I have not tested the new one yet to see how well it performs.

The Oppo developed AOSP is my daily driver and have rooted it by flashing via TWRP (the SuperSU ZipV2.49). The Oppo AOSP was announced a few weeks now and since release I have not experience any issue so far. The ROM was developed by Oppo and was meant to be bare and stock to suit the requirements of those who wish the bare android. It is light, fast and stripped of all the bloatwares usually found in the COS. I was able to install the COS camera as I find this oppo camera good. Do your research and I recommend also the OppoForum as it provides many information I believe could provide answers to most of your questions regarding ROMs. For instance the COS I have tried and tested the different versions, and the version intended for China which was based on the kitkat 4.4.4 is the smoothest in my opinion compared to the international version which comes still in the 4.4.2 release of android. The Chinese COS I used for more than 6-months and I find it okay. Oppo provided the APPs necessary to have a good experience of the hardware features of the Find 7 or 7a. Example is the Maxxaudio which I am currently trying to install to AOSP. It all depends on you taste if you prefer the stock android feel then go with the Oppo AOSP (It is stable). Also get the feel of COS first anyway other options are accessible here in XDA and the Oppo forum.

So it's been 4 years, what ROM brings the definitive experience?

So this phone is about to turn 4 years old, there have been great ROMs, mods, kernels, etc. and I still have that one question:
Which ROM/Kernel combination brings the best and to put it straight "DEFINITIVE" experience?
I know it all comes down to preferences, what ROM gives you the personalization that you want and what not, but as someone who has only tried 1 ROM and stuck to it, I'd like to know everybody's opinion.
I've been using Carbon ROM and it has been a GREAT experience, but after a while you get bored of it. I've seen this device is getting some Lollipop love, but I think since this device can only do so much, you won't get the full Lollipop experience, or that's what I think at least, has anybody tested out the Lollipop ROMS for this device fully?
I've got some weird cm kernel I don't even remember where I got from (I've heard great things about wildkernel, is it any good)
Well anyway, I just wanted to know everyone's experience and opinion on what the definitive, MUST go to ROM/Kernel combination is that will make your cellphone the best in terms of performance, style and battery optimizer based on said experiences

Whats the best G3 rom?

Hi all, I'm currently running the stock rom for my lg g3 and I wanted to have a stable custom rom preferably asop or based on cm12. I need it to be able to be used daily without any problems and be quick. Cm12 is a nightly so I didn't think it would be that stable so is there any ROMs that are really stable for the g3? Thanks

Best thing try for yourself till you find one you like. What one person thinks is best is not necessarily what you would think is best.

As you assumed "Nightlies" are not for everyone and sometimes introduce bugs...however mostly anything else is stable for the people using it. There is NO SUCH THING as a BEST ROM for everyone. Each person has customized what they are using for their setup, usage, signal, and what they like. You will not have the same preferences. So you need to read the first couple of posts for ROMs you are interested in, which should contain any known issues as well as the features included, then read the last 50 posts or so to see if any new issues have come up if you are interested after reading the first few posts...then back up and try it for a few days.

Best Custom Rom?

I just got into Rooting my S4, I used to have an S3 so i'm no noob when it comes to development. the issue i am having is that since I got an S4, I see so many different Custom Roms that I don't know where to start so I thought that someone might be able to help. I just want to know your opinions on the best Custom Roms as far as lollipop and Marshmallow go for example...speed of use, OTA updates, actively developed etc. thanks for the help!

Welcome to the S4!
There are a lot of great ROMs out right now. Just an FYI, marshmallow is stable on the S4, however, there are a few generic problems in marshmallow with Bluetooth, particularly if playing audio to a Bluetooth device when receiving a phone call. Other than that, it is pretty solid and notably smooth and fast, just like lollipop.
There is a pretty good CyanogenMod 13 and Beanstock 6.0.1 out right now in the development forum, and they update fairly regularly.
There is also a really feature rich AOKP 6.0.1 that is really solid, and a PAC ROM 6.0.1 in the forums too.
If you want features and more features, I really recommend AOKP. If you want a suped up kernel, I recommend CM13 by @javelinanddart.
If Bluetooth is a must, I recommend SlimLP, or the older Resurrection remix 5.1.1.
The great thing about custom roms, is it is like ice cream, there are lots of great flavours, and there isn't really a wrong choice. Hope that helps!

I agree with you hotshot247, there is sooo many. I have been toying with Team OctOs Oct-MM. It is very nice and very AOSP, with just a few tweaks available via there app. But like Alaska said it does have an issues when you are playing music/audio on Bluetooth and get a phone call.
I have also been toying with Albe95 S6 FULL PORT. It is a Touchwize 5.1.1 ROM. I didn't realize how much I like Touchwize and how much I have become a custom to it. For the most part any of Albe95 ROMs look good to me personally.
Albe95 also has another ROM I have been looking at, Albe95 LolliROM [S6/S7/N4/N5 Feature]. It is 5.0.1 base. It has a lot of features and app ports from some of the newest Galaxy phones.
