HTC One M9 - is the one of the fastest smartphones? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm looking for a most responsive phone to buy. AnTuTu scores says one - reaching over 100k points makes M9 one of the fastest machine on the market. All about the phone is perfect for me, but comparison tests has dissapointed me at all, p.g.:
vs Note 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1tS1ssEivY
vs LG G4 and S6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aHh0yJGayA
What does it come from? M9 has Snap 810 and just 5", why is it slower on the tests and less responsive?

That's true. My M9 which android 6.0, has antutu scores over 115,000 points.

All videos I found on YT showed no more than 60k points and that the M9 is less responsive than another phones (G Flex2, S6, G4, OnePlus One! not even Two!)? And the questions are: why, is it true?

Im not even gona watch those videos, if you put S6 in the list as "more responsive", than all other test means nothing also..
S6 is and was always less responsive than HTC's phones due badly coded Touch Wiz and lots of bloatware Samsung puts in their phones.

well, this is not my opinion, it's just showed on almost all videos i watched

Those benchmarks and test are not to be trusted just like that, S6 is maybe better when u run empty phone, but when you will fill up with your apps and settings, than hes the one that starts to fall back behind HTC, and i see this every day at work when i help my customers setup their new phones like S6/Edge.
Also, all those videos are old, my M9 scores 120k on AnTuTu now, and speed/battery life is amazing with android M.
Thats all i can say to you.

thank you for such a reliable information. do you run stock soft or ViperOneM9?

I run Viper ofcourse
But, stock roms are as close to it, i did some minor improvements and merged some system stuff from andorid 6.0.1 which improves overall performance a bit more (would say around 5%+).

nice. is there any faster phone on the market besides M9 than?

I had a G4. but still has the s6, Oneplus2 and the M9.
the fastest for me is the M9, OP2 and G4. slowest is the S6 (well its fast at first but touchwiz sucks big time).
SD810 and 808 devices are so good esp when you start customizing them and tweaking them at your hearts content. or just by unleashing their full potential.
my favs are the M9 and the G4. OP2 is a so-so for me. I'm planning to sell the s6 and OP2 soon. I just sold my G4 the other day due to the lack of support from LG for bootloader unlock. on the S6 and OP2, development isnt that good. on the M9 Im really happy with sense and sometimes I go aosp/cm based roms. so M9 will be a keeper for me. I love this phone a lot. I'm still thinking if I should s-off. lol I remeber buying the S-Off for my m8, a week after I sold it. rofl

wanted to buy one from aliexpress.com, a regular M9 model (~300$).
no matter right now, I've just bought a new model with 24 months warranty for 370$, was it a good price?

Please tell my why I shouldn't return the M9 for an S6!

I've had my M9 for 2 days now, and I'm starting to see things that are disappointing to me. Especially for such a high end, pricey device. Battery life is not very good at all compared to my old LG G2. And it takes forever to charge. The camera is, for lack of a better word, horrible.
I'm trying to decide if I should return it to T-Mobile in exchange for a Galaxy S6. All the reviews I've read and watched lean toward the S6.
Tell me why or why not?
Base on the reviews, only the hardcore HTC fans are going to choose M9 over the S6.
Quite honestly if you have a chance to return the phone I suggest you should.
I have a feeling this phone will be a complete flop and will probably put the nail in the coffin.
I'm personally going to wait a few weeks after this phone hit the bargain bin before I make a purchase.

Have you ever had a Samsung phone? I have a Galaxy S4 and from I've experienced, touchwiz has got to be the most laggy skin. I can't go ten minutes without my phone freezing up for a few seconds. Not to mention, the battery life on it is awful. Also, if you ever want to root or flash your phone, I'd stay away from Samsung. Rooting is possible if you have an unlocked bootloader (which you should because it's T-Mobile) but since the GS6 is using an in-house processor that is locked down, roms like Cyanogen mod aren't supported. Lastly, you have to pay much more to get a higher storage capacity GS6 because there's no SD card slot. Of course, all of these things may not matter to you but I for one am tired of buying phones but not owning them. I will be buying an unlocked HTC One M9 straight from HTC. That way, I don't have to put up with the carriers anymore and I can truly do whatever I want with my phone. Hope this helps.
It's always a risk getting a new phone, but have to say the M8 was a more solid phone than the M9 in many ways.
As for Samsung, they are very laggy and tend to annoy me over time. The camera of the S6 will blow the M9 away, so if that's your focus then go for it.
*drum rolls* looks like M8s is on the way. Just when you thought the party was almost over. I have lost words for HTC by now.

All the reviews I'm reading say that Samsung has optimized touchwiz and it's very fluent now, and the battery, although smaller than the M9's, is much better due to the CPU.
Sense man.. For me it's always been that that has cut the decision...
I can't go on any other launcher, i just don't like them.. Used to Sense (and TouchFlo) so much now that i just cannot switch anymore..
Guess you could call that a reason for you too if the launcher is anything important to you.
Sense, really? Choose a sub par device in pretty much every category because Sense is really that good? NOT
I think if I could put the M9's speakers into the S6, my choice would be a no brainer.
The LG G2 is an anomaly when it comes to battery life. Heck, they couldn't even replicate it with the G3. If battery life is your singular focus then stay with the G2. But you can't expected the G2 to be the baseline going forward for comparison.
I've had the G2. I've had the Nexus 5 and I'm on day 2 of the M9. The M9 blows those 2 phones out of the water in terms of the smoothies of operation. It isn't even close. I'm sure the hardware of the S6 will provide for similar possibilities but I am going to have to read a lot of reviews the says that this is a new TouchWiz for Samsung before I believe that that phone will not bog down in software over time.

Subpar in every category? That's nonsense.

Just one thing to add: If you're looking to the S6 for battery life, look again. My S6 has some HORRIBLE battery drain, and it seems like most people have it. Software updates are definitely needed.

I would choose an HTC any day over that hideous mess they use to call touch wiz.
Gs6 has an exynos processor. Good luck getting bug free aosp roms on that. Many devs stopped deving for exynos devices because of how closed they are. Things need to be hacked together pretty badly and even then it doesn't work fully. Samsung is much more closed than qualcomm is. So I would pick what you call a sub par device that has a processor that a lot of devs are familiar with deving for (qualcomm in general not the 810) and quite honestly I'd pick an iPhone over a Samsung device. That's how much I despise their UI.

Say what you want but me and most consumers I'm not going to pay a premium for device with 2014 hardware.
I'll wait 2 or 3 months and wait for the carriers to slash the price of this humongous flop of a phone.
And if you think developers are going to develop for the M9, good luck. The M9 won't sell enough units to warrant any development.

It will for sure get a more stable AOSP build than the S6 will. But THB I'm happy with Sense. For the first time I can say I like a skinned version more than stock. I'm not a fan of the overall look of stock lollipop(love stock KK though) and I think HTC did a nice job with Sense. The only way I would consider an S6 if there could an almost bugfree build of AOSP like many of the qualcomm devices. With Samsung, the camera will never work right, other UI things will never work fully because of how closed Samsung keeps it. And I don't need anyone else to develop for it. Anything I want to do I can do on my own just fine and if I can't... I learn . I was making a point that people pick phones for many reasons, I personally hate touchwiz. I look at Samsung's UI and I just want to puke. I do think it's a really nice piece of HW, It would have been better with a Qualcomm chip that way you can ditch TW and at least have a decent stock experience but that won't happen with the exynos chip.
M9 has faults yes. But tweak ability is great. I have the m9 in my hands and my gf the s6. Ill take the m9 anytime over the s6.

First in my experience the M9's battery is very decent (haven't looked at stats or sot) but I'm a heavy user and it lasts me the day which is all that matters.
The Camera on the M9 is not terrible but the optics on the S6 are better.
The build & design of the M9 is subjective obviously we all have different likes, but for me HTC still has the S6 beat here. The S6 is a huge step up from any previous Samsung phone though.
The fluidity well when I tested side by side both are very nice here and are very very fast, Samsung has the better option to quick launch the camera.
Sense & touchwiz well for me who is tired of the latter sense is the better of the two, and blinkfeed is also better than I forget Samsung's thingie lol
Theme manager this is miles ahead of Samsung's attempt.
Storage, well the M9 being 32gb base storage is fantastic & expendable, S6 you loose this option.
Boomsound & audio, well obviously HTC has this as front facing audio is always going to be better, but the quality is the best I have experienced on any phone & I have had quite a few. Headphones this applies to but can't compare with the S6 so I don't know, but assume the M9 is better.
Each phone has plus points and negatives, for me though the M9 was the better choice for my liking.
I have had a lot of Samsung devices and just think all round despite the M9's flaws its the better phone (for me).
Both are great devices and Samsung has done very very well with the S6 & Edge.
If a phone doesn't meet your needs or you think its poor then your under no obligation to keep it, return for what will put a smile on the face

M9 is slower than M8?

I have used the M8 fora while, and its speed is amazing. I'm a fan of Samsung, but I always want the best thing, that's why last year I chose the M8. After reading many reviews, the problems like battery is gone (in some way, like it's bettery than S6), and overheating seems to be not a too big deal and still bearable.
But when I saw this speed test https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNN0I4zB5Wk
Can anyone else having two phones test this for me? Is it true that even the M8 is faster than M9? Thanks.
I'm going to blame it on the new architecture of the new chip-set, and manufactures not yet getting the hang of it. Gotta remember, the M8's software has had time to mature and they already know how to squeeze everything out of the 801.
I could be wrong, but it happens to everything when new hardware is released.

+1 I have both the m8 and m9, for ui and overall experience, the m9 is smoother, the only time I could say its "slower" is when gaming, I definitely notice lag there. That being said, the m8 was no where near what it is today when it was first launched. Same will go for this device. We don't even have kernel source yet, once we get that and they get a couple ota's in I'm sure this device will get even better, and better than the m8 hands down. We just gotta give it some time, there is a ton of potential here.
Personally I think the M8 is quicker overall as my M8 doesn't slow down during apps or games like the M9 does. Lollipop bogs down over time too. When this chip isn't throttling it's really quick, but it's always slowing down due to heat. If you haven't bought one, get it online so you can send it back after testing.
Phones never really improve over time with updates it's a myth and i've never found a ROM on a HTC that's quicker than stock either. What we have now is what we will be left with in 24 months.

That's not completely true. The M7 shipped with horrible touch screen drivers and got fixed in the 2nd firmware release. The M8 camera is 2x better now than when it shipped new. HTC is constantly working on refining their drivers and software ... some for better some not (Zoe limitations come to mind, removal of Notes was another complaint).
Any way it's not fair to Assume HTC is going to release a new phone an not continue to refine the software and drivers like they have in the past.
I was using both the M8 and M9 for a week. I found the M9 to be faster in everything that I did. I'm not a gamer, so I can't comment about that. My M8 was fast. It snapped to every command I gave it, but my M9 is just unbelievable. I've also owned a Gs5, and it was slower than both.

Also, you can't go by speed tests. Real world functioning is the only true test of speed. I have almost 400 apps with many running in the background. With the M9's 8 cores that's not a problem. Another reason why you shouldn't go by speed tests is they work differently on different processor architectures and operating systems. For example the M9 has a different architecture than the S6 and the iPhone. Just because they are all 64 bit doesn't mean they are built the same.

I have made the same test with my M8 and M9 and it's true, M8 is faster than M9, exactly like in the video. I can't understand how HTC launched the M9 that way, being slower and having considerably worse display than last years M8.

Leveling it with the M8 is not enough (it would be welcome, but not enough). Snapdragon 810 should destroy M8's Snapdragon 801 in every speed/responsiveness aspect, and it doesn't do that. It should be as fast as Samsung S6's Exynos at least. It is shockingly disappointing.

I'm not disappointed, they all have their quirks in the beginning. It will get better.
Let's not jump all over the m9 say it's slow, I've had an m9 now for two weeks and was unsure about it performance so went and bought an s6 yesterday thinking it was going to be all singing all dancing mother ****er silky smooth ultra fast mega phone, oh boy was I wrong s6 lags like a mother ****er, hated it like I've never hated before.
The s6, It's a mess if you ask me, so today I packed the s6 up and took it back and got a refund.
Only thing wrong with the m9 is it needs some software refinements, which will come to the phone.

Ok, maybe you are right about the S6, i haven't tried it too much. Anyway, it is unforgivable that the M9 is slower than M8. I hope HTC/Qualcomm will fix it in next updates.
I went from the S6 to the M9 and the HTC is hands down faster.
From the video, it's almost like it's a bus speed bottle neck as apposed to a cpu issue. Like it's indecisive about which cpu to use. Not saying it is or isn't. Just that the lag is consistent at app start up.

Not only that, kinda odd how he counts the Twitter test in favor of the M8 when the M9 was clearly faster... (and maybe others, still checking the vid at this point)
The M9's problem is that the M8 was really good. We all expect the M9 to this giant improvement. The other thing is that the 810 processor is wholly different than anything before it. The software very likely needs to catch up with the hardware. Only time will tell.
Personally I think the two devices are pretty equal. I also wasn't expecting a big improvement over the M8. I certainly wouldn't call it worse though.

Disappointed by the LG Nexus 5X specs and price ... is the LG G4 still worth buying?

As the title says, I am really disappointed by the N5X price in Europe compared to the specs. Is the LG G4 still worth buying it?
Is the LG overlay acceptable? (This is the only thing which really holds me off buying the G4 at the moment, because I really love stock Android)

This decision is really up to what features you find value in. I love my G4 and you would have to decide if you want a phone that has removable battery and expandable storage to say have fingerprint scanner and the latest OS. These phones are different in a lot of ways.

I picked up the G4 the day it came out,so I've had a good few months with it. Definitely no regrets. Coming from Samsung, it's a much less intrusive version of Android..... Than say... Touchwizz. It could benefit from extra features for battery saving mode like on the Sony or SAMSUNG, but it easily lasts me a day.
One of the best cameras, used it on my recent trip Italy, if you are into photography... You can have a lot of fun.
With every phone you will find +/-, but sure you can probably get a good deal on aG4, making it a real phone to consider.

I can answer one of those questions: the overlay is acceptable, because 99.5% of the time I don't see it because I use the camera/browser/gallery/app of choice, instead of playing with the settings. That might be different in your case, but since you asked I thought I'd answer.
Hell! I'd recommend the G4 over their 6P! For that European price, I'd 100% recommend the G4 over it!!! No doubt about it! You can get the G4 for 420 euros! The 6P will be 650 and I still think the G4 will compare just as well Or even better in the camera department and battery life. Nexus' aren't known for battery life. Neither is the LG, but hey! ...

no where as fast as you would get on nexus. they come in time though.
I'm also looking at ordering the G4 after the disappointment of the 5X, but it looks like LG will always gimp Nexus devices so it won't compete with their own flagship.
LG seems to be the only manufacturer left that give all the choices for users, even Samsung is going Apple direction.
I find LG interface to be much more bearable than Samsung which to me personally is unusable. This is helped by the fact of on-screen buttons. But I'm just waiting for CyanogenMod availability.

Then you are not a typical nexus user. You are interested in nexus only because updates are regular and this keeps the value of your device up.
You really prefer to have the extra 'features' every non nexus device offers.
So is this the same as the OP or not.
LG seems to be the only manufacturer left that give all the choices for users, even Samsung is going Apple direction.

86 in photo and 79 in video for both but one has 84 points and G4 83 points, anyways DxoMark just sucks, a french reviewer... never in low light
I'm disappointed in the 5x because of the faux look of dual front speakers when in reality one is just an earpiece speaker, nothing more and lack of qi charging, and same outdated storage options. Really don't care about the lack of RAM, not like I can tell a difference going from the G4 to nexus 5, though all of it is hard to justify at $380 when you pay $20 more and get 3gb of ram, a 5.7 inch 2k screen, and an SD slot by choosing a moto x pure edition. 5x specs would be fine with nexus 4 pricing tiers
To answer your question if you're a purist like me, LG UX will drive you bonkers. So much stuff they changed just to be different that doesn't really have a purpose. I like it overall OK but have already decided I'm going back to a nexus or a moto next year. Also the memory leak is in full effect on it as LG has written 5.1.1 off as "too minor to even bother with" which means it won't get fixed until you get marshmallow which probably won't be until 2016

That was quick but the most interesting scores are the N6P is top for texture in stills beating the S6 & G4 and beating both again for Noise by 4 points.
I think the comparisons of N6P against S6/G4 are going to be interesting, hard as it might be to believe, expect the N6P shots to look slightly better in details than the S6/G4. How to counter that ? reduce to 12MP on both, now noise & details will look sharper and the difference will be hard to tell. Still, this is an achievement for the N6P. The 6S+ did not get there. The Z5 did.
In terms of video stabilisation its a good ten points behind the G4 so jerky video.
12MP and 1/2.3" rear camera.
The big catch is that there is no OIS in either N5X or N6P, pretty shocking considering N5 & N6 had it. Go to the trouble to make a good camera and then leave out OIS. Seriously WTH!!!! So like the Z5 except the Z5 will have more features ootb. You better have good handholds a la xperia or M9 to get clear low light shots with these nexii.
What will the camera interface be like, google camera has always been very limited. 3rd party cams will be essential. And then we will find out just how slow the shutter gets to.
They left out wireless charging on both ! ok, i get it that morotola is crap at wireless charging but LG already nailed it with the 5, two years ago.
Course for those who want sd & removable battery, software is not going to be able to fix
I've just returned my LG G4 to get the Nexus 5x.
I loved the G4's camera but the bloatware, bluetooth issues, buggy smart unlock, constant notifications of "NFC may drain battery" when using my car dock, the big when you put it on charge, the bing when it finishes charging, the bing when you turn it on, the bing when you turn it off.... it stopped being an enjoyable device to use and it was all because of what LG had done to Android.
So I'm going back to stock android. Originally I was going to wait for a G4 AOSP or Cyanogen rom but with the announcement of the fantastic Nexus 5x camera I decided to make the move while I still could..
The feature list is cut down compared to the G4 but it is stuff I am not so concerned with. I've not used expandable storage since moving to use Google music, Photo, Docs, Keep and Drive. I've never used wireless charging, and I don't game on my phones so I am not worried about the 1gb less of ram, especially when my Nexus 4 uses nearly 1GB of ram less than the LG G4 when idling.
I got the G4 after trying almost all other phones out there. I had Z3, HTC One M9, S6, Nexus 6, Iphone 6, and now G4 and the G4 blows them all away.
It is quicker than the others, has no memory or multitasking issues contrary to some minor views in this thread, the bluetooth, 4g and wifi work perfectly, smart lock works fine too, the camera beats all of the other phones I owned, and the battery life is equal to if not better than all at 5 Hours SOT at 60% screen brightness.
The new google launcher is AWFUL so wanting that is just nonesense, and the LG launcher has replaced Nova for me, because it's just as customisable.
Nexus fans won't want it though because they want Stock = Boring, and prefer the boring look to a decent camera and features. Anyone expecting the new Nexus devices to actually have decent real world camera is praying to the wrong gods.
I have no memory leak issues with my Verizon model, and love 95% of this phone.
Coming from a Nexus/Moto X background, I find LG's ui decent and mostly easy to use. There are 2 or 3 little annoyances in how settings are accessed, but Nova Launcher fixes most design issues - an icon pack and new screen layout, plus gestures to shortcut to the settings I use most.
I world consider rooting to clean up the other small issues, but I'm a regular Android Pay user do I'm holding off until that all shakes out.

Im a huge nexus fan ive owned all of them from the first HTC to the last motorola. I bought the g4 blindly to test the non nexus waters and this phone has blown me away especially after the updates and the camera is super amazing and no nexus can or will beat it. Dont get me wrong ill probably grab the new nexus 5 based on stock so i can have fun rooting and putting custom roms on it, but besides having cutting edge software it will be my secondary phone and ill stick with my g4 for everyday use. To be honest im a crack flasher and it feels good to not have that urge with my g4, i got root and thats all i needed to get rid of some things and add xposed to tweak it a bit. Very happy with my g4 and will likely get the g5 when it drops.

Hello, I bought the G4 for about a month and it has no problem till now. Everything is OK. The body design is a little bend and quite comfortable playing with the phone. But the price is a little bit expensive for me. I was impulsive to buy it. Fortunately it performs well overall.

Yes. In terms of hardware, it's about even up. And the G4 also offers a miniSD slot, exchangeable battery, and nice back covers. Only possible drawback might be the battery live, probably mostly thanks to the G4's insane resolution.

I don't like the LG icons, but that can be easily changed by using a different launcher like Nova. Also, the colors for toast messages and quick settings are a bit bright (cyan). And the mobile data protocol (LTE, G3, ...) is displayed as own icon instead of small text in the reception bar icon. Most of the rest can easily be ignored or even be disabled in the settings.
But a lot of this (and more) can be modified even without unlocking the bootloader. You can flash rooted ROMs via the cable firmware update screen, and then use FlashFire to flash other ZIP updates like Xposed or themed variants (warning: very slow...).
With the European H815 version, you can also unlock the bootloader, but you'll lose warranty, and it can't be unlocked. But it'll allow you to flash "more AOSP" ROMs. (Official CM12 is work in progress, but there's an inofficial port available.)

Android M at least has been announced for the G4. I guess it's hard to tell even by LG's developers, as it depends on the changes made by Google.
But then, the changes made since Android 4.1 aren't that impressive anyway IMHO, and several recent updates had some teething troubles, so maybe it's not so bad to wait a bit longer...

The camera isn't that bad to be honest, it just doesn't reach the level of some other flagships such as the Galaxy S6 and the G4 (especially in low-light conditions). For the battery life, most of the m9 owners have noticed an improvement after the 6.0 update. I'm currently running a custom rom (ViperOne 4.2.1) and you can see my battery stats in the attached screen cap.

The heat issues still exist. Regardless of what people say, they just don't use, or should i say "abuse", the device enough.
That said, my phone has never overheated and switched off.
The camera leaves a bit to be desired. Choppy framerate and noise are the norm in picture mode but video is smooth and clear.
Boomsound is what sells this phone. It hasn't been beaten to this day for quality.

The only thing that bothers me about the camera is the lack of OIS.
Easiest way to put it if you want sense get a M8 if you don't get a 6P..

Would you recommend the M8 over the M9 even when they are att the same price level? I have a M8 myself today but I'm thinking about upgrading a family member from One S to a M9. At least here in my area they are about the same price (M8 16 GB vs M9 32 GB).

M8 is an amazing device, but M9 sucks period it's my biggest regret in life won't buy a HTC device after this if you want an expensive heater and device with no support for months then go for it 401 variant didn't get an update since July last year... we just got the MM update and it still had it's issues, I've had lots of build quality issues, saw other people with the same issues and even people on xda who're on their 3rd+ M9 camera software sucks the sensor is great but you just can't get a good picture from it, I replaced my M9 with an Nexus 6 and never looked back now just got a nexus 6P and it blew me away how great is it if that device is an option for you go for that you won't be disappointed To me the M9 feels like a mid-range with flagship pricing
Another +1 for the 6P honestly don't bother with the M9, I'm an HTC guy through and through, look at my signature for device history. The M8 was my favourite device to date, fantastic battery life, blazing performance, decent cameras (especially in low light). The M7 was also pretty amazing but the M9 in my opinion is a downgrade from the M8, camera in any low light situations is absolutely awful, battery life is poor, got far less SOT with the M9 than I did with the M8. I really hope the M10 is decent because HTC can't afford another release like the M9. The software support has gone down hill with the M9 too, they updated the M8 quite consistently but the M9 took forever to get marshmallow! I had the nexus 4 a few years ago and went straight back to HTC because I missed sense, I missed the features, (stock android wasn't as polished back then). Absolutely love my 6P, first non HTC phone I've owned in years and it's slowly becoming my favourite all time device, camera is fantastic, low light performance is incredible! Battery life is also very impressive, the device is obviously a lot bigger so consider if a phablet is going to be a comfortable size for you but if size isn't an issue I'd chose the 6P anyday of the week. Had the M9 from launch up until November so in that time I put it through its paces! Although a small feature, the finger print sensor is a fantastic little piece of hardware, it's so much faster than unlocking with a code or pattern. The thing is, the M9 isn't a bad phone, but considering the fact its a HTC & was released in 2015 I was expecting so much more!
Thanks I own now two devices and i will pick M9 anytime. 6p microphone sound so so weak comparing to M9 and stereo speakers more clear on M9 HANDS DOWN!

HTC10 better than the Galaxy S7 ?

Hello
It is better to HTC10 opinion or Galaxy s7 ??
Thank you !
webcodes.rozblog.com
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC 10 are two of the best cell phones available, as reflected in our separate audits.
The trip to get to this point has been altogether different for the two organizations included. While the S7 is a continuation and refinement of the brightness found in a year ago's S6, the HTC 10 is a huge change over the M9. Be that as it may, both touch base at a comparable point at the highest point of the cell phone tree.
There's doubtlessly HTC has the point of interest in a few zones, especially sound and programming. HTC's most recent form of Sense stays nearer to the Android Marshmallow source material than Samsung's TouchWiz, and the changes and upgrades appear to be better considered and executed.
Then the Galaxy S7 has the better camera and showcase, and additionally profiting by being waterproof and perfect with an assortment of remote charging benchmarks.
We'd say that the better camera and show presumably gives the Galaxy S7 the edge in a straight battle, however whichever telephone you pick we question you'll be frustrated.
I'm curious too. Was let down with google nexus phones again. Finally on Verizon with N6.... To big and crap camera, the 2015
but too big with 6P and poor ergonomics and build and horrible speaker with the 5x.
Now htc has the 10, which looks great and runs a nicer UI sticking closer to android. Seems like I can get the unlocked version and mod it to Verizon with little issue. Not sure if this is as straightforward as it seems. Seems close to perfect for me.
But then there's the s7 and even more tempting the s7 edge. Is touch wiz really cleaned up enough this year? Or same bloat slow UI we all know? Seems like I'm seeing more battery drain threads and lagging UI threads. Any truth to this? The big pull for me is the camera and amoled. I'd love to hear impressions of those who've had both.
totally
yes some points HTC 10 better then galaxy s7
and some points galaxy s7 better then HTC 10
so if you going to buy HTC 10 or galaxy s7 You will not regret

I'm terrified to purchase an S7 due to its glass build. Small bumps and drops can shatter the entire phone, not to mention it's much praised waterproofing makes it alot harder/more expensive to get reparied.
I'm also hearing about the camera glass randomly cracking/breaking.
Best selling point of the HTC 10 was NO TOUCHSH!T, I mean touchwiz  While the s6 and s7 touchwiz is a bit more tolerable, it's still gonna lag from time to time (especially over time)
My only complaint about the HTC 10 is the capacitive keys and the removal of the REAL boom sound speakers

Its very close to the speed of the s7, the s7 is noticeably faster than the 10, therefore faster than the 10.
Here in the US, HTC allows you to buy unlocked, Samsung does not. I voted with my wallet. I refuse to support a company that does not sell unlocked here in the US. I'm not buying International and losing my warranty just to have my freedom.
When Samsung starts selling unlocked GSM with unlockable bootloaders straight from their site, they can get my money.
Edit: As far as better goes, depends. Do you want faster updates, better build/audio quality or better camera, more features & waterproofing?

The HTC 10 is the automatic winner since it can be unlocked and rooted. The Snapdragon 820 S7s can't even be rooted thanks to dm-verity checks. I got a Note 5 and it will be my last Samsung device if they don't change their developer mentality, especially since it was the developers who got them where they are (via the Nexus sales). Google propped them up to where they are and they thanked us by making the most locked down devices around. Screw Samsung.
l returned mine for the s7e. As much as I wanted to keep it, I just couldn't forgive the dimness of the display. A max of 370 nits is not enough for me.

That doesn't apply when you come on XDA pal.
If Google had a proper app+data restore, I could actually live without root but I have too many authenticators and too many apps to give up TiBu.
It wouldn't take much for Samsung to implement a sanctioned unlock, they just want to lock people in to their bastardization of the Android OS. The fact that the Exynos variant (which can't run AOSP since Samsung doesn't release their developer documentation) can be unlocked and flashed speaks volumes to how much they want everyone locked into LagWiz.
I have T-Mobile and T-Mobile has always been developer friendly unlike Verizon and AT&T yet Samsung encrypted the bootloader on their T-Mobile phones this time around as well. They want you locked into their ecosystem, end of story.
