Guys,
Looks like you both are struggling to have it. Try changing CID if you are S-OFF !
If on S-on then 1st you guys need to make it S-off with Sunshine s-off tool and then just change to super CID
Finally android L will be on ur hand & android M will knock your doors soon

hey what do you meen change CID how is it done and will it unlock the update for us?

Sunshine doesnt work on Desire 820.
So we need to now your CID, maybe there is a compatible rom for your device, if you are not locked by a career.
Here is the way how you can read the CID from your phone, do it and than tell here your result and lets see what we can do.
http://www.andromods.com/basic-how-to/identify-cid-mid-number-on-htc-htc-one-m8.html
When you are in the bootloader you will see on top a s-on or s-off thing. If yyour device is s--off than you can change to supercid and after this you can flash every lollipop version from other desire 820 variants.

[Q] Flashing Stock RUU on Unlocked 3UK (H3G__001)

Hey guys. Quick question if anyone can help me.
A friend has a HTC One X from Three UK which he has had carrier unlocked by Three UK themselves. I want to know if I would be able to flash the stock Rom onto this device to debrand it, without having to S-Off.
His CID is H3G__001. I initially assumed he would not be able to without S-Off, but I thought I would check my old HTC Hero which was originally on Three UK and then unlocked in the same manner.
The Hero I managed to debrand by flashing a stock RUU, but the CID on that device is also H3G__001. So I'm thinking, if the CID ends with __001, does that mean a stock RUU can be flashed?
Do any of you know what the CID is for a locked Three UK device?
My friend is looking to sell his HTC One X and I'll only buy it if I can debrand it and have it running the stock firmware.
Currently using a Desire HD and iPhone 4, but getting sick and tired of waiting for the upcoming ICS update. If HTC had said the DHD is not being update, then I would have just got the One X..!
My locked three branded phone has the same CID - I don't beleive you will be able to install a stock ruu on this phone without changing the CID.

You can still put a stock rom on the phone by going down the htc dev route but you can't use an RUU.

Want to s-off on andriod 4.4.2 .

Having a sprint htc m8 (unlocked ) with following details
Andriod Version- 4.4.2
Htc sense - 6
Software version - 1.54.651.8
HTC sdk api level - 6.17.
With hboot -1.56 (probably , not sure as phone is not with me now )
Can i s-off it with firewater ??. If somehow i am successful in s-off it , can I update it to latest lollipop with losing s-off , as the hboot will also be updated with it .
Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
No more firewater ... not on any hboot.
hboot 1.56 is M7 not M8
M8 hboot is 3.16.0000
Personally I don't see a good reason to S-Off a Sprint device. You can't convert it to anything else, must remain on Sprint.
Look for RUU to update it to lollipop
So i cant flash asian radio img to sprint htc m8 it after s-off and super cid . Can u do it to tmobile variant. I havent updated the os and the firewater works with the andriod 4.4.2 and i have the firewater file too . Still i cant s-off the phone using it ?
Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
I can't comment on radio part because I'm not familiar with it when it comes to sprint and verizon variants. Personally I don't think you can do that.
TMobile is GSM, different from Sprint & Verizon even though you can use GSM on them. I read that when a GSM firmware which include radio is flashed to a Verizon, it kills the radio and it needs motherboard replacement to fix it. I expect the same for Sprint.
Maybe @redpoint73 can assist on this matter.
Now .. about firewater .. you have firewater files but you don't have firewater live server. When you run firewater, it needs to download some files from its server (that's why you need internet connection when running it). Since the server is offline (in fact no more live server) the procedure will definitely fails.
Shunshine should work for you: http://theroot.ninja/

You can't do it. The partitioning on the phones isn't even the same, meaning the radio won't flash to the right partition, and might brick the device.
At best, the radio won't flash; at worst, you will brick.
In short, you can't flash other radios to Sprint. If your carrier is not Sprint, you should not have bought this version M8.

As ckpv5 stated, it doesn't matter what hboot or software is on the phone. firewater doesn't work anymore, on any phone, period.
Thanks for the help guys . Phone was sold so not able to reply .. any help regarding updating my sprint htc m8 (s-off'd) firmware to latest. Found a gsm thread but not for cdma/ sprint firmware to flash .

MM RUU is now available, you can update by RUU (but this will wipe the phone). RUU at the bottom of the following: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-sprint/news/

yes you could flash custom roms without s-off and by rooting and flashing twrp... s-off gives you an additional facility for firmware changes(wwe or developer edition) and lil more....
check on development thread to see rom details....to flash twrp, root and custom roms s-off isn't required

I just flashed viper10 2.7.0 to my HTC 10. I left it s-on and everything worked perfectly. I don't know enough yet to attempt s-off seeing as how I'm new to the android rooting scene.

A few questions about the bootloader and S-off-ing

Hi!
I've spent a few hours researching these topics but I still feel a bit unstable. If I get it right, you can use the HTCdev method to unlock your bootloader safely, but doing so will make you unable to relock it flawlessly. Using the Sunshine method gives you an opportunity to S-off while keeping the bootloader locked.
1.) Using the Sunshine S-off LOCKED method, can you "re-S-on" to make your device look factory new? (In other words: can you revert the changes completely?)
2.) I've read that S-off-ing is only required to install firmwares and for other "high-level" purposes. Could you please tell me a few situations / examples where S-off-ing would come handy (and an unlocked bootloader wouldn't be enough)?
3.) How can you install software updates while being in "S-off LOCKED" or just simply bootloader unlocked mode?
4.) Do you think Nougat will make any differences regarding the Sunshine method?
I'm planning to do one of the 2 methods after the official EU release of Android N.
Thank you in advance!
1-Yes. But s-on is not recommended unless you really really need it.
2-For example,I'm s-off unlocked.Changed my Europe device's Cid and Mid to US Unlocked version,flashed latest Nougat RUU.exe.Wanted to go back to Viper 3.5 MM,Flashed US unlocked MM RUU.exe,Changed mid cid,Flashed a stock MM European MM 1.90 rom,flashed Viper,upgraded firmware to 1.95 through fastboot.And that's it.I was back in the beginning.2 days later,saw the root came out,changed mid-cid,flashed RUU.exe just like that,and stock N again.Then applied root,here I am.If I wasn't s-off,in some place on this process,I believe I would be bricked,hard or soft,but bricked.
3-You can get the updates normally when s-off locked/unlocked through the OTA.
4-You should s-off while you're still on MM,because afaik sunshine isn't compatible with N yet.

Thanks for the fast anwser!
So the software updates only cause trouble when the bootloader is unlocked, regardless of being in s-off or s-on mode?
If I S-off now, will I be able to upgrade to N and keep the "S-off LOCKED" state?

I've been curious about this, does the MID matter? Europe is 2PS62000 and US is 2PS65000. I didnt know if there were hardware differences beyond radio ones, and whether or not that would create problems for European models outside of US?
Well,I read on the forum (don't remember which thread) someone having a problem because he forgot to type 1 zero in the mid.I mean it would be same if you change cid but not mid.And since it is really easy to change ,I changed them both.
