This is my personal review and perspectives on both the AGE Phonster and the LD West Holster. I did not get any of the products as a review unit or gift. They have no influence on my opinion even though I seen the AGE Phonster first. Lol. In addition, like phone clips and phone belt clips, you will either like them or hate them. They are very polarized according to the comments on youtube and other blogs I have read thus far. Saying that they look like gun holsters. And I have to say yes, that was my initial reaction as well, but subsided after weighing the pros and cons and functionality for me. I for one, find them a perfect accessory, especially if you are wearing formal wear most of the time like me.
AGE Phonester
First off I will post my first take on the AGE Phonster. A Ukrainian company that had Kickstarted this phone “wearable” and I actually loved it first sight. The AGE team had Kickstarted another accessory in the past so I had confidence in this one coming through. Like many projects, this had a small delay in shipping due to the holidays and the backers timely answering of the said surveys. But in any case, backers are still receiving theirs to date.
When I received my Phonster “One”, meaning only had the case for a phone. And in my case a Nexus 6. If you are aware, this is a huge phone, heck it’s given the codename “Shamu”. I am using a Ringke Slim case with a dbrand skin adorned on the back. And during the campaign, I indicated the measurements and the AGE team simply said to go with the XL case they offered and I agreed. When I received it on the last day of December 2015, I was giddy! I loved the idea of the Phonster, freeing up the pockets and not having to use my Seidio belt clip, which I have to say works; I have been using Seidio belt clips for years with different cases for at least 4 years.
The initial presentation was ok, the box said “Kickstarter” but not pouch or instructions were included. Just a AGE card slipped into the front pocket of the phone case. When I took it out, my initial thought was it was like suspenders. Which isn’t a bad thing, but curious on how it would look and feel in day to day usage.
I immediately took to the Phonster. The practical use of the Phonster was great. The adjustment buckles were real easy to adjust and the back bands that make the suspender part felt fine. But the only thing was the squeaking! That squeaking due to the new leather is so loud. But wearing it for about a week has lessened the squeak a bit. The pull tab is indeed a bit too short, but I can deal with that part. The leather in my case is nice. It’s real leather but real stiff like you know leather can be. The magnets alone are not strong enough to hold the phone in the case. Good thing the AGE team decided to add the latch. It has saved my phone many of times in my usage. What I have found is that the leather on the latch has started to scratch due to me using my fingernails to guide middle of the latch hook in where it needs to be to be secure and then lastly guide the magnet latch in place. On the site and the Kickstarter campaign states that you can put keys in this thing. Maybe one or two keys with no real keychain, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that in fear of the keys slipping out. I am not really sure how to store the keys. Maybe I’m missing the true way? Not sure on that one.
I have read comments stating that the stitching was off and things were off center. I personally don’t see it and if I cannot see it, I highly doubt someone else will notice it too. Is the leather stiff? I think so, but with additional wear, the leather will break down a little to conform to me. I only see that if I do use this and sweat, that the color will bleed. I will need to do further testing to see in the summer or Texas spring.
Ordering: Right now the kickstarter backers are getting their rewards at this point and of course any orders on their website will be delayed until the backers get their rewards. But if the kickstarter shipment is not going to change (I was informed by the AGE team that it was), the shipping time from Ukraine to Texas was 10 business days. Much like any order from China would take. The tracking info provided only tracked up to leaving the Ukraine, to the US; one of the coasts for customs check and then finally sending it on its merry way. So based on the kickstarter order and ship, right now give it a 2 out of 5 stars.
Packaging: 2 out of 5 stars. I personally don’t really care about packaging but 1st impressions are everything! There were no instructions and no data indicating to go online or youtube channel to show how to fit and resize to a personal preference.
Materials: Leather, stretchy suspender materials, slider clasps, buttons, hooks and magnets...magnets being the weakest point of contention here. The leather is stiff, but I believe will work out in a few weeks time of wearing. 3 out of 5.stars. Heavy deduction due to the latch system and scratching the leather of the latch due to correctly latching the case to ensure the phone won’t accidentally fall out. You can swap out different sizes, put another case on the other side for a wallet or second phone or swap the side where you want the phone case to be. the default for me is the right side. That is where I normally put the phone on the right side of the body in my case. This may be different for you.
Ease of use: 5 out of 5. Conforming the Phonster to the size that fits you is as easy as it gets. The slider buckle is so smooth to operate and is like second nature when adjusting it due to the different types of clothing you wear. It’s perfect and of course the straps do get twisted every now and then, but it’s easy enough to move the metal D rings so that the strap sits flush on your body.
Overall: 4 out of 5 stars. I absolutely love it. It is pretty comfortable to wear and you somewhat forget that you are wearing it, like suspenders on a suit. I love the color of the brown leather that I picked and works with most of my wardrobe. Because the phonster appears to be hand made, the look and the feel look like it. It has a nice rough look to it that blends well with a button down shirt which I wear almost everyday for work. Even with the squeaking leather.
Do I recommend this? Yes! I love it to death and will be with me with years to come. I love it so much that I decided to go for the gusto and placed an order for the large case, wallet and sport strap as well. So time will definitely tell if sweat and odors and color bleeding do indeed happen with this leather. Where? At age.com/ua
The LD West Original Holster
Soon after I started wearing the AGE Phonster from Kickstarter, I read comments from another backer that they were looking for product reviews of the Phonster and while nothing came up for the Phonster, another product did. This is the LD West Holster from a company in Canada. Initial looks comparing the two, I said the case in the back part leaves your device exposed a bit and that may lead to breakage. And the quality of the materials in comparison the the Phonster looked different and based on the images and reviews I have seen online and youtube vids from various bloggers, I said that the Phonster overall looked like a better product based on personal usage. I researched LD West a bit more, and ended up talking with LD West customer service and had a conversation about measurements that I was trying to figure out to see if my Nexus 6 would fit with the Ringke Slim case installed. Eventually I gave my measurements to the LD rep because the chart they have for reference to determine the size needed only listed the phone types and not measurements. And based on the measurements, LD West concluded that my Nexus 6 with the provided measurements would indeed fit their current large case. LD West will release an extra large size (again no idea on dimensions) mid 2016. And based on the conversation with the rep, I was given a link to their brown version which was on sale. It was a deal that I could not refuse. The LD West Holster comprises of the large phone case and a wallet with its own case (medium?). This is a standard set you get with whichever color variant you choose. Also splurged 5 dollars to express ship the order. I placed my order on Monday afternoon.
Within the next day, I got a shipment notification that a label was created from DHL. Then later on at the end of the day, DHL tracking said that the package is to be delivered the very next day. Ok shipping was all together 25usd. So ok, that worked out and I didn’t mind spending the shipping cash because of the deal I got on it. And lo and behold, the package was waiting for me the very next business day when I went home for lunch. A welcomed surprise! I had my beloved Phonster on was ready to compare it, even though it’s not apples to apples. I mean the largest case LD West has at this point is the large and I have an XL phonster case. And I have a wallet and case along with a large case for the LD West side of things. Like I stated earlier, I have the Phonster order in and will not ship until after 1/18/16 due to them working hard to get all the backers rewards out before the pre-orders are filled on the site. Transit time expected if they are still using the same courier for shipping out of the Ukraine, about 12-15 business days from the 18th of January.
Upon carefully opening the DHL packaging, the LD West logo on the black box that I have seen numerous times on youtube have adorned my garage on a bright afternoon. And I have to say the presentation looks awesome. Much like the presentation of a nice belt in a box. Upon opening the box, I was greeted with a note to look at the install videos before detaching. Under it was a small drawstring back with the LD West logo and inside was the goodies. The materials used is listed as vegan leather, meaning imitation leather. That doesn’t mean that they skimped on quality, what it means that for their research, they opted to use the vegan leather because in their tests, real leather colors will bleed in hot weather and retain odors. I have yet to see this happen on the Phonster, but hey, I put it out there.
Upon unwrapping the back strap, I inspected the button snaps and adjustment buckles. The back strap looks cushioned and there are no D rings attached to it. It seems to be stitched into the back plate with some padding. With this type of set up, no squeaks! And to compare as close to apples to apples with the Phonster, I opted to remove the wallet side which is the left side and kept the phone case on the right side. But before putting it on, I had to try the large case to see if my massive Nexus 6 with RIngke slim case would fit. And found that it did! Yes, the phone does stick out of the top where the clasp is but the clasp folds over the phone without issue to secure the case inside. And also the back part is exposed as well. But the case has the back opening face up. I think to push it out from the other side in case your phone is shoved in real good, which you have to be really, really careful not to accidentally push your phone out too fast where you pop it out of the case and falls to the floor. But in my case, the phone fit in perfectly and has a bit of space for a somewhat thicker case. I have a Spigen surface case and will test out to see if that case fits in there or not. I have tried the Spigen Ultra hybrid case and that fits in and closes the magnetic clasp without issue as well. So I am happy with the correct info supplied by LD West so far!
I then sized it a bit and put it on like a t-shirt, just like how I put on the Phonester. Tried the dual set up, which feels quite comfy and then took it off and snapped the two snaps together and that worked out perfect. I then needed to tighten the left side, where I took the wallet and case off to accommodate the lack of case and attempted to do so. And unlike the smooth Phonster slider buckle, the LD West Holster has a clasp mechanism. And I have to say is a bit of pain. Especially if you have it on. And numerous times, I had to go and take the LD West holster off to resize and test repeatedly, where in the Phonster, I did not unless I was adjusting the back straps. But once I got it to the size that was good for me, it fit like a glove. And after wearing it for a day, so far, I have to say because of the cushioned back plate of the LD West holster, it felt a lot more comfortable and natural. And no squeaking!
I was initially hesitant in ordering because of their really aggressive no return policy. I mean if I provided the measurements and turned out that the phone did not fit, then I was out my cost. That is a real let down and risk to take on an accessory that cost close to a 120 USD.
Ordering: I was speaking to a rep via email thoughout the ordering process so it was easy to see what the deal was the rep was speaking about. I had questions about shipping and if a signature was needed for the package and was told that it is up to the driver to leave it if they decide to. So it’s out of their hands. 5 out of 5 stars with helpfulness even before the sale.
Packaging:This is where first impressions are important to most people, especially if giving this as a gift. LD West has it pretty much in the bag. The box and small drawstring bag exudes quality and you can tell you spent money on it due to the packaging. 5 out of 5 stars there.
Materials: NOT Leather. It’s Vegan Leather. AKA not real leather. LD West decided this route because of the risk of the leather bleeding the colors in hot humid areas and also vegan leather is said not to retain odors. However saying this, the quality of the vegan leather is still great. The wallet and case is gravy and is really a nice addition. I just have too much cards in my wallet to replace my current one. The magnets that hold the clasp and phone in are strong. I tested this with my phone and indeed does not come out on some rigorous shaking. In using the Phonster with only the magnets and not latching it, the phone easily slips out the case and the Phonster’s strap does nothing to keep it housed safely if one was bending over to pick something up. So for this I give LD West 4 out of 5 stars. Not 5 out of 5 because I have a soft spot for actual leather.
Ease of use: The magnets are awesome, the adjustable clasps are not. I always have issues adjusting on the fly, where the Phonster is a simple breeze to adjust with their buckles. It may be me, in adjusting in how to actually do it properly, but there shouldn’t be a learning curve to resize in my opinion. The stretchy straps twist as well, so it’s on par with everything, 3 out of 5 stars.
Overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars as well. With the clasps giving me a hard time and the vegan leather compared to real leather it’s really a toss up between the two. They each have pros and cons and both are different enough to use. I am ok with having two sets to change it up. And also wearing the LD west, I have to reiterate was real comfortable to wear. Not sure if it was because of the back plate being stiched with no real metal hardware may be the reason, but I don’t really know. I do know that the LD West holster does not squeak! Using it has been good as well. It doesn’t have the total coverage of the Phonster but it is a bit more comfortable to wear.
Would I recommend this? Yes! Which would I recommend, the AGE Phonster or LD West? Hard to say. The stitching and leather of the Phonster looks and feels great and has a custom look to it. Almost to the extent of stem punkish, where the LD West holster feels like something a person on a motorbike would wear. Pricewise the AGE Phonster Full, which consists of the wallet and two cases along with the sport strap is $150 usd before shipping. Where the LD West set comes with a wallet and case standard, but no sport strap, they don’t use one comes in starting at $119, depending on the color.
If you want something NOW, I would recommend the LD West holster and suggest open a line of communication of what you want and size of your device prior to ordering due to their return policy, which is they have none. LD West ships from Canada and maybe due to that I got my item in a business day. Pretty quick turn around there. Where to get one? LDWest.com
I will need to test both further, especially when my other components come in from AGE. Then I can compare more so with the wallets. I hope you enjoyed my comparisons and please let me know if you have questions! Thanks for reading!

Just following up with and update of sorts. To let everyone interested know that the current set up that I am wearing pretty much every day right now is the LD West. Simply because the stronger magnets of this case makes it super easy to slide in and out ones phone.
any photos with your nex6 and spigen ultra hybrid fitting in the ld west? thier support thinks it will be tight but its leather and it will just loosen up.
thanks

I sent you a PM but I think I tried it with it on without real issues I mean the Google Live case is a hair thinner than the ultra hybrid and I want to say it fits fine. I'll let you know later.
Nexus6 ultra hybrid case fits fine. I am using my phone, so I couldn't use it lol.

Well like I said if you do not mind the snug fit go for the lg. You can push out the phone from the back until the leather conforms.

Has anyone anywhere reported having used something like this for an YEAR or more? Not a passing usage but as a permanent "EDC"?

I use it seasonally. Usually in the Autumn and winter months where I wear heavier jackets which makes wearing a belt holster annoying.
I've been using LD West Holster with my Note 4 and it has been a life saver. As I have recently relocated to Hong Kong for a job. The LD West Holster is vert practical.
Thanks for this review. I was originally going to go with the LD West as it seemed like it would have gotten to me a bit faster. I'm also using it for a Note 8, and wasn't sure if the LD West had a pouch large enough. The Phonster is not entirely what I pictured in my head, but I'm growing increasingly fond of it. I got the XL pouch, and it feels like I maybe should have gone with L. I plan to use it most days, and assume/hope it'll last a while. Ordered my Phonster X directly from the AGE site on 9/24, shipped from Ukraine 11/3, received in Oakland, CA 11/13.
Thanks again.

And which one is your choice for that now? I am considering using it all year round in a warm tropical country just to not have to worry about having or not having pockets in my outfit.

How is it working out through the entire year in a place like HK - wearing with casual and/ or more formal clothing? All the time or skip it certain times etc?

It is working out pretty good in a place like HK. I wear my LG Holster all the time. As I find it very convient carrying my Note 8. I wear it wearing casual and formal clothing. I use my LD West Holster all the time in HK. Except during the Winter months as I can wear my leather jacket. But I still carry it in my bag so I can put it on when I am in the office.
My contention is having to change where I keep EDC things based on what I wear..
Pants / Jeans / Shorts / Joggers / Yoga pants +
V / U / Henley / T shirts etc / Casual/ Dress shirts +
Bomber / vs Blazer / Sport / Suit Jacket.
Esp when I am wearing T's & Shorts with no pocket or less space, It might make sense to have a DEFAULT "holster" thing to HANG, all the time, year round.
Even if I wear a jacket on TOP or Not.
The "holding / carrying mechanism" stays consistent through the year.. and remains a PHYSICAL MECHANICAL HABIT via Muscle Memory.
I am thinking Phone, Compact Wallet, Power Bank, KeySmart type Key Organizer etc. Place in same place and carry all the time.
Now matter what I wear I'd like to maybe have holster like setup that is my CONSISTENT Go To.

I got tired of the rooCASE that I recently purchased so I picked up an Acase from Amazon. The case is pretty much the design equivelant to the plastic Motorola unit but this one is made of buttery soft black leather that smells like a new pair of shoes. It feels great in your hands and provides verly little bulk. Open, aside from the tabs keeping the Xoom in place, the bezel remains incovered. With the rooCASE, dust constanly got under the covering and drove me nuts. There are cut outs for the volume, headphone jack, camera, and power button. The only problem I see is mounting to a dock, you would have to remove the case to do so.There is no snap closure either but rather a curved piece at the top which works well. Fits inside my rooCASE prefectly for travel.

i see that kevikev guy on here has a carbon fiber version of this case that has the improved slots has anyone tried that one? he also has a lower priced litchi leather one that is a lower price that states that the lower angle is not that stable thus the lower price im thinking about getting the carbon fiber one, it looks different and i like the look,
How long took the shipping to you? I'm thinking about to order it to our california headquarter so that my collegues could bring it to Germany when they travel back after this week...

I also have this case and I have to say: "I love it". But yes, the lowest vieweing angle doesn't support well the weight of the xoom, and it easily drops then. But the other two angles work quite well. All in all, the size of the xoom + acase is perfect and it is easy to take out from your backpack, check whatever on the xoom, put it down somewhere. Ahh, and I got mine for only 14$ in Amazon. I don't know if they still have at this price.
Best,
my only complaint
Yes, just like the Motorola case. What I do not like is that all of the ports on the underside are covered when the case is closed. So it has to be opened and lay flat to charge. And you must have it open to plug in headphones.

Sorry for such a delayed response. The third position is not very stable, it falls with a light touch. First two are okay though.

I paid for next day shipping because I hate waiting for things but since the order is fulfilled by Amazon you will get it rather fast depending on when you want it. 2 day shipping I believe is 10-15 bucks. Mine shipped from Lexington Kentucky.
Thx, but I've already got mine on monday.
My boss brought it to Germany when he came back from a visit of our company headquarter in San Francisco. I've ordered it to that office on Amazon.com before, costs are €33,83 incl. 2-days-shipping ($34.95 w/o shipping).
I'm really satisfied with it, fits much more better than the LuvTab and doesn't bloat it so much.

This review is from: Acase MOTOROLA XOOM High Quality Premium Slim Leather Case Folio with built-in Stand for MOTOROLA XOOM 32GB, WiFi and WiFi +3G & 4G (Black)
This is a very well constructed eye appealing product. The stitching, the simulated grained leather, the die cut panels to access camera/speakers and power button, are all very well executed. But the flaw is in the design. Specifically, the grooves that enable the Xoom to be placed in three upright posistions are too shallow to support the Xoom, and it will consistently collapse to a flat horizontal posistion when touching the screen. For instance, in the 3rd product image that they display in the ad, it appears that someone is touch typing at an angle. When attempted to duplicate this posisition, the Xoom imediately collapses to a flat posistion. The only way to prevent the collapse is to keep pressure on the base of the Xoom with both thumbs.( Note in the 3rd display photo, the thumbs of the user are not visible ) If you compare this product to the depth of the ridges in the Motorola plastic OEM folio, the Motorola ridges appear to be, perhaps twice as deep, and does not suffer from the collapsing issue. In short, based on my singular experience, if you're looking for an eye candy type case, ACASE is it. But if touch typing on an angle is a requirement, then this item will not perform satisfactorily.

Agreed on the first notch, it sucks. As for the "real leather" comment, it may or may not be but sure smells like the real thing.
Hi All,
I just ordered this case for my wife's A100.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0060N4OIK/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
I have a case for my A500, from the same manufacturer, that I am very happy with.
Should get it later today. I can post my thoughts on it once it arrives if anyone is interested.
Wow, this case looks excellent--just like the one I had on my Transformer. Thanks for posting!
Just e-mailed seller, no shipping to Canada, and no equivalent cases on eBay

Just wait, when they are new it just takes some time.
How is this only $15????? And eligible for Amazon Prime, too!
This case is absolutely phenomenal.
Feels like you're holding a dense leather rectangle of quality.
-Fit and finish is perfection
-Thing is completey rigid (no twist or slop-- unlike those bezel-covering slide-in-pocket flip cases)
- Stand is solid and stable
- The clasp mechanism feels fantastic (really, when this thing is closed, it feels locked down).
- Protects the screen, back plastic, and corners. Seems to offer about as much shock/crush/drop protection as any case I've ever seen, yet adds very little in the way of bulk and mass.
- Access to all ports/plugs
Can't exaggerate how much I love this case. Protection factor aside, the thing simply makes me like using my table more.
Thanks for the review! Definitely going with this case now.

Glad to hear my review was useful--post back with your impressions of the case when you get a chance.
[email protected]! I waited too long and Amazon is sold out with no restock date. There are several cases out there, but the Blurex was the only one I saw with corner clips instead of the chunky looking leather frame.
I contacted Blurex to see if there were any other resellers, and they said that it would be back in stock on Amazon shortly. A few hours later, and it's back in stock!
how sure are you that it would help survive a fall while open and in use...looks like it would pop out...
trying to decide between thsi and
the acer bumpter case
http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/LC.BAG0A.070
Depending on height of fall and hardness of contact surface, I'm not sure I'd bet on a pane of glass in any case, but the Blurex's corner-clips do hold the tablet with some serious authority. It'd take some funky, but not impossible, physics to pop it out.
The bumper case you linked to looks like what I had in mind before going for the Blurex offering. I figured the small form factor made the A100 more like a reach-for-it-and-go phonelet than a full tablet, so I wanted a hard, snap case with no flap to contend with. When using the tablet in portrait, I'll occasionally get annoyed with the folded-back flap, but the more complete protection and premium/professional appearance/feel of the Blurex case more than make up for it.
I received the Blurex case mentioned by the OP yesterday.
Quite frankly, I have not seen any case fit any device better.
It significantly reduces the amount of bulk the "OEM" case has;
Because it basically has *no* sides, it does not have the OEM case's problem of ports not lining up quite right; and
Its material seems higher quality and is easier to grip in my opinion.
Also, under current (not Black Friday) pricing, it costs only half as much.
Very nice case i like it
Sent from my A100 using xda premium
I received the blurex case today, ordered based on what I read here.
It does seem well-made and I very much like that it adds very little to the dimensions and weight of the A100.
At first the clasp that closes the cover annoyed me when holding it open in portrait to read like a book. (I use Kindle frequently.) The sharp corner dug into the side of my finger.
Then I got out a nail file and just lightly softened the one corner and that pretty much took care of the problem.
As a result, the rounded clasp actually works as a finger hold to grasp the tablet in one hand without putting my thumb on the screen. (See photos.)
Overall, it's a pretty good addition.
I ordered mine last night. I hate the actual case that acer puts out. Cant wait for this one to come in...
My BluRex case arrived yesterday, and it's even smaller than I expected. It a very nicely made case (especially for the price), and fits like a really tight glove (insert OJ joke here). My only concern is that the clip that holds the cover closed might wear through the finish on the side of the tablet over time. Otherwise, great case! Highly recommended!

great! thanks so much for the quick reply...after receiving the unit, and looking at it ocmpared to the car mount we have, think this case will be perfect for it.
Out of stock
It appears that Amazon is out of these... I've checked a couple dozen Google links for the case and they all lead back to the Amazon "out of stock" page.
Anyone know of another source for these cases?
Thanks.
Blurex was out of stock, but stumbled across this at Bureau En Gros.
Acer Portfolio, has a carbon finish and similar looking to the Blurex though not as slim as the Blurex.
All the ports and camera holes fit great. This model doesn't have a smell that i've read in other threads. It doubles as a stand too.
Cover holds down by a magnet, so no intrusive or wailing clasp.
Check out the attachments.
p.s. i had initially posted this in the A500 / A100 case thread, my apologies for double post
So Nolan, do you like the case?

This is a review of FlyGrip smart phone accessory which enables handling of your phone with one hand. FlyGrip
Some pieces of new technology are so innovative they become a part of new vocabulary. Some might argue if FlyGrip is one of those, but I can tell you from my personal experience that lately I have been referring to anything that allows me to hold my phone or tablet with one hand as "flygrip style" Now, I got a chance to test it out and to share with you my first "one" hand experience with it!
The product itself comes in a very cool package, something you would expect to house a premium electronic gadget. Along with a FlyGrip, you get an extra adhesive double sided strip, alcohol swab, 2 foam pads, a very detailed instruction chart and something I totally didn't expect - a high quality free TPU case. In my pictorial review I actually vent into more details about that case. I have tested a number of slim TPU cases, and can tell you this one feels like a premium Mercury case with a bonus of a better lip protection bumper. You actually get a choice of 7 different case colors. I chose a black one, very nice shinny outside with matte soft inside finish, all precise cutouts, not as slippery as some other cases I have tested, and with a great non-slip grip when you place it on a surface, and decent lip to keep the screen of the surface once placed down. Overall, I was very impressed with this generous gesture of including a free case. Another great benefit of a bonus case - you don't have to make a "commitment" which of your favorite cases you want to modify now to use with FlyGrip. A lot of Note 2 users have different cases for different occasions, so perhaps you can keep this TPU case for your FlyGrip functionality, or you can remove FlyGrip later and place it on to another case. Removal should be easy, although sticky double strip can't be re-used. For that you will need to use another one included in the package, or you can order for a few bucks a packs of more adhesives.
Now, to the FlyGrip itself. The one I got was in black, and there is an options for a ton of different colors, designs, patterns. It has a relatively small footprint; I measured it to be approximately 2.1" x 1.2" x 0.3" with the last one being a thickness when it's closed flat. Once latched, it securely stays flat and shouldn't pop open. It's actually a very clever mechanical design, patent pending, and latching itself should last for a long time since it's made out of high quality plastic material where you shouldn't expect wear any time soon. Once unlatched, it pops open allowing you to slide two fingers under the tab between the middle separator. FlyGrip comes in 3 different sizes, so it's not a one size fits all thus making you select which one will fit your hand/fingers better. For enhanced comfort you also get two foam pads, which could be placed for a snugger fit if necessary. Furthermore, you can tilt and latch the tab to turn it into a kick stand. This particular kickstand should work in both landscape and portrait for most of the phones, although for a large phones such as Note 2 the FlyGrip in small/medium sizes will only work in landscape while large one will work in both. I have been told by FlyGrip they are working on a new improved version for small/medium sizes and for those Note 2 owners who already purchased it - will send it as a free replacement once that solution is available. Another great bonus point for a company who is committed to it's customers to the point of offering free replacement to fix the problem, which honestly is not really that big of a problem to begin with since most of the Note 2 users need kickstand for landscape only.
Overall, this is a fantastic product of a very high quality and with a very useful functionality! One thing I do have to mention that by placing FlyGrip on your phone, you will not be able to lay it down flat on it's back without wobbling or type comfortably on your phone while placed on a flat hard surface. But I had no issues typing on my phone on it's back while on a couch. Plus, it also makes it easier to fish out your phone out of the pocket by grabbing FlyGrip. I also think its a MUST have accessory for anybody with extended battery/case. Just in general, its a VERY addictive accessory since now you want to drag your phone everywhere because of additional piece of mind that you have extra security to hold it in one hand without dropping it down! Definitely makes use of the phone a lot more secure!

I think you should actually go one size up.
This device is not good for long use. It hurts your hands. I have pretty small hands, and can fit a small. I bought a medium and it is still a tad tight depending on my grip. I think if you fit a medium, buy a large, and then get some soft padding and put it in to fill the gap.
Also, the pin in this thing is notorious for falling otu, but the FlyGrip people are nice, reasonable, and give good customer service so if something like that happens just contact them.

I also have the UAG that I use with my Convert holster but don't plan on using the FlyGrip with it because of the vents on the back of it.
imitation flygrip for $7 on ebay & amazon
my first post on xda... wow... only took me 4 years...
anyways, i'm sure i'm not the only person who found the imitation flygrip on amazon and ebay. if you haven't, just search for "Udilis Colored Universal Ring Middle Finger Phone Holder Stand Clip Support for Phone". the seller's name on both sites is meiego. apparently the product is also referred to as UGRIP (according to the included instructions).
i don't have either version of the flygrip to make any sort of comparison to the UGRIP but here is my two cents:
pros - the UGRIP costs $7 including shipping costs vs the flygrip which costs $30 without shipping. free shipping is also available for the flygrip with a coupon code. the UGRIP seems to be available in just as many colors; easy to install. personally, i found the UGRIP more comfortable than the imitation bunker ring, which i found to be too stiff, but of course that's a matter of personal preference.
cons - UGRIP ships from china - i ordered mine from ebay on 6/13 & it arrived on 6/24. extra adhesive was not included or available from the seller for purchase. UGRIP didn't come with free case like the flygrip. UGRIP's installation instructions are poorly written in broken english. personally, i don't like brand names i can't pronounce written in ugly font or their ugly logos, so i covered it with stickers of cookie monster & oscar the grouch
not sure if a pro or con - the UGRIP is available in one size only, unlike the flygrip which is available in 3 different sizes & comes with padding to customize the fit to your liking & comfort.
even though i listed more cons than pros, i still think the UGRIP is worth a try. if you hate it, be thankful you didn't blow $30 on a flygrip if you like it, & have a few different phone cases in rotation, you can purchase a UGRIP for each case instead of going through the hassle of uninstalling it and reinstalling it.
hopefully this inspires a true UGRIP vs flygrip review written by someone who has experience with (& the disposable income to purchase) both
i installed mine on the back of my uag case, with the bottom of the UGRIP aligned with the top of the arc that's on the lower part of the case. the UAG logo is covered, but i don't really care. i kinda haphazardly slapped it on so it ended up a tiny bit off center.
i ended up buying a 3 pack of extra adhesive in size medium from the flygrip website for $2.49. i used that coupon code for free shipping but without it, shipping for the pack of adhesive would have only cost 50 cents. hopefully the flygrip adhesive works for the UGRIP but if it doesn't, i have a bunch of double sided 3M adhesive from other products & rolls of double sided tape i can experiment with.i'm sure i'd figure something out eventually, but hopefully i won't have to resort to that.

That's what happens when you do so many reviews and can't keep up with all of them: my one review link gets quoted inside of my other review thread
ugrip pics
here are pictures of the ugrip.. i guess flygrip knockoff is more accurate than imitation or alternative. and yeah, i should also add in that the replacement adhesive i bought from flygrip is a thumbs up... it is cut exactly the same... but next time i would opt for size large instead of medium.

Does the Ugrip allow for kickstand capabilities in portrait mode? I know the first version of flygrip was really hard for a phone of the GNote 2 size to stand in portrait mode. Thanks, very interested to know...

My flygrip now works perfectly in portrait because the weight and weight distribution is different with the zero lemon.

as a stand in either portrait or landscape mode it works fine (as long as the surface is flat and hard). the ugrip will stay upright if i use it as a stand in portrait and place it on my bed, couldn't do so with the bunker ring). for use as a grip i prefer the ugrip. my sometimes chubby/bloated fingers found the bunker ring too hard and painful
For those who own it, do you think it's compatible with exomount touch cd?

Theoretically, it should work. From that video it looks like it works with Note 2 and Defender. Defender will double thickness of N2, so flygrip on the back shouldn't be a problem.
This is a review of Waterproof Bag for Note 2: http://www.tvc-mall.com/details/Wat...I9220-Galaxy-S-3-I9300-Size-19x10cm-HHC-2361/
Unfortunately, if you are looking for a waterproof case for Note 2 you are out of luck. All of the leading manufacturers who make waterproof (and I'm not talking about splash proof, but actual waterproof) cases refused to make one for N2 because of s-pen and not being able to have a removable seal around it. What is the next solution? You can have one of those waterproof skins but those have one time use seal tape and have to go on naked phone leaving it slippery and unprotected. Take that one to the beach and see how long before it slips out of your hand without any grip or handle or being able to wrap it in some kind of a bumper protection. I have been searching around for waterproof bags and came across one on tvc-mall.com website. To find one which fits Note 2 is a challenge because of the size of the phone. As a matter of fact, when I compared dimensions of the waterproof bag for original Note versus Note 2, I found bag for Note is more adequate for our Note 2. Therefore I decided to order one from tvc-mall along with other goodies I'm planning to review shortly. I dealt with these guys before, and can recommend them as trustworthy retailer.
No matter how good the bag is going to be, it has to fit the phone. This one has flat outline dimensions of 190 mm x 100 mm. The material is PVC and TPU, and it felt very durable. The upper locking mechanism made out of ABS plastic and has two latches to shut the seal very tight. Case is actually rated to go 10m submerged under water. Naked phone went in without any problem, but that wasn't enough for me to feel secure about the placement, in case if I drop it. So I actually used a typical slim TPU case to give it extra protection. As you can see from a picture I was able to fit it even with a slim case. But don't expect anything beyond that. It did present a bit of a challenge to take the phone out because of a friction between TPU case and inner side of the bag and of course tight fitment. But I managed to squeeze it out like a toothpaste without damaging the bag. BUT if you happens to have Case-Mate Tough case for your Note 2 - it fits PERFECTLY and comes out easily. With all around basic protection of Tough and waterproof protection of this bag - it makes a perfect combination. But any basic slim TPU case will work as well. Once the phone inside you have an option to attach an armband (included) or a removable lanyard/strap to carry it around your neck.
Inside of the bag, you have full control of the touch screen, as you can see from the picture me swiping between screens and also using touch button for menu. Home button is visible and easy to press, and you can find your way to power and volume up/down buttons. Although I haven't tried, there is not doubt you can receive and answer the calls while inside of the bag as well. One detail I found especially useful was an open window in the back for a camera and flash that will allow you to take pictures/videos, in theory under the water as well. For $7 plus change it's actually of a decent quality considering it's functionality. Overall, I found it to be a great addition for Note 2 especially if you are planning to take your phablet to the beach or outdoors where you want to keep your phone dry.
Here are the pictures.

I would strongly recommend using it with either Tough or slim TPU cases, with Tough being the preference since it's less sticky.
There is only one thing I'm not sure about Amazon case. When I was searching on tvc-mall website they actually provide dimensions of each bag. The one I got was specific for original Note and was 190 mm x 100 mm. While the one they had listed for Note 2, just like in this amazon listing, had dimensions of 175 mm x 100 mm. That extra 15 mm will make a difference especially when you have case on. Again, I'm just making assumption based on dimensions I read off tvc-mall and Note vs Note 2 waterproof bags. So once you get yourself, chime in with a feedback, and since you are dealing with amazon you can always return it back if it doesn't fit
Btw, remember I asked you about how to handle a phone at the gym? This would be a perfect solution. Just add one of those stick-on credit card pockets in the back to keep your drivers license, cc, and a few bills. Or maybe even try to stuff those inside of belt loop if it fits.

Yeah, I didn't think about that since it looked exactly the same. On Amazon it mentions the dimensions as: 5 x 4 x 1 inches ; 3 ounces. I'll keep this post updated with such info, esp pics and different cases, etc. That's very true about the gym aspect and card idea. I currently have my slim DBA Cases Six Abundant Case on it, so I know that will be perfect in this bag if it's the right size.
Just an update. Got my waterproof case today. It is exactly the same as yours. It fits really nicely with some room with my DBA Cases Six Abundant Case (a slim protective snap on case with smooth grip). I was also able to squeeze in 3 credit cards and my license in the arm band slot. I haven't tested it yet, but it seems solid from first impression. The screen of the Note 2 nicely responds through the plastic. Definitely something worth having when rain is involved.
PICS:
Great pics, bro! I never got around testing it with atm/credit cards, glad it works!

Thanks man! Yeah, seems like a solid fit due to the type of plastic - keeps the cards in place.
I've had my waterproof bag for over 2 years now. Been using it since my g2 was new.
It's been to Hawaii 3 times, been snorkeling several times, and come to water country (water park) with me. Most recently it comes in the pool with me almost every day.
It fits my note 2 with zero lemon + tpu + flygrip. It's a snug fit but it's fine.
I've posted about it on a few threads where people were looking for waterproof cases and no one ever seemed interested.
I was going to post pictures here but I took them with my g2 and it refuses to send them to me and I haven't felt like plugging it in to the computer to get them off there.
Mine is an Aquapac. Costs more but comes with a warranty that will replace your phone if anything happens because it's defective. I think it was a 1yr warranty.
Anyhoo... I love it.
Cons are...note 2 is nowhere near as good as G2 at taking underwater pics and video. G2 has a hardware camera button that allows a half press to focus.
Note 2 has the ability to use a hardware button to snap the pic but only way to force focus is with the screen which doesn't work underwater. So if it decides not to focus you're kinda out of luck.
Second con is that in a call I'm being told there is a lot of echo. Pretty much can't use it to have a conversation if the other person can't stand hearing everything they say repeated back to them. I didn't have that problem with the G2. Bummer.
I haven't figured out a way to fix it yet.
As far as the focus thing it seems like there should be a camera app that would allow you to assign focus feature to one of the hardware buttons.
Enough typing! I'm putting this thing in the Aquapac and going in my pool! Maybe I'll post the pics later...

If the question is to me, all stock! Just Nova Launcher Prime and a bunch of widgets (Rings Digital Weather Clock, Widgetsoid, Zoopoer Widget Pro, Smooth Calendar, Executive Assistant +, CircleLauncher)
Btw, I have done a test with this waterproof bag where I put water test strips (the one you use to check chlorine in the water) and submerged the bag for a few minutes in the pool. Everything stayed dry!!! My daughter dared me to do it with my Note 2 but I chickened out, but the moisture test proven to be OK.
Great Review, just order for one from netimes.com
Disclaimer: I do not represent the company in any other manner then as a customer. I received the product for free as explained below.
I'd like to begin by explaining how I came to receive the products I'm reviewing. I read a post on these forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2973627) which mentioned these new bumpers. After browsing www.funwatchbands.com I added some bumpers to my cart. However I never completed the purchase as shipping from the USA to the UK was a rather steep $18! I made comment about the shipping in the same thread. Not long after I received an email from the guys at SnuG containing a discount code which essentially meant all I paid for was the $18 shipping and the product was free. So I thought what the hell and ordered a black and a purple bumper on 16th December.
A few days later SnuG replied to the above thread acknowledging the issue with international shipping. They also added that they had thrown in a few 'extras'! Festive spirit a plenty! The items shipped on the 23rd December and I eagerly awaited what surprises the parcel would contain!
Today, 28th December I found out. The guys at SnuG can only be described as AWESOME! I ordered two bumpers and received 7 of various colour. Not content with that, they also threw in a complete black strap with clasp AND an additional blue, purple and red strap! I was genuinely shocked at the generosity. So thanks to all the guys at SnuG for extending the festivities of this time of year for me!
I'd like to just take a moment to point out a few things here. When unknown companies or representatives take time to interact with consumers on forums and social media it always puts my mind at ease about any thoughts of legitimacy. Kudos to SnuG.
Secondly it's good to see that they have acknowledged the issue with shipping costs and are looking at ways of reducing.
Moving on to the products then...
Quick word on packaging. Minimalistic and environmentally friendly just about covers it. The items came in a long brown envelope which looks like its made from recycled material. Aside from the products inside, there was a letter again printed on recycled paper and a small round 'insert' for one of the bumpers.
I personally like this type of packaging. Less mess and no fuss.
The letter detailed a brief few paragraphs about the products, their development and their future development. I get the impression from SnuG that they care a great deal about their products and how they are received, as it went on to say that although they are happy with the current version, they feel it can be improved and as such, they expect a new version to be available January 2015.
They kindly included a discount code to be used in January for a free new improved version. Cheers!
I'll begin by talking about the bumpers. Installation is pretty easy and self explanatory. I found that lining up the button hole and stretching the bumper on was the best method after a few attempts.
Fitment is pretty good. The bumper is a good fit in terms of coverage and the cut outs are spot on, however I do feel that one area it could be improved is in it's attachment. It can be 'accidentally' removed i.e. by coat cuff if caught. It's not enough of an issue to avoid purchasing but it may be worth waiting to see what January's version improves.
The material is a silicone and its a real decent quality. Feels hard wearing but smooth to the touch. Its just pliable enough that its not too loose, especially after installation. Like most silicone though, it does pick up dust and lint (from hands in coat pocket) but does brush off fairly easy. Seems to affect the black colour more then the others but that's probably because it shows up more.
Addressing protection, it raises a couple millimetres above the screen and offers a good knocks and bumps protection to the 360 body and to a degree, may deflect some potential screen damage - though that is obviously not its main intention. What its intended for, it does well. Silicone cases are as old as smartphones and are still a top choice for most. So this is tried and trusted really.
Colour options available give a good selection for consumer. If I had one negative to say about options, I'd say some of the naming of the colours is a bit misleading. "Chrome Black" doesn't make a whole lot of sense given its simply a matte black bumper. The colours themselves though, are bright and vibrant.
The only issue I experienced with the bumpers was 1 of 7 did not have the cut outs. It looks as though the cuts just didn't go completely through. Nothing a knife couldn't sort out though.
The only other bumper I've tried is a 3D printed plastic one from Shapeways which was truly awful. In comparison, these silicone bumpers from SnuG are on a completely different playing field where quality is concerned. And to be honest, I feel silicone is a far superior material to use for this purpose then plastic.
In summary, I've no real complaints with the bumpers other then the aforementioned room for improvement where attachment (hold) is concerned. I would certainly recommend SnuG bumpers IF shipping suits your pocket. On price, I'd have to be honest and say that at $29.99 for a pack of six bumpers is probably a little too much. I can see where they have come to that price, at $5 each it doesn't seem too bad, but for a multi pack $19.99 may have been more appealing. I'm sure if sales and interest in the products takes off, pricing will go down in time. However, considering there is very little competition out there so...
Moving on to the straps. At a good 5-6mm (which is about the same as the stock leather) thick they feel real solid. Again the silicone is high quality, smooth and rugged. The company logo is engraved into the silicone on each strap closest to watch body end - it's well placed, well done.
Installation was a cinch. If you've ever changed a watch strap, you'll have no issue here. Pop out the spring loaded pins, re-insert. Done. I had to cut a good CM off for a comfortable fit and I have average-to-slim wrists. With a few adjustment holes on the clasp too, you get a good range of size options which will cover larger wrist sizes too.
It's been pretty cold here in the UK so can't yet really comment on sweat resistance! However I can say that they feel really comfortable to wear. Having bought a cheap deployment clasp off Amazon previously and whilst it was functional, it was cheap quality I'm happy to report that the ones used by SnuG are of a high quality. You don't feel it there when worn. It springs open nicely when the buttons are pressed. It doesn't rattle at all when closed and feels secure and solid.
Quite honestly, I've not got a bad word to say about the straps. I can't see them having any detrimental effect on the watch back or contributing to cracked back. They slot in as well as the stock leather as unlike metal bands, you've no links to deal with here.
Again range of colours is plenty and I love that you can mix and match colours to suit your requirements. Add a bumper and your options for colour customisation are plenty! The straps do not detract from the elegance of the 360 thanks mainly to the quality of the silicone and clasp. This is a solid and sound product made with care, quality and pride.
I can only highly recommend these SnuG products. The silicone straps are a great alternative to metal and leather which may appeal more to fitness and sports persons, but not limited to. The range of colour customisation is universally appealing.

I get a really good feeling from SnuG, putting aside the freebies (genuinely), they seem like a sound, modern and professional outfit that listen to feedback and respond.
The products they produce are top quality and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again in future.
See the link below for a whole host of photos I took of the products I received.
Thanks for reading.

Are you guys able to say what will be different about the updated version? This is exactly what I've been looking for my 360. I got one of the 3D printed covers from shapeways a while back but it ended up falling off and getting lost (it was better concept than execution anyway). These look much better but I'm curious if you guys have found a solution to the bumpers being pulled off (maybe some kind of lip that grips the bottom). I appreciate in advance any reply!
EDIT: just realized you're handing out codes for the updated protectors. I'm buying a set now then!
Ordered mine on the 2nd didn't ship till the 6th and now I know why the USPS is broke. It left LA to go to Springfield, MA when I live in Missouri. Yup, that's how I would have done it. LOL
Once ordered something from Amazon that technically went twice past my house (on a map if you drew lines from places on tracking details) before it eventually got delivered! Given the warehouse it originated from is about 20miles from me, found it quite funny!
Great review. +1
Would also be interested in their steel bands for Moto 360. They look "okay" at best, but the connector to the Moto 360 itself in regards to the back cracking is what I'm curious about.

Their Facebook page recently updated a status with some details. Basically the only change is a more "snug" fit. Which to be honest, is all it really needs. The current version is far too easily removed by accident.
Updated Protectors
Hey All,
Thanks for the continued support. A sample from a new mold was approved and we hope to have them ready to ship by about the 20th and will be updating the site shortly to take preorders.
The feedback was used to make some very minor changes that will make a big difference.
The material on the inside of the protector is no longer as slippery feeling as the material on the outside which helps the protector stay on much better.
The lip that wraps around the watchface was slightly reduced to give a less bulky appearance.
The inside depth was also increased slightly to allow the lower lip to better wrap under the ridge on the watch.
We put the sample to the test on our 360 and pulled our arm in and out of a tight shirt sleeve several times and it doesn't budge. We can't wait to share them with you!
We will also be introducing some new options to the 6 colors we already offer in the upcoming weeks.

Awesome! And those of us who purchased the original versions will be receiving the updated styles for free, right? How soon should we expect them?
In an update to my review, I just wanted to add my extended experience with the products.
To be brutally honest, I'm not rocking the bumpers currently. Basically I was finding that too often for my liking, the bumper was getting accidentally knocked off. It's less of an issue when wearing baggier sleeve clothing but with tight cuff clothing it is a bit of a nuisance. Couple of times I hadn't noticed immediately that the bumper was gone.
This takes nothing away from the look, feel and quality of the product though.
Thankfully, I firmly believe the guys at SnuG will have sorted this. It seems like something that could be rectified relatively easy with some design changes. From what SnuG have said here, they appear to be addressing it.
The straps, I'm still rocking however! I've not yet returned to the leather. I can't see that changing anytime soon.

Don't know if it applied across the board, but I certainly received a printed note with my delivery which gave me a discount code to apply at checkout to get the new protectors free when they launch.
Got mine last Friday after the mail man took it half way round the world and back. I have not used the band yet but it seems very well made and has a good feel. As I purchased mainly for the protector and as much as I love the look and feel of it, there is no way it was going to stay on even without sleeves. I spent a lot of time chasing it down. I even tried using some narrow pieces of 2 way tape but with the material being silicon it improves it staying on just slightly. I did get the same card for the new version so I will be giving the 2.0 version a spin and hopefully can report back with good results.
New protectors
Anybody who ordered protectors, or a band that came with one from funwatchbands.com should have gotten information on how to get a updated replacement (If you got a protector for free / as an extra gift we can not replace it).
We are very excited to start shipping them out next week!
Next week we will also announce and start offering a new protector style option made from the updated mold with more to follow.
ANYBODY WHO PREORDERS A WATCHBAND SET OR PACK OF PROTECTORS BETWEEN NOW AND 1/19/15 WILL GET THIS NEW PROTECTOR CASE WITH THEIR ORDER FOR FREE! (no code to enter)
I Just ordered mine from funwatchbands.com (1x "Chrome Black" SnuG watch band SET for Moto 360).
I hope that I will receive the new protector!
I really want to protect "my precious", I accidentally did a small scratch on it yesterday and I was soooooo annoyed
Got the updated protector today and it is a wonderful improvement. I would also like to say that this company ROCKS. They are more than plesent to deal with and I will be purchasing more from them in the near future. Now I know everyone would like to know what's up so I took some pictures and will share them here. Now keep in mind that I am not using the Snug band yet because my main interest was in the protector. But the band is quality built and has a very good look and feel. I however have a cheep-o Casio band that I picked up for like 8 bucks. I like the styling of it even though it's cheep. I had to do a little trimming to get it to work but I am satisfied with the results.
Now on to the pictures of the protector portion of my purchas. As most know version 1 was prone to slipping off. They seem to have fixed this in version 2. The inside seems to have a better grippy feel. It fits tighter and almost seems to click in place around the back side of the watch. The surface of the protector has that same nice soft feel as the band and I really like the look and the protection it should give. The edge is less raised than the last version but still sits slightly above the face. Wonderful product with wonderful service from the folks at FunWatchBands.com
Looks like a great improvement from your photos. Lipping around the rear will make a massive difference.
Protectors are rubbish - don't waste your money
I tried version 2 of the bumper protector yesterday and it fell off as soon as I put my jacket on.
No improvement on version 1 in my opinion and I will not be using the bumper as it will probably just fall off.
Not suitable for purpose and Snug watchbands are ripping people off by selling this crap!
I'll reserve judgement until I see for myself or someone with more then one post gives their comments. I don't trust someone with one post, recently joined and all they had to say was bad.
I put it on yesterday and have been at work for 4 hours today ( it is required by my job that I wear long sleeves ) I have been checking my watch regularly to check how the bumper is staying in place and as far as I can tell it hasn't moved since I installed it.
Not saying that someone else might not have the same experience, but so far it’s a winner for me.
I made the recent purchase as well. And unfortunately my experience isn't so good. But with all due respect i just haven't reached out to the Snug Watch people to see if i got a bad batch. So I ordered a set of two protectors the red and the black. And as a really nice gift they added an extra protector free of charge.BUT!!!! my set of protectors just do not stay on my watch. Now its been freezing here in florida lately lol so ive been wearing a jacket and plenty of times i look at the face of the watch and the protector is gone. Ive tried all three just in case one was defective but i have the problem on all three protectors.
