Hey folks. Frequent XDA forumer here and new owner of a SGS3.
Unfortunately, my story begins with tragedy. I got my SGS3 just a few days ago, and last night it slipped from my pocket while I was sitting in a chair and fell 2 feet onto concrete. BAM, hairline crack along the entire length of the front glass. I have to say, I'm not too pleased (my Epic 4G took worse tumbles than that without a case) and I'm ordering new glass from eBay to replace myself because the $178.61 Samsung quoted me, and the $150 deductable I'd have to pay Asurion are both complete rip-offs just to swap the front glass. I'd also just like to go on record and point out that Samsung really dropped the ball not rubberizing the back of the SGS3; the phone is beautiful but like a wet fish to handle. I suspect it wouldn't have slipped out of my pocket had it been rubberized like my Epic.
So, anyhow, enough of my bellyaching. Once I finish replacing the front glass, I need to get this thing some protection. I've looked around on eBay and seen a lot of candidates (both brands I recognize like Otterbox and UAG and otherwise) but I'd really like to hear from you guys what you think.
Here's what I'm looking for:
As thin as possible
Rubberized back or TPU shell
Has a kickstand
No extended battery
Let me know your recommendations!
EDIT - I've now been through all ~75 pages of the "Post a picture of your case along with your S3" thread and, coupled with the suggestions from this thread, I've got this running list going of options:
Qmadix Holster Shell Combo (Metalix product line)
SEIDIO ACTIVE with Kickstand
Case-Mate Pop! with Stand
Cruzerlite Spi-Force
Trident Kraken
Fosmon/GreatShield Hybrid (A lot of alternative styles with kickstand here)
GreatShield Snap Stand
Tomaxx Silikon TPU

Awesome, that's essentially what I'm looking for; some minimal protection that's rubberized and sporting a prop. My only complaint about those Qmadix Metalix models is that visually I'm not really digging the style. They're a little too flashy; I was hoping to see something just all black. But who knows, maybe I'd get used to it. I was glad to hear that the kickstand is very durable, as a lot of the no-name brands I see on eBay have props that look very flimsy.
Would love to see any other suggestions, and thanks again!
I have this: http://www.amazon.com/Aduro-Holster...qid=1352610675&sr=8-6&keywords=galaxy+s3+case
The case its self feels nice but it doesn't protect enough. My screen still broke :crying: with it because it only covers the sides and not the top and bottom. The kickstand is utter **** and falls over when you breathe because the kickstand barely sticks out.
tl;dr: it blows

Perfect. I didn't see anything like that on the Qmadix website so I didn't bother to look any further. Gotta love eBay!
EDIT - Ah, I see it now, it's listed separately due to being a holster/shell combo.

EDIT 2 - Though the prop looks a bit flimsier on this Case Mate model, it does look like it protects a bit better due to having an edge that comes around the edge of the phone, which does add a bit of bulk. Anyone have this case?

I'm currently using a Seidio Active case, which has a sturdy kickstand, good protection, plus looks really nice. Really liking it, haven't changed cases since I got it

Cheap, but at least it offers some kind of screen protection, since it envelops all sides of the phone. In my opinion a case that leaves top and bottom unprotected is just useless since those are the areas your phone will most likely hit when it drops.
And it protects the screen when you put it on a table with the screen facing down.
The case has soft sides but most of the back and three of the sides are hard plastic. Only the bottom left corner is the same "soft" material like the sides are. Buttons on the sides are encased too, so no lint or water will enter there. Still they are working pretty well, need a little more pressure though. At least your phone won't activate accidentally in your pocket as easily as it does without the case.
The soft material is some kind of hard silicone or maybe that's what they call TPA(haven't yet figured out what that is). It has a rubbery touch and makes the otherwise slippery S3 a lot saver to hold but it's not so much that you'll have problems slipping it in your pant pockets.
The kickstand only allows for landscape mode and looks rather flimsy but it's not. It stays in place when closed and has no problem holding the S3 when in use.
Trident Kraken. You can throw your phone like a football across concrete and It wouldn't damage your phone. Plus its has a kickstand and different color choices.

I'm probably going to order one of these to try out. Inexpensive as can be and gets good reviews.

I've been looking at that one, though it's a little chunky and kind of on the "busy" side. In terms of protection, it does look to be one of the best sporting a kickstand.
EDIT - Updated my original post with some options for those interested
There are tons of great cases, but for the best deal, look on Amazon and search for hybrid case for galaxy s3. There is a case that looks like an otterbox, and it is tough and has a stand. Great deal too, I got mine for $3 including shipping.

You're probably talking about the Fosmon/GreatShield Hybrid (I've seen them branded either way). It's in the list I've added to my OP
About the Tomaxx Silikon TPU you've linked:
Tomaxx is probably only the name of the ebay seller. You can get that case everywhere, don't have to order from a german seller, when you are in the US.

Cheaper and more important: faster delivery.
Oh yeah your right. I didn't know that was manufactured by fosmon. They make so many products, and for the price, the quality is excellent.

if you want serious and TESTED protection and lots of color options but NOT SLIM trust me. get a case-ology impact case.
http://www.case-ology.com/shop-by-d...ices=251&limit=all&manufacturer=8&price=10-20
you can get them on ebay too watch for fakes
I have involuntarily TESTED these cases (SII and SIII) and they are truly protective. never a scratch on the phone whether I crunched it in the hatch of the minivan (ouch) or tossed it 15ft into the street when some wasps decided to teach me the error of my ways as I tried to photograph them
I avoided the stingers and learned my lesson. get a zoom lens hehe
I have the orange and blue one. $12.95 shipped. you can't beat it. they have TWO STYLES for the S3 so watch it. one has a oval around the camera one has an oval with a little "cut out" (you will see what I mean) because if you don't see the exact color combo you want you can buy 2 and mix and match parts I had to do that to get the same blue orange with my S2. so make sure the two you order if you do this are the same style.
you want the "heavy duty hard" cases with the 6 little "curves" on the back like this

its the only case I will use on a day to day basis because I DO NOT have $400 to replace this phone!!
I have one well over 18 months old. NO DEGRADATION AT ALL. the silicon has not gotten loose or sloppy. here is my S2 with the case that's been on it for over 1.5 years.
sadly the blue for the S3 is much much darker. (I prefer lighter brighter colors) so once I have more cash going to order a couple other blue ones and hope one of them is a "lighter" blue. (the S3 case is WAY darker than the picture shows a dark NAVY)

I read your post in the other thread with interest. As I understand it, you combined 2 different cases together (Blue and White and Orange and White) to make your Blue and Orange combo. Unique!
There does seem to be quite a few imitations of this particular style. The Fosmon and GreatShield models mentioned above appear to be virtually the same except for the branding. Either way, all reports of these models appear to be pretty favorable!
Cruzerlite spi (style) is the one you want. I have bought many of them (iPhone, galaxy s2, galaxy s3) and am satisfied with all of them. Grippy, slim, and kickstand works great.
You can get them cheaper on eBay

Excellent choice here ^^
I have purchased a ton of cases, this one is one of my favorites.
I ended up going with the Otterbox Defender when on the job,
and the Seidio Surface case when off work.
If I had to have the same case on all the time, and had to pick only one... it would be one of the Fosmon you link to.
You guys know me in the forum for posting a lot of reviews with pictures, all from original manufacturers. I'm fascinated with N2 accessories, especially cases It seems that we have plenty of slim and every day uses cases out there. But when it comes to a rugged case (non ebay), everybody turns to Defender as a staple of ruggedness. I had one too a few months back, used it for a couple of days, exchanged it for another one, called Otterbox support - all ended up being a common problem related to their plastic built in screen protector not sitting flush with a screen of the phone, thus ruining the whole touch experience, almost making it feel like a resistive touch screen. But anyway, we had plenty of discussion about this subject, don't want to start it all over again. I was also impressed with Griffin Survivor case for S3, but they never made it for Note 2. Survivor is even more rugged than Defender, and actually has full screen protection including covering of every single port.
So, once I found on-line someone is selling "copy" of Defender and Survivor for Note 2 - I was intrigued to see how it will stack up to the real cases. The results - I was actually very impressed. I don't want to go into details of case review/design since it's not necessary. I had real Defender before, and quite familiar with its construction and material feel. Knock off part is a carbon copy of it. It even weights the same. I was worried at first the inner plastic shell will be a cheap brittle plastic and outer rubber shell will be "sticky" and cheap. It's actually high quality plastic and rubber feels exactly the same. I do have to note that plastic screen protector part sits perfectly on top of the screen, no sensitivity problems even with me using iSmooth screen protector, and no marks from s-pen. It was thinner than original Otterbox, and I was even able to push a corner of the screen protector out, but then I press on it with a finger and it went back (the glue part holding it together is actually some sticky stuff that is not hard). You'll be the judge how it looks from all the pictures I took.
With Survivor, I can only judge quality of material based on a comparison with my Survivor case for my kids iPod Touch. Feels identical, and high quality. Again, plastic screen protector had some issues because it looks like it has two layers with inner one was coming loose. [EDIT] - it was due to inner protective layer which I had to remove. Screen protector is good!!! [/EDIT] - its a very impressive and functioning rugged case with superior protection. Some of the port plugs have a very thin attachment string of rubber, and I wasn't careful when removing a belt clip so micro-usb port got ripped out, but it fits very snuggly inside of the port and still functional.
The bottom line, those are not perfect, and I can't comment on longevity of their use. But based on the details of design copy and how it feels, not to mention the price - these are VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
So, here are the pictures for your enjoyment. Again, please keep in mind, these are NOT REAL Otterbox and Griffin cases, but rather "copy", where in case of Survivor it's a copy of the case which doesn't even exist yet!

It's a "copy" because Defender is not original Otterbox and Survivor is not original Griffin. It's a same as if you would go to China town in NYC and buy $50 Rolex watch. Except in this case the quality is VERY close to original...
To clarify, these are REAL cases that look, feel, and function like original (except for plastic screen protectors)... If you go to Griffin website, they do not even offer Survivor case for Note 2.

I also would like to know where did you buy them (send me a pm in case you don't want to post the store here please).
My Note 2 screen got broke yesterday ( the Protective Cover doesn't protect a sh*t) and althoguh I already repaired it I don't want to go through the same situation again so I'm looking for some really good cases.
does the survivor fit in the belt clip face in?
Vectron, the inner layer definitely needs to be removed, it's only to protect the plastic during packaging, same as a lot of products.
Do it, now, and your quality of life will improve immensely. This messy nylon doesn't belong there.
With your permission, to keep the discussion flowing, here's my review of the "Survivor" knockoff from the other thread:
Bottom line: Far from having any elegance in shape or feel, this big plastic/rubber contraption protects your phone really well.
It took me some moments of reflection to align myself with reality - it is what it is, a cheap Chinese knockoff model that doesn't even exist yet by the original company. Isn't it nuts?
I do believe Vectron's report that the original Survivor and this one are of the same quality. Even so, it's not good enough IMHO, I wouldn't have been happy to pay full price for it. For the price I did pay, I am happy.
The rubber feels toyish and cheap (I still stand by it!), not up to the standard of the device it covers. I'm just being sincere here, on any scale - it's kinda crappy.
Very sticky though, doesn't slide (face up or down), but can be a real struggle to pocket. The w/h dimensions aren't too crazy, but overall thickness is sick.
With only the inner hard plastic, the phone is already protected well. Then the outer rubber and front screen cover lock in. After careful setup everything sits well and secure.
All the cutouts (S-pen, earphones, USB, camera) have retractable rubber seals that fit good, even though the cut lines are a bit shaggy.
The seals' flexible parts are kinda flimsy, already my (and Vectron's) USB cover has separated. Still holds with pressure, but can get lost. It's just the way they manufacture it, a replacement will be the same. The other covers are held sturdier it seems. The cam cover is the next suspect though, the thin thread easily loses it's grip on the inner layer.
Buttons work great, access is quick and sensitive.
The screen sits tight and works perfectly. Doesn't feel as nice as glass (expected), or other quality plastics.
After less than a week's normal use, it's already foggy and scratched at some areas. No amount of cleaning or polishing can helps that. Still usable, and the sensitivity is as good as new. It's ugly though, and will become uglier no doubt. It's just a thin, cheap piece of plastic film, the same products' boxes windows are made from.
I'm looking REAL HARD at glass replacements now.
^^^ If someone has any insight onto this, please share!
Belt clip is very usable, lockable. Can't mount phone safely face in. UPDATE: Well, I broke it! Just with normal use, at the swivel axis. Another epoxy job waiting...
Tried a small workout with it attached to my pants backside. Bulky as expected, but it didn't fall, and felt pretty secure.
One or two drops of sweat landed on the center of the screen, quickly accumulated to the screen's sides, from there penetrating the inside, wetting the phone with my toxic acidity. I had to take the screen off and clean it later. It is not waterproof. It is not 100% dust proof either. I'm handy with adhesives and stuff so I'll figure something out it this gets worse.
If anyone is considering purchasing this case, I recommend it if:
1. You really need a full enclosure type of protective case.
2. You'd rather not pay $60 for it.
3. You order other stuff from them as well to make it worthwhile with shipment from China.
4. You are willing to forget it is a sleek, luxury, super high tech device from the future you're holding. :cyclops:

Funny you mentioned, cause I got those too, the earbud version of it I can't compare it to original beats to judge A/B, but the one I got had a lot of bass and not much treble. Felt a little muddy in lows and not clear in highs. Perhaps that's how original beats sound? But if you think about it, you can duplicate the look (package looks authentic, down to magnetic closure of the box), but you can't duplicate the driver circuit of those headphones. But typically cheap earbuds have exaggerated high frequencies and hardly any bass. These one have the opposite, which could be the signature of original beats?
Also, it came with in-line push button which actually pauses the audio you are playing, either mp3 or YT video. I haven't tried it with calling, but I wonder if its pauses/mutes the audio when you receive a call? Also, the headphone cable is neatly flat.

Maybe they are just unbranded ones. A lot of these companies just buy pre designed/made cases and stamp their logo on them then call them their original.

So I've seen a few people talking about bumper cases for the Moto X, but few people seemed to jump at them, and as far as I've seen, no pictures have been posted of the case actually ON the phone. Well, I wanted to explore some alternatives to a full case, and this would give people who use MotoMaker an alternative.
First, I purchased the case off of Amazon for $6.99 shipped. It comes in a few colors. I chose black on black. The case shipped quickly and arrived quickly via USPS.
http://www.amazon.com/Slick-Shell-P...&qid=1381544095&sr=8-3&keywords=moto+x+bumper
Please note, I only just received my Moto X and bumper case today. I haven't had a chance to activate the phone, and won't be doing so since I'm heading out shortly. Still, I need to nerd out a bit with this phone, so I'm writing a short case review. Note, however, that I can't say say if the case affects the function of the phone at all, but I highly doubt it. I will update with my thoughts once I get the thing activated.
Overall impressions: The case is quite nice. Minimal, provides protection for the corners, face, and back, and looks pretty good. It appears to be matte TPU with a thin piece of hard, glossy plastic to help hold it together. Here are a few pictures of the case itself:
This first photo is just the front of the bumper case, followed by a picture from the back. As you can see, it does have a little tab. I'm not sure what this is for.
{

}
And here we have all the ports cut out of the sides of the bumper case.
The buttons on the side of the case. I've never really cared for buttons on my cases and have cut them off of every TPU case I've had. We'll see how these fair shortly...
As far as I know, the following is the first picture of a Moto X actually sitting in this case. The case slips on pretty easily but sits snugly enough that I have no concerns of it sliding off.
Here's the back. You can see the tab once more. Again, I don't know why it's there, but it, surprisingly, doesn't bother me. I also quite like the "stairstep" that the case does. Just ads a nice flow to it.
The top cutouts align as expected.
As does the bottom cutout.
A picture of the buttons. They're actually VERY well done. I'm surprised at how pleasant they are to press and how solid they feel. You'll notice that they also stick out from the rest of the case just slightly. The recess around them also helps give a nice overall feel.
Here's the phone sitting screen down. The front of the case provides protection for the entire face of the phone.
And the phone sitting on its back to give you an idea of how far the case extends above the screen.
Finally, here's a picture from the side of the phone sitting on its back. From what I can tell, the back of the phone just BARELY sits above the table. I believe (although I can't tell for certain) that the case is the only thing making contact with the table. This seems like it should protect the back of the phone from scratches if it's sitting with the back down, but I can't be completely certain. I'd still do my best to avoid sliding the phone on its back just to be safe.
Conclusion: The case fits very well with properly aligned cutouts, looks quite nice, and seems to provide all of the protection that I wanted. It extends past the screen to protect it if the phone is face down, covers all sides and corners to help protect against drops, and seems to elevate the back JUST above whatever surface it's sitting on (I am not positive on this last statement though). It looks good, feels good, and allows you to enjoy the feel of the back of the phone and that Moto X dimple. If you have a MotoMaker version, this is probably the best way to show it off and keep it protected in my opinion.
As I said, I haven't actually USED the phone with the case on since I haven't had the time to activate it yet. I will be doing so tomorrow or Sunday (tomorrow's a busy day), and I will come back with any important updates.
If anybody wants to know anything more about the case or see different pictures, please ask and I'll see what I can do to provide what you're looking for. It just might take me a day or two, so check back.
Great review and thanks

wow thank you so much for this! I've been trying to find a good bumper case since I have a motomaker-made X, and this post has a ton of great info! A few requests:
Do you plan on removing the covers for the buttons? I would really like my purple ones to shine through, but I'm not sure how it'd work with a case like this...
once you've used the phone a bunch, do you think you could comment on how it feels with vs without the case? I really like the way this phone feels naked, but it's also very smooth and prone to slipping... does the case help with that?
thanks so much and welcome to the X-Zone! Enjoy your new phone!
Thanks OP for this much needed information!
The last picture seems to suggest that the curved back makes the bumper less protective...from what I can see, the phone sits on the table, not the bumper. Nevertheless, the bumper does provide some needed protection.
I also ordered one after days of hesitation. Mainly I ordered a gold skin from DBrand and really wanted to show-off will remember to post the pictures once I have both of them on the phone.
Here is the blue one on white moto x.

I have this case and while I really like it, I have gone back to another because the buttons stick out so much that I keep bumping them. I have to really pay attention when i put it in my pocket that i don't turn it on. This may be silly, but it is a change from the other cases I've had.
I wonder how well it would fit if I cut out the buttons.......hmmmm
I really do like the fact that you can see the back and feel it. Especially the moto bump

Having used the phone for a day and a half now with the case, I don't see myself removing the buttons. They have a great feel in my opinion, and I actually really like that they're slightly raised. I haven't had the issue that chrisomnia1 mentioned of accidentally turning the screen on when putting it in my pocket. If they were removed, I don't know how well this case would work given how flat the buttons are. That said, I had a TPU case for my Galaxy Nexus for which I cut out the volume buttons. They were recessed relative to the rest of the case, but I had no problems using them. It's basically a question of whether you want to spend $7 to find out.

I won't be using it much without the case, so I can't really comment on this in the long term. Although I'm cautious, I've dropped phones a few times and don't want to risk it naked. As for a quick opinion, as with all phones, it feels better without the case. I like that I can still feel the back of the phone though, as it feels much nicer than TPU cases. However, it is NOT a grippy case. I wouldn't say it's slippery, but I don't think it provides any increase in grip. If you're looking to increase the grippiness of the phone, this is not the case to do that.

You're welcome, and I definitely am enjoying it!
The bumper cases scare me to some degree.
1. With a white Moto X - the back gets dirty quickly. Looks like a put pine tar on my phone.
2. In the first few days I went naked, I picked up several chips/scrapes in the soft plastic on the back - this after having babied it waiting for my TPU case to arrive.
Gnex or S3 without a case (covering the back) - sure thing, replacement backs are a dime a dozen. Moto X without a case - not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent.
just got my black/red one and i love it! really great because it shows off the black in the front and the white in the back (developers edition)
real zaebis !
I like the MotoX naked, but my hands are kinda big, and coming from a GNexus--this phone is pretty small. I was looking for a way to slightly increase the size, mainly the width. Does this bumper fulfill that need?
Yes. I like it. In not a fan of cases, but this gives a decent amount of protection without compromising the design.
There's a new case listed on the motomaker website, AirJacket Grip case (made by PowerSupport). Comes in a variety of moto maker colors. Anyone tried that yet? All accessories on sale @30% off through Motorola site as well

I ordered one. $30 shipped. A bit pricey, but I have been needing a case, and hoping this is the case I've been waiting for.

It increases the width of the moto x by about like 0.25 in

Yes, I saw that and was interested in it at first glance, but, in the spirit of the topic at hand (bumper cases), it sadly isn't what I would consider to be a true bumper due to the clear back. But it's great it exists and that we have the equivalent of a Ringke Hybrid Fusion case for the X!
It's sad but it looks like the Moto G is going to be getting real bumper treatment (Motorola Grip Shells). I really hope they make some for the X too:

Pulled the trigger on this case... I like the Moto X naked but just want the screen raise so I can set it screen down with out scratching... ya I already have one in the dead center of the screen that I hope I can buff out. I HATE screen protectors.

I think you should try some glass ones, they provide protection and you can barely tell that they're actually there.

This is a Review of HTC One (M8) cases from UAG. http://www.urbanarmorgear.com/collections/all#htc-one-m8
Actually, I have to apologize in advance. As part of my review work I'm doing in this forum, please check out a link in my signature, I receive a lot of accessories from different manufacturers. Since I just recently got Galaxy S5 for my wife, I receive a package with a number of UAG cases and they also included a nice selection for HTC One (M8). I don't have the actual phone, but figured take enough pictures for you to get an impression of this case. I have reviewed UAG cases for iPhone, S3, Note 2, S4, Note 3, and S5, and this has been my go-to case with every phone I get. So, I have not a single doubt in my mind the fitment of HTC One (M8) will be as impeccable as with any other previous UAG case I reviewed. Below is my review of the case impression which is a similar to S5 case review I just posted early today (applicable to M8 as well).
UAG definitely got this distinct industrial design look, which unfortunately has been copied lately by some low quality look-a-likes. With a lot of companies once they got a winning design, they just continue making the same cases scaled for the next phone, year after year. With UAG, they are constantly tweaking the design with new details to improve the grip, to have it thinner and more flexible while still retaining max protection, and even to improve the packaging. So starting with packaging, they finally got some refreshing colors to make their box more appealing. Of course, you still get a detailed description of the features on the front and on the back, including an official stamp of approval meeting MIL STD 810G-516.6 Military Drop-Test. It's about time to add this stamp of approval considering it has been already drop approved by thousands of it's users over the years, myself including. As a bonus, UAG also provided HD screen protector which I found to be a very nice gesture.
The case is very lightweight despite its composite design where hard outer PC shell is fused with a softer TPU-like inner soft impact resistant shell with a signature honeycomb pattern. The idea of such fused design makes the case thinner while still retaining a decent drop protection, and also adding a convenience of quick one-piece case removal without dealing with two separate shells. You also still have an enhanced corner protection which blends in nicely with the rest of the outline. One new additional element was added to the sides of the case in a form of a lower/upper grip pads on each side which haven't been present in the previous design. This enhances the grip and also makes sides look symmetrical. I found this design improvement to be very effective. Along with a sculptured industrial lines of the back design with decorative hex screws, UAG M8 case definitely has a much better grip. Although case feels slim, you still get the same rubber lip around the screen to lift the display with phone placed down or to provide a protection when dropped. Along with corner protection, you still get rear skid pads that allow phone to be placed on the back without any wobbling and keeping it from sliding on a smooth surface. And of course you get all the generous port openings to accommodate usb cables, over sized headphone connectors, camera, flash, mic, etc. Volume buttons (speaking from experience of all of their cases) have a very nice tactile feedback and can be easily located just by sliding your fingers along the side of the case. I also like how they put an inner trim around camera/flash opening to enable a glare-free flash.
Overall, I know it's hard to choose a case with every new phone because market is saturated with new additions almost every week. And most likely nobody gets just one case because we change it for different occasions or extended batteries, etc. But when you are making this deselection don't be fooled just by something that looks "cool", because at the end of the day the purpose of the case is to protect your phone. Well, that and also making it look cool at the same time But protection should be #1 priority, and if the case is made out of brittle plastic that will crack if dropped or cheap TPU material that will stretch and pull, or fused layers that will come undone - you might as well carry your phone naked. Otherwise, look for reputable companies that has been around for awhile, those which have a lot of feedback on Amazon, and those who don't just sell a case but actually offer a support to back it up. UAG is definitely of those companies, and I highly recommend and use their cases all the time.
Here are the pictures.

Pictures attached. It's a really nice case, albeit a little difficult to remove (not as bad as Poetic Atmosphere for M7, though).

Thanks for the pics, I wish that last pic would of had the phone in it. The pics with the case on the phone were a bit dark but still gives me a good idea of the appearance
First of all: There already is a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714087&page=5
Secondly: The case is, compared to the one for the S5, worse in quality.
Just compare the volume rockers! The S5 has bigger and better built ones! All of the pictures are from @vectron!
M8
S5
Also, the solution to get the light from the IR diode from the M8 "through" the case is really cheap! They just cut a hole.
As a result, the button itself feels weird, and the one I had collapsed easily.
And now the worst part: How the phone is held in place inside the case.
They use thin rubber pillars to hold it for the M8, whereas they mold the softer plastic nicely into shape.
M8
S5
I really don't know why.
Thank you @vectron for the images from this, and the S5s thread.
Cheers!
This case looks pretty good, despite some of its obvious flaws.
However, I had to buy an Otterbox.
I don't even like the otterbox for the m8, I think it looks plain and boring, and it just covers up the beauty of the m8. But I work in a dirty/dusty place, and I NEED the rubber port covers to keep the crud out of my headphone and charger ports. On my old phone, I had to use a toothpick to dig out the bull**** that collected inside my ports. For some reason, otterbox is the only company that seems to be using port covers.
If the UAG had rubber port covers, which I don't understand why it doesn't. I probably would have bought the UAG instead.
Hey everyone. I also received the UAG case for review on my channel and website. I did notice the volume rockers were made of a different material than on the Galaxy S4 model from last year, but I think it's due to how the buttons are on the M8. The material and everything is still very solid and high quality though.
If you have any questions about the case feel free to let me know! :good:
I have the all black. It looks great but I hate how slippery it is in my hands. I miss my Otterbox where just enough soft rubber stuck out from the inner sleeve that it really stuck in my hand.
Just got my clear UAG case! Hands down best case I've owned. The gunmetal color of the m8 shows through the back of the case and looks amazing.

That clear UAG one would have looked great if they had repositioned their logo. The OCD in me would not be able to take how the vertical logo covers the horizontal HTC logo.

I got this case today on my mail (Rust Color). Brought it on Amazon last Monday.
I must Say the Case feel great on the phone. One of people biggest concerns with the first batch of cases was that the camera ring wasn't a perfect fit. I can happily say this have been fixed. My brother have a UAG on his S3, My wife have one on her S4 and I can say that this one feels as sturdy as the S3 and S4 version.
Now, some pictures for your pleasure:
Hmm, can't see the pics

The trident aegis series also has all ports covered, and for phones that have speakers or openings on the back they put a screen/mesh filter over those as well. I had one for an S2 back in the day, and I loved the case. Only reason I don't have them for my current phone is that I got hooked on kickstand cases, and they don't have those in anything but their defender equivalent case.
I'm debating between the clear uag or rust case and I'm wondering does the flash glare with either of those colors? If someone could test that out, I would definitely appreciate it.

This is a Review of Seidio OBEX Combo case for Note 3. http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-obex-case-holster-black-p/bd2-hwssgt3-br.htm
Let me first start by saying HOW jealous I am this case was only developed in time for Note 3. It was always my dream to have an ULTIMATE protection case for my Note 2, but that dream came true for Note 3 users (and of course S3, S4, and probably S5 as well). The challenge of being able to have a fully certified IP68 case wasn't easy for Note phablet due to s-pen and other port covers, but here it is - finally resolved! I don't want to sound like a fanboy, but it's really not a hype. Nothing currently available for Note 3 will come even close to be 100% Waterproof (continuous submersion), Dust proof, Impact proof, Snow proof, Exceeding MIL-STD-810F standard, and IP68 Water and Dust tight certified - all that in a slim design. Here is more about this wonder case.
Arrived in a nice packaging, once you take a tour of all of it's features listed outside of the box, you quickly realize that Seidio guys thought of every possible doomsday scenario. It can also give you a wrongful impression of some bulky over-sized brick to accommodate all that, though a sneak peak through the box display shows a slim profile of black and red design. Out of the box, the case by itself feels super lightweight at only 75g. It has an excellent grip and doesn't feel in your hand wider than a typical slim case. I have to note that my review is based on using a display model of Note 3, but it still gives you a very accurate assessment of the fitment. OBEX will completely seal your Note 3 from outside world. Every port, every button, every opening, and the display will be covered. At least right out of the box, it was a bit of a challenge to separate top and bottom of the case, but this is actually a good thing. You want to be sure that no matter what happens to this case, if you drop it or compress it - it will not come apart and the internal seal will keep any moisture from getting inside of it. As a matter of fact, it exceed MIL STD certification of up to 6ft drop. The material used in this case is high quality combination of PC and Thermoplastic Silicon Vulcanizate to protect it from any direct impact. The built in screen protect has 4H hardness rating and sealed to protect from any moisture. Internally, you have waterproof membranes to protect microphone and speakers without reduction of sound quality. Also, they used a special anti-reflection glass for camera lens protection so it doesn't interfere with a picture quality. Sealed power, volume up/down, and home buttons have a very nice tactile response. For a more commonly used S-pen and headphone jack covers, Seidio used an easier to access hard rubber flap, while for other top/bottom ports it was partitioned with a hard plastic flap with rubber stoppers. You can still get to your usb charging port, but you need to use your nail and apply a bit of force.
Though I wasn't able to verify this because I only have a display model, Seidio guarantees in it's product description that case will not interfere with radio signals, bluetooth, or NFC - it's all plastic, so shouldn't be a problem. I also have a feeling that wireless charging shouldn't be a problem either. As an additional accessory, it also comes with a waterproof headphone adapter which screws right into the port. But in general, the case is fully functional for everyday use without any limitations of it's functionality. True, it's 2-piece design is not very easy to take apart and you will need to use both hands for that, but that's the whole intent of ultimate protection. In addition to the case, you also get a heavy duty holster with a belt clip, a typical design from their CONVERT series. OBEX can go into that holster face in and face out, and the spring loaded latch has a sliding lock to keep it secure. With face out, you can actually lean your Note 2 in landscape so you can use the holster/clip as a kickstand. The belt clip has a heavy duty durable spring, and it's actually removable to work with Seidio Quest Mounting system to attach to their car mount, bike mount, as well as armband mount.
Overall, if you are looking for a maximum protection of your Note 3, to withstand any and every element of nature and still look cool while doing that - there is nothing else out there that can do a better job than Seidio OBEX case. Don't let the price scare you away, just visit Amazon where you can find this case at a much better deal. To come up with this level of protection for Note 3 was really a challenge that neither Defender nor LifeProof would even touch, but Seidio OBEX nailed it with flying colors!!! Highly recommend this one!!!

crappy case the sound is awful and call is a pain can't hear us with big echos redpepper case is better ! excep for the 3 buttons if you have a tepered glass protector
Add another one who has weary rubber (and partially torn) from going in and out of pocket only. Sound for talking on the phone with the case isn't that great either.
Great protection while it lasts, but far too easy to make scratches and tears on the exterior of the case.
Good job on the review though TC.

I think you'll have a hard time finding someone who is happy with it. I got mine when they first came out and returned it the same day. Proximity sensor wouldn't work while in the case, screen protector was already scratched and there was a glue type residue on the inside of the protector in spots. I'm more than happy with the RedPepper case for less than half the price. I tested it by leaving it in 3 feet of water for 20 minutes and it was still dry inside.

I'm more than happy with the RedPepper case for less than half the price. I tested it by leaving it in 3 feet of water for 20 minutes and it was still dry inside.
You're one of the few who would recommend this case, I'm glad someone likes it. RedPepper took the challenge and did a fine job, there are more positive reviews for the RedPepper than the Obex case currently.
Not to be picky but the RedPepper case has the same MIL-STD-810F and IP68 ratings.

I would love to find a official place to purchase these RedPepper cases. The Internet is loaded with fakes.

I was just going to say the same thing, if the Ebay ones are fake they did an amazing job "faking" it. I really think they are real though.
