AkiBa Metal Slider Series for Samsung Galaxy S2

I recently came across this brand while looking for a case, brand is AkiBa. They are made in Taiwan so I believe quality and fitment will be quite good. Its a slider type case so no screws to fasten the case. I believe they go for $59USD, I'm still trying to find a shop that ships to Canada.
What do you think of this case?

looks tough! although i don't think it provides any shock absorbing capacities

case is a variant of "sweet armor". I did a basic search "sweet armor s2" and i got lots of results. it's not the slider version but the screw version. try searching for it. one of them leads to this : http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=216196087

Which color do you guys think look best on a black S2? I'm think about getting black and chrome if I can ever find out where to order!!

Since the antennas are in the bottom of the phone and it's covered by metal I would be concerned that it would degrade signal quality.

I think the taurus metal case is too bulky. this one is slim
As with all metal cases, they will degrade signal quality, but only a little.
I think I'm in love with the black one lol

I was very tempted to buy the taurus case, but then I saw this thread. Now I cant decide, plus I cant find these on ebay. Could anyone, if its possible, share a link to buy one of these ? For EU.

father is going to Taiwan in a few days...might ask if he can have a look for these cases especially...if so, try to get a few and ship to people around New Zealand and/or Australia...?

Nice people here on the XDA forum! I'm looking into where I can purchase these as well and will help my fellow Canadians too if they want to pick up this case.

1. it will be difficult to access buttons, since they already thin
2. expencive

Hmmm....it looks good but I think it is not very handy to use a metal cover.
I love my silicone cover. It protects my phone and when I put it on a slippery surface it stays on it's place, I like that!
Also I think a metal cover will soon look less good because of the scratches on it!
When Your phone falls on a floor of stone it wont protect your phone, I think it will bring even more damaging risc.

The silver IMO looks awesome awesome...but looking at the photos, the recess on the buttons do look quite a lot...

One thing I hate about the sweet armor case is they still have the 'hole' for their Korean version TV antenna. It looks bulkier than the AkiBa too!
I think I found the sources for this cases! I will go ahead and order black and chrome for myself!

Suitable Tripod & Clamp for Galaxy Note?

I know you can purchase small tripods and clamps for Smartphones but of the ones I have seen the clamps only open up to 7cm.
The Galaxy Note however requires a wider 8.3cm
Therefore, has anyone seen a Tripod & Clamp suitable for the Galaxy Note?

Looks good? This cheap optical lenses intrigue me but don't know or if its worth the money. But looks like you can use that holder without the lenses.
What would you guys use one of these for?

I have a sneaky feeling it will not open wide enough to accommodate the Galaxy Note.
I know under the list of devices it mentions the Note but I'm skeptical of it's truth.
It's currently un-available to order on Amazon UK here.
I'll do a bit of reading later to see if I can find any further information on it's specifications.
The zoom lens doesn't interest me.... but the clamp and tripod yes.

It is perfect for the Note! can be used as a stand (a bit unbalanced)

I have the Zenus Mastrige Block Folio case. It has kickstand so i can use it as a tripod to take photos with timer.

Pleased this works for you.... but for me not a chance.
I need to be able to attach the clamp to a true tripod such as a Joby Gorillapod.
This allows you to put the phone into any angle you desire and have it held firmly in place.

Is the note not thinner than an iPhone which they show it holding? . Its a clamp and should work fine and looks like the best option thus far!

Normal clamps open to accommodate the 'Width' of the phone not the depth.
I couldn't make it out with this clamp but are you saying it is held by clamping the depth of the phone. If so surely that would mean clamping the back of the phone to the glass front?

Is it thick enough so the camera lens isn't touching anything it lies on?........looks from the pic that if laid on its back the lens may be flat on the surface it sits on?

I was looking was looking for the docking port cut out myself, until i released you most like cannot use it with a cover on anyway, cut out or not.

Tons of those on eBay, search for "one x cover s line". I've ordered 3 different cases, all hard. Don't really like those silicone ones..

I always buy gel cases, the silicone ones are a nightmare for collecting dust and fluff.
I would not have a hard case, as it gives no shock protection when you drop the phone, it does not absorb some of the impact as gel or silicone does.

Just checked it out, and yes it is thick enough to NOT let the camera touch anything when its back is on a desk or whatever.

I have the exact same case on my galaxy nexus. It is pretty good for the price. However, im passing on this one since it doesnt protect the camera part.

Yes I ordered on the 25th Night, and on the 27th Noon @ 11AM , I had that in my Home received. The quality of the product is superbb , as per all the 12 cases I have tried. Its really worth the money. I have ordered the yellow again due to the sellers great service.

You can get them for much cheaper at aliexpress, and they ship worldwide. $11.18 US, with free shipping. It just takes longer.
Also, I'm not sure if you think that's a genuine Google case, but I'm pretty sure it's a replica. They are all over ebay and aliexpress. They are basically the exact same quality as the real cases though, so I wouldn't worry about it.
But just keep in mind, someone on ebay, selling "genuine" Nexus 5 cases, for half the price as the play store, in mass quantities? That should easily tell you something.

peel off from edges
Does the case peel off from anywhere?
many reviews have reported the peel off from edges while many others say it does not. I wanna be sure what i am buying.

This is not an Orange that It will peel off. Silly Questions. Do U intend to use a product without wear and tear. Then Buy one and put it in the case and Lift it up in the Showcase.

There is another thread about these here. They are rougher cut than the genuine ones and the red/orange one does in fact peel. Mine started peeling after only a couple days.

Not silly at all... Do a quick search here. Lots of people have the peeling problem. Other people have put skins on their cases because it peeled quickly. These cases are no different. The original cases from the Google Play Store, or replicas like the one you bought. Both peel quickly.

It depends on usage. Its a week now, and I dont have any problems paying 1/3 rd of the Google Price for this and i am satisfied with the Build, Fit and the Quality.

That's fine. I'm not telling you not to enjoy your case. Many people do enjoy them.
I am just saying that lots of people have reported it peeling, so to dismiss it as silly without doing research first is not being very honest to people.
Also, it is good that it is 1/3 of the price as the play store case. It is a replica/copy, so it should be cheaper. It can be found at other places for less though.
I doubt that ebay seller is actually importing it from the USA like it says... It is most likely bulk buying from a Chinese vendor and reselling. They would be losing ridiculous amounts of money if they were importing genuine cases from the USA and then selling them for 1/3 of the price on ebay.
Also... that ebay seller is linking this thread, your deviant art page, and your linkedin as references for their product review.

My guess is it wasn't hard at all, they just choose not to because they're making the metal wrist strap a premium item for a higher profit margin -- but they don't want the price reported as $300 in early reviews and news stories.

Devices come out all the time in different configurations at different price points and it doesn't seem to bother anyone.
Also, If it's so easy and they want the profit margin, why not sell the accessory now? The best time to sell accessories is right away before interest tails off.

Buy it or not, I don't really care. I have worked at Motorola myself, and my career for the last two decades has been in consumer electronics. I know whereof I speak.
They're almost certainly delaying just to game reviews and get more profit. (It's $50 extra for phone with metal strap; want to take bets on whether the metal strap alone costs more than $50?)
Think about it: the strap is by far the easiest part to make. There's no reason to delay it, or at least, no production reason.

I ordered the black one off Moto's website. Delivery estimate is 9/10/14. Not bad. Only problem is the battery life. I hope its replaceable.
