LG G3 D855 "Flashing blue and red" giving "secure booting error" - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! I want to address my issue as clear as i can.
I have this stock LG G3 with android 5.0 LP (Lollipop) that worked really slow and buggy. So i decided to "Wipe the phone" and refurbish it, i thought following the steps of this guide would do the trick (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089)
I looked in my "Settings>About Phone>Software" on my phone, and it said i hade software version "20h-EUR-xx"
I downloaded LGUP and a ".kdz" that i thought would fit my phone. The KDZ i downloaded was "D85520h_00.kdz" as i saw this as the most suitable for my phone.
I then followed the steps "TO DO A FULL WIPE AND INSTALL MM" throughout.
(Sidenote: I didn't have Marshmallow when i started the flash. Could this be the problem? also: I think the KDZ i used in this flash is a LP (Lollipop) not a MM (Marshmallow), though i followed the guide steps that stated "TO GO BACK TO LP FROM MM".
Can someone confirm this for me? And could that be the reason for my problem?)
I opened LGUP as ADMIN, my phone was recognized instantly so i proceeded with clicking on the "..." under the tab for "FILE PATH" to open the browser. I was only enable to look for ".TOT" files though i had a ".KDZ" flash file. So i closed LGUP and restarted it, but NOW i checked the UPGRADE option instead of REFURBISH and once again browsed for my ".KDZ". Now i had the option to select my ".KDZ" file, so i selected it and then closed LGUP.
When i started the LGUP program again my ".KDZ" was set as the file path and REFURBISH was also checked. The BIN checkbox was also checked so i proceeded to start the flashing.
The flash went fast up to 8% and then it waited for my phone to restart, Once it had restarted it went straight up to 80% and went pretty slow up to 100% from there.
Everything seemed to have turned out Great! The LGUP program told me the flashing was done and said "click here" in the "STEP" tab where the "progress %" had been displayed.
I clicked where it said "DONE! Click here!" and just sat waiting for about 30 seconds.
But nothing seemed to happen...
i waited 10 more seconds and still nothing happening on the screen of my computer or the screen on my phone. So i picked the phone up and held in the power on button.
Nothing happened, so i held in both volume up and the power button, still nothing, i held all three buttons.... Still nothing, i pulled the cable out. nothing.
Then when i pulled the battery out and reinserted it the screen came to life, giving me a "secure booting error" and then the front led started flashing red and blue.
I NEED HELP WITH THE STEPS OF HOW TO GET MY PHONE BOOTED AND STARTED AGAIN!
THANK YOU in advance!
I have searched for someone that has the same problem but all i can find is solutions for slightly different phones with slightly different problems in one or the other way.
I can get the phone in "Download mode" if that is to any help. I don't know about Recovery mode at the time of writing!
As a sidenote: I don't know if i had usb debugging set on or off when i flashed the kdz.

What it your model number ? Are you sure that you have the international version (d855) ? Check it by removing the battery and looking next to the S/N . If you have the D855 model you should see LG-D855. I am asking this because you may have downloaded a kdz file for another model. And why use LGUP?...the best way is to use a custom recovery like TWRP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-2-8-2-0-t2966129) It is much easier to install roms with TWRP simply by flashing flashable zips.

Boot into download mode and follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
Try to use the TOT method, but if you really need the kdz you can try to download the kdz again and reflash the phone (use CSE flash because MM is a major update!).
Maybe it was a bad download or a bad flash.

People use LGUP to flash stock rom/recovery/modem/etc... and keep the bootloader locked while TWRP is for custom rom

My model number is D855 yes, i already double checked that.
The KDZ i used was "D85520h_00.kdz" it seems to me that it was the right KDZ because of the first part in the filename "D855(20h_00.kdz)"
I used LGUP because it said in the guide i followed that LGUP could flash both TOT and KDZ, it seemed really easy too!
Thanks for helping and the tip about TWRP, i will try that later!

I followed your advice to follow the guide. As i could not find a TOT file for my specific application and i already tried the LGUP program for flashing my "D85520h_00.kdz" KDZ. But this time i tried the KDZ method in download mode instead of using the TOT method and LGUP, and it worked!
The flash turned out good and my phone is fresh again, thanks!

Just curious, did you use this file from codefire with your LGUP?

No i did not use the 8974 dll from codefire. I used the dll that was supplied with LGUP in the guide, i think it was the 8994 dll
Edit: The LGUP method did not work for me with the 8994 dll... So maybe it could have worked with the 8974?
Either that or i had a faulty kdz on my first try

I think that the .dll that came with LGUP is for G4 so codefire provided G3 version. That was probably all of your problems.

[Q] LG Optimus G Soft-Bricked? Please help me to recover my phone

Hey Guys,
First post and i already got a problem because i messed up very much
I used to have Cyanogenmod 11 on my Optimus G, but i got several crashes and i wasnt completely fine with it so i wanted to try something new. So i updated my bootloader from CWM to TWRP and wanted to flash Artmod 5.2 Rom. I was a bit fast with my wiping, so i accidentally wiped the whole phone, so that everything was gone: Cyanogenmod, new Artmod rom i wanted to flash just everything.
I read a bit and thought it shouldnt be a problem then to just sideload the new rom, which i tried to do. I used adb sideload to put Artmod on the phone, everything was fine, flashing went through but i got stuck at the LG boot logo at the start of the phone. I waited like 30 minutes and nothing did change, so i thought something was not right.
I then just wanted to go back to cyanogenmod, tried to flash that through the adb sideload procedure but i got an error which said "error executing updater binary in zip 'tmp/sideload.zip'".
I was kinda thinking something really messed up so i tried to revert the phone to stock rom with the correct KDZ file i searched with the tool linked in the FAQ, everything downloaded but when i tried to flash the KDZ it gave me an error like this:
"12:03:59 Launching SW update
12:03:59 Unpacking KDZ
12:05:10 KDZ file extracted
12:05:11 Extract file error
12:05:13
===FINISH===="
So i searched the forums again and noticed that it should be a problem with the KDZ updater tool because the KDZ file was too big to get flashed properly. I wanted to try the LG Flash Tool 2014 then which is provided here in the forums and should work, it extracted the KDZ file, then opened the LG Mobile Support Tool to flash the file on the phone but there i start to get errors again, it either said that i am already on the correct up to date software version or that i need to disconnect the USB cable, remove the battery, insert it again, restart and try again.
I used several tools for that, i even tried it with an offline method that i found in a german forum, but every method got me the same errors, so i couldn't even go back to stock anymore.
I once tried to flash Cyanogenmod then again when i realized that the error message also told me "This Rom is for a "E975", this is a "GEE"" which i did not completely understand because it should be the total same? I edited the Updater-Script in the Zip file of the rom then and removed the part where it checks for that (1st line actually), then the rom did flash properly, phone started to boot (Cyanogenmod Boot Logo was shown) but when the boot was over i got the message:
"Type Password to Decrypt Storage" with a keyboard to enter the password. (I did never set up any password for that).
Now i am completely confused what i can do the recover my phone, either to stock or just to another rom, every method i tried did not work and i dont have any other ideas.
I can go into Fastboot, Recovery and Downloadmode, but when i tried to wipe again in Recovery it says that it cant mount my data mount point (probably because the storage is encrypted).
Somebody told me to do a hard reset with the keys "Volume down and power" which i tired several times, but everything i get is just the Google boot logo and then happens nothing or i get the Google logo, then the LG logo but after that i get stuck again, I cant seem to go into the "Hard Reset" menu which i should get into with that keys.
Anybody can help me what I could try or got a solution for this? I would be very thankful. I don't wanna loose my phone

Don't worry, that's pretty standard scenario for the first post...

Flash Tool 2014 works great for me every time, so try it again. Make sure you disconnect from the Internet before running it (yank out your LAN cable, or disable your WiFi), so it doesn't attempt to connect to LG servers. And don't forget to put your KDZ file in the same directory with the tool. It should go through just fine. That's by far the easiest method to revert back to stock, to get you to a clean starting point.

Umm... No, they are not the same. E975 is "geehrc", and there is no such OEM ID as "gee". There are many different OG variants. For the cross-reference between the models and OEM IDs, you can look here. Generally, you should stick to the ROMs that are designed for your model, unless you know exactly what you are doing, when trying to flash a ROM from a different platform.

Well i tried Flash Tool 2014 again and seem to get the same error that wants me to disconnects as it stops at the same position like it always did, also doesn't matter if I am connected to the internet or not, everytime it doesn't run through. This time I couldn't even read the stuff that was written in the LG Mobile Support tool because it only shows "????".
Heres a Screenshot:
The settings i made should be the right ones I think, the phone does get recognized by the computer when i plug it in because of the sound that windows makes.
I clearly dont't know what I can try anymore...
And according to the roms: well i only used roms for the E975, which is exactly my phone model, thats why i was wondering about that error message i got
Artmod is for E975, the CM11 was for E975, i even tried Mokee rom but i always got same error messages...
Nobody got another idea? I really am confused because if i can enter downloadmode and recovery there should be a way to get my phone back working.
Anybody knows where i can get maybe some older KDZ Files to go to 4.1.2 Stock rom and try to flash these?
problem

I don't know why you are seeing "???", but here is a couple of things regarding the settings, based on your screenshot:
1. Type should be CDMA (yours is 3GQCT).
2. PhoneMode should be DIAG (yours is CS_EMERGENCY).
3. I would suggest using CSE Flash for a full format (you are using Normal Flash).
Remember, this is a hacked tool, so the settings might not make perfect sense, comparing to the original ones. Just try following the instructions in the OP of the Flash Tool 2014 thread. Like I said, works every time for me...

I don't know why i see "???" also, but it didn't matter
I just tried the settings you told and used CSE Flash which worked out really well.
No i am back to 4.4.2 LG Stock rom. I think the root is gone now, but one thing i wanna ask is if my bootloader is still unlocked and custom recovery is still on it?
Anyway, thank you so so much! I appreciate your help! Thank you!

Glad to hear you are back in business. After flashing KDZ, the root is definitely gone, your BL is locked, and the recovery is stock. You will need to do all the necessary steps again: root, unlock the BL and flash custom recovery.

No such option in the current LG Mobile Support Tool.
When I start it, it checks for software and says I'm up to date.
It lists "Software version: _" which doesn't seem right.
LGFlashTool:
Fails for me every time.
New USB cord on back ports, have tried different ports.
It gives a PID, correct model and IMEI.
Checks Milky, DLL, bin CRC. I've re-downloaded the bin anyway.
When the phone is reconnected, it shows on COM41 and flashes.
System, tz, boot, rpm, aboot, sbl3/2/1, modem.
Then it says Factory Reset and Reboot sleep time
It then reboots and seems to fail recognizing the phone afterward. It gives error F0000002 and says "Download FAIL!!" at 95 or 99%.
LG Flash Tool 2014:
From what I gathered, there IS NO KDZ for the e980.
It was recommended to me to flash the Central America e980H KDZ to possibly restore the bootloader/recovery.
This gets to about 95% and then the phone reboots to the LG logo and hangs. After several minutes of waiting, it says "Upgrade stopped due to an error" and prompts me to try again after removing the battery. This just happens over and over again.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I've flashed the g, k and p tots. One won't even allow me to enter factory restore. The other two just hang if I do, or hang at the LG logo if I don't.
I've also tried following the instructions to make a restore microSD and tried another pre-built one, but it doesn't seem to boot/restore from the card.
What options do I have left? Can anyone help? Thanks.

Refer hyelton's guide for getting stock rom on our phone. Use the flash tool provided in the thread and probably you will be good to go.
Sent from my LG-E980
I assume you didn't read the post? Thanks, but that's the first thing I tried, with every compatible .tot and kdz that exists and every LG flashing tool available. I'm not a newb to rooting and unbricking phones. No offense, and I do appreciate that someone finally replied, but if I wanted someone to tell me to RTFM, use the search, or read the stickies I wouldn't have wasted peoples' time with a post and all of the details of what I tried.
I assume at this point that it's pretty well screwed and nothing short of a JTAG will resurrect it, if that even will. I'm leaning toward a hardware fault or something lower level than any firmware/baseband flashing will touch. :/
How did you bricked your phone the first time? Because if you can enter the download mode to use the flash tool, it shouldn't require you to load from the SD card or use jtag to repair the device. Those are the techniques for the device that's completely dead.
Right, but I tried flashing all of the US .tot images as well ask a kdz for central america. I tried flashing using different tools. I have tried literally every possible way that I can find, and it has the same strange problem of hanging at the LG logo and at the "hard reset" factory recovery screen.
It was brought to me as having a "software issue" from a bad update. I wasn't able to determine whether that was factory OTA or flashing a rom, but this thing apparently has some issues that a flash to 100% factory will not resolve. Either it's unable to flash itself through download mode, or it flashes and they all have the same problem afterward. I re-downloaded and re-checked the md5s over and over again. Tried different ports and cables, despite never having had a problem before on this computer with a dozen other devices, several times each.
I'm fairly certain there's a low level firmware or hardware fault so I've ditched the phone. No purpose in continuing the thread unless someone else has the same issue. And in that case, I cannot help without obtaining some kind of adb or fastboot.
Thanks for the replies all the same.
May be the motherboard is the problem?
Try charging

If you ever flashed KDZ to your e980, LGFlashTool will not allow you to flash TOT files by means of Download Mode, because there's a check for device model which doesn't match (that info afaik is based on SBL3 content).
If you have Dowload Mode functioning: (1) flash any KDZ (preferably for the same size of memory, 32GB) and you will have a working phone; (2) root the system; (3) replace boot partitions by those from native e980 installation (all together) by means of dd command; (4) flash native TOT file from Download Mode.
Be very cautious while on p.3. If you do this wrong, you will have a hard brick which will require special tools to fix it.

Bootloop or something else?

So I rooted my phone by installing the rooted 13b img. And went to install xposed framework and apk. I completed all the steps found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/themes-apps/guide-installing-xposed-locked-t3181593), and now it is stuck on the android logo....suggestions on what do do from here?
A little more detail: After completing steps verbatim, it would fail to install framework. I then read somewhere else that you need to uncheck not only auto mount but the mount option, as well. I tried that and it seemed like it must have worked as it didn't immediately fail and reboot. However, it got stuck on the android logo and after an hour or so I realized there was problem. I have pulled the battery and rebooted several times. I can boot into download mode, but cannot get it to fully boot. Since I could get it into DL mode, I used LGUP to install the 24C MM update (as I didn't have the 13B on my computer). But the result is the same...stuck on the Verizon logo even after a successful install of 24C.
Is this a case of the hardware failure that others are experiencing or is this software related? I see a lot of people with bootloop issues and mine seems to be similar but different. Mine does get past the LG screen to the next screen, but even installing a stock kdz doesn't seem to help...
UPDATE:
Well I downloaded the stock 13B kdz and flashed it via LGUP and it somehow managed to boot. It looked like it was going to be stuck on the Verizon landing page but after about 10 seconds or so it completed boot up. I have now installed the rooted 13B image and made a backup img. I might try again to install xposed framework - fingers crossed it doesn't screw up this time...
Use hyleton's 'LG G4 Stock Firmware (Go Back to Stock) KDZ & TOT Method' that uses LGFlashTool2014.exe and do a CSE Flash - this will wipe all your data though

Thanks, I'll look into that. I was hoping that using LGUP to reflash to stock would do it...but I guess I have to remove whatever the flash tool put on my phone when trying to install the xposed framework...

LG G4 H815 Euro - Troubles flashing stock ROM

Hello to all of you,
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I bought second hand a LG G4 H815 with CyanogenMod 14 already installed on it.
Everything was fine until I installed my Ebanking apps, that would not function with an unlocked bootloader. I needed to return to a clean factory safe state...
It was the second time I flashed a rom in my whole life, the first one was a Galaxy S plus years ago.
I followed all the instructions for the KDZ flash in this tutorial but I stumbled upon a "Upgrade stopped due to error" in LG flash tool.
I retried 3 or 4 times but with no luck. I verified that the ROM was correct for my model and it was. European and all...
I tried LGUP but my phone is unknown ( at least it's detected)...
I read some posts and told myself "I probably have messed up something, let's try it again with a fresh thing"... I clicked on the factory reset button and carried on.
There the phone booted on TWRP (That i didn't know existed before this). As I explored the menus with a TWRP google search on the computer, I began to realize that the factory reset was maybe a bad thing to do with a custom rom. I tried to reboot but I always end up booting on TWRP.
I re-tried to flash in download mode, but with always the "Upgrade stopped due to error".
I also tried to flash directly from TWRP a stock rom. Didn't work.
I was beginning to lose it and tried to flash the CM14 version I had before, juste to have a working phone again, but even this didn't work... I'm stuck with a TWRP phone
I need some help there...

uninstall any drive for g4 from pc and reinstall again and lgup. now reboot phone to download mode when lgup is open first check upgrade opsion and when open kdz check refurbish opsion and start. good luck
Thank you for your answer
Still no luck
Uninstalled drivers
Rebooted PC
Reinstalled the drivers
Still unknown device
The best way to flash stock image is to use official LG Bridge app. Download it, turn off your phone, connect it to PC while holding volume up button - phone will go into download mode. Then there is option for software restore in LG Bridge but i won't tell u where exactly. If it won't work i would try on another PC. If it won't work maybe you would be able to flash stock image trough send_command but i won't help you with it.

LG G4 H815 Download Mode reboots after ~10 seconds

Hello, first of all I want to apologise if this problem was already discussed, I tried searching in threads and also using the old friend google, but found nothing related.
So, yesterday, I managed to flash the a.o.s.c.p cypher OS (https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/g4-cypheros-t3680102), Oreo version, and after I tried rooting with Magisk I've got bootloop issues with the rom. After this, I reinstalled the zip file and it managed to go back to the OS, but every installed app would crash when tried to open. Because I did not find my backups (not too organised, I know) I tried flashing through LG UP the "LGH815 EU Nougat 7.0 BySezerSimsek.tot" file I had downloaded on my laptop, unfortunatelly, after 10~ seconds, the download mode just restarted and since then (though, it was doing this before I tried to flash with LG Up, but I thought that after I start flashing it will not reboot...), everytime I try to boot my device either normal or to recovery mode, it goes automatically to download mode, where it stays for 10 seconds and then reboots (So I'm not able anymore to use LG UP).
Also, tried LGMobile Support tool, but because I cannot keep the phone in download mode more than 10 seconds, it fails to do anything, it finished to download a firmware for it, but was unable to flash it.
Is there any chance I can "revive" it? the battery was about 50% when I started the first try with download mode, so now, it should be around 20-30% I guess.
In Download Mode, in the box, it says:
633A B49
Modified
P.S.1: After reading some more threads, I found that some people were stuck at 9% while flashing with lg up, but for me, as I said before, the download mode just keeps restarting no matter what I do with it ( even if I just leave it not connected to the pc)
P.S.2: After some more flashing with LGUP tries, I came to conclusion that the download mode restarts after ~17 seconds, and now, in the rectangle it says:
633A B56
Modified
P.S.3: I have been trying to flash "Europe H81520D_00_0115.kdz" and sometimes, if I get the timings right, I can get up to 25% (it restarts at 9%, ~19% and then 24-25%, so, it doesn't always give error after restarting and reconnecting to LG UP). I used the .dll extracted from .kdz file.
Hello, i have the exact same problem as yours with the same custom rom.
My phone stays around 20 seconds in download mode, i can launch LG UP to flash H81520i but 20 seconds is just not enough to flash the LG G4 firmware AFAIK.
I did see that there are some ways to launch the Qualcomm emergency mode but we'll need to disassemble the phone to short two pins to force it to boot in this mode.
I finally found the solution ! Follow this tutorial : https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-proper-h815-unbrick-qfil-files-t3709212 You'll need to disassemble the phone in order to do this tutorial, after you've done the emmc flash you will need to reflash a rom with LGUP.

Thank you for the reply.
I already fix my G4, but unfortunatelly I do not have like a detailed fix because: I went to a "Phone repair shop" and I left my phone there for one day. As I said, before I was not able to boot into recovery, the phone was restarting in download mode after ~17 seconds, and I had no idea about the battery percentage.
The next day I took back the phone and the guy there told me that there was not much he could do, but when I got home, the moment I tried to boot it, it went to recovery mode (twrp) where I tried to install a ROM (I forgot which one, but it was a .zip) and it failed to mount /cache. After that, I tried booting into download mode where it stayed for as long time as I needed without restarting. I was trying to flash 20D version (failed at 25% everytime) until I found this thread where the advice was to use the 20P version. After that it just worked fine.
So, I have no idea what did the guy from the "repair shop", I don't now if it was just related to my battery "running out of juice" or maybe he used any other "magic" box with tools for android smartphones (I've got back my phone with ~60% battery).
Also, before I went to the repair shop, I tried a method I found on xda, unfortunately I could not find the link right now, where I had to format a micro sd card and kind of "flash" (it's not actually flashing) a file to the SD card, put it inside the phone and just boot into Download mode (I'm not sure if it affected somehow the state of my phone)
