I out of curiosity tried this app on my note 5 and it worked but I thought it requires root or was I mistaken?
Isn't that an xposed module? Meaning, not only does it require root... It also requires Xposed framework.

So you installed the app and it worked on your note5?

I use my headphones everyday on my note5. Since installing the module I haven't had the volume warning in over 2 weeks. I used the module on my rooted note 3 with Xposed Framework. Just out of curiosity I tried it on my note 5. Does it work, idk. Im only saying that I haven't had the warnings in weeks. My original post was in the form of a question.

Have you rebooted your phone since cause I thought that warning only comes up after restarting your phone.

Can someone please mod the NFC.apk for the NOTE II US Sprint to allow screen off NFC to function?
Its working on the S3 and so much more convenient. I found a mod for the Note II but it does not work screen off only at the lock screen.
the NFC.apk is attached.
I'm just getting started with NFC tags, and i agree that this would be REALLY useful. Anyone have the know-how to make this happen?
it is so insanely inconvenient to have to turn the stinking phone on to use tags that I am at the point where if I found instructions I might try and make a go of making the changes myself
This would be nice to have. Hopefully someone can help.

Jelly Bomb has this built in. I tried pulling the Nfc.apk from the 10.20 build and putting it on my own deodexed LJC rom but it didn't allow nfc with the screen off.
Bump!
I need this for cm10 in my note 2. Anyone?

Download xposedintaller.apk from this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 and install. Launch the Xposed Installer and click on "Install/Update". Reboot.
Then go to this website http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/forums/xposed_framework_mods/ and download nfc lockscreen off enabler. Rename .zip to .apk and install. When you get a notification about enabling the modification (after the APK is installed), tap that notification, and enable the plugin by ticking the box. Reboot and enjoy!
Check out the other mods from the villain site and I highly recommend downloading xposed app settings. Enables you to change dpi of any single app + tablet mode! Just remember to change .zip to .apk and install it.

Thanks! This worked to allow nfc on lock screen but not while screen is off. Still a big help though.
As for per app dpi mod, I'm actually running paranoid android, but thanks!
Edit: never mind, got it working while screen is off completely! Thank you so so much!

Will this work with stock rom? I tried installing the xposed framework, nfc module, reboot, but doesn't read NFC will locked or completely off.
negative. exposed nfc module does NOT work on the Sprint Note II
Isn't nfc being disabled while screen off a security feature?

True, but when rooted, you still have control of what apps you install. This mod would expose you to random strangers trying to steal your data.
Rooting is like looking a hole in your firewall and putting a gate up. This is like telling the firewall altogether.
But hey to each their own
swyped all these spelling errors from my galaxy note 2
the only relevant security for NFC is that you have to be within 1 INCH (maybe 1.5" if you REALLY line it up right)
if your close enough to be a threat to my security with NFC your also close enough for me to be a very relevant and serious threat to your physical safety as I "investigate" why your lining a phone up within 1 inch of my phone in my pocket.
SO security? non issue. period.
and anyway in the future it should not be hard for dev's to enable whitelisting so only "certain things" can be done without user interaction.
this was an issue with cards before the feature even came to the phones... you never had to turn on your nfc debit card, why don't THEY have security issues?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
because THE RANGE IS ONE INCH
if your close enough to scan it that by definition means you have physical possession of it which means security is irrelevant.
this is not like bluetooth that you can pump up the power and fine tune a receiver and do it from 30ft away. or even 10ft.
1 inch. less distance than the length of your pinky finger.
again if they are that close there are OTHER issues at play folks hehehe

Yes it does work. I have used it on stock lk8 for my sprint note 2 and am now running it on macksrom working as well lockscreen and screen off. The guy who made the module updated it like 3 days ago for the new 2.0 xposed installer.

It's working perfectly for me on paranoid android. I have the option to easily make it work with screen off, it screen on but still locked, or turn off the mod completely.

ohhhh will try that right now I tried the rc2 verison. not the new 2.0 version. BRB
that is a negative. on LJC the NFC module (the new 1.1 version) does NOT work.
ALTHOUGH it does now work from lock screen (both settings) but NEITHER setting works "screen off"

Yes and yes. Also what he said. Reading is key and this is a touchy phone so if u do boo boo with out reading u will be getting a refurbished one
TWEAKED 2.0 ELEMENT V3.0 NOTE 3
The key here, is Root de la Vega, and unlocked bootloader/improved Wanam. You can use all the root apps that don't have to be flashed, no open Recovery, and there are scripts available,as well as common sense, what is safe/you don't want, to freeze with Titanium, fix UI safely with WANAM, and themes galore with different launchers(I prefer Apex, and you have a minimum 24 hour mid/heavy use battery, that looks and acts like YOU want.....til you change your mind)
... Is Xposed framework working okay on the note 4 now? I know it was giving some people some slowdowns and general bugginess.
Works good for me. I uninstalled S health for the time being. That fixed all my lag issues. I don't use it anyway. ?
Works fine here

Thats all youve ever had to do from day 1 with xposed. Kicks the lag and has s health working.
After doing the lag fix mentioned above, I have had no issues. I have used lots of changes without issue.
Any hotspot zips?
I have it working fine, and have since the day after launch when I rooted. But that's because read what do and didn't just install exposed and than complain about lag. My question is, I hear that xposed doesn't work with ART, so what happens when we get lollipop?
Works fine for me. I did the shealth fix before installing xposed so never encountered lag.

Trying this out now. Been getting a lot of 3-4 second hangups lately.
I've previous frozen S Health/S Services with other devices, but decided to keep them this time.
Here
Installed and working fine here
Works fine for me. I use sHealth so I installed the XSecureStorage module and all is well.
FYI, there is a secure storage disabler in winam xposed now.

On my M8 it used to be that anything that modified /system broke Android Pay. Until recently it was assumed that would still be the case, but I and many others have seen that AP still works with systemless root and custom roms (LeeDroid in my case). I'm considering some other modifications (Xposed, etc.), but I wanted to find out if there's any risk of breaking AP. Has anyone actually managed to do anything that causes AP to stop working?

No not at the moment. But on previous devices, root alone was enough.
Also just used two different cards on my phone, this is great, I can leave the house for a pint and leave my wallet at home. Great stuff.

Anything that modifies the framework will affect Android pay. Some have said they got it working with root cloak module (add Google framework and Google services) but I couldn't get it to work.

Root cloak doesn't mask SafetyNet checks, so it couldn't work.
What other mods are known to break it? I know AdAway without the "systemless" mod will.

Yeah i figured out that it was not coz of the root itself but the xposed module that i had installed that caused the issue..

Use an version older of snapchat, may be that works
Best solution is to use RootCloak, an xposed module that hides from Snapchat the fact that your device is rooted. If you logout from Snapchat when xposed is installed it detects xposed and doesn't log back in. Use RootCloak to hide xposed as well as root from Snapchat. Works like a charm.
Unlocked bootloader, rooted phone, and Snapchat works just fine for me.
Install Beta versiĆ³n of snapchat
Use Casper for Snapchat... The alternative version that's lightweight and works fine or even better than the regular.
Root Using Magisk ... It Will Be a Way Better To Pass Safety Net And Allow You To Use Every App Flowlessly Without Being Detected
