For those of you who want to get ahead with Android operating system on your Galaxy Note 3, you need to check out the latest Resurrection Remix ROM with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Based on latest Android 6.0.1, Resurrection Remix ROM brings you the best of CM13 and customization. In fact, this is the BEST Android Marshmallow custom ROM I have tried so far.
Out of the box, you will get all of the latest Android Marshmallow features along with CM13 features like AudioFX, CM themes (compatible with all CM13 themes), and more.
If you have been following Resurrection Remix ROM with previous Lollipop versions, you will know the high number of customization you get with it. Inside Settings->Configurations, you will be able to fully customize your status bar, buttons, recents, notification drawer, lockscreen, and more. For navigation, you will be able to add stuff like App Circle Bar, Gestures, and PIE controls.
For your quick toggles/tiles, Resurrection Remix features two columns of tiles that you can edit easily using the “Edit Tiles” button. Of course, don’t forget that with Android 6.0 you can turn your microSD card into internal storage, which works flawless on this ROM. I was able to turn my 32GB Note 3 into 96GB Note 3 easily by adding a 64GB microSD card.
Lastly but not least, the ROM features root enabled out of the box along with Kernel Auditor that allows you to overclock your phone easily to 3Ghz. (But I actually recommend not overclocking as the ROM is fast as it is.)
Hey, there’s more features and pretty much everything works out of the box so what are you waiting for? Flash it and do enjoy Marshmallow today!

Has anyone tried this room out yet? would like some feedback on it been wanting to try something new

Please come to the tmobile SAMSUNG GALAXY Note 4
Sent from my SM-N910T on the AT&T network, running Maximum OvrDriVE v5.4 w/emo r23 ZEROLEMON mods and my 10,000 mah batyery.

I've been running this ROM for about 5 days
And I haven't had any problems with it yet.
Battery is decent and I like the customizations
On another note what open gapps is recommended, I have not been able to use open gapps. I once tried the aroma version and it caused bootloop.
So I am using slim gapps 6.0

I think that there needs to be some clarification on some things, to be fair.
The issues that some seem to be facing are not things that everyone is experiencing.
The need to format some SD cards is existent, this comes with the new setup step that asks about internal or portable storage usage for SD cards
As far as the data issue, it is a common bug that all versions of cm13 are experiencing. It has happened to me on Temasek version of cm13, as well as one of the first builds of RRemix. For example, if you are connected to WiFi there is a chance when disabling WiFi that data network isn't active. Obviously people noticed when no network icon was assigned to signal meter. This is a small issue that can be resolved by toggling airplane mode, or by enabling cellular network during active WiFi connection in development options.
Audio fx isn't 100% operational, and I have a better experience using viper4android.
Some are also reporting other issues that are being posted and reported on the original threads.
Overall I am using this as my daily driver. And I have not had any issues that would cause me to use any other ROM.

For what it's worth, the stock version has the same data bug for me in my area. I had to toggle airplane mode every time I came out of a WiFi mode. Luckily due to near 50 mbps speeds here, I'm only in WiFi mode when I need to use Chromecast. I have other devices that stay on WiFi for that though.
Just figured I'd chime in.

Amazing ROM. Hadn't had any problems except for the camera when switching to recording mode. This can easily be fixed by downloading a third party camera app.
Is there any way to add Android pay support to this rom?

I've been using this about a week now, seems really solid.
I only use this on Wi-Fi so I haven't experienced any data issues yet.
Google Camera crashes when attempting to record video, other apps work fine.
During a Skype call I cannot be heard.
SPen works great for me. I downloaded CM SPen Add-on from the appstore to get detection working. Also picked up Note Buddy for additional SPen/launch options.
Otherwise, working great, love the rom and the customization options, keep up the great work!

[APP][ROOT][BETA] ButtonLED

New thread with updated ButtonLED.
Everything below this point is outdated.
Hey guys,
I've been fiddling around Tasker for the last few weeks and finally decided to create a fully functional app using it.
At this point, some of you will be thinking "Another useless, ugly, cluttered Tasker created app that does something nobody needs".
Well, then, I'll try to prove you wrong
Note: You do not need Tasker to use the app.
App Description:
ButtonLED is similar to NoLED: it allows you to have LED like notifications without actually having the LED light. However, NoLED uses uses your screen; ButtonLED only uses the hardware buttons' backlight (your screen stays off). It's customizable to an extent, with more to come depending on feedback and suggestions.
Features:
Pause for some user defined time on proximity (e.g. if phone is turned down, or is in your pocket);
Turn button backlight for X seconds, then off for Y seconds;
Should work on all devices since the user can locate the brightness file;
Notification exceptions (e.g. to ignore all notification that contain "Hello", add *Hello* to the exception list)
Logs
Compatibility:
It should work on all rooted devices. It will work out of the box (once you open it) for Samsung Galaxy Ace i devices (Galaxy Ace users will probably need to locate the brightness file), which is why I'm choosing to offer it for testing here. I'll release it in the Android Apps and Games section if the reviews are favorable. If not, I'll take their content into consideration and improve it before release it there.
Running the app:
Install, open, enable in accessibility. Done. You may need to select a different brightness file.
You may also want to customize the options.
On the Galaxy Ace i, the brightness file is located at:
/sys/devices/platform/bcm21553-leds/leds/button-backlight/brightness

Changelog:
V1.1 (24/10/12):
Missed call/Unread text notifications support. (can someone confirm ButtonLED v1.0 doesn't detect them? I'm almost certain it won't do anything for missed called/unread texts, but I'd rather be certain about it)
Optional permanent notification.
Option to use flashlight instead of the hard buttons' LED light.
Test button that will turn on and off the LED/flashlight.
Other minor modifications and fixes.

Added in v1.1, will release it later.
Would you like to use both (button + flashlight) or just one at the same time? In v1.1, you can only use one at a time, but I could change that.

I'm not sure. It might be because it's not compatible with JB. Didn't think this would be an issue first, since our devices only support GB. Forgot about the regular Ace's custom ROMs.
I'll release a JB apk later, and hope it works.

Should be fixed in v1.1. Actually, it shouldn't be happening in v1.0 since I've already included a quick check that resets the brightness to 0, but I altered a few things in v1.1 that should make it fail proof.
@Qeemi/Toscanitex Thank you guys
Changelog of the upcoming v1.1 version:
Missed call/Unread text notifications support. (can someone confirm ButtonLED v1.0 doesn't detect them? I'm almost certain it won't do anything for missed called/unread texts, but I'd rather be certain about it)

I'll upload it as soon as I can, probably in the next 24 hours.
Keep the comments coming!
Also, if you think it's read to be released in the general Android Apps and Games section, please say so.
I'll get much more reviews, bug reports and suggestions there which will allow faster development if time allows it, but I don't want to release something unfinished there.
Good luck!

About the camera LED, just to make sure:
Open ButtonLED;
Select "Use flashlight ...";
Press the "✓" button;
Select "Test ButtonLED". Your flashlight should turn on and off.
If it doesn't work, and if you have Tasker (or if you can install the trial version), can you try creating a simple task that will turn the "Torch" on then off? Just to make sure that Tasker feature is compatible with your phone (the documentation says it's not compatible with all phones).
Regarding the battery, I don't see why that would happen, unless you left your phone with ButtonLED active for those five hours (when I say active, I mean turning your LED on and off), especially that nothing, battery wise, has changed from v1.0 to v1.1.
Did you flash a new ROM lately? If so, try recalibrating your battery.
For the logs, what exactly do you mean when you say they don't work?
Are they inaccurate? In that case, I fixed it in v1.2. It was a slight issue causing skipped notifications to be displayed as "processed" in the logs (e.g. if your screen is on, ButtonLED will skip a notification; v1.1 will mark it as processed in the logs, tho).
If it's something else (e.g. logs not showing up, some other issue), please specify.
Thanks for the reports
Ok..thank you so much ..

I just remembered that pushing the app using adb should give you more information about why the installation failed, so please try that.
Hi, I found this app on Tasker groups (thanks to the author)
However on my device (galaxy s2 with cyanogen10) I have no /sys/devices/platform/*-leds/leds/ and on tasker Set Light says it's not available on my device...
It's a ROM problem I suppose, because keys backlight are present (as hardware) and supported by the ROM (they turn on and there is an option to use or not use them!). Should I ask to cyanogen developers?
again thanks

Yeah, it's probably hidden somewhere else.
Did some googling and found that for the One X (running CM10), it's /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/button-backlight/currents
Other users say that /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness works instead.
So you could also try looking for something similar.
Make sure to report back once you find it

It wasn't too long ago I helped port Sky Note 4.3 from the AT&T Note 2 over to the Verizon Note 2 before I jumped to the Note 3. Quite a bit of work went into that and it was very exhausting to say the least. But very rewarding too.

Oh absolutely. It's crazy insane how long it takes sometimes trying to do something basic like say make sure the battery meter change sticks.
On that note I'm assuming looking over the ROM notes I should be doing the "fix permissions" before the first boot of the ROM, right?

I know the thing for me was it took me 2 days to figure out why it wont boot. I probable built and started from scratch 10 times just in 2 days. And I've Odined 5 times (me being stupid) you dont need to fix permissions anymore. I fixed it, but you can if you want But she is stable and fast, running it over the stock right now

So I'm assuming has this ROM been tested on devices that have been upgraded to MJ7? Also thanks for the heads up on permissions. It's actually in the main post mentioning for people to do that but I wanted to clarify at what point one should do that.

By the way for good laughs here... I should of looked closely at the main post as you specifically mention MJ7 was used as the base for building this ROM. I must be more tired and near falling asleep then I thought. :silly:

Why not install an app? Its free and its not like you had to pay for the rom. The Dev chose his way to dispense. Use it.

Because I use a very minimal setup. Allows for a quick and easy install, clean flash. Every time, every rom. I don't need the mega garbage. I've tested countless roms and give my best to do honest and helpful feedback. Mega is awful. No reason why it shouldn't download thru the desktop, but refuses thru multiple browsers so you will install the app. I don't need their garbage on my phone. I was looking forward to running this the next few days, but I will not install the mega app. It is junk. Go ahead if you want. I'm not the only one who hates mega. Go call out some noob, leave me out of your comments.

AOKP for the Nextbit Robin

I just stumbled upon AOKP's website to see that they have a build for the robin. I flashed it with gapps and used magisk for root, i can confirm that it works. I am surprised to see that this is nowhere to be found on the xda forums (even though there is a thread for aokp its for marshmallow, and the nougat links that are for download on the build page are quite outdated), as far as i can tell everything is working (wifi, lte, bluetooth, nfc, camera)
Go to that link and press nextbit, and it will take you to the ether download page
Here is a screenshot of the settings page
http://aokp.co/devices/
I already flashed the rom a few weeks ago and it was quite laggy especially in the settings menu. You could easily see the lags by closing windows in the menu. Are these lags gone now?
And how about the typical LOS bugs like notification light and static screen, could you notice them in the aokp rom?

static screen is still indeed there, the notification light seems fine but i have only had it for about 3 hours now so it may act up later, to be frank this rom is exactly like aicp but with everything working. To me it seems smooth but ill run some benchmarks to test it out. But to answer your question i dont notice any huge lags in the settings, its just as snappy as it is on lineage or pa
The geekbench score is a bit low for single core at only 774, multi core is on par at 2213
Just flashed the rom and the lag in settings menu is still there. You should see it if you switch from a sub menu back to main settings. The window is not vanishing instantly it's more like dragging.

oh i think i see what you are saying, i dont necessarily think thats lag, it could just be the animation, if you turn down the animation speed its faster too
Yes maybe lag is not the right description . Is there an option in aokp to change the animation speed?
Edit: Found the option and now the problem is gone. If the notification light was also working this rom would be really nice.

well thats a bummer after about 8 hours on the rom the notification light stayed on permenantly
This is the best LOS based ROM out of the ones for this device in my honest opinion.
It's got the right amount of needed features and feels really stock los (plus the features). Speedy and reliable which is just how I like it. Not to mention the feeling you get when you use a ROM that's provided by a team who's been around for many android releases. Great work if you ask me and I'm excited to see where it will go.

Ahh that means I was right xD I saw the commit that fixed it this morning on los cmx log. Aokp Builds every two days so I should've known they'd be the first to merge.

Yeah, great eye haha! Only issue in this ROM is that the brightness slider is a bit jumpy when sliding up/down (because of the icon next to the slider when adjusting it)

Yeah, did clean flash. It only happens when you slide the brightness slider, not tapping. When sliding, only a box with the slider in it appears with a icon next to it (to show if adaptive brightness is on or off), however because in the preview box the slider is a bit shorter, the slider icon acts a bit jumpy. Just nitpicking tho!
Thus rom is fast, fluid, lag free and the battery life is amazing. Take a look at the images.

No, sorry. Sometimes I frequently flash my device to give feedback to different maintainers although the last time I checked it was working (3 days tops). It's possible a new change in the latest build could have broke it. Either that, a broken proximity sensor, or a new commit from LOS broke it.
Take a sys log while giving auto brightness a few clicks with time in between each click.

This is just a simple Xposed module that disables pulling down the notification shade / quick settings tiles while on the lock screen (but doesn't break media player controls on lock screen). Only tested on Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL on Android 10 (more on this later).
Background: This has always been an annoying aspect of Android for me, and it's dumb from a security standpoint. Being able to pull down the quick settings tiles on a locked phone is dumb. Why hasn't Android natively built this in yet? Using this and Gravity Box to disable power menu on lock screen makes me feel a lot better in the event my phone ever gets lost or stolen. It's dumb that anyone can steal your phone and immediately toggle your settings (turn off WiFi, Mobile Data, toggle Airplane Mode, etc) and/or turn the phone off... I've been spoiled for years by the OG HTC devs (particularly LeeDroid and Team Venom) and their ROMs with these features baked in, so it's back to using Xposed to fill that gap for me and my wife, lol. Anyway, I pair these mods along with the Lockwatch app from Play Store and it gives me more peace of mind. Hey, anything to increase the chances of recovering a lost or stolen phone, am I right?
Credits / Technical Details: This module is based off of char101's published Xposed Repo module, and all credits and thanks should go to him. This is the first app / APK I've compiled so it was a nice learning experience, but it was all based off of his source and I really just needed to remove a few lines of code to get it to work properly with our phones. His mod worked fine and disabled the quick settings pull down on the lock screen, as intended. The problem was that it would also prevent media player controls from functioning (and I would assume other possible functions as well). To fix this, I just removed DISABLE2_NOTIFICATION_SHADE references from the code, leaving DISABLE2_NONE and DISABLE2_QUICK_SETTINGS untouched. The mod still works perfectly as intended. Only tested on Pixel 4 / 4 XL on Android 10. I'm sure it would work on other devices as well.
I really just did this on a whim for me and my wife's own phones and wasn't planning on sharing it, but I figure other people may have also wanted this for their P4's as well, so enjoy. Again, all thanks go to @char101!
Installation:
- Download .APK file attached to this post.
* If you have char101's original module installed already, I would highly recommend uninstalling it first.
- It's an Xposed module. Install the APK and enable in your Xposed Manager.
- Reboot and test.

Just noticed something that worried me at first, but turned out to be nothing of concern afaik, but in case anyone else gets spooked by it: I just noticed last night that if you launch the camera while on the lock screen, you can still pull down the notification shade. Same can be said for other apps that can be active over lock screen (e.g. Phone app during active call).
However, the quick settings are still inaccessible while locked. The notification contents that do show will follow the same rules as your settings, so if you have it set to hide sensitive notification content (which you probably should... otherwise 2-factor authentication is extremely pointless if your device were lost or stolen), you still won't be able to see the notification content itself, just that there is a pending notification for that particular app.
I hope you're finding the mod useful, for anyone who is using it. Please let me know if you find any issues with the module, thanks. I'm by no means a developer, but I have more free time than usual for obvious global reasons and it's a fun learning experience while the free time lasts. =)
I've been using the original NoQSInLockScreen, and while it did the job, it really bothered me that you couldn't use media controls on the lock screen (or expand notifications).
This mod took care of that problem. Really happy with it!
Just wanted to say thank you for putting it up!
Tested it on Android 9 (LineageOS 16.0).
Just wanted to stop in and say thank you for the awesome edxposed mod! I appreciate the extra security and hope you're doing well!

Just wanted to let you know, as a fellow (now former) user of this mod, that I found a better way of doing this! So just thought I'd share:
Using GravityBox app for EdXposed framework you can simply define which individual QS tiles you want to secure. That way you still have access to the QuickSettings pulldown menu from the lockscreen (unlike this mod which disables it altogether), but things like Wi-Fi, Location, Airplane Mode etc. are secure and not accessible until you've unlocked your phone. It's a much more practical and elegant solution in my opinion.
Check out my post on this from Reddit where I describe the steps if you're interested:

Can't wait to try, does your mod support Android 11?

I completely forgot about this mod, haha. But thanks for letting us know!
As @nanquan mentioned (a long time ago, lol), you can also achieve (essentially) the same thing by using GravityBox. It is indeed a more "elegant" solution, and since I already use GravityBox heavily, I now just use GB's tweaks to lock down the main comm tiles.
But I'm glad this still works, for those who still prefer to use it for whatever reason. I can see it still being useful if you have a lot of custom QS tiles and want to keep it all locked down.
Confirmed working A11 xtended rom, 1+7t

As well as enabling the module you need to tick the checkbox for 'system framework' and 'system ui'.
