Will I be able to flash 4.4.2 international roms on my phone, I can flash the 4.3 with no problem, but I'm not sure if the 4.4.2 will work on my phone. I would like to try this one out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472301
Thanks, any comment is appreciated.
From what I've read recently we need a kernel before our phones will run 4.4.2. I can always be wrong since things change daily

Do not flash anything with a bootloader! You will be stuck.
I wouldn't try any of the 4.4.2 TW builds from any other device at this time. Wait for someone to Port and have a good working kernel for our phones.
It's so difficult to see kitkat roms for many other devices and nothing for us. We have to wait till there is an official or leak of T-Mobile version of kitkat to have anything started. Just hold back guys. This is not going to be late...

Yeah, its really annoying that that even AT&T has a leaked version and we still cant use that. There arent even any devs working on a kernel, seems like everyone is just waiting for samsung.
I had recently obtained a s3 its a T-mobile, its running 4.1.2, with the T999UVDMD5 baseband. I rooted it, flashed xposed(haha the only thing XD). Well, reading about/friends have said there was trouble with the 4.3 update so I decided to stay on 4.1.2.
However, now I've decided to flash a custom rom, and I have noticed the different labels(D2lte, D2tmo, D2usa) and I had read from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736477 "As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants" .
I have a few questions:
1.There was a baseband update, should I update it? If so, how exactly?
2.Would it be wise to flash a D2lte on This T-mobile device? I was looking at Resurrectionhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692481(originally waiting on cm11 but.. Yeah lol)
3.Looking at KitKat rooms, which ones could I flash?
4.Would it be safe, if I did flash a 4.4.2 to restore a nandroid backup of my fresh rooted stock 4.1.2.
5.Lastly, what kernel would you say use?(Sorry to ask, curiosity as to which i could flash)
I appreciate taking your time to answer my questions and have a good day!
1) custom recovery.. There are zips available to flash
2) d2lte covers all d2 devices so its safe
3)Any on the development threads
4) Yes
5) like on 3, you can flash any kernel in the development threads, experiment and see which one works the best for you!

To answer your questions:
1. You do not need to update your firmware - I'm still on MD5. Modems, however, can be flashed separately from firmware.
2. You can flash d2lte ROMs on this phone as it's all one unified build for US SGS3 variants. (I.e. T-Mobile/AT&T/Sprint/Verizon SGS3 is now all built under d2lte).
3. As far as which KK ROM to flash...just try them all out and see which ones you like the best. Each ROM has different features - see which one is right for you.
4. If you don't update your firmware, then yes. (FYI, flashing a custom KK ROM does not update your firmware. However, if you flash one of the 4.3 root66 files that has firmware included, then it will update your firmware).
5. Again, try it out. It's hard to say which ROM/kernel combination will work best. I suggest you read the forums to see what people think of them.
Hope that helps.

No problem, and i forgot to say but the only time you might need to update modem is if you flash a 4.3 touchwiz ROM, other than that its not really needed unless you want to experiment and see if one gives you better results

Oh, and one more thing: DO NOT flash a ROM that is for the international version of the SGS3 (i9300). It will, most definitely, brick your phone.
Don't know if you knew that or not...just wanted to make sure.
Hey! I've been spending hours reverting my rom to stock and doing my OTAs to get to lollipop.
My phone is a Bell M8 with S-ON. I am currently up to 4.4.4 and about to do the Lollipop update. I am aware I should do sunshine on 4.4.3 but am broke right now so was just thinking of waiting until it works on Lollipop.
That being said, the current Bell OTA for Lollipop is version 4.20.666.1 (awesome numbers btw) and most roms say I need firmware 4.16.x.x.
My question is, will those roms work properly on this firmware? Or should I go back to 4.4.3 and use sunshine (I am impatient and want lollipop now, but stock roms suck.)
Thanks for the help!
edit: I found this advice in a rom thread
In future Rom releases, you may stick with your region’s firmware as long as that firmware is from the current released base, such as 5.0.1, 5.0.2, etc.
Firmware flashing is not required for every Rom update. Most of the time it is best to remain on your phone’s native firmware for best signal reception, battery life, and overall performance.

So does that mean as long as the rom is the same version 5.0.x that I should be fine?
Ya you should be fine tuning that firmware with the Rom... Can I ask you to also please upload the ota for us ...I've been looking for it all around

Where do I find it I haven't update yet.. I'd you can tell me where it is located I can extract and upload it.
I have a TWRP backup of it. Would that work or probably not since the firmware isn't there.

Welcome to the VZN M7 Forums! I have successfully used sunshine to unlock my BL on Android 4.4.3. I did a lot of research on which recovery I wanted to use. I had in the past on my Motorola RAZR and Droid4. I tried CWM 1st. Then found out that I had a possibility of loosing root. Out with CWM and in with TWRP. I made backups of my stock rooted phone. Then I installed a deodexed (debloated) KitKat ROM. I got a noticeable performance response. Less lag. I then looked into kernels. I chose ElementalX for the sheer power control it gives me. But, the ROM I was using wasn't supporting the changes I was making. Solution? I decided to do a full format and fresh install for ViperROM and ElementalX kernel. Also, just bought the EX kernel app.
Current setup:
Current TWRP Recovery
EX Kernel 18.0
ViperROM 7.0.2
Woo that ex kernel looks nice. Do you know a ruu I could use to update my firmware to use those an possibly a link to the current twrp? I can't wait to use dt2w.

I only recommend going to either 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 since a lot of the M7 owners who have updated to Lollipop are experiencing issues of some sort.
TWRP 2.8.6.0.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2416431

I also advise purchasing the EX Kernel App manager if you really like the Kernel features. This way you dont have to reboot everytime you want to change a parameter
Edit: looking for 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 RUU
Edit2: RUU found by another member
Use this to upgrade your firmware to latest version after that you can flash any rom you want

Yes i mean trickster mod. Actually i have a very little knowledge about kernels so it would be better for you to ask someone else and as for the RUU , I would recommend the lollipop RUU because it has the latest firmware otherwise you can use that 4.4.3. You can even flash the firmware only zip the first link in my previous post.
Uh well i installed the 4.4.3 ruu and flashed twrp then tried to install the ex kernel but it boot loops am i doing something wrong?

Yes for using that ex kernel you have to update to lollipop version it wont work on 4.4.3 its in the description of that kernel. If you want to use 4.4.3 only try to use some other kernel.
Is there a way to downgrade to 4.4.2? So i can use this?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600691 looking for a kernel that has dt2w or did i update and screw everything up? Wasnt really wanting to update to lolipop i heard it was buggy. Or could i use this?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2768254 it says gsm. Would it work with my verizon m7?

There you go use this to downgrade your firmware this will work just fine :good:

And for that kernel you should ask in that forum only or you can pm the admin of that thread

Yup i'm on 6.22.605.3 i used the official ota to update just downloaded the two zip files and flashed them in stock recovery. I'm noticing significant lag and hanging problem since i updated to lollipop. I'm also thinking to downgrade to 4.4.3 using the S-ON RUU i like to use pure stock but i have s-off and bootloader unlocked so that i can downgrade anytime. Remeber one thing never S-On your device a number of people did that and now they have bricked phone. Good luck happy flashing :good:
Thanks for the info. Gana try downgrading after I drink a gallon of coffee.
Hmm i got it to 4.4.2 but i cant get the elemental x kernel to install it just boot loops

i'm not getting your point , which revovery did you use to flash that kernel and which kernel did you use ?
Post that link in your reply.
I used the most recent version of twrp i think its 2.8.6.0 and i tried flashing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600691 oh it seems the version of sense the kernel requires is 5.5 and mine is 6.0 is that the problem?

Try to erase cahce and then reboot again if that doesn't work then either problem is with the sense version or somthing else.
Looks like i need to flash a insecure kernel first then flash ex kernel. Also you know where to get the most recent version of ex kernel for kk?
Edit: is this it? http://elementalx.org/devices/htc-one-m7/

You can't flash the GSM version of ElementalX on a Verizon m7.
You can look for latest ported version in Verizon m7 original development section.
I forget what the last version posted was, as I port and modify my own...but I'm pretty sure Kitkat is there.
I accidentally forgot to make a backup before flashing a new ROM and now I'm stuck with no ROM! Please help if you can. Here's my phone's info:
HTC One M9 (Telus Canadian phone) Unlocked with S-ON.
Rooted with SuperSU and TWRP v2.8.7.0.
Currently, I only have access to fastboot and TWRP. I tried flashing Revolution HD and Viper and both of them install just fine, but right after installation, my phone boots to the bootloader and will not boot to the system no mater what I do. I tried going back to full-stock but I think I need S-Off for that which I have no clue how to do with no ROM. Plus fastboot won't even show me what my CID/MID numbers are to download the right stuff for my phone if I wanna go back to stock.
I just need a ROM to work. I don't care which one. What are my options? Is there a way unbrick my phone?
Thanks in advance!

Marshmallow Firmware is what you would need to run latest rom. You could pay $25 and use sunshine to make yourself s-off and flash the latest marshmallow Firmware.

But what's a near-stock Lollipop ROM you'd recommend? Because I just installed Candy5 and Sunshine didn't like it for being too far from stock.

For the original look you get when you buy it,I'd go with leedroid rom. For AOSP I'd go with slimroms or candy.
FYI, you can install a Marshmallow rom with firmware 2.1x when AOSP only. I tried a Cyanogenmod and was working perfectly with actual nightlies.
But for Sense rom, you will have to install firmware 3.x
Thank you guys for your help! @BR7fan you're a real life saver! Just a quick update:
I managed to get S-Off and now I guess I have to wait until firmware 3.x is released for Canadian phones as I could not get it on the HTC website as of yet. @gortys I ran Cyanogenmod all day today and got annoyed with the WiFi drops. It happens so frequently and as I understand, there's no stable build for the M9 yet. So I'm taking @BR7fan's advice and going with LeeDroid for now. Thanks for pointing out that I can get Marshmallow ROM's with my old firmware.

It's true that wifi isn't as responsive as with a Sense rom. I am actually running Android Revolution HD (Lollipop 5.1) with Elementalx kernel and I'd say that Sense rom are quite always more optimized. Waiting for official OTA to firmware 3.x to flash their marshmallow version of the rom.
Patience for all!!

Looks like the old Lollipop based LeeDroid has been taken down. I have a backup of it on my phone though. I'm uploading it to Google Drive right now but it's a 2 GB file so it won't be ready till tomorrow. I hope you find something else in the meantime, but if you didn't, check your inbox tomorrow, I'll share the link with you so you can download it.
