So I tried to flash the Venom rom 1.2 version from stock rooted S-On and after flashing I am now stuck at the splash screen and cannot access the bootloader, any suggestions?
EDIT: I have figured out the problem and solved it, mods please close this thread

Well if those didn't solve your problem what I did was let my M8 run out of battery and then plugged it into my computer holding power+volume down and that allowed me to get into the bootloader and then into fastboot. I then erased the cache and entered recovery where I had a backup ready.
I'm experiencing the same problem, and still working on solving it. But for those who are stuck in the boot screen and need to shut off their phone so that they can boot up into recovery (power + vol down), hold down BOTH volume buttons and the power button and the phone will shut off in a few seconds. I couldn't find this anywhere and was getting annoyed waiting for the juice to run out so I tried a few things and this worked.
edit: turns out it's just volume UP and power to 'battery pull' the phone, not both, although that will work because you're pushing on up

You can also try this if you're not willing to wait for the battery to drain. I also ran into that very same problem, being stuck on the htc splash screen.. However this is how I fixed it. Like one of the posters above i too held the volume button up while at the same time holding down the power button. My HTC One M8 would just reboot back to the splash screen. So, i went through all of the steps above again but this time as the screen went off still holding the power button down. I immediately slid my finger from volume up to down. I continued holding it in the volume down position until the boot loader come up. I selected recovery from there and did a cache wipe and restored a NAND backup. I hope this helps someone.
Found a pretty easy fix
It's a somewhat common problem as I can tell,w hen the device stops on the splash screen (where it says "POWERED by Android") ,, and it has a pretty easy fix, which does not require drain the battery or erase the cache from ADB and so on ! What you do is, you hold down Volume UP + Power Button and keep it pressed till the device will re-restart itself and will boot in to the system (unless you completely f-ed up your system).
Good luck
I have found a way

Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Power button until you see a black screen. As soon as you see it press the Volume Down key and the Power button at the same time. This should get you to your bootloader.

thanks a lot. that did the trick.
I am in a bit of a predicament. When I tried power-off my phone from the TWRP reset menu TWRP froze up. I could click any of the buttons on screen (the clicking/tapping animation did go off) but got no repsonse. When I tried to do a forced power-off by holding the power button, the only thing that happened was the screen locked. Now I am stuck on the lock screen because for some reason the phone won't unlock when I slide to unlock it. Am I screwed and will have to wait until the battery goes dead to be able to get back to the bootloader? I tried to flash TWRP 2.8.6.0 inside TWRP but it flashed to the boot partition instead. I have a backup but I need to first be able to flash the new recovery to restore it.
Press vol up+vol down + power button for 15 sec or more
When screen goes black
Press voldown + power to enter bootloader
Thanks for the quick response. Sadly I ended up calling it a night soon after posting so I ended up letting the battery die.
My phone kept getting "com.android.phone has stopped unexpectly, so i went into recovery and wiped cache and also fixed permissions and tried to reboot. Phone went to bootloop, never powers on. I try to hold power button and vol up and the phone vibrates and takes me to htc screen and then goes back to boot loop. I do not know how to get into recovery, please help?? Lollipop HTC One M8
Try holding power + volume down when the phone powers on, that should bring you into bootloader
Hello, I was attempting to install CM 12.1 on my M8 and while trying to change the kernel to SkyDragon it started to go into a bootloop. While not really thinking i wiped everything (i seriously mean everything) with TWRP. So i rebooted my phone and now its been on the White HTC logo screen with the build warning at the bottom. I attempted to shutdown the phone and go back into TWRP but no luck. Any help? Thanks! :good:
Hold power + vol up to force a reboot (could take up to 20 seconds). AS SOON AS THE SCREEN GOES BLACK slide from vol up to vol down. This will take you to your bootloader, where you can enter recovery (choose hboot, the option is in there) and restore a backup.
I'm running TWRP as a recovery.
Was running cm-13.0-20160210-NIGHTLY-m8, and updated using the OTA updater to cm-13.0-20160212-NIGHTLY-m8.zip. I have used this function before and had no issues.
Now all my phone wants to do is load the htc logo stating it's booting into recovery, then the screen goes black and illuminates every couple of seconds to a lighter shade of black. That's it.
Is there any way to force it into bootloader, so I can reflash the recovery?
I've tried holding power nothing happens.
I've tried holding power+volume up and it tries to boot into recovery and fails.
I've tried holding power+volume down and nothing happens.
I've tried holding power+volume up+volume down and it tries to boot into recovery and fails.
I've tried holding power+volume up, and changing to volume down just before it tries to reboot and it tries to boot into recovery and fails.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Fixed
My timing was off from holding all 3 buttons and switching at the right moment. What had happened was cyanogenmod had tried to update (and failed) it's own recovery. Do yourself a favor and disable it in dev settings, and use your regular recovery. Thanks.
