So I have the international Version of the HTC ONE X on the AT&T Network. For some reason when I go to send messages sometimes it works and then other times it just says "unable to send message". I do notice the signal going to 3G then it says H and then Edge. I'm pretty new to the android ordeal so not sure of what to expect. Can anyone help me out? I also rooted the phone and used a few roms but it didn't help. I am back on the stock rom which I made a backup of. Any ideas? Anyone else having problems with sms and mms on AT&T with the HTC ONE X.

Apn issue I think. You probably didn't add the apn needed for mms.
Google att apn mms
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Hey!!! I did put the ATT APN. Looked at a few Youtube videos also just to make sure I am on the right path and they all seem to use the same ATT apn. I restarted phone a few times and put airplane mode to shut off the signal then turn it on just to try like a reset that way and nothing. Sometimes it works and messages go through and sometimes it doesn't work. Makes me loco lol thanks for writing.
does at&t have this enabled on their end? for some it was a matter of going to at&t and having it straightened out.
I did call ATT and they asked for the IMEI of the phone. I gave it to them and they told me everything was "provisioned" and should work well. I did use APN settings. I restarted the phone thinking maybe that could be an issue but it did not work. Any other ideas?
you could try downloading another app like handcent, which gives you a little more control over settings (including much larger mms size) than the resident app and try to use that as a way of double checking the problem. i'm on at&t prepaid with an int'l one x and don't text much. but when i got on the network, i sent a couple of texts and mms just to see if the service was working well. seemed to be fine for me.
btw, is your micro-sim new from at&t or maybe transferred from an iphone? some former iphone users who transferred sims have reported problems with texting/email. i think they had to make sure their iphones were wiped first before transferring the micro-sim over.
Hello!
This morning I suddenly began getting a failed message any time I attempted to send an SMS message. There doesn't appear to be any error code or anything, just an exclamation point next to the message which triggers a new attempt if i touch it.
I assumed it was a passing network error and ignored it for awhile. During my last break at work I realized that still could not send SMS, so I powered my phone off and back on to no avail. I called AT&T tech support, thinking it may have been a provisioning or switch error, they sent me an SMS which came through fine, and I sent a few test SMS while on the line with them which also went through perfectly.
After getting off of the phone with AT&T I discovered my SMS was not working again. Messing around with it later I learned that I can send and receive SMS normally while on a call, and can send MMS messages regardless, but am unable to receive MMS unless I'm on a call. Data is working fine (both AT&T and WiFi) and I can make and receive calls normally.
When I got home from work I called AT&T again. They had no suggestions, but told me they could not help me troubleshoot while I was on the phone needing troubleshooting (which makes perfect sense, but was the only phone available at the time.)
I have since re-flashed my phone to the official factory rom and done a reset to factory settings/deleted all data by following this tutorial here: (XDA won't allow me to link the video, but youtube user appdroid seven, video title "How To Unroot & Factory Reset At&t Samsung Galaxy S III I747", I fouind the video in the thread titled "[ReF} ALL IN ONE NOOBS VIDEO* GUIDES TO ROOT | FLASH | & MORE [Mods this goes in ATT]" post four.)
I am still having the same issue, but am running out of ideas on how to fix it... any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem. I just figured out how to fix it. Worked on my friends phone too. Both S3s.
I found the below on another site.
1) With phone on, take off back cover and press your SIM card so it releases from the spring. It won't come all the way out as it's blocked by the battery. This seems fine - I didn't bother trying to force it out as I didn't want to break anything...
2) Once you see the message that the SIM card is removed, go to the dialer and dial *#2263#
3) You should see a menu with band selections. The current setting is "Automatic". If you switch to "GSM All", you will be EDGE (2G). If you switch to "WCDMA All", you will be on HSPA+ (3G, though AT&T and others call it 4G).
4) Press the SIM card back into place until it clicks. For whatever reason the phone will not recognize it until you reboot. Upon reboot you should see your new setting in effect.
I switched to WCDMA ALL... then rebooted. This put it on HSPA only. Then I did the above again and selected automatic and rebooted. LTE came back online and the SMS worked again. No problems since. Hope this helps.

I just got this problem after the AT&T update got pushed to my phone yesterday. I followed the steps above, trying to text between each switch of the radios. I found that I could text on "WCDMA All" but not "LTE All". Going to "Automatic" gave me LTE radio back, but MMS/SMS failed to work. However, text did work if I was on a phone call! This got me thinking about the APN settings and whether they were right. Sure enough, AT&T messed with "APN type" on the latest upgrade. It should read "default, mms, supl, hipri" but instead read "default, mms, supl". I created a new APN with the correct APN type, reset the radio to "Automatic" as per the instructions above, and rebooted. I now have LTE and MMS/SMS back!
I hope that this helps!
Now, how do I go about billing AT&T for my lost time?
I got this phone for my dad, as he had this old crappy phone for years and overpaid for his cell bill every month for minute plan lol i know.
So i got him this Galaxy s4-m919 model to find out that it was upgraded as part of a plan, then the person claimed it they lost it to sell it to another person, and ofc they wouldn't refund me.
So i took another path and came on here to get help, ofc it was a T-mobile phone, so I guess i'm blacklisted on t-mobile networks, but i flashed to 4.3 modem, did sim unlock, then flashed back to 4.2.2.
Put in my new Att sim card, and service has worked ever since, the lame part is now he wants to use MMS, and it keeps on failing to send/receive, when he recieve a mms from someone, it comes up as a huge ass url(you have to click it to see the picture in the browser or w.e, but never ever loads rofl, idk y.)
He doesn't use any apps, he just uses it for calling, internet at times, navigation, wants to use MMS, takes pictures/video, etc. But MMS doesn't work, I ever called the H2O to help me, and they said that i needed to change my "Message Center #" for it to work, seriously? My other phone has "+12063130004", and my dad's is "+13123149810", i think H2O rep wanted me to change it to the # my other phone has which is the first number i listed. Is this really the care? If so, how can I change it? =/
First thing to check, in my opinion, is to see if all the APN options are set correctly. Settings \ Mobile Network \ <more> APN Settings will usually get you there. The ATT APN settings can be found here but you may need to search around if H2O requires different ones. I'm on standard ATT and the settings at that link work for me, with my M919 phone.
Good luck!

Just tried ATT Phone APN settings, and my internet nor MMS work; yeah H2O has a bit different settings then att.
They're:
name: h2ointernet (doesn't do anything but eh)
APN: att.mvno
proxy: not set
port: not set
server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingurlar.com
Multimedia message proxy: 66.209.11.33
Multimedia message port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: not set
APN type: *
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Turn APN on/off: on
Mobile virtual network operator type: none
I also saw somewhere that you can hook up your phone to the computer and change the Message Center # using Root Explorer(just re-read the post on xda about this and u have to have it rooted =/), then 'SilverEdit' to edit the xml to enter the message center number?( also heard it wasn't permanent either, if u turned it off, or battery died or w.e. it would revert to the previous #, not sure tho) Not sure what to do here. The internet works fine, but H2O rep says i need to change my Message center number to a different one for mms to work. Also tried changing default msging app to hangouts and sending a mms, and it came up with " mobile plan blocks MMS." I also put his sim card into my working phone, and ofc the message center # was the same when i switched it over to my phone and ofc it won't send, says "mms not supported by network, service response error"
Anyone?
Can anyone help me with "Message Center"? My MMS doesn't work, can't send or receive(when i receive an mms, it comes as a big ass url something like "viewmymessage.com/webgui/bla bla/ bla bla/ and so on/", can't open the link on the phone.
If you have AT&T service on a t-mobile phone it needs to be unlocked. He is using it to call people, so I guess it is. You should try flashing an AT&T modem.
Before that, try making your APN type: IPv4 or IPv6. And MM message proxy:0
I'l try that, just put in my H2O settings: APN type: IPv4 or IPv6. And MM message proxy:0; Can't try atm, as for some reason his data went down to 0, even tho he wasn't even using internet for anything on his phone...which was weird. The way I unlocked this phone was flashing the 4.2.2. modem, then went thru "service mode" and did step by step. If the Apn settings you gave, wouldn't work, would flashing the att modem 100% work(got link for the modem, cba to find it atm, last time if flashed it, i used odin)? I'm on 4.4.2 Android version, Baseband: m919uvufnb4.

You're with AT&T on a Tmobile phone right? You should still need to have an AT&T modem. In the slot where it says "APN type", put it as IPv4 and the slot below "APN type", put it as IPv4, also. But non of that is worth trying if you are using AT&T service. You need AT&T modem and APN settings.
Edit: I was watching a movie and read you comment wrong lol. Yes you need to flash AT&T modem and APN

No problem, I was just wondering, is it safe to use other carriers modem onto T-mobiles phone, yet using At&ts modem(diff carrier), some people said it could screw up your IMEI or w.e rofl. I found the modems for i335 which is Att here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496517

Ahh okay, so I can just flash ATT NI1 KK modem(9/18/14) modem thru odin and i'm good? ;p
Off-topic, if you flash to att modem and you already unlocked your phone or w.e., nothing gets effected, once unlocked, stays unlocked eh?

Actually, be careful with this. The modem (which is two parts) has to be paired with the phone model. For example, an M919 can't use the modem from an I337. The Modem runs the radio hardware, which varies by phone. ATT & T-Mo variants have different antennae bands supported, so need somewhat different radios. I'm not sure if trying a different radio will brick anything, but numerous threads have said it doesn't work. The modem consists of the modem.bin (the "GSM Modem") which can be flashed at will, and the non-hlos.bin ("LTE Modem")which needs to be paired with the phone bootloader, or else chaos ensues.
You DO need the right APN settings. Unfortunately, I have no experience with the message center thing... can't help there.

Your phone will still be unlocked regardless. Try to change the APN setting to AT&T first. Like Frankenscript said, both phones have different radios so changing the modem might not work.

I seen people say it works and others say it didn't. Nothing about bricking the phone tho but I do understand what you are saying.
I tried ATT settings, didnt work. I put on H20 settings that were on the site, didn't work. Tried my bros H2O settings that he got from chat rep on their site, then 4G started working, but I keep getting "Mms failed, server error" or w.e. keeps failing, put the H2O internet settings(on), and mms settings. Not sure if his phone is missing something or because his phone is blocked on tmobile's networks, his using H2O meaning his on ATT's network.(i bought him a cheap 1$ mirco-sim, off ebay) Not sure if that plays any role, the calls are good, dats works now, etc, just mms wouldn't work. Suggestions? Some1 on H2Os rep side said it could be the "message center #", that's y it can't be sent or receive or w.e.(His is atts message center #, and its greyed out"
Anyone know how to fix mms problem?(cant receive or send atm, tried a lot of things). Mms keep failing, server error, not supported by network or w.e., lost on wut else to do.
Anyone?

This is the root of your problem, buying stuff from other people, it's probably stolen.
Throw it away and go buy a new phone from Att and this issue will go away.
Somethings fishy here.

Cell 4 sale store was selling it, not just a random person. I guess they probably either do it themselves ir buy it from ppl who do it.(upgrade their phone to gs4 or w.e. then claim it lost or stolen, thus keeping their old one and selling the new one) I think they probably flashed it to work for internation, but idk, might've been rooted before 4.4.2, since ota got installed, means root is gone. Anyway to fix the problem instead of just replying with a negative reply? I want to use the phone, calling etc works fine everywhere, 4g is a bit in some places, mms doesnt work at all, one rep at h2o said it might be cuz of message center number, he wanted me to change it to a diff one and see if it solves it or not, but my message center is greyed out.
Apparently there is something wrong with it, at least you should be able to get it replaced for one that works. It could be a build.prop issue. Just guessing.
Pp. Good luck.
Still looking for a solution, anything I could try, to fix Mms to work again?(cant send or receive as it says "server error", failed mms, etc)
Greetings everyone!
Signed up so that I can hopefully help someone else in need with their LG G3 phone using the Straight Talk 4G LTE Verizon sim card.
After many hours of flashing roms and trying out various things, it turns out for some reason other variants of the stock roms like Bliss Pop, CoudyG3, and Skydragon will not work with the data. I can still use my phone and make calls and i can still get text messages and even pictures sent through text messages, but for the life of me data would NOT work.
The only rom that did work again was the Jasmine rom. To my understanding it works pretty close to the stock verizon rom that comes with the LG G3. After the flash, BOOM! Everything worked and data came back to life.
I noticed the APN settings is very very different but this rom wont let you go in it to see it's settings. Surely there is a way to import/export the APN data to push on over to another custom rom? Just weird that after putting this specific custom rom data happily worked again.
BTW, if anyone tries to activate a verizon lg g3 with straight talk, be careful. Though their stupid website said that the phone was already registered with another tracfone provider/service, I was still able to get the phone to work. If after entering your MEID/EMI or whatever the numbers are and the straight talk website spits it back out at you, CALL straight talk. I got screwed and used up the network access code which somehow got lost into oblivion, but turns out that they themselves can manually add the Verizion 4G LTE sim card with the network access code card. (I bought the 4g LTE sim card package from wal mart). As long as the phone is in good standing, it will work!
Thanks. Hope this helps someone else out trying to get it to work with straight talk. I will try and see if there is a way to export this APN setting. I was told by straight talk that you don't need an APN set, but i think they are lying.
Peace!
solved
Back again,
Happy to report im using skydragon Rom with straight talk. Turns out you do in fact need to set the apn in the settings. Just add this apn
acct.tf.gw6.vzwentp
This is the apn for the Verizon 4g lte sim card when you use it. I didn't have to reset the phone but now data works great.
Hey question. I have a Straight Talk S3 currently running CM 11 kitkat based rom and things work great but I found other roms I want to install one of them being a Pac-Man custom rom but I have no data. I have a Verizon CDMA 4G LTE sim coming in acouple days just need the apn settings. Could anyone help me out with this? Thanx in advance for any help.
Sent from my SCH-S968C using xda premium
Surely it is the same APN setting as above. Try it out once you get your Sim card. Also, that S3 being a different phone may pick up on the access point names when you try another rom and set itself up, but if data is still not working, then try that APN I posted on the first post.
Also, be careful that you are actually connecting at LTE speeds as long as your area has it. Flashing to another rom I was only connecting at 3G. Turns out that once I tried another rom, you have to set the preferred network to LTE, then give the phone a reset. It took it a moment after reboot, but LTE finally showed up.
Depending on your phone, there are other settings to be set in it's hidden menu settings using the phones dialer. Just google around.
Hope this helps!
