Oneplus Two Original Flip-Cover Modification - OnePlus 2 Accessories

Hi there,
I just got my OPT with the official flipcover. Personally I like it (cover) pretty much so far. There was just one thing that could have been better in my opinion: the fact that the cover does not stay closed due to a lack of magnets or what so ever.
But i found a way to 'fix' that and want to share my solution for this problem (for those who own the cover and miss this 'feature' and for those who are not sure buying this case because of this.
My idea was to find a material which sticks to the screen but which you can also remove without any leftovers. My choice was a pad to clean your screen which you can stick to the back of your device (if the back of your phone is smooth). I guess most of you guys and girls have such a thing (i always get those cleaning pads as advertisements at my university).
So i cut small stripes of the edges and removed the cleaning pad from the sticky back (i just ripped it off). Then i glued two of those stripes with superglue onto the inside of my flip cover (where it is covering the edges of the screen).
I know it is not the most beautiful workaround, but it works (pretty well)! I dont know how long this lasts but it seems pretty tough. If the sticky things get dirty, you can simply clean it with a wet cloth. :good:
I will give this a bit of time and post an update in a few weeks.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all of you.
See you
Robin

This is pretty strange. I tried it on several devices (different computers, different mobile devices, also in private mode; on a device i never touched before, so that there is no possible cookies, passwords or whatsoever saved). It worked on all of them. Are you sure it is not a problem with your browser/device? Are pictures in other threads working? Is maybe an adblocker blocking the pictures?
I hope it will work soon.
Happy New Year

Searching for YOU sponsored from me personally. don't see a lot of negative here nor did i see someone showing close pictures of the white one either. I fit it in my pocket and don't want to add any bulk to my phone so personally skins suit me! As well as a lot of others.
Someone could get a clear case if the wanted and it will fit right over...
My 2 Cents
I think that looks sweet. Thinking about ordering one
That's extreme! Seems very portal-esc
If I was any good at applying these things I'd be down.
What area are you from??
very nice and clean!
i bet the texture is awesome.
I love the way it looks, how long has it been on? I'd like to know how well they hold up, they're kind of pricey and I've heard complaints about the corners peeling up. Keep us up to date on how it holds up.
I covered my KLR650 motorcycle in carbon print vinyl like this. It withstood six months of gnarly weather, dust and offroad.
Before I finally peeled it off, my bike looked like it was totalled. However, the paint underneath was flawless.
You can get a good result if you are slow and methodical. if not, it won't look so great.
Hmm, I ordered a roll of this stuff from Ebay and got it in. Looks really slick and I covered a few things to practice. But I think I need a good pattern for the Thunderbolt. Anyone have anything? Even another skin and a scanner?
Would greatly appreciate it and be willing to send someone a big enough piece for a couple of these if we can get a pattern going.
I can even send people chunks to make skins if they are willing to cover a couple bucks in shipping.
Do you think it offers much protection other than from surface scratches? Say from falls to the floor or concrete? Doesn't from the pictures and manufacturer's description.

it's just a sticker so I highly doubt it does anything other than prevent some scratches.
Does look cool. How charred up does it look then its removed? That's always my worry with them
It removed no issues. I took it off so I can recut a new skin with better cleaner edges and there is no resides at all.
I bought a roll of black off Ebay, so I cut my own skin. I wish I had a good pattern.
Looks pretty cool in a something different kind of way, also storm-troopery. I personally wouldn't cover the kickstand, though.
thumbs up, i'm really liking this

Gelaskins?

Does anyone have one of these for the Tab 10.1? If so, how is the coverage on it and are you happy w/ it? I've seen some posts about phones, but Want to know if the sides of the tab are protected enough and if the screen portion is any good on a tablet?
check pictures of it on an ipad or any other tablet, i believe the result is the same.

I looked at pics of the Pad and the corners are cut out. I don't like that at all. The pics on their site are photoshopped and you can't tell anything from that.
I just got mine today from amazon. Check the last page in the mega case thread. I like it. Anything will add some amount of weight/thickness. This one fits really well. I'm keeping it.

I just got mine today and I'm extremely satisfied with it so far.
The fit is absolutely perfect from edge to edge, on all the corners, and around the camera and flash. I'm actually astounded that they managed to get the measurements so perfect; it covers the entire back without overlapping the little gap between the back panel and the trim around the edge of the device.
It also adds a little bit more of a grippy feel to the back, even moreso than the metallic grey back (which is what I have), so it feels like it will be a little easier to hang onto the Tab and not drop it.
However, you're not going to find any protection for the edges with the Gelaskin, and the front piece will not protect your screen either; it simply covers the bezel around the screen. I didn't apply the front piece because I felt like it would be more distracting than the black bezel and it also won't line up with the Gelaskins wallpaper if you rotate the Tab. But if you wanted to apply the front piece, it does have cut-outs for the front-facing camera and the ambient light sensor.
If you're looking for more complete coverage you should definitely consider something else. Personally, I just wanted something that would look nice and protect the back side from scratches when I put the Tab down on a surface, and for that purpose the Gelaskin is perfect. It also adds no bulk and I bet it would easily fit inside of a case if you wanted to do something like Gelaskin on the back + transparent TPU case and maybe a screen protector for more complete protection. At that point the Gelaskin would just be there for looks, though.
Here's a couple photos of mine:
The photo of the camera/flash makes it look like the skin is not perfectly aligned around the flash, but this is just because of the angle at which I took the photo. It's actually aligned just as perfectly as it is around the camera.
If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them.
If people are buying from the gelaskins.com website, then they should put in 500PXSKINS and save 15%. I am debating if I should get one.
I just saw these on the net and came here to see if anybody had gotten one. I really like the idea of these. Perhaps even a custom one as none of the models available is tacky and loud enough for my tastes. Oh, the possibilities.
Very much grateful for the pics and reviews. I think ill bite. I like to here things like the fit is so good I don't know how they did it. Thanks again.

[Q][REVIEW] Leather wallet case + question about magnets

REVIEW IS HERE
I've found this on ebay.
It's pretty and cheap and i'm probably going to buy it (and if, i'll post here a depth review), but
QUESTION:
Can the magnetic closure ruin the phone? i mean by interferences or so
Thanks.

Thanks! I've also found some thread related to other phones and the conclusion is the same.
I'll let you know.
I was wondering the exact same thing just the other day. The blackberry pouches have a magnet to cater to its auto shut off feature. But seeing that the G-nex does not have this feature, would the magnet cause any internal damage?

I just received the item and the magnets seems to be strong enough to keep the cover closed but not to interfere with the phone. Plus the screen doesn't seems to be attracted by the magnets.
I'll post a review this evening.
It would.be.cool.if we could make this like the iPad and power on when opened.
Looking forward to your review.
i like the concept of these, but, not sure if i would like having to open something every time i would need to use my phone. not to mention i don't think i would like trying to talk on it and the flap covering half my face or credit cards falling out. and then i would have to pop it out every time i get in the car to put it in my dock.
cool idea though. i would consider it if it just had a cash-stash and cc slots on the back side without the flap
CASE REVIEW (a sort of)
PROs
- The phone fits perfectly in the case.
- The magnets don't seem to interfere with anything.
- The front cover bends without any problem and doesn't slap my face while calling.
- The screen is very well protected
CONs
- The plastic inner case doesn't have proper top and bottom sides leaving the phone quite unprotected there as you can see from the photos.
- The credit card pocket sewing can mark the screen, but it's nothing permanet.
Let me know if you have more questions.

A solution is to use the proximity sensor but I think that if it was feasible then someone would have already done it.

[Q] How to disable smart cover sensor on T800

Got the T800 6 days ago, love it.
On Sunday I got a Muvit butterfly stand case to go with it. Now this cover turns off the screen when I
fold it back. Even when it's in a reading stand and I pick it up and accidentally squeeze the cover towards the tablet it turns off the screen.
I hate it when I don't have control over my tablet. I looked for a solution by freezing a lot of Samsung apps, I disabled the smart cover option under settings, all to no avail.
Is there anything I can do? Perhaps flash a different kernel? I have rooted the latest official firmware, but apart from flashing twrp I haven't done anything else.
This is the case I got. I have no clue where the magnets are, and in any case, cutting them out would basically destroy it. So that's not a solution either.
http://www.tabletcenter.be/product-gallery/514549/category-195707/345915
Maybe:
If you heat a magnetic material above its Curie Temperature, its magnetism vanishes entirely. When the magnet cools down again, all the microscopic magnetic domains will point in circles, so the magnet will have zero overall field. Neodymium magnets have a low Curie Temp, so they are more sensitive to overheating than other types of magnets.
If you expose a magnet to the field from a strong electromagnet, the electromagnet will magnetize the magnet perhaps in a different polarity. But if we instead use an AC electromagnet, then move it away from the magnet, the magnet's polarity will flip back and forth, becoming weaker and weaker. The magnet will end up demagnetized. This is called Degaussing.
So...maybe you can find, or someone can suggest, a source for a strong AC magnetic field??? Then remove the tablet from the case and and introduce the case into the AC magnetic field??
On the S 10.5 the sensor is located in the lower right corner of the tablet. Looking at the screen, it's about 1/2 inch from the right and just about 3/4 inch from the bottom (just above where the black masking ends). You can use the tip of a magnetic screwdriver or something similar to pinpoint it. It can be activated from the either the front or the back of the tablet. It is just about where the red dot in the picture is located.
Just trying to help....

Thank you for your reply, never thought about degaussing the case's magnet. Interesting idea. I was originally thinking about going for a software solution but I'll certainly try to find do a way to perform your solution. BTW, the picture doesn't show in the tapatalk forum app nor on the Web based forum.
The again.

Dont know if this helpes you, but on my original samsung cover I can see the location of the magnets (they started showing after some time and after wiping the cover down several times to clean it)
There is a row in the right lower corner and 1 in the middle.

I had the same idea when I got my G4 a few months ago. I tried to check some of the Chinese website, I can't find one.
Haven't heard about such thing until now, checked out the iPhone4s and man does that look awesome. Let us know if you find one for the G4
Edit: tried my clear silicone case on the phone without the back cover and it looks pretty dope already
make a model for a 3d printer and I will print it on friends 3d printer he has one in office
Doesn't the back cover have NFC or wireless charging or both stuck on there?

It does, but you can purchase the stickers on Amazon for relatively cheap.
Sorry for digging this thread up after 27 months but maybe anyone here found/made a 3d model of that backdoor?
I'm working on accommodating camera covers on my H815 and opened a thread to discuss how to do that on the front without sacrificing the screen protector:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/accessories/camera-cover-custom-screen-protector-t3776657
But this leaves the issue of the main camera - the flat surface of the glass on top of it is too small to fit a cam cover slider and the area around the camera is curved. No way to stick that cam cover for longer than a day before it snaps right off in my pocket.
I'm planning to either print just the support for the cover - something to stick on top of the curved surface next to the camera to let the cam cover rest partially on the camera glass and partially on the support. That would still be rather suboptimal unless I use superglue for everything
- printing it precisely enough is one challenge, gluing it is one more, then gluing the cam cover is yet another. Then, having 3 elements made of 3 different materials connected on three surfaces (backdoor to support, camera glass to cam cover, support to cam cover), one of which isn't flat (backdoor) would make the whole thing rather loose without the superglue. But I think I'll end up doing just that since I can't seem to find the 3d backdoor model.
I was considering getting a 3d model of the whole backdoor to mod it so that this support would be its integral part - or even to integrate the cam cover slider right into it. And that's how I ended up here.
The reason why I want cam covers on there is not only because I'm paranoid but also because my cameras tend to get greasy so every time I try to take a pic I first get a foggy picture, then I wipe the cameras and have to re-take it. I had a cover on the back of my LG G2 D802 (the camera glass and the backdoor were perfectly flat in that area) and it helped a lot both with keeping the camera clean and with my anxieties.
