Hey guys!
I wanted to root my HTC One M8 and ran into a little problem doing so.
This is what I have done:
Unlock bootloader through HTC Dev
Flashing the unlock.bin
Bootloader is now unlocked
Flash TWRP
Erase cache
Boot into Recovery
However, instead of seeing the familiar TWRP screen like on my previous phones, the phone shuts down completely after shortly showing the HTC logo. This is my getvar output:

I have tried multiple versions of both TWRP and CWM, but neither do anything. It should also be noted, that when the cable is still plugged in, the orange low-battery indicator LED starts blinking, together with my screen flickering on and off (intervals of 5 seconds) with big battery charging sign on it. Could this be a battery problem? The phone boots normally into the Stock ROM.
Your device is not a HTC M8 ! Get your hardware facts right and you would have known its a HTC M8-S !
And now you know that you can stick to this thread, it has pretty much all info you need !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3114245
And please read up on what you want to do and why you are doing it ! And PLEASE make a NANDROID BACKUP before attempting anything

Damn I feel so stupid right now! Thanks for pointing it out, totally thought I had an M8, my memory is pretty bad :/
Prologue:
So there I was, caressing my shiny and smooth M8.
At the beginning of the year I S-Offed, and added DigitalHigh's awesome Beyond Stock...
Later on, I used a standard RUU GPE Rom.
After repeated Wi-Fi password amnesia, I wanted Beyond Stock Back.
Flashing "GPE_5.1_M8_DH_080215.zip" gives me an "Error 7" even with repeated wipes... hehe... wipes
Searching didn't give me a coherent answer.
So I though, let's update TWRP... and...
Now
The thing's only usable in Bootloader.
If I go to recovery or ANYTHING, the "Google" logo stares at me in disgust.
Odd detail: I'm using fastboot and when it's stuck on the "Google" logo, entering "adb devices" detects the phone in recovery mode.
I flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0, but all I see is the "Google" logo. (I can still feel vibrations on the screen as if I'm hitting a menu button)
I also tried to "fastboot -w" and it gave me the "remote: not allowed" result.
Actually, I tried to fastboot a lot of things and the result came the same.
Anyways, I'll give a detailed log as soon as I remember how, but the reason I post this is 'cause searching for this doesn't give an understandable or reliable result.
Thanks

Give the output of :
Fastboot getvar all
But delete the serial and imei before posting ! If you have an old bootloader you have to use the 2.7 series of TWRP. if you have the latest bootloader (3.18-3.19) you have to use 2.8 series of TWRP !
OOOOOOOOOHHHH, Where I get new M8 bootloader?
Hold Up, going to work, will post 'getvar' later today.
It's there, brah.
Take a look if you can.
It's an AT&T device, you are using it with AT&T ? And you fully converted it from sense to GPE ? You could also :
1: run the GPE ruu again. It will get you on GPE stock again and since you are s-off that should not be a problem of any kind.
2: convert back to sense (original AT&T with software number x.xx.502.x)
i am not sure if the AT&T RUU will cover the "back to sense conversion" so this might be interesting too as it involves the standalone flashing of the firmware first (you need a AT&T firmware, NOT the one posted there !!!)
here is more conversion info :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733523
and here you can get firmwares : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
if you want number 2 here is more info with a download link to the latest android L RUU : http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-att-htc-one-m8-lollipop-ruu-4-28-502-1-75822/
Didnt want to start my own thread due to the shame..
Hi,,
I have managed to remove my OS, without making a backup. All i have running is TWRP. Was going to install CM12.1, but didnt update the M8 to the latest software that contains relevant bootloader. From here it went downhill - fast.
Ended up with no OS, no backkups, and no ability to flash other ROMS i think.
If someone could give me a few ideas, i would really appreciate it.

Your case is different and you should start your own thread but there are many same case as yours.
Here is one and the solution is in there.. run RUU - http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/os-sos-t3192177
Anything you're not sure, ask there. Don't hijack this thread.
UPDATE: Thanks to ckpv5 and the links that were provided i was able to complete the reinstall - thank you so much!!
Opps - sorry - didnt mean to offend!
Will take a look.
Thanks
Mike
The RUU got me an OS and, right now, that is all I need.
Thank you!!
Hi I am on a carrier based phone, the OTA update on the second part of marshmallow android update was not installing and giving me an error in the cache, a clear cache and factory reset did not work and none of my play store apps would update (im not sure if this was due to only part 1 of 2 of the update installed and has corrupted something somewhere) and so I decided to unlock my bootloader and after a lot of reading managed to install TWRP, after a lot more reading I decided that due to play store and certain apps not working on rooted phones I would like to return it to stock, I have not installed SuperSU as yet and was trying to find out if there are any firmware files or RUU or even a stock recovery to install the second part of the ota update out there that will work on my h3g tied phone as I have read that the HTC_Europe RUU would not be compatible due to me having the h3g firmware on my phone. If anyone could help me it would really be appreciated. My details of the model are below. The build number is missing for some reason but the phones settings say it is: 1.21.771.3 CL718283 release-keys.

Hi,
I was trying to flash my HTC ONE M8s but was unsuccessful. I wasn't aware that only a certain ROM could be used.
I am not exactly sure what I did but even the recovery partition is gone. Anytime I try to go into recovery or boot the phone it just goes to the htc logo screen. I have tried to flash a new recovery (TWRP) and (CWM). Fastboot tells me it has gone across ok but when I try to boot into recovery again I just get the htc logo screen.
I have tried to use ADB but it will not pick up my device. I don't think I enabled developer mode correctly before I started fooling around with the phone.
I unlocked the bootloader but still have S-ON. I have tried using RUU file for my model id but still nothing.
Is there any tools out there that I can use to totally wipe the phone clear and start fresh without having to send it back to HTC.
The reason I tried to flash it in the first place was that my camera stopped working after the update for Marshmallow came out. I asked HTC about it and they just wanted me to send it to them.
Their support is not very good!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also if this post is not in the right place feel free to move me on, this is my first time.

hi, everybody.
I wanted to flash a custom ROM on my a51_dtul device with KitKat android. but it didn't work. so I wiped cache, Dalvik and internal storage as well. in fact, nothing is in internal storage now, and won't boot any os. my device is unlocked and below is the information.

I also downloaded the firmware from the gsmdevelopers(i can't provide the link), but the zip file is corrupted.
but you can reach the link here on number 5
but I flashed a firmware in Hboot mode and successfully done it. but still don't boot any os and any time I reset or reboot it stucks in boot loop and gets back to TWRP recovery mode. I really don't know what should I do.
I wanted to flash cm12 with a higher android version, but I loosed what I had .
if anybody has the backup for a51_dtul can upload for me? at least I can use my phone if I restore it.
