Remove vs Disable for OTG / Safe Apps to Disable - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to ask what is better, Remove or Disable. I'd like to reduce bloatware but still use the OTG.
And I'd like to know if it's ok to disable apps, and the OTG would still work? or will it also cause bootloops?
Also, I'd like to know the list of applications that are safe to "Remove" and "Disable" but still retain the OTG.
I've seen a thread that has a Debloat Script but i think using it would make OTG unusable.

I don't see any connection with uninstalling apps and otg.

[Q] Soft reboot when turning on USB storage

Has any one else experienced the issue that the Fairphone performs a soft reboot when turning on USB storage, effectively making it impossible to transfer files to/from your phone the normal way? I have disabled the mood background, so that can't be it...
As a workaround, for now I'm transferring files through adb, but that's far from ideal.

Same problem here. Today I recognized that there is no connection via USB possible anymore. Didn't use this function for some days but always I try right now it leads to softreboot. Still using 1.1 Caju.
Reproducible. Possible workaround:
Yes, this is reproducible.
What works for me: turning on USB debugging, turning of XPrivacy and GravityBox, re-initialise XPosed framework, hard-reboot.
I figured it might have something to do with XPrivacy, but I'm not able to do further research at the moment.
I also got no time to edit the Wiki - could someone please do that? If you've got an account here, you can edit the wiki, folks! If you do, could you consider adding info on this thread for faster A-GPS locks?

Since there's no real solution yet, what should we put on the wiki and where? Here?
Since I use XPrivacy and GravityBox as well, it might be related to (one of) those. Another partial workaround I have is to connect the phone to my computer, then in the notification drawer touch "Touch for other USB options", and then select either "Media device (MTP)" or "Camera (PTP)" as opposed to the default "USB storage". This will only be useful when you want to transfer media (audio, pictures, videos, ...) to and from your device though...

Spoof device type? App acts differently on tablet than sideloaded.

I have an app that I would like to use on my FireTV, but I can't seem to get it to work.
It is meant for a tablet and when you open it on a tablet it gives you the option of logging in using your cable provider credentials (tested on Nexus7-2013). After putting it on the FireTV it acts much differently when you open it, not asking for the cable provider credentials. I tried editing some of the fields in build.prop and that didn't seem to have any effect. Anyone know how I could go about either spoofing the device info to the app OR removing the check? I don't know what the policy is on here about such things, so I am trying to remain vague. However, my Sunday will be fantastic if I can get this working.
you can try market helper, but it needs root.
Xinstaller has the option to change all of these settings.
You need to have root and xposed installed to use xinstaller.
Also, some of those apps are meant for wifi (though i had no problems there)

Any way to block all apps from being installed, including Free apps?

So I have a couple TV Sticks and have Parental Controls turned on. However, parental controls only prevent the kids from installing apps that cost money. They can still install any FREE app that they want to and there's apparently no way to prevent this. Seems like an idiot design to me. I don't want anyone installing any apps on my TV sticks without putting in a Pin first.
So, since Amazon's built in system can't handle this, is there anything else I can do like with an AppLock type app or something like that? I just don't want any apps to be able to be installed on my TV Stick at all. Preferably a simple Pin would allow them but even if it's more work, that's fine. I have all the apps on it that I need and jsut want to prevent the kids from installing all kinds of stupid games and stuff like that when I'm not in the room.
Thanks!

7t No longer connects to pc via USB

Before you start in let me say that Im proficient in android and computers. When I use the red usb cable designed fot our 7t ( and any other cable) both my pcs fail to recognize both my 7t's. Fail to recognize as in no prompts, no nothing on the pc side for me to see at all. It only charges. The usb preferences are all greyed out, and even with the developer option usb debugging enabled they are still greyed out and nothing connects. My pc doesnt even see my android phone.
Are we having a software issue here?

No you don't, you can connect to your computer and toggle through all of the USB modes without touching the OTG service in settings. I have never had to enable it, I plug into a USB and I'm ready to do whatever I needed.
To the OP, sounds like your phone is having some kind of driver/communication issue since you have tried 2 separate computers to no avail. If you have done all of the easy troubleshooting such as restarting, clearing cache and stuff like that I would suggest backing up data and factory resetting the device. One suggestion I have for you before resorting to a reset is to reboot the phone into safe mode and try plugging it in once booted, I have heard of some random 3rd party apps and/or modules causing weird issues like this. If it works again in safe mode then I would delete all apps you installed that aren't mainstream i.e Facebook, instagram

App for Freezing, Disabling or Uninstalling?

I used to use Package Disabler Pro on the Play Store for debloating but it doesn't seem to work anymore. Are there any apps for debloating or can we only do it via ADB? I'd prefer a GUI so I can easily undo something that I shouldn't have disabled and causes issues. Thanks!
Just google for "Alliance shield X". It disables packages and has firewall with ad blocker. Free.
I use SD Maid Pro, its great. You can freeze or totally delete apps, and it allows you to control which apps automatically start up when your phone boots up.
......but only if you're rooted.
packagedisabler.com, not on Playstore. I've used it for years. Stable and is a useful tool.
Pair it with Karma Firewall.
All the Playstore disablers eventually have failed... lol, it's their nature.
