Hello everyone,
i bought the SM-P607T during my deployment in Afghanistan over Ebay USA . Spending my time there i tested the device and installed all updates etc. Back in Germany just my wife used it. Some weeks ago i noticed that an update to Lollipop should be avaible so i took the device to bring it up to date and i noticed some problems.
(Please note that i am just a noobie to flashing and rooting android and just follow guides to get to my goal.)
1. Device only loading while shut down. (After rooting and installation of TWRP it strangely started to load while on again even on PC USB connection)
2. Its not possible to connect the device with any PC.
3. OTA updates stop at around 27% and fail (KitKat 4.4.4)
[In TWRP shown
"E: Error executing updater binary in zip /data/fota/update.zip
E: Error installing zip file /data/fota/update.zip"]
Strange enough that the update info shown in android is Chinese Version
Tried to get some support with Samsung Europe but unfortunately they say US device US problem......
So what did i do in the meantime
1. Tried different loading devices frome Samsung and 3rd party companys. No changes.
2. Tried several different data cables to connect to 4 different PC. Even the one wich worked good with my Honor7 or the Galasy S4 mini dont do with the 607
3. My last try to fix this problem was to change the USB charging dock completely. Also didn´t change anything.
4. Now the step where i am currently stuck. I managed to root the device and install TWRP(v2.8.7.0) . Now tried to install Version P607TUVUBOI2 via SD Card.
Just followed diffenrent Guides on youtube and forums but im stuck at this.
Here is the message i got in TWRP recovery:
"Installing /external_sd/1/TMB-P607TUVUBOI2-20510930112901.zip
Checking for MD5 file....
Skipping MD5 check : no MD5 file found
Error flashing /external_sd/1/TMB-P607TUVUBOI2-20510930112901.zip
updating partition details......
Checked the *.zip on my PC there was just this file in: P607TUVUBOI2_P607TTMB1BOI2_P607TUVUBOI2_HOME.tar.md5
Downloaded the file from a different source again with same result
It would be very nice if someone is capable to help me with this and give me a hint what i possibly did wrong (Please do not mention not to buy in the US). For me it doesnt matter if i got a rooted or not routed version to install my main goal is to get rid of 4.4.2 . The problem with the not working USB connection is the biggest show stopper for me.

I really confused about your description? you using twrp to flash a .zip rom? then you mentioned about .md5 rom on your pc? how did you flash? With .md5 rom you need to use Odin to flash. Can you boot into download mode (hold down volume down + Home buttons then press power button)? If you able to boot to download mode, your pc should able to see the device and you would use Odin to flash the .md5 rom from your pc to the device. Also where did you download the .zip rom?

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S Plus here which is almost brand new and has only been used for some phone/texts/emails so far.
I connected it to a PC running Samsung Kies and it told me there was a firmware update available for this phone, so i clicked ok and had it install.
During the installation, at 22%, everything freezes and locks up, it remained at 22% for 45 minutes until (after some googling) i was recommended to just turn it off / reboot it.
After rebooting, i constantly get this icon on the screen :
Copy & paste the following in a web browser (as I'm not allowed to place a link or picture apparently)... : img267.imageshack.us/img267/930/fotofg.jpg
I tried removing the battery for 10 seconds and then boot it up again - same screen.
And it doesn't matter if its connected to the PC or not, its always that screen.
And when it IS connected to the pc, samsung Kies shows the 'connecting' screen but it never actually connects.
What do I do ?
How is it possible that someone's phone gets locked/frozen for simply trying to update ?!

Custom solution
Hello,
It's a big problem, but maybe can you blame samsung? However, I don't know if you have CMW, but try to boot that and than install custom rom (a zip rom). After that you can install original firmware.
If that doesn't work find a rom that works with odin, boot in download mode and install that rom, after that install original firmware.
Similar thing append to me but wile using odin i got the same screen.
What i did was connect it gain to the pc, odin detected it and was able to flash the rom.
It was pretty scary i assure you.
My advise is if the phone is brand new take it to your dealer a let them sort this out as it was not your fault at all.
If it's a brand new phone I'd use Samsung's warranty or maybe even return it.
Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 i8160 - SpoofFW "Restore" without any backup [finished]
Hello,
I bought an ACE 2 for my son, he routed these device (without which I knew about...) and does this with a software called heimdall under Linux. He "backuped" his PIT before (which is the partitioning scheme I readed somewhere on xda).
This part is no problem he said (I think differently about this, but...)
Then he wanted to update the firmware, so he downloaded a software called SpoofFW (I found about this app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959806) and clicked "Restore" under the menu. After that the device tried to reboot and now it is in a thing that is called bootloop I believe (I readed somewhere here on xda about that, the device is booting to the Samsung Logo and then after a while it is booting again and so on)
We have a Linux PC (with heimdall) and I installed on my Windows PC a software called Odin and the Android SDK (have no idea if it is needed, but I readed somewhere that it has a tool named adb which is needed to fix some problems of Android smartphones)
An USB connector and an installed Kies. The phone dosn't responsed to these Software but it dosn't boot up, so I think it is normal. All drivers are get installed which was ask for after pluging in the phone to the Windows PC, except the MPT driver.
Also we have microsd cards here.
The phone comes in the screen for flashing and the screen titled "Android system recovery (3e)", but the last one starts with these output:
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Can't access to '/system/csc/EPL/system'.
Successfully applied multi-CSC.

I can navigat in the menu above with the volum keys.
The problem is I have no idea about android/smartphone rooting things (like my son...), but about computer in general (and I can use the forum search, which delivered no result).
I hope that anyone here can help us with this and do it.
Yours faithfully,
Thorsten Mueller
p.s. he had also written down the product code.

The way to get the Smartphone back to work, after these mistake is to flash the original firmware (for Germany the Poland/2012 April/2.3.6/8160XXLD8/8160OXXLD3 works very well.
Thanks to Messi10 and Der-Knuffi (I clicked on the Thanks button)
boot into recovery mode then wipe data and cache

Thank you for the tip, but that has made no difference. It goes still in bootloop, after a wipe of data and cache.

OK, my phone is not bricked, but I certainly am…
Trying to reset phone from Chinese to International using posted guide
GT-I9100G
Android 4.0.4
Baseband version I9100GZCLPJ
Kernel version: 3.0.8-1067026
Build number: IMM76D.ZCLPJ
Following the instructions kindly provided by Harchoaoui,
I downloaded the Espresso International i9100g folder and unzipped on my pc.
I then booted my phone to reset (volume up; home button; power button), and wiped “data/factory reset” and “cache partition” (these were the only options available). Removed the battery and connected i9100g with USB cable – Nothing happened!
Tried disconnecting/reconnecting i9100g multiple times – Still Nothing happened!
I repeated this process, following the Guide instructions, several times with the same sad results.
What am I doing wrong?????????????????
I am also seeking clarification of the following:
Assuming that Harchaoui, et al, can set me straight here, I’m still not clear how to manually load Drivers from my PC to the i9100g. More Help needed…
The usb_drv_windows I downloaded contains two sub-folders (amd64 and i386 both containing two drivers [WdfCoInstaller01009.dll and winsubcoinstaller2.dll]. More confusion for this Brick.
…and lastly (I hope): How do I run the omap4430hs_espresso_Inter i9100g.bat file on the phone.
I fully recognize that these are the questions of a complete Brick, but I truly need your help – I’m stuck with a Chinese i9100G that I can’t properly utilize.
PLEASE NOTE: I am posting here because I was not able to post on Q & A Forum

Hello, i also can't root i9100g , whenever i try to do any official rom it say's that "RE-PARTION FAILED" I don't know why? before i was using cm10 v2.16 then i root to 2.3.6 then my i9100g get updates and i updated it fully the last update was of 10 MB which change my mobile baseband to I9100GZCLPJ and build number IMM76D.ZCLPJ. after getting this update i can't flash or root my mobile. is there any one know how can i fix this problem to root i9100g to any other official rom. i tried, 2.3.6, 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 but every time the same result,
If i connect mt gt-i9100g to pc with usb my phone connects and disconnects immediately and i would not get a chance to install the drivers!!?? I am running windows 10
I messed up my nova 2 i think. However I got TWRP from cofface, which is working fine. However I am not able to get my phone back working.
I tried this thread with the image supplied there. But no luck. Maybe I am doing it wrong.
I tried to update with sd card update as stated here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nova-2/help/help-restore-stock-recovery-t3741034
But phone boots in Huawei eRecovery and when I select "Download latest version and recovery", connect to Wifi, the process fails
"Getting package info from server" -> "Getting package info failed".
Any help on how to get my phone back to life / install stock rom / install alt os is very much appreciated. I am not that experienced yet to track errors in my process. :cyclops:
When attempting to root, install a custom ROM, or even install the original firmware, you may encounter issues that are caused by a broken cord, a dead computer, or when the firmware you installed is corrupted or you have the incorrect version installed. However, covering all error messages in a single article is difficult. As a result, we're focusing solely on "An error occurred when updating the device software." Samsung Galaxy Smartphones exhibit this error. It happened to me on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus with One UI and Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12 firmware.
We have two options for fixing this: official and unofficial. The latter is suggested.
Unofficial Method
Using Frp HiJacker by Hagard
In this method, we will be using the unofficial application “Frp HiJacker by Hagard“.
1. First you need to download the application from this link.
2. Once downloaded please extract the zip archive and you will get a “.exe” file. Double click on it to install.
3. In the second installation window you will be asked to enter the password. Now enter “www.gsmhagard.com” as the password and complete the installation.
4. Once done connect your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone with your PC and open the “Frp HiJacker by Hagard” application.
Now if the box near “Port” is empty then please click the “Scan” button. Once done your phone will be detected by the application.
Else type your model number.
However, if the box is already filled automatically you are good to proceed.
5. Now select “Soft Brick Fixer” and click the “HIJACK IT!” button.
That’s it your Galaxy Smartphone will reboot and the error will be gone for good.
Official Method
This method uses the official Samsung “Smart Switch” PC application.
1. First please download and install the Smart Switch application on your Windows PC from this link and for MAC OS here.
2. Now open Smart Switch If your device is connected you will get the phone model on this screen. If your Galaxy Smartphone is already connected please press the 3 dots on the top right corner and you will get a dropdown.
3. Now tap on “Emergency Software Recovery “. If you are good to go your phone model will be listed in the window’s list.
If you can see your phone’s model there please select it and click “OK” and follow the onscreen steps to resolve the error.
However, if you are not able to see your phone model or not able to connect to Smart Switch In this case please click on the second option which is “Reinstall device driver “.
When you get the window please click “Confirm” to proceed with phone driver installation.
Continue from "Step-3" once the device driver installation is complete and you can connect your phone to the "Smart Switch."
If you are unable to connect your Galaxy Smartphone to Smart Switch or if your phone model is not listed under "Emergency Software Recovery," you should utilize the Unofficial approach.
This actually helped me. Say, I've noticed it also has "remove FRP". Can you please explain how to perform this operation, too?

What do you mean?
It only solved the error. I still have FRP.
I have found this video though, and even though it looks quite dangerous (for the PC), I gave it a try.
I'm only half way there. I got to the point that I'm in the settings of the OS.
The video is here:

I had this exact same issue while trying to install twrp on my galaxy s7 edge, after a lot of searching I could'nt find any solutions. I ended up choosing an older version of twrp and uploaded that, which fixed the issue.

Hey! Could you report which version of twrp you used? I ran into exactly the same problem with my galaxy s7 edge and would like to try your solution
Man! Thank you! Most readable guide. Tried others, but they are so convoluted, you wrote it so good, fixed soft brick on S10!
