I have always been experiencing this problem. While I play songs with speaker with full or nearly full volume, there are some hoarse/corrosive sounds in CM 12.1/CM 13. It also exists in other ROMs. But the sound are clear and without distortions in MIUI.
Can anyone help to fix this or maybe give a hint about how to have sound quality like MIUI(i.e. not corrosive) or maybe help to port?
Yes you are right i am also observed this on cm roms but then i tried installing dolby atmos in cm13 and cm12.1 and really sound quality got improved so much

Hello! I'm using jfxperias' Evo 9 rom and I love the sound I get from it via poweramp and viper4android. It sounds better than my dead and buried ipod classic did and it saves me one less thing to carry when I go out. Lately I've been trying pure cm11, cm12 and Resurrection remix roms but I don't get the same audio quality and sound levels on them as evo 9 which is kind of a disappointment. This phone is my daily driver and also my music player and I'd like to be able to use newer updated roms on it as time goes by but the sound output is just not the same on the ones I've tried so far. Does anyone else face the same situation here? I would appreciate it if I could get some pointers regarding this. Thanks!
Hello guys! I'm experiencing sound distortion problems on every AOSP-based rom with android > 4.0 - for example GB, ICS ROMs are ok, but jelly baby/jelly mod/purekat etc. are already have such trouble.
Main problem is that after i increasing volume higher than the "safe level", the sound becomes very distorted (seems like sound pumping after very hard limiting).
I tried to disable\freeze dsp manager, apollo and all that could be causing this, but there is no effect. And yes, after deleting i got clean sound for a while, but a bit later bad sound returning, and only reboot can help for a while again. Also there is very problematic to install some things like viper4android, and poweramp native effects are working very poor (poweramp with sense roms plays pretty much better).
So there is a question - what can i do to made sound just as on the sense roms? Without some kind of sound processors? I just wanted to listen music with poweramp with it's native EQ. Hopefully experienced users of DZ still read these forums. Thanks in advance!
Hi there...
I would like to use some AOSP based ROM on my LG G3 D855, but I've already tested many, and all of them have a poor audio recording quality.
On the video recording, the audio is pretty acceptable, but if you try to record any music playing at a high volume with some bass (on shows / parties), you will get a distorted and clipped audio.
When recording audio through WhatsApp (or any other audio recording app) the situation is even worst, even voice-only recordings have a really bad quality and noise.
With Stock-based ROMs, none of this problem happens, I can record songs with high volume even when using Whatsapp and it doesnt sound creepy.
So, is there any ROM with a audio comparable to the official-based ROMs?
Thanks in advance... Im really seaching for it. :crying:
PS: I pretend to record a song with both stock and aosp roms, and share the audio here so you can compare it by yourself.
Bump
I have the same issue and I was wondering if there's any solution. Microphone quality is absolutely terrible! My daily driver is Ressurection Remix.

I'm having the same problem on XenonHD. I can't understand what the other guy is saying after recording calls.
This issue is related to stock roms having proper drivers (or framework) to record sound. AOSP does not have access to this so it is noisy. This alone is the only reason I'm still on stock based rom. I really want to use AOSP, but cannot without proper call recording.

Yea I also wonder about a solution.
The quality is good on the Ressurection ROM?
Sound is heavily distorted when using my Bose QC 35. It doesn't appear when I use a wired headphone (and earphone). It's a software issue because downloaded media, and Soundcloud audio distorts; while playing YouTube videos don't.
It's incredibly unbearable when there's anything remotely bass to the music...
and I listen to music with lots of bass, so..
I'm using a Resurrection Remix ROM (5.8.3)
I don't use RR, and don't know if it's a known bug. Mostly just some shots in the dark here: Are there any sound mods, and if so, does disabling them make any difference?
Do the apps that cause distortion have their own EQ or other sound options, and if so does disabling them make any difference?

Nope, as far as I can tell, RR does not come with any sound mods installed.

I have tried using multiple music playing apps, with and without EQs. RR also came with an EQ app; with or without EQ, sound is still distorted.
Anyways, I do believe ResurrectionRemix is causing the sound distortion. Probably a bug on their end (as i've noticed many, already). Hoping to get a better experience once I flash a stock Android O rom (what with AptX codec and all that)...
No more custom ROMs for me. Thanks for the reply nonetheless!
UPDATE: Funnily enough, the EQ are the ones that sort of bandaged-fixed the sound problem! It seems like the 60Hz range are the ones primarily causing distortions (the bass). Lowering that made the distortions virtually impossible to hear... at the cause of losing bass, which kinda sucks. But for now, this'll do. Hopefully flashing a stock ROM next time will truly fix this.
As a user of S8,S8+ and other android phones, my earphones work perfectly without any audio loss. Same with my PC. But with my redmi note 8 on MIUI, I have some audio loss. I can feel it in my ears :cyclops: .
What I have experienced is that with any AOSP 9 or 10 roms, the audio is perfect like any of my other phones. But with MIUI and every MIUI ROM I experience some kind of audio and bass loss ??
I really don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this. Let me know.
Also I've used on MIUI v4afx, JamesDSP, and Dolby but still they don't work as good as with AOSP ROMS.
Does anyone have an idea why this is happening and how can I fix this somehow ? Thanks.
