With my gen1 firetv or firetv stick, I can't get them to pair with the Microsoft Mobile Mouse 3600 (bluetooth). I have settings.apk loaded and when I click to search for devices, the mouse doesn't appear in the list.
If I turn on the bluetooth on my Nexus 6P, the firetv can see the phone and the phone can see the mouse, so the mouse is working. Do I need root to pair a mouse to firetv?
Could the bluetooth on the mouse be too new (Bluetooth 4.0 / 4.1 Bluetooth Low Energy)? I think the gen1 firetv / stick is still on android 4.2 and maybe that version is too old? I fired up my old Samsung Skyrocket (4.1) and it too can't see the mouse. I think the gen2 firetv is on android 5.x. So I wonder if/when gen1 gets that upgrade, it will help. I now see that the mouse specs asks for Android 4.4.2/5.0. Crap.
Well, I upgrade to 5.0.3 and it still doesn't see the mouse.
I flashed cm11 (4.4) onto my 4.1 skyrocket phone and now that phone can see the mouse. So definitely the mouse is OK and I just need amazon to fix their firmware.
FireTV now on official 5.0.5 and still it can't see the bluetooth mouse. I'm starting to think that bluetooth mice are not supported.

BT mice are supported, at least some of them are.
My Apple Magic Trackpad (1st gen) pairs with no issue.
My Apple Magic Mouse (1st gen I think - its from 2008) does not pair but is detected, It's my understanding that this issue is related to the Apple hardware.
Those are the only BT mice I have access to, but it is proof that there is some BT Mice support in 5.0.5 (I've paired it to FTV2 and FTV Stick).
However the mouse toggle app works better than a trackpad for me at least.
I posted a similar problem in General (my mistake I would guess.)
The problem for me is only on the Fire Stick but my Fire TV works fine. My next step is to reset the Fire Sticks to factory and see if it helps. I have had the sticks from before Bluetooth was officially supported and long ago I altered lots of things attempting to make a mouse work. Maybe something was left broken.
From the other post:
"I have 2 Fire Sticks. Neither will discover either a Microsoft Arc Touch BT mouse nor a Logitech MX Anywhere Mouse 2 in Bluetooth mode. Fire OS v. 5.2.1.2
Both mice happily pair with my brand new Fire TV (non-stick.) Fire OS 5.2.4.0
Can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks in advance. "

I apologize up front because I can see that this has been discussed but I can't find a definitive answer after reading through all the different threads.
Is there a way to pair a bluetooth keyboard + mouse/trackpad to the Fire TV with a device that can't be rooted?
I ask because like a lot of others, I just pre-ordered the Fire TV Stick. Now I know it's not out so we don't know what it can/can't do but assuming the code is the same, I'm trying to do some homework before it arrives. And since the Stick doesn't have the USB inputs, I have to rely on Bluetooth or maybe an app for a virtual keyboard/mouse if anyone knows of one.
Thanks in advanced!
I didn't even think of that. I ordered two. I use my K400 occassionally for different apps. I was using the limitless remote app too. The new Fire Tv Remote app might work but I will miss the K400.

Yeah. I'm looking for it to use with HBOgo mostly. I'm guessing that the mouse is the important input to get that working.
It will be great if I can pair my Bluetooth mouse with Fire TV Stick.
This works well with the FireTV: http://eud.dx.com/product/ipazzport...google-tv-player-black-844230388#.VHTNJTSsVx0

Is that a bluetooth device? Or does it have a USB dongle? The Fire Stick doesn't have a free USB port.

USB dongle. I don't use the port for anything else so its fine for me.
Has anyone tried a USB hub on the Fire?

This is exactly what I am trying to figure out also, a Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad that will work with sideloaded apps like HBO GO or NFL Game Pass that are not compatible with the remote.
usb dongles work on firetv, not on firetv stick.... for now.
Would also like to know, sideloaded Settings.apk on mine to get to the stock android settings. Can detect Microsoft bluetooth mouse, Monoprice bluetooth headset and sound brick but none of them pair right. The two audio devices make a pairing sound. But don't play audio.
I sideloaded the settings.apk, and using it I'm able to successfully pair Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse. Both keyboard and mouse functionalities work just as if it was USB keyboard/mouse.

Yes, keyboard pairing works with both Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. I've sideloaded the settings apk and have successfully paired the AERB IBK-02 keyboard with trackpad/mouse to both devices. This keyboard has a trackpad, but it has limited functionality. Although scrolling is possible with two finger touch, you cannot click and drag. For this you'll need to pair up a Bluetooth mouse.
vg-kbd2000
I picked this up for my Samsung TV ( doesn't work with mine - no Bluetooth )
But, it works with my Sony GoogleTv and my FTV stick with settings apk side-loaded
the nice thing with this keyboard is that you can pair it with 3 different devices.
It has a selector button on the top to choose which one.
I haven't played with it very long and am trying to figure out what works and what doesn't
To use the touch-pad a switch on the bottom needs to be slid to "mouse mode"
I can't use the TV specific buttons on the right side of the keyboard. Wish i knew how to get them to work with the GoogleTv - it has an Ir blaster built in and will control volume, channel, etc
It will power my TV on and off - it has an Ir transmitter. But, that is all that does - strange
They are marked down to $39 at Best Buy and there are usually many open boxed ones to be had for less. Original price was about $100
But, they are mostly useless for the Samsung Tvs that they do work on - Most of apps do not support the keyboard or so I have read.
Wish the was some sort of unifying remote that I could connect to it and then plug into my TV though.
If you get one, the touchpad goes into a sleep mode after 30 seconds or so. I've read that hitting any button will wake it up. I didn't know that at first and was pairing it , unpairing it and powering it off.
If anyone else picks one of these up, Please post your findings

Hello
i tried to connect an Apple Magic Trackpad - i can find it and i can write the pin then im am stuck - it wont connect - how did you do it ?
Since the Fire TV stick has no usable USB port to speak of, we can't just plug in an IR dongle.
Some people have had success using HDMI-CEC and their TV remote control. However, my Olevia 232 TV doesn't seem to support the CEC protocol.
Has anyone had any luck using a PS3 remote? Has anyone tried using a Harmony PS3 adapter, or IR2BT bridge?
My thoughts were to build an Arduino device using BT shield setup to use the keyboard profile or Joystick profile; and couple that with an IR receiver.
I have successfully side loaded the settings.apk. I am able to pair a BT PC keyboard. I have seen reports that even some Samsung TV's don't support CEC protocol. So even if officially none of this works, I might be able to Pair one of the devices mentioned above with settings.apk.
Well, I had to side-load the settings.apk. In doing so, I could pair a bt keyboard and a bt media remote control by Satechi. Unfortunately, only PLAY/Pause and the home key do anything. But it's a star. The Forward and back buttons don't seem to work. However, I wonder, if they sent ff and rewind commands; if it would respond.
This gave me the idea to pair the Fire tv remote to my phone.
I was able to pair the Fire TV stick remote to my phone, and tested all of the key buttons .

I wonder if I rename a device to `Amazon Fire TV Remote` if it will accecpt paring in the normal Fire TV settings menu.
I just got a Firestick ordered directly from Amazon. Has OS 5.0.5. I bought a Microsoft 3600 Bluetooth mouse and it never shows up in 'available devices' on the firestick. I can connect the mouse to my Galaxy S5 and Tab 4, so I know the mouse works. I also tried the 'old' settings.apk method but it seems the new OS update makes this obsolete and the Settings app just crashes.
So is anyone using a mouse with their 5.0.5 Firesticks? If so, what brand/model?
Thanks.
I'm using a apple magic mouse with the aftv1 & 2 - should be the same with the stick, I think. Can test it next week when I'm at my parents if you like.

Or, what Bluetooth mouse has anyone successfully paired a Fire Stick?
Wow, 99 views and no replies. How sad. Maybe I shall try resetting the Fire Stick to factory and see what happens. Or I wonder if this would do better in Q&A? I didn't see that at first.
I have put different files (such a roms) on several friends and family's fire sticks (gen 1 and 2) and this mouse has always paired for me.

An alternative is to use the "Mouse Toggle" app, works really well.

I bought this bluetooth mouse / keyboard / trackpad from Amazon and it works fine but you will need to also use a mouse toggle app (loads of video tutorials on YT about this) to get full functionality.
I followed this video and it worked for me first time. Interestingly, the cursor popped up on screen before I'd even finished all the steps - no idea why or how, but delighted!
I have an expensive Logitech M720 multi-device bluetooth mouse I just purchased that won't pair with my 2nd generation firestick. Bummer.

I just bought this on your recommendation for my 2nd generation FireTV stick. I deeply regret buying the Logitech M720 bluetooth mouse due to its low, non-adjustable DPI and no FireTV stick support. What was I thinking? What a waste of money.
Thanks for your post.
I cannot to get the Sony DualShock 4 to work on the Fire TV Stick 4K. The pairing works but the Fire TV won't react to any input on the gamepad. The output from "logcat" repeatedly shows the following line until I disconnect the DualShock 4:
Code:
12-09 13:20:16.959 674 818 W bt_btif : bta_hh_co_data: Error: fd = 179, ready 0, len = 10
There are some reports of similar problems with the Galaxy S7 running on Android 7, which is the version that Amazon has used as base for their Fire OS. However, there seems to be no solution to fix the issue. There is probably not much that I can do except hoping that Amazon will fix the issue with an update. Did someone manage to get the DualShock 4 to work with the Fire TV Stick 4K?
Some additional information after testing DualShock 3 (CECHZC1U), DualShock 4 (CUH-ZCT1E) and DualShock 4 (CUH-ZCT2E): non of these gamepads can be used with the Fire TV Stick 4K.
CECHZC1U: unsupported Bluetooth protocol, root access would be required
CUH-ZCT1E: pairing works, gamepad not working (errors in "logcat" as shown above)
CUH-ZCT2E: pairing works, gampead works fine for about half a minute but starts to lag afterwards
All tested gamepads are working fine on my tablet with Lineage OS 14.1, therefore this is an Amazon issue, not a general Android issue.

Did you ever find a solution to this?
I am running a Poco but we have a similar problem. While I have a CUH-ZCT1E, I did actually get to work at some point but can't reproduce lol.
I use an 8Bitdo adapter. Works perfect. You just need an USB OTG-cable or any other way to get USB devices work with your Fire TV Stick.

Hi thanks for mentioning that .... can you confirm what device you using and what controller is it fire stick 4k ? and what the latency like is there a delay using gaming emulator like retro or happy chick
thanks so much in advance am waiting your confirm to buy it
You need the newer ps4 controllers. Both my old ones dont work. New ps4 controller model, for example the limited edition PS4 controller, the clear one works
I've got a CUH-ZCT2E Sony Dual Shock 4 controller and like OP posted it pairs Fire 4k UHD Stick, but it ends there - I can't seem to use it at all, not even initially.
@MrHomebrew How do why know a newer from older PS4 controller? How can I diagnose this in more detail?
Has there been any solution to this?
I've the exact same issue. The Dual Shock 4, bought today(CUH-ZCT2E) will connect and pair successfully to the Fire TV 4k but any input results in no effect and I have to use the remote to navigate.
I've the latest OS updated on the Fire TV 4k unit.
Also, reset PS4 controller prior to pairing, ran PS+Share prior to clicking pair on the fire tv etc. but no luck : (
Have also tried ES File Explorer trick to try and get it to connect, showed the Wireless controller when scanned with BT but could not connect, again reset PS4 controller prior to pairing attempt etc. etc.
If anyone has found a way to connect their PS4/DualShock 4 controller to the Fire TV 4k unit please any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: nevermind I just got tired of unsuccessfully trying numerous suggested solutions.... went ahead and bought an Xbox One controller instead. Works flawlessly on fire tv 4k.
