I have tried this and a couple of other methods of hiding root, and it continues to say the device is rooted.
Any suggestions?

I sent an email to the helpdesk, I'll wait for their answer.
Shouldn't this thread be on a different subforum as this is an issue common to all Android devices and not only the Galaxy Nexus?
I also get the RP006 error. Im using Galaxy S2 and my phone isnt rooted. Anyone knows what this means
"It" killed my Droid2 Global after 1st run got an error about rooted device and compromised security BS bla bla.... then reboot and stuck on red M I was happy to have my over cautious habit to take a nandroid backup every time when installing new apps.. Using the original Verizon GB .608 rooted de-bloated and cleaned by me.
Can anyone post the .apk? I can't even download it...
Hi Guys!
I have a Galaxy Note but hopefully it might work with the Nexus. I uninstalled superuser.apk and bingo! Pingit works fine. You will have to keep uninstalling it everytime you wanna run Pingit though! Hiding the app or renaming the apk file wasn't enough.
Uninstalling superuser apk is enough on its own, no need to hide root with Voodoo OTA RootKeeper.
Hope it helps!! Good luck!
EDIT: After setting up Pingit, running it with superuser installed will produce an error. Worse still it seems to reset Pingit's settings so after you uninstall superuser you would have to go through Pingit setup again. To avoid this, NEVER run Pingit with superuser installed! Good luck again!

This does not work for me. Superuser is uninstalled and the apk removed from my /system/app, but it still reports that the device is rooted in pingit.
Currently trying to find a way around it...

Yes. I even uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.
EDIT: By the way, I am using a Motorola Atrix runnning the latest CM7 weekly build from atrix-dev-team, if that makes any difference.
Can't you just use OTA RootKeeper and temporarily unroot? Or does that not work...?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have tried that.
I'm startihng to think it does something else besides simply looking for the superuser app and binaries, as everything I have done to get rid of these still brings up the root error.
Hi All,
Status:
I managed 1) root the phones 2) copy over the standard "carrier" folder via root explorer 3) recopy the apns-xml file. 4) edit via adb the build.prop file.
With all these I am able to make calls and receive texts on the phone. But for the life, I cannot figure out the data problem.
I double checked my .prop file and have for sure set them to spr.
So my questions is
1) any quick ideas I can try?
2) how can i tell if AT&T or I am the issue
3) is there a custom rom which I can flash and it just "works"
4) is there a good place online where I Can sell these phones aside from craigslist?

Thanks a lot for the reply. I followed your instructions. Since I was using stock 4.4.2, there was some minor adjustments that came up.
0) I flashed stock firmware and via phone notification update to 4.4.2
1) I rooted the phone
6) Done and Done
7) Done ( I also tried via adb shell )
8) I could not manually edit the build.prop file. Each time I did, it would cause a stall on reboot, never gets to boot screen. So I had to do this
via adb I set the settings to spr
9) I use radio checker to set the exact same settings
10) do I need this step for data?
Lol
Sorry. I re read your suggession. Didnt see it. Lemme give it a try.

settings.db file does not have settings
After using SQL and looking at the settings db file in, data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db, I cannot see the assist_dial or assist_dial_init_db_check fields.
Now I am only stuck where the phone crashes when I add an apn?

I've been going strong with 100% battery and had all relevant packages disabled with package disabler. Then boom, an update from ATT on 5/24.
Guess I'll try to ODIN back to stock. Anyone else get the update with packages disabled?

Hi
Recently I bought an A5 (2017) cell phone, but I'm facing terrible performance issues (lagging, delays, crashes and noise during sound playback).
Additionally I get the message that com.android.providers.downloads.ui is causing performance issues. (unfortunately I'm not allowed to post screenshots.)
Interestingly when I use the "Device Maintenance" in Setting and clean the RAM, the problem is gone. I tried to close the apps one by one to find out the one that is causing the problem, but I wasn't able to do so.
I tried freezing com.android.providers.downloads.ui by cmd appops set <package_name> RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore and the problem was solved, but when I wanted to use Play Store, it said that I had to enable Downloads app.
Any help would be appreciated.

I did wipe cache and it seemed to fix the problem but after a while the problem was back. I can't root my phone and there is no option for wiping dalvik in recovery mode.
About last option, does flashing stock ROM delete my apps and data? And where can I download stock ROM?

Flashing the ROM won't delete anything on your phone.Visit SamMobile and look for your model to get the correct ROM(Instructions can be found on the site)Also click thanks!?
You have been deleting things. This has caused the "com.android.providers.downloads.ui" error. Use Odin to flash your firmware to restore everything to normal. When you flash the firmware, choose home_csc to avoid deleting your data. Otherwise you will lose everything

I don't know how you got that I've been deleting things, maybe because of my bad English, but I haven't.
Actually, I started to disable (or freeze) the Download Manager after I received the "com.android.providers.downloads.ui" error many times.
I really prefer not to flash my phone, because it's really hard for me to install the apps again.
It will be great if you could suggest a way to overcome the problem without losing my apps or data.

Sorry....I see you are not rooted. That's fine.
Option 1....downgrade Google Play Services - locate in apps and uninstall updates. This will revert to an earlier or factory setting.
Test it and let me know

I mispunctuated my reply earlier. No big deal.
I was on the understanding that if the CSC is flashed as part of the main firmware installation everything goes however, if HOME_CSC is flashed, data remains.

There is no such option as "uninstall updates" in Google Place Services in app section. And the disable button is grayed out. I googled, and it seems I need to root my phone to be able to downgrade Google Play Services.

Hi. Sorry - just seen this.
Okay. In Apps section, tap the 3dots at the top right of the screen and select "Show system apps".
When loaded, scroll down to "Google Services Framework". Tap it. Tap Disable.
Reboot. Repeat process to then enable. Reboot. See what we have.
It's just a case of diagnostics now, if you want to avoid the flash route (we'll try and keep that as last resort - but you will not lose data using my method above)

It's driving me crazy!!!
When I disable MTP Host the battery draining and performance issues are gone, but of course some the other necessary features would be out of access too.
I was wondering if there is any way to update or replace MTP Host!?
Can someone help, I installed a custom rom and no matter which rom I install I have this app called Mein A1. I originally had no idea what it was because it's in German or something. After further investigation it looks like it has something to do with an Austrian mobile network. I have installed about 5 roms now and it always appears and it does not have the option to uninstall it but just disable. Normally titanium back up will remove anything and that can't even remove it because it says it is unable to find the APK. Please can someone help its driving me insane why it can't be removed.
Thanks
It sounds like you don't have full root abilities. Given that it is happening on all the roms you have flashed, it's likely you are using the addsu zip too root yes? You need to get the magisk 16.xx applicable flash able zip.
