Hi,
I cannot boot a friends t110. I only get the Samsung logo whatever I try to do.
This tab is not rooted, has default recovery that I cannot open. Have tried to boot with "volume up, home and power", "volume down, home and power", "volume down and power", "volume up and power" and "home and power", nothing works.
What is the problem? Battery seems to work since I charged it and got over 50% when I stopped charging. After a couple of tests again the battery was empty. Is there a chance that the battery is deffected?
Can I try to use Odin without getting to recovery?
What do you recommend? I have rooted several different phones, am using different custom androids on my and my family phones.
if you cannot boot into downlaod mode odin will not help. try to keep it plugged in and boot it into download mode

hello,
i have a brand new Koodo T989D.
I have Kies, samsung drivers and odin installed. I have rooted phones in the past but something is up with this one. It will not go into download mode. volume up+down with power key won't work, powered off volume up+down then connect via USB doesn't work, tried all combinations for t989D.. it seems strange. Odin does recognize the phone (it says connected), but the phone is ON and running OS (with debugging mode)....
everything else works fine though through kies etc.
Isn't it hold volume down and home key and power?

How to enter recovery/download with a Koodo T989D
I have the exact same phone as you from Koodo and have been able to access recovery/download mode on the phone via button combos straight out of the box.
For RECOVERY MODE the exact button combination for the Koodo T989D is:
Press and hold the "volume up + volume down" buttons, while holding the volume keys press and hold the "power button" until the phone vibrates/screen turns on to the Samsung logo and let go of 'only' the power button. The phone should then display the recovery system image and load to the recovery start up screen.
For DOWNLOAD MODE the exact button combination for the Koodo T989D is:
(As a precautionary, take out your battery and place it back in)
While phone is off, connect the USB to your phone making sure the USB cable is attached directly to a powered USB port (if on a desktop PC, the main USB ports on the motherboard I/O is the safest way to go). Now, press and hold 'only' the "volume down" button. While holding it, press the "power button" until you feel the phone vibrate/screen turn on and let go of 'only' the '"power button". Keep holding on to the "volume down" button until a "warning screen" appears. Once it displays, press the "volume up" button and you should now be in 'Download mode'
Hope that helps you are anyone else who was curious about getting in to recovery/download modes for our KOODO T989D. Good luck!
thank you all
interesting, got it to work after enabling debugging mode..
rooted and unlocked (thanks to owl74 method) but whenever I press power button and select reboot option, it freezes and the bottom buttons stay lighted.. i have to pull battery or long press power button.. it does shut down and power back on but reboot option makes it freeze:silly:
UPDATE: Phone won't turn off even when selecting power off option, it seems to say on with screen black and buttons lighted up.. have to resort to battery pulls

Is this happening with the stock Koodo ROM? Go in to your recovery and do a factoryreset/wipe data, also wipe your cache. Let us know if the issue still occurs.

Please go to this link and download the files under "Koodo T989D TLLG2". Once you finish downloading the files, follow the instructions in the OP on how to re-flash the stock Koodo ROM. That will definitely help you with the issue you are experiencing. Good luck!

Is there anything else i can do? please help i love this phone lol
Make sure you were actually in download mode when you flash with Odin. (power + volume down + home key. Then press volume up when it prompts you to go into download mode) otherwise, have you tried flashing a different custom rom? It might just be a bad kernel.

I had the same problem I can tell you my self that first MAKE SURE your doing the right steps to get back into download mode (btw if you can get back into download you can fix this with odin) don't bother trying to get into recovery soft brick is a soft brick... also it took me like 100 trys when mine bricked to get into download because I didn't follow directions.
here
for odin and download mode
(eg: for Odin)
Unplug the USB cable.
Shut down the phone.
Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.
To get out of Download Mode, simply press and hold the power button until the phone restarts
for recovery mode
Unplug the USB cable.
Shut down the phone.
Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME UP' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 5 seconds to enter Recovery Mode.

So dude, make sure you're using the right ROM for the right model. since you didn't provide any of that info in the OP you may not get much help from here.

Hi Everyone! I'm pretty new to Android stuff in general, and it looks like I soft-bricked my phone while trying to install a custom kernel.
Currently, my phone is running the latest beta of PA (pa_m8-4.6-BETA1-20140902).
I was trying to install custom kernel franco.kernel. Quick googling told me this is possible and the process was to boot into recovery (I'm using TWRP), make a backup, clear cache and dalvik cache, reboot into bootloader and then use fastboot to flash the new boot.img. Was this process correct, or was I already destined for failure?
After doing that whole process, the phone no longer boots properly. When powering on the phone, I see the initial HTC screen popup, and then the screen goes black. This stays this way forever unless I hold power + vol up, which will just restart the phone and the same thing happens. No other keys or key combinations do anything. Holding power or power + vol down does nothing. Holding power + both volume is the same as holding power + vol up. I have also tried holding the power button while holding the phone under a bright light; this has had no effect.
Unfortunately, I can't take a video of this behavior, however it appears this youtube video shows the same behavior:
CPCVecKSPAA (sorry can't post links because I'm new)
The only differences between my behavior and the youtube video are:
1. I am using AT&T instead of international version
2. At the initial screen, I see the red warning text.
Currently, my plan is to wait for the battery to die and then plug it in and try to boot into recovery with power + vol down. Does anyone know anything else worth trying?
Thanks !
Just refresh the rom... That will restore the PA kernel.
I was able to get my phone into bootloader via the following:
1. Plug phone into PC.
2. Press power + vol up + vol down.
3. As soon as charge LED turns off, release vol up.
Once I was in bootloader, I got my phone working by going into recovery and then restoring my backup.

First off, I'll openly admit I'm an idiot and missed the bit about needing to update the bootloader on my T800 and now my tablet won't do anything other than sit at the Samsung boot screen.
I've tried doing the power button + volume down + home button key sequence but it just reboots. Same thing about switching to volume up after it goes dark. I'm not sure if I just haven't gotten the sequence down properly or if it's just a lost cause at this point. Does anyone have any suggestions?
If you've held the power button, vol down and home button simultaneusly the device should boot to download mode. At that point you would select volume up to enter the mode. Are you sure you are holding these long enough and that the device is not plugged in?
If you are on a 7.x.x. rom then you may be having the same problem as me. If you came from the Samsung 6.0.1 rom then you already have the right boot loader.
Plug in charger and then power button all you need to do is stop the boot loop so you can get it in to the mode you need......

Thanks, stinka318. Right now, it's stuck in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S boot screen and will sit there until the battery runs out. Are you saying plug it into power right now and hit the power button or do I need to let the battery completely die then plug it back in so it's powered off to start with?
Thanks for the help!

If I hold the power button, vol down and home button down simultaneously, it will reboot the device but then go back to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S boot screen. I've tried holding that down until my fingers go numb (how long have you had to hold it down for?). I've also tried letting go of the vol down and moving it to vol up once the screen goes black then releasing the power button when the Samsung screen comes up but that doesn't do anything either. Everything that I've ever tried just ends up showing the Samsung screen. So frustrating!
Thanks for the help!

Yep plug it in now and hit the power button it will show the battery charging icon from that you should be able to do thing you need to recover it.
boot into download mode (was mentioned how to do it on this thread already), go to ODIN, flash the bootloader, boot into twrp, wipe everything (to be safe), and flash your desired rom
I wanted to root my Note10+.
It is a Note10+ SM-N975F. It is not locked to any carrier.
I enabled dev options, unlocked OEM, booted into download mode, and unlocked the bootloader. This was apparently successful.
I then tried to use Odin to flash stock rom. Odin fails at "system.img". I tried to flash with Chimera Tool. Chimera also fails at "system.img". I tried different stock roms (older versions etc.), the error perists. I tried on a different computer, the error persists.
So I decided to flash a patched TWRP, then I was gonna flash ROM throught TWRP.
I flashed TWRP and that leads me to now. My phone is effectively dead:
If I plug it in or turn it on, it boots to the "Samsung Galaxy Note10+" screen, it will tell me to press power to confirm that I understand that the phone's security has been bypassed/non-official software is installed. Then it will hang forever on the "Samsung Galaxy Note10+" screen.
There doesn't seem to be anyway to turn it off other than letting the battery drain, but even with the battery drained, if I plug it in, it will just boot to the "Samsung Galaxy Note10+" screen.
If I hold power + volume down, it will reset back into the "Samsung Galaxy Note10+" screen.
Whether it's on or off, power + volume up appears to do nothing
Any ideas? If I can get into download/recovery mode it should be fixable... But I can't even get there at this point!
Try different Odin.
Holding the power button for more than 10 seconds should always shut down.
Im happy to help if you are struggling?
Had the same bootloop symptoms, fixed!
i had the same bootloop when trying to update to beta android 10, let your phone drain completely, hold volume up and down at the same time, connect a usb cable and it should turn on to a download mode screen, flash latest rom (BL+AP+CSC+CP) and you re all set
Yep - solved in line with the above:
I let it it drain, then held vol up and down and plugged into computer - got into download mode recognised by Odin!
