How is the vibration on the moto 360 2nd gen? - Moto 360

Hi all,
I want to get a Moto 360 mainly for notifications and silent alarm so the vibration strength is very important. Can anyone tell me how strong it is? Can you always feel it? In comparison I have found the Apple Watch vibration to be weak but sufficient. The FitBit Charge vibration was very strong and a little too much in my opinion. Finally I also tried the Garmin Vivosmart which had the perfect level of vibration in my opinion. I would never miss it and it didn't feel like someone shaking my arm off.
Thanks.

The 360 2gen vibration is weak and barely sufficient. There are several vibration apps that allow you to customize the vibration. They don't allow you to "strengthen" it, but they allow you to change it to a morse code type alert. You can have three long vibes or two short or a short long short vibration. Does that make sense? I changed mine to three long vibes and it's VERY noticeable.

Thanks, what app do you use to modify the vibration?

He's probably referring to 'Feel The Wear' (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sk.martinflorek.wear.feelthewear).
I have the 42mm 2nd Gen and find the vibration perfectly acceptable. I had that app on my wishlist, but haven't felt the need to use it yet. I use the Hourly Chime app to give a very short 'blip blip' vibration every hour, and never miss it. I have the leather strap version and wear the watch pretty tight.
By the way, the forum for the 2nd Gen Moto 360 is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360-2015

I had the Garmin Vivosmart, and now have the moto 360 2nd gen (46mm). The difference is big.
On the moto 360 is so weak that most of the time it do not get my attention.
I will also try an app to adjust the vibration pattern.

I tried feel the wear and it did not help in my case. I have since switched to the Gear S2 where the vibrations are better but still not as strong as the vivosmart.

My job is woodworking so I use a lot of power tools and sanders where there is high vibration levels, I find the 360 2nd gen vibration fine

[Q] Vibrate is weak?

Hi Guys,
This may be because I'm coming for a Blackberry but my Nexus's vibrate function feels WAY too light. I'll have the phone sitting on a pad of paper on my desk and the only way I know I have a notification is if I happen to glance over at the phone and the LED is blinking.
Has this been anyone else's experience? Is there an app (similar to Volume+) that would help increase the vibrate function's strength?
Thanks!

You, probably, have forgotten to turn on the vibration-notification in sms settings.
I even get frightened because of a phone, when there is a new text message and my phone is on the desk near me
I have vibrate in the Messenger app set to "Always".

I can double confirm this. The vibration is so powerful that it also makes a loud noise at the same time. So this is definitely not a generic phone problem. Maybe your specific model ? Try to get another one.
does an app exist that will boost the vibrate function so that I can give it a try

I didn't think the vibration was weak on the GN until earlier today when I decided to install ICS on my trusty HD2 to see how it handled it. The vibration on my HD2 feels about 3 times more powerful than the GN so some people might see it as weak.
Thank you. I don't think its a phone defect, I'd really like to see some way to increase the intensity.

I need to decrease vibration intensity because I I get frightened anytime the phone is on my wooden desk and vibrates! Any app out there?

My Galaxy Nexus's vibrate is INCREDIBLY weak. Barely audible at all when on a desk, and basically impossible to feel vibrate when it's in my pocket. At first I thought it was my silicone case, but even after taking it out of the case it's barely any better.
There are actually people who believe the vibrate is powerful? I wonder if I should get mine checked out.

I have a feeling that they're being hyperbolicly defensive. Quite a few reviews have mentioned this as an issue, along with quiet notification sounds.
If you're in a silent room with your phone on your desk, of course you'll feel that the vibration is strong. But just get out of the house and into a loud place, like a mall. I missed two calls and an SMS the first time I went out with my GN even though vibrate AND sound were on.
Sorry to bump an old-ish thread, but still no one has offered any solutions. Is it possible or not to increase the vibration intensity?
Yeah, I fail to see how anyone can think the vibrate on this phone is strong. I set my D2G next to the phone and it got an email I can hear the vibrate in the other room. Next when the SGN got a vibrate I barely heard it 2 feet away in my chair. Either I have a defective model or this phones vibrate is insanely weak.
Bump for revisiting this...
I'm considering the GNexus, but vibration strength is a big issue for me. I keep my phone on silent with vibration at work and out in general, because I personally consider it more considerate to others.
I'm not concerned with vibration when it's sitting in my desk, but I'm definitely concerned when it's in my pocket. In fact, I returned the RAZR because I literally missed every call and SMS that came in because the vibration was so week.
Can anyone compare this to the SGS2's vibration, which I thought was strong, and I could feel it when in my pocket. Same thing with the iPhone when I had that -- I thought the vibration was very strong.
I know it sounds like a weird deal-breaker, but if I'm missing calls/SMS, it defeats the main purpose of the phone, you know?
I turn off all default and use light flow. The vibrate time can be customized. I hate to 2 little buzz vibrates. I have it set for a continuous time of 3 seconds.

I would consider the vibration strength as low/decent. I came from a Motorola XT720 which had a much stronger vibration.
I've never used a SGS2 or RAZR so I can't really comment. I've used friend's iPhones briefly but would say the iPhone has a stronger vibrate.
For what it's worth I can usually feel the vibration of texts and calls when the phone is in my pocket.
I don't really care, but the vibrate function on my SGN is absolutely anemic. It's the weakest I've ever had in any smartphone, to the point where I just turn it off because it's so unnoticeable.
Hello guys
Is there any method to get GN vibrate when pocket? Obviously it should be in dependence of proximity sensor, but I cannot set it up, as lets say HTC Sensation does.
Thanks and ciao
Majjjjo
I having the same sota problem with my sensation
I just thought of this and I have no idea if it would work but would it be possable to ad a little more unevenness to the pager motor to make it vibrate more, not Evan sure if u can get access to the little buzzer but as I said its just an idea

this made me think. i think there's an "option" to change vibrate strenght in the source....

Was it worth the switch?

I am currently using the SW2 and I love it. I ordered the SWR50 from Google Play today and now I wait. In the mean time, I want to know if anyone else upgraded from the SW2 and what are your thoughts?
I also upgraded from the SW2 to SW3 a couple of weeks ago - and yes, it was worth it!
Android wear is just way easier to handle, you need fewer clicks to actually see out get done what you want to do. And the UI is just so much prettier!
Also, having Google Now right at your wrist is just awesome. You'll have to get used to weirdly talking in a quiet tone to your own hand, but once you don't have problems with that anymore it's really convenient
Also, the screen is much more fun to look at and the whole device seems higher quality.
But there are also some things which I miss:
Hardware wise, the battery performance is not half as good as with the SW2.
The vibration motor is way weaker! Sometimes, e.g. when I'm on a bike, I don't even notice it.
The stock apps are pretty poor - where the SW2 had an awesome alarm clock, timer, dialer and so on, Android Wear is pretty weak. Yes, there are already more apps on the market than there ever were for the SW2, but many of them could need a decent face-lift.
There is no active call screen on the watch when you're on the phone. I often use a headset and really enjoyed being able to hang up our see how long I've been on the phone right on my wrist. These times are over. For now.
You cannot turn off the tap-to-switch-on-feature. While this is convenient during the regular day, when doing sport or especially when you're in bed, this is really annoying. Your watch keeps switching on and weird things happen - just like back in the day when phones had no key lock.
I hope, some of these things will be fixed as the platform gets more mature. But with others, you'll probably have to live.
I'd be interested what you think of your new piece of jewellery once it arrives and how others see their switch!

SmartWatch 3 vs LG G Watch R

I can't decide between the two. For some unknown reason, it's proving difficult to find a comprehensive list of features for either watch, so I'm asking you guys. I'm not into fitness, so apps aimed at that are of no interest to me. I'd like the feature of being able to answer (and possibly make) calls from the watch using my earphones. What do you love and hate about these? What are the pros & cons of each model?
TIA
USB micro charger on the SWR50 LGR has dodgy cradle thing.
Transflective Screen on SWR50 means easy easy viewability in the bright sunlight, at low power usage.
(5.1.1 bug aside) Better battery life.
Always on screen from LG emits light = not nice at night, even with theater mode.
Sony has Wifi, GPS and NFC onboard and working.
I have small wrists, which make the Sony better for my wrist.
I have tried the LG for a few days, but like the SW3 better.

Well, for now, you still can't answer or make calls without having to still pull out your phone to talk. (Someone correct me if there is an app). Like someone else has posted, I have small wrists and the SW3 suits me fine. I have an Asus Zenwatch but it lacks WiFi and GPS, which I use a lot. You can beat the TFT screen if your out of doors a lot. Just my 2 cents worth.

I've seen an app in the play store specifically for the Sony that allows outgoing calls and says it's "in addition" to the incoming calls feature, so this was leaning me in the Sony direction anyway. After hearing all the thoughts, I think I'll go with that.
Thanks guys :good:
The one thing is, there is no speaker afaik, so, to make a call on the sw3, I think you need a bluetooth setup of some kind.

It should, it works that way for music (as in control the phone's music app from your watch)

Moto 360 after several months of use, my findings

So I've had my Moto 360 for about 4 months or so now and wanted to just say a bit about my experiences with it.
The battery life for me at first was a bit of a problem and it was touch and go if I could go a full day. I don't know if this is because I was fiddling with it so much or if later versions of android wear optimised the battery better, but now I could probably go a couple of days without charging.
I find the standard launcher on android wear quite cumbersome and pants. I've since installed Android Mini Wear which is infinitely better. Unfortunately this doesn't replace the stock launcher but works side by side to it, so you can sometimes end up swiping one way and launching Mini Wear and then swiping the other way and getting the stock launcher, then you have to close both to get back to the main watch screen, bit of a pain. But the devs for Mini Wear say they are working on a way you'll be able to press a small button that shows up on the watch face to launch the full Mini Wear app draw (they currently have this feature but it launches a cut down version of Mini Wear).
A few things I'd love to be able to do with android wear is be able to adjust the timeout screen duration, sometimes it flicks off before I can do what I need to. Also being able to adjust vibrate duration wouldnt go a miss either.
Lastly I've started getting a pain in my wrist, I'm hoping this is unrelated to my watch but I'd be interested to know if any other users get it? Maybe the heart rate monitor constantly reading my pulse could be causing this? Shame you can't stop this from happening as well.
To adjust screen timeout duration try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phonephreak.extendedlight
And I use my watch now for 2 Month and don't have any pain in the wrist
I see some people wear a watch very tight, I myself a personal preference always wear it abit loose like jewelry or a bracelet, I've worn Swatch's for years so maybe I'm just use to it. Never pain.
Sent from my LG-VS980
I've been wearing it since the week it came out. No pains in my wrist from it. I wore it tight with the leather band, and just tight enough that I can't fit my pinky with the metal band. My back is cracked and the plastic pieces that adapt the metal band in are broken and missing pieces, but the screen is pristine after a year, the battery still lasts a whole day, and it's never felt sluggish to me. I don't use a launcher - I don't see the need for one. I pretty much don't use apps - unless it's a card, the face switcher or stopwatch/timer I don't use it.
I love my 360. The 360 V2 is a slight incremental upgrade really offering nothing over the 360 except a much better placement of the crown and the band lugs. I won't be giving up my original 360 for a while.
Though I know my next watch WILL be a Moto watch, because nobody else does wireless charging and I refuse to give it up.

Best review quote of the day. Bravo! hah.
When I first got my 360 the battery life sucked. For an unrelated issue I had to reset the watch, and decided to click "No" to the Google Fit permissions during setup. This has drastically improved my battery life. I'll easily get to the end of the day with more than 50% battery, and that's taking the watch off the charging cradle at 6:40am. So, pretty good! And, the funny thing is, it's the Moto Fit app that's checking your heart rate in the background, not the Google Fit app. So, even with Moto Fit firing up the heart rate sensor all day the battery life is still awesome. Seems like some poor optimisation of the Google Fit app to me. And, on that note, I haven't noticed any pain in my wrist at all and I've been wearing it every day for about two months now. Maybe its an RSI from playing with the watch too much hah

Heyo! Looking to get into the smartwatch market this holiday and I figured a $99 moto 360 (if I can find them in stock) would be a nice way to do that. So, is this still a good buy in 2015? I have read the OMAP processor is slow and ancient but, does it get the job done on this watch?

I also have this doubt.
I'll be honest, I got the first gen 360 a few weeks ago because of a credit from Sprint and really wish I would've just put a few more dollars with it and got the Huawei watch.
For $99 you can't really go wrong. Yeah the processor might be a bit long in the tooth, but I don't really have any issues with mine. Plus the 2nd Gen costs loads more and doesn't really add any new functionality apart from looks.
I just find having mine really convenient, with my job I can't be looking at my phone all the time, so its perfect for me. I also find the ability to control music on my phone with my watch very handy when commuting. I'm now about to purchase a set of bluetooth headphones so I can listen to music stored on my watch. I'm in the minority who actually use Google Fit (I charge my phone every night but usually have around 40%-50% of battery left). Its just had strength training incorporated into it, so it can count how many sit ups, press ups or squats your doing, which is useful.
Even better now with the 6.0.1 update! Great value.

Want to get a new watch. Any opinions? Moto 360 3rd gen, FOSSIL Gen 5 or a Samsung.

I'm moving on from the disaster of my Moto 360 2nd Gen. That watch died in about 3 different ways at the same time. I'm a little cautious to invest in a new one and I'm looking for some opinions. I've been researching my options and I think I've narrowed it down https://9apps.ooo/ to these 3. I loved the look of the Moto 360 2 and will be using it for everyday notifications, workout tracking, music and navigation control and sleep tracking. I don't mind 2 quick charges a day. Any advice welcome!
I had the first Moto 360 before buying Watch4 Classic 46mm on January. I can't say I don't like it but indeed it's so much different and generally speakingoto 360 look nicer to me.
Anyway my battery can last 2 days but not a lot of notifications, brief calls directly on the watch, AOD. But when the GPS is enabled the drain is faster (and there's no way to use the phone GPS as an option, which I don't understand).
I would consider that newest fossil and moo 360 3rd still don't have Wear OS 3, if I'm not mistaken
