Thanks for your answer. But I didn't find v7.7, I only found v6. It's the lastest one and I don't know which is the best (I mean the long battery life and run smooth). Are you telling about v7.7 on android kitkat, aren't you ?

+1 for 7.7

Can you show me the link to download, buddy ? I can't find v7.7

U have to have the Echoe Creations App to get it...

You can get it at the echoerom website. It first gets released on the echoe app then publicly later on the website. Highly recommend getting the app though and support development. 7.8 was just released

For me 7.7 sucked my battery down.even while plugged in car charger streaming. 7.8 doesnt. Again what i experienced.
Sent from my 0x1 Note 4...... I love tep

+1 for 7.8. Buy the app. Support the developer.

does this kernel have the zerolemon battery fix in it?

Staying with the kernel topic. Does anyone know if any of the AEL kernels support OJ6? I'm currently running @tx_dbs_tx stock rooted OJ6 rom. Thanks..
And I do have the AEL app.

Battery life for me was average, but I also had a ton of apps and crap on my phone too. If kept minimal with greenify it was decent. Personally I felt earlier versions held better battery life. As far as their forums go I was able to access it through Tapatalk.

You can also vary a number of settings including governors with Synapse that will increase battery life, increase speed an responsiveness at the expense of battery life, etc., etc., You can get it to behave just about any way you want. Last time I messed with it, I was getting phenomenal battery life. I just recently went back to non-rooted stock to take the OK1 update. I'll re-root and re-install AEL again when I get around to it.

[Q] Thinking about Rooting

Hello XDA community!
After doing lots of reading about rooting and installing ROMs, I have a few questions:
1. By rooting your phone, or installing a new ROM, does it touch upon/delete the storage and installed apps, or does it leave those alone? (Like a "repair" installation of Windows)
2. If needed, will the use of Ti Backup to reinstall my storage/apps affect the outcome of the root?
Lastly, I was wondering about which method would be the most simple. I know this is a very subjective question, and there will be lots of opinions, but what I'm mainly looking for is a stable 2.3.6+ with the newest wifi modem capabilities, and CIQ removed.
Thanks much,
Haz
Rooting does not affect apps. A custom rom however does as most of the bloatware will most likely be removed.
Whitehawkx just released his updated rom Juggernaut to the latest build. I would go that route if your looking for a good rom.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Ok, so rooting doesn't affect apps. Does it affect any local/USB storage?
The Juggernaut "4.0" looks promising, but my only concern is that there is no mention of whether CIQ is removed or not.
Rooting doesn't effect storage either and I am sure ciq is disabled in that rom.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Hmm, nothing specific in the changelog regarding CIQ...
Out of curiosity, which setup are you using?
Sent from my SGH-T989
It does not mention CIQ because CIQ is disabled in the Kernel, and the ROM uses THIS kernel , which has CIQ removed ...
If your rooted you can use clockwork to do a full system backup before you do anything.
Titanium can backup the app data. You may have to download the apps again. Not a big deal.....
Any ROM you flash follow the instructions to the letter on how to flash.
Good Luck
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
There are countless Youtube videos walking you through the entire process. It's not as difficult as you may think and after awhile you won't give it a second thought to flash a new ROM or Kernel. It is not without risk however but if you mess something up there are instructions for that too and help when needed. Watch a few videos and when you're comfortable, give it a try.
I'm new to Android and I have to say that as long as you do your research and follow instructions you won't have a problem. I'm running the new juggernaut. Wifi calling is working quite well. Remember to flash the new modem
Sent from my SGH-T989 Juggernaut v4
First of all, yes you should root! You'll love your phone twice as much. Not to diss any guides here but the video on this page made me most comfortable to root mine.
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-t-mobile-galaxy-s2-sgh-t989/
Just don't download roms from there they are out dated lol
Thanks everyone, I'll do some more research.
I think I'll test out Juggernaut soon!
Sent from my SGH-T989
My wife gave me mine on Friday night (late anniversary from Tues/early Christmas), I rooted it and flashed Juggernaut 4.0 this morning (while she was still sleep so I wouldn't hear any complaints, lol). No need for fear if you do your research and diligently follow the steps.
How's the battery life on juggernaut?
I noticed it overclocks the phone, which will most likely affect it.
>>Sent from my Samsung T989
So i'm deciding to use a route that is as stock 2.3.6 as possible, plus wifi, minus CIQ. Mr. X's looks promising.
Regarding the modem, how do I know if mine is already up to date? My phone is already updated to TMO's 2.3.6 OTA update

I'm using juggernaut and I like it. The power widget in the notification bar is much better then the stock one.
It's overclocked by default but you can turn it down. With juggernaut, you can download "fauxclock" and underclock the max. A suggestion I'd like to make is use that same app and undervolt it by -25 mV. Undervolting will prolong your battery life even more.

Question:
In the Odin3-v.185 download in Allgamer's How To Root sticky, I noticed there is a UVKID.tar
Will this be an issue since my phone already has UVKL1?

All you should need is the recovery tar, and the superuser zip to use in CWM after you install the recovery ... You will flash your new rom from CWM

stock kernel has a very good battery backup.
but if you want the best out of gaming and battery, then i would suggest try faux 10b5.
Its still in beta but I have faced no glitches with the rom/kernel.
My current stats after first cycle is 25hrs standby time with more than 4hrs of screen time.

I was asking OP, because he/she is hesitating. Perhaps the problem OP is having can be resolved without rooting.
@fredfb : Rooting CAN hurt, because rooting requires you to unlock the bootloader, (and if you haven't already read or heard) that can void your warranty !!
P.S: I'm already running a custom ROM, have tried couple of AOSP JB ROMs, but battery life and lack of a decent camera forced me to come back to Sense, now I'm on Viper X, I like the quick settings and the ability to customize various other things, but I can certainly live without them. And I assume many others can too.. So why risk loosing warranty if there is no benefit ??
I always have this urge to get the newest of things. But maybe there are not that many new features. Is battery life that bad in custom roms? I get almost two days of battery life with moderate use.

New to the club

So I am going to be leaving the HTC Sensation 4G, and considering the GS4 is going to be pretty much like the GS3 (and GS3 are getting GS4 updates) I went ahead and ordered mine just now! Should be shipping sometime this week!
So.. I was running CM10.1 AOSP 4.2.2 Jellybean Kang on my Sensation, I am currently browsing all the Roms available now, what do you all suggest which Rom would be awesome and why? I am all about Battery and Multitasking.
It really depends mate. Thing is if I had wanted vanilla android or aokp I would've bought the nexus device but I chose S3 because of all the extra TouchWiz features as well. I'm running latest version of MIUI and it works perfectly but I know sooner or later I'll go back to using stock based rom. I would suggest sticking with Sammy based roms from the likes of Omega roms and Android Revolution HD, especially if you want some of the features from the S4.
Also reason I suggest the 2 roms above is because they are constantly updated and have active support from the community.

Alright cool cool, would be nice if I had someone to help me root it also once I receive the phone.
edit looked up rooting methods they are MAD EASY WOW!
TW is overrated and looks like a ridiculous cartoon IMO, and all the S-whatever features are just gimmicks right now, though some people love it.
If you loved CM 10.1, its on our phones only official right now the nightlies are a little unstable since the upgrade to the 3.4 Linux kernel but they are working the bugs out. 10.1 M2 will be most stable. No learning curve that way
Battery life is unbelievable with Ktoonsez kernel. 3/14 version works with M2. Take a look at the thread, its got some good info on the governor, I/O scheduler, undervolt, and other settings.
And with our phones, the 2GB ram and fast CPU, its no problem for multitasking. I even ran my phone at 1.02Ghz and it still responded just fine with all sorts of stuff open.
I agree I dislike Touch Wiz I loved CyanogenMod since his G1 days lol, so I think I may take a look at that. Although This Smooth Liquid looks pretty interesting.
I like the PAC-Man ROM and using the Ktoonsez kernel he released today.
Look into sons of android ROM too. Insane battery life.

I started with CWM, but after switching to TWRP I wouldn't go back.
I used the Root66 method to root the phone - and have used it show a friend how to root their phone and used it to return to stock rooted and get the latest update. Never had an issue, I think it's pretty easy.
I used Wicked for a bit and might go back - I am just a noob and have to work out some issues I had in transferring things over first.
Not sure about screen protectors - mine had one on it when I bought it on eBay and it was so good I've just left it. I just have a $3 TPU and silicone bumper on it and a skin - protects from scratches at least. I've dropped it once or twice with no issue, too.
Is the Root66 method for T-Mobile? I only see three rooting methods and those are by MrRobinson, Chainfire, and mskip here http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-xda-developer-tv/

I just installed the Note 5 M-O-A-R rom using this method.
It seems like a lot of the dev's aren't doing much with the S6 Edge+. I loved the MOAR Rom on my S5..wishing it was available on this one. I may have to try the Note 5 patch and see if that is worthwhile.
