KF2 keeps booting into TWRP. - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all. I got CM11 installed on my kindle (finally). I installed 'SuperSU' from the Play store and it prompted me to install something. It rebooted into TWRP and I cannot get it out. I've done every single wipe, reset, or erase available in TWRP. I've reinstalled CM11 multiple times, without any effect.

Kindle Books/Docs not showing up.

I've browsed through the threads and seen hints of people having this problem, and I wanted to make a thread around it. The problem being that Documents and/or Books not being seen on Cloud/Device.
I bought my KF for reading purposes, full functional Tablet second. So this is rather frustrating.
Some posts have hinted that this may be rom specific. But I haven't flashed any roms. Only rooted with SU.
I did wipe and re-root with SU, and my books/docs came back for 2 days but now they're gone again.
I've seen others have this problem. Is there a fix?
- D
this only happened to me when i mistakenly turned on "Update Automatically" in Google Play/Market and it auto-updated the kindle app to the one for normal android devices. once i uninstalled this update, (and turned off auto-update), everything went back to normal.
I'm not sure about the stock ROM, but any other ROM has a kindle directory on the sdcard. Might wanna check if your books are missing from that directory.
i.e. sdcard/kindle/

I am having a similar issue.
The problem is that, even tho the Docs are showing up at the Amazon Launcher, once i click on them, nothing happens. Not even downloading them works.
What is going on here ?
[EDIT 1] The only way i can see them, is to use the "kindle" app that is on my app drawer.
With this app i can download the documents and open them, but not when i'm on the "Amazon Launcher"

That worked for to get things started, I then de-registered and registered. That brought everything back. Bottom line, I guess, don't let market update the kindle app.

Hi All,
System info: KFU 0.9.6; Kindle Fire 1st gen, OS 6.3.1; Google Play -> Auto-update apps -> not checked
I successfully rooted my device and my books and docs are showing up in my Kindle (using Launcher) but they do not open. When I try to open them, all I get is the the orange color kindle logo. The device just hangs there. It is registered with my kindle device e-mail recognized.
When I try to open the Kindle app after selecting the Go Launcher EX, the app tells me that the device isn't registered. Would appreciate any advice on how to be able to open books and docs in Kindle and Android environments (if I'm saying that right). Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry, but when I open Google Play I only have the option "open" available on the kindle app...
I deselected the automatic update but I'm still unable to reinstall the original kindle app and see the books.

Rooting Kindle Fire v6.3 guide from a noob...

I had a lot of trouble rooting the Kindle fire and had to read a lot of threads on this site to figure things out; so I figured I would share the experience I had, maybe someone else who is new can benefit from my experience.
First I downloaded and used Kindle Fire Utility version 0.9.5 (KFU 0.9.5):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
I plugged in the Kindle fire and selected "Install Permanent Root with Superuser". It went through everything and told me that root was successful.
Then I tried to select "Install GoogleApps/Market/GoLauncherEX". The GoLauncher installed correctly but everything else failed to install.
I side installed youtube and several google apps successfully.
Unfortunately Android market would not install, and I could not login into any of the Google apps, I kept getting an error message.
At this point I tried to play Prime Instant Videos and realized you can not play these on a rooted Kindle.
I was rooting just for fun and was not really ready to loose the Amazon Prime Instant videos. So I decided to reset my Kindle fire to Factory Defaults.
WARNING: DO NOT RESET your Kindle fire to Factory Defaults, it can Brick your Kindle fire!!!! While experienced users may know how to recover from this, for new users be very careful!!! Do not do this!
I will make a long story short and say luckily I failed to do this due to my incompetence and got lucky.
So I had a working rooted unit that blocked the use Amazon Prime Videos, but I could not install Android Market, or figure out how to unroot.
I tried to install the following apps manually by sideloading them: Android Market, Root explorer, and Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper (so I could unroot it).
I failed to load Android market. Root explorer and Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper acted like I did not have root access. But Amazon Instant Prime was still not working.
After a lot of reading the threads I found out that KFU 0.9.5 has a bug and does not install superuser on some peoples Kindle Fires and thus only partially roots it. I found superuser.apk and sideloaded it, and installed it. This worked!
Suddenly when I started RootExplorer it asked me if I wanted to grant the app root access. Well Yes! I was now able to manually install Android Market. Please follow all the directions in detail! Even small details that seem not so important are actually very important, and must be followed to install Android market successfully. It took about three tries before I figured this out and installed Android Market.
I had to run Android market (let it load for extended periods) and reboot about 4 times before it finished updating to Google play and seemed to be working properly.
I was then able to unroot using Voodoo OTA rootkeeper (temporary unroot).
Now I have a Kindle Fire that works like the original, with all the Amazon services. It has Google Market, so I can install Google Apps. Most importantly it has Youtube app and Google+. This is all I ever wanted so I am happy.
I hope this helps. So here is the most important lesson learned. KFU 0.9.5 sometimes does not install superuser, so side load it, and do not reset your kindle fire to factory defaults once it is rooted.
Thanks for all the posts on xda-developers for helping me.
Interesting, but a good read. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I just got my KF yesterday... it too was 6.3. Running KFU under Windows 7, I had no real issues, after some massaging I was able to get it to recognize the device, gain root, and install TWRP. Once I had my recovery, I backed up the device, wiped, then installed Reloaded ICS. Here's where it got tricky... after install, the device was stuck in recovery boot mode, so it wouldn't get out of that loop... further, KFU was showing that the USB connection wasn't there, but after looking into it, I found a thread saying that in some cases even in that state, the bootloader can be changed, so I changed it and it worked!
Now I have my KF running Reloaded ICS with TWRP recovery... soooo nice.
Again, thanks for sharing your experiences!

edit: just in case, I have it rooted with superuser and then install the go launcher/market....but only installed go launcher.
Rooting 6.3
I had difficulty installing anything to system/apps (permission denied) even when using KFU. I could mount the system read/write but still could not install Google Market to system/apps. I finally gave up and flashed EnergyROM 4-29-2012 and Kernel 3.0#8. Everything is working fine now and I don't care about Amazon Prime - I can get that on my laptop, or my DVD player.

Listen (read), very carefully. If you would take a few minutes out of your precious little schedule and read the information from the link that was given to you, then you would be able to discern on your own, why your device is acting the way it is, AND how to fix it.
IF you read the information from the link I gave you, and understand why your device is acting this way AND have taken the necessary steps to fix the problem and are still unable to fix it, THEN I'll be more willing to help.
I see no point in rehashing topics that have already been covered in detail if you're not willing to meet me halfway.
Listen to what Soupmagnet has to say. All your question's will be answered in the links he provided. And if you still have issues, then post again after reading the links. Soupmagnet won't ever steer you wrong. But from past experience with him, he is much more willing to help if you read the posted links first.
I also used KFU 0.9.5 on my Stock 6.3.1 KF. It is very straight forward, if you follow the instruction's to the letter. The only bit I can add that was not in the OP here is, be sure you make a backup via recovery before you move on to a ROM flash. I chose CWM and not TWRP ( personal reason's ) and CWM works fine for me. The only issue I had was the same issue that 50% of the KFU people trying to root/fff/TWRP or CWM a 6.3.x via KFU 0.9.5 is the part were it wont see your kindle after you ran the #2 option (Perm Root device...) if it KFU hangs saying it can't see your device, just kill KFU then goto Device manager and del the device (Kindle fire or ADB component....) unplug your Kindle .... replug your Kindle and reinstall your drivers again. Start up KFU and move on to the next option (it should see your device now) ( you could run adb devices also to be sure it is recognized ) if not ... Do it again. It will work.
Soupmagnet please let me know if any of my advice is bad advice.... but it worked for me.
Cheers
PS... Just got my Kindle Fire Factory cable. I have no relation to the guy that makes them ... but you really should have one for future use / recovery / bricks. Just my 2 cents.
Burrito Root 3
I don't need anyone rehashing anything for me. I spend PLENTY of time figuring out how to root my Kindle by reading a ton of forums. I tried to do something the other day.... I don't even remember now I'm so frustrated and it didn't work.
I went into Root Explorer and I couldn't change permissions on anything. When I tap the "root" folder it says that it is not rooted. I originally rooted it with BurritoRoot3. I went to the device and noticed that it is v6.3.1. I am assuming that broke my root.
I see plenty of instructions on rooting this version. I am wondering how to reroot from the point where I am already at or if I have to start all over. If you can just point me in the right direction that would be great.

First off, do you still have FFF? Recovery? Did you ever have FFF or recovery installed? I'm surprised that you got pushed the 6.3.1 OTA without even noticing.
There is a newer version of kindle fire utility with some great bug fixes read the op carefully before proceeding http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
Nope. Now that you mention that.... I don't think I do. It loads up without flashing the fire or recovery option.
Use the new version of the kindle fire utility you'll be fine as long as you have adb working
New utility
I really appreciate it. I'll look over that today and see if I can get it done.
Thanks

go over to the Kindle fire first aid thread and follow the steps to restore to 8.1.4 then let it automatically update to 8.3.0
I have tried everything. I ran the restore 8.1.4 it said it install successfully, but now I am just stuck on the kindlefire white and orange screen, boot screen. Nothing is happening. I let it sit on this screen for 10 minutes.

[Q] How do I get my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 back to factory default?

For starters, I apologize if any of this sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about because frankly, I don't know what I'm talking about.
Recently (this Christmas) my mother got me a Kindle Fire HD 8.9". I decided to follow a guide from a youtube user and put a second bootloader (twrp) and CM 10.1 on my Fire, only to find that half of the apps didn't work. I couldn't watch youtube videos or netflix, or even read books through the kindle app.
This made me angry because here I am freaking out trying to get my Kindle back to factory defaults so I can enjoy it again.
I've looked at countless guides on how to do this, but none were clear and all of them required big downloads that I'm not even sure would work.
Basically, I wiped the CM android os with TWRP, and I'm at the TWRP screen.
I downloaded the 8.4.6 amazon kindle update from the Amazon website and adb pushed it onto my sdcard. This didn't work; the Amazon update file I downloaded was a .bin, so I converted it to a .zip which apparently made my Kindle unable to open it and update.
I am able to get my Kindle into fastboot mode, but I have no clue where to go after this. Can someone please help? I just want my Kindle back the way it was.
Thanks
Use kindle fire first aid to restore it, though I have no idea what you are talking about with cm 10.1, sounds like you downloaded the wrong gapps because the stuff you mentioned works fine on cm 10.1 for me, you could also try cm 11 since it's newer.

You can't push an Amazon OS onto TWRP to flash it. It don't work like that.

Kindle Fire 7 Fifth Generation Black Screen after ADB Sideload

Hi Everyone. I've been lurking on here for a month or so, and I have successfully rooted my fire and installed the google play app and removed ads and blocked updates etc.
This problem occurred after I tried to install Slimrom LP, and ended up wiping everything with flashfire. I tried to do an adb sideload and it said it completed after "patching update unconditionally" and I selected reboot.
Then the screen went black and hasn't turned on since. I probably should have been more careful, but I wanted the slimrom and it looked sleek and minimal, and everything else was easy so I didn't think I would do anything I couldn't fix...now I am kinda scared.
Please Help!
