Hello guys,
My phone (Optimus G E973) is running stock rom (android 4.1.2). When I am on mobile data and trying to watch a youtube video, it says "Connection to server lost. Touch to retry." Regardless of how many times I touch to retry, the problem persists. I have done some research and it seems that others have this problem when on Wi-Fi or Mobile data. My problem only occurs when on mobile data. However, I have tried the recommended fixes to their problems. I have uninstalled and reinstalled youtube, cleared the data and cache, as well as cleared the cache from recovery. Does anybody have any ideas?
Thank you guys for your time reading this post.
I guess I was too fast to post up my problem. I had another problem receiving mms today and I looked into the APN settings. It appears the settings have changed from the ones I was using. Updated the settingsand all is well.

Hey guys, i've just received my desire today and been using my current data connection with no problem, except every time i try to open google maps, it comes up with the error "this application requires a data connection". I have updated the firmware to the lastest.
I have searched for this error but the only thing that will come up is about a data connection being dropped when trying to use google maps/gps... except my data connection stays 4 bars the whole time.
thanks, Brandon

Brandon, does the data connection works again after you stop Google Maps (without a reboot) ?
I have the same problem as you and only after reboot I have throughput again
nahh my data connection it works fine after trying :O

Brandon,
I did a hard reset (return to factory settings ) on my Desire today and guess what:
Both my Data problems (no data after use of Wifi and or GPS) are gone !
Tested several times Wifi & GPS , also did a reboot and tested again, all seems working again, no more 3G data problem anymore.
So I guess one of the extra apps I installed caused the 3G Data Connection issue.
I'll reïnstall them one by one to see if I can catch the "guilty" one.
I also hope that problem doesn't return after a while without a cause.
Still not working

I have tried this method. Everything was fine - my phone (rooted Samsung galaxy core duos JB 4.1.2) got faster. But google maps can't connect. I am stuck at the screen where you have to accept the terms and coditions (as it is launched for the first time).
Hope someone has encountered and fixed this error.
Hi all,
Just flashed my desire with Runny 3.6 [cm7r2] and cant play any videos through the youtube app over mobile data.. Wifi is fine and everything plays as normal.
I've wiped the app data and cache, reinstalled the app, reflashed the rom but it will always show "connection to server lost touch to retry"
anyone else experienced this?
This seems to be a sense 3.5 issue with my phone as the RunnymedeMod007 rom has the same effect to my you tube.
Wifi evertything is fine..but mobile data "connection to server lost touch to retry"
Has anyone else tried a sense 3.5 rom and had you tube working? i.e playing a video over mobile data rather than wifi?
change your device's language to english and try again please
That's my problem, Google Play can not connect "try again" and sometimes it shows me two erros: 495 y 923, and YouTube can not connect. But if i use 3G connection yes, It works!
*I already read the following things and i´m still with the same problem:
- "Reboot Mobile"
- "Clear cache and data from Google Play app and Market"
- Yes.. Gtalk works form me and i can talk with others..
- "Reinstall Google Play and Youtube apps"
- The date and hour its ok
In 3G connection it works, but if i change to wifi doesnt works. I can use internet with the wifi but google play and youtube dont. I've used the wifi connection since I have this phone and suddenly i have this problem.
Any ideas?
Which ROM are you using?

I got the same problem but i have samsung galaxy s2 tried to use market enable to flash the ar&t service and my date was ok tried with wifi apps but nothing its imposible with wifi
Nobody?
ROM's go corrupt over time, esp custom ROM's, try a factory reset and see if you still see the same issue...do a backup though before you do factory reset.
Nothing, i did a factory reset and google play and youtube have not conection to internet.....
Hi.
Just flashed the Blackout ICS ROM on my phone and I'z loving it.
Problem though is my Whatsapp doesn't send or receive msgs though other apps do.
i have uninstalled and reinstalled it; removed my data manager etc yet it's still the same.
i noticed a similar thread but it the problem wasn't addressed there. here's the thread link

First of all, if you are trying this over 3G, try it over WiFi.
Second, try clearing the data and cache of Whatsapp.
Third, if you are using a firewall app on your phone (such as droidwall), you might be blocking connections to whatsapp.

Everything works via Wifi. the Whatsapp recently connected but twitter failed to connect. seems all of the applications cannot connect simultaneously over 3G. Would habe posted the problem directly in the Balckout ICS DHD thread but i do not have enough posts to make any input in the development section.
thanks
I attempted to download an app from Google Play yesterday and noticed the download was running very slow so i stopped it and re-tried it a few times. It then stalled and would not download at all so I closed Google Play store and went back into it, now I get 'No Connection' in the center of the screen and Google Play will not work. I have since tried my stock Android browser and I get 'Web page not available' and also Youtube and Amazon app store have similar issues. However, what doesn't make sense is that some Internet based apps work fine and Dolphin browser works fine too. If I switch off Wi-Fi and connect to 3G everything works fine so the issue lies with the Wi-Fi connection. My wife who has the same phone can connect and use the Wi-Fi fine without any issues and any other Internet device I have is still working as it should be. It appears it is only my phone with the issue.
I have tried checking date/time which is correct.
I have reset cache and cleared data for both the browser, Youtube and Google Play
I have rebooted my phone and my broadband router
I have tried changing the security settings to from WPA2-PSK (AES) to WPA/WPA2-PSK (Mixed Mode)
All to no avail.
I have rooted Android 4.3 but it has been working fine for over a year before now. I would want to avoid doing a factory reset at all costs as I have some important apps that can't be backed up with the likes of Helium and some other forums have shown that a factory reset has not resolved the issue.
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.
After a day of trying to resolve this issue I have finally managed to fix it. This may be useful for anyone else having the same issue:
I went into my Wi-Fi settings and looked for my router in the list and did a long tap on the name and chose 'Forget Network' so it removes my router. I then did a re-scan so it picked it back up. When tapping it, this time I was able to re-enter my Wi-Fi password and connect. After doing this everything started working again.
I've no idea why all of a sudden the network failed to work correctly but at least it is now sorted. I just don't understand why some Internet access worked and others did not. I guess I shall never know!
