What is the model ID (MID)?
Do a fastboot getvar all, and post the output (delete IMEI and serial number, as these are personal info).

Don't bump the post, just because someone doesn't answer immediately. I was in the process of typing a response, which takes time.
Have some patience. This isn't paid tech support.

This is suspicious. The MID noted in your getvar photo doesn't match, as it says 06PB10000.
Also, its s-off, which means someone may have modded the phone to change the MID and CID.
Was the phone claimed to be new and/or stock from the seller?
On the other hand, the phone appears to have the proper firmware for the 06PB10000 (international) version, which should support LTE band 7, according to specs posted online.
Are you sure you entered your carrier's APN info properly?
Does the phone get 3G data?

I'm trying to unlock my desire but can't get the IMEI number. I've looked under the battery but there is only an s/n number listed and that doesn't work. I've went into phone info on the device and it only lists the s/n but with 3 digits missing. I've done the *#06# and my phone comes back with "can't connect or invalid number" (ps. I'm currently roaming in Canada and the phone is from Korea on the SK Telecom network.) Any other way of finding this number?
Use the dialler and type *#*#4636#*#*
It will be on the first line in the telephone info section.
Have a look in this thread:

Perhaps there is something similar to this.

*#06#
into the dialer and it will come on the screen
I guess it's another of those Korean locked Desire... one guy had the same issue.
Just use :
*#*#4636#*#*
and it will work if the following one doesn't :
*#06#

No, it wont work with the #06# I checked in the "About Phone" before I tried to do anything, and that is where i panicked. I have no IMEI number.. Well, I didn't. Now I have a standard one, but it's not mine. Now look.. I have the files
efsbackup.tar.gz
efsdev-mmcblk0p1.img.gz
which MUST be my backup siyah made when I flashed the kernel.. or whatever.
But how do I use them? I mean.. I don't know how to use them.

Nothing at all.. My phone is bought in Denmark (EU) and we use EMEI here. I had a perfect EMEI until this morning... now it's gone, which I don't understand. But I got this standard one now.. Which doesn't let me go on any carrier network, but also, it is not identical to the one under my battery.. and I want that one back. I have the two files mentioned above.. but I got NO clue what to do with them.
Hi,
I bought my HTC One X used (in mint condition), and I try to unlock it via IMEI and it doesn't work... The thing is that in the phone box shows one IMEI and in the phone indeed a different one. I tried to buy both codes and no one works. THe phone is rooted and with a custom rom (Nocturnal Elements 4.2 AOKP), does it mean anything? Should I try to restore factory ROM and try from there?
Thanks!!
You tried:

PS - I doubt you'll get it completely free.
Wilks3y, thanks for your message.
The problem is that I've already paid for 2 different IMEIs, several times. I get the same unlock code from all places and can't unlock my phone...
Is it possible to convert HTC m8 that is on AT&T to T-Mobile? By this i mean flash the Tmobile RUU on the AT&T M8.
I found a AT&T M8 for a good deal but i need it to work on T-Mobile (i know it will work once unlocked) wifi calling. The wifi calling is very important so i want to make sure it work. I am not sure if wifi calling will work on tmobile if the phone is using the AT&T software (RUU?).
Prompt help is greatly appreciated as i need to make the purchase decision ASAP. Thanks.

Well, You will need S-Off for this, first of all.
After that, I would go superCID, then flash 4.16.401.10 WWE firmware. That should be enough, plus a sim unlock.

It won't, as you suspect. The AT&T software doesn't have WiFi calling.
S-off by sunshine ($25) then change CID and MID, then you can run the T-Mobile RUU.
Also SIM unlock (as mentioned previously) and you're good to go.

Based on specs posted online, the WWE firmware would be missing bands used by T-Mobile for 3G and LTE.

I think you misunderstand. The band support for this device is determined in software (not by hardware, as it is for most previous smartphones). Once you've successfully run the T-Mob US RUU (which includes the appropriate radio software for T-Mob), you will have the proper band support for that carrier.
However, it does require you to jump through a few hoops (s-off, change CID/MID, etc.) which aren't that hard. But if you are at all concerned that anything will go wrong and prevent you from having the proper band support; and would rather have the proper bands "out of the box" (to be on the safe side) than I'd agree that you should get the T-Mobile US branded version.
Hello. New to XDA developers. I recently bought an m8 in Nairobi, Kenya. Runs on android KitKat 4.4.3. There's a link where HTC has uploaded ROMs for android M for the m8, with links for the different carriers. When I bought the phone from the dealer I used a Safaricom line straight out of the box and it didn't need unlocking so I assumed it was an international/unlocked version. However, after looking up the IMEI on some online checker, the part with the Model says; HTC ONE (M8), 0P6B120 (AT&T [US]). Does this mean its an unlocked AT&T version? There's also an option for Unblock This Phone on the checker. Does anyone know any other reliable way for finding out the carrier version?
Plug phone to computer (with fastboot environment setup) then do fastboot getvar all, to find product name, CID, MID, etc.
Delete IMEI and serial number, if you post the getvar output here.

The fact it was not carrier locked is in no way an indication of the carrier version. Any version can be unlocked with the SIM unlock code (then put back in the box as "new"). And a good number of versions come SIM unlocked out of the box.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction or tell me if I am going up a blind avenue.
A couple of weeks ago I bought a new HTC One m8 off ebay (Hong Kong). The phone arrived and I was able to update it to android 6 via a manual update file on the USA website. This went well so I bought another one for my wife, however, that failed to update. I contacted HTC usa and they advised that the second phone was designed for use in Canada on the Rogers network and would only update in Canada.
The phone reports itself as Android Version 4.4.4. Software 3.28.401.6.
I am in the UK.
I am able to get to the stock recovery screen and believe I need an RUU file to take me to android 6 - can anyone help ?

If you got this from the phone's Settings, it can be misleading. In fact, that software number would indicate the Euro version, not Rogers (so may have a custom ROM installed).
Does it have an OS number indicated on the bootloader screen?
If you know how, do fastboot getvar all, and post the results (delete IMEI and serial number before posting).
I don't think Rogers releases RUUs, so you may need to go another path.

Really appreciate the reply, I worked on this most of the night ... and ended up unlocking the phone and installing cyanogenmod 13 to see how that goes. I copied the stock ROM before installing so can always go back.
The price for buying the phone cheap on ebay !
Thank again Paul
