Ever since I update my phone to 5.1.1 the WiFi is keep running on background even though I toggle off the WiFi. I have also switch off the gps and locate my phone using WiFi when not used. This would not go away until I reboot my phone and because of that android system on battery status is mainly draining my battery. Please help me fix this. I have factory reset and clear the cache numerous time.

How is your Smart Network Switch set? Mine is off.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using XDA Premium HD app
It is off as well. And it seems like if I have WiFi connected and leave the WiFi zone then even though I toggle off it would still run in background. If I switch off before leaving the WiFi zone then it would be fine.

Has there been a fix about using WiFi tethering and phone disconnects when it sleeps? This has been a problem since ICS update. I haven't seen a solution, so if one is out there, I would appreciate the feedback.

Go to settings> wireless> wifi settings and press menu button. Open advanced settings , there u ll find Wifi sleep policy. Choose "never"
I had it on "always", changed it per your instructions. Will see if this works. Will change back when using WiFi, at my friends residence.

Doesn't work, still disconnects. It has nothing to do with the Mobile on WiFi, but when using the Mobile as a WiFi modem to use pc to get a broadband connection.

Does any one know what the eyeball with eyelashes up on my notification is? Also why when using Boat browser or any other browser it won't download video no more thru my regular data but it does thru my wifi? I had the G2 and it would work fine, just switched and it's not working any more.

It defaults to WiFi automatically (if it's available) to save use on your data plan. You can configure it to use data connection only in the advanced WiFi settings, not sure why you would want to, but the option is available.
And yes, the eye is smart stay/scroll etc... , you can turn it off by going into controls >smartscreen >smartstay. Keeps the screen on as long as it detects your looking at it ..

I use to use go SMS as my messaging app, then I was introduced to Hangouts by my brother. Its plain and simple as a messaging app. I have one issue, sometimes my MMS won't download and I will get individual messages from the contact person, saying "cannot download, please press to download message" and when I press it, sometimes it won't download, other times it won't download till a little later or it just won't download at all. Is there any fix to this? Its very frustrating. I redownloaded the app, I even wiped my phone. I put a new ROM on, (was happening on my previous ROM also). My modem is mk4, going to switch to NB4. But is this an app issue or connectivity issue? I always get my regular SMS without a problem. Please help, I'll appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

If you're on WiFi calling then that's why, you need to disable it or disable it every time you get an MMS

I get this same issue even with stock messenger. Like Serio said, you need to disable Wifi calling. I just shut Wifi off using the toggle send/receive the MMS then turn it back on.

Yup that's what I do.. But it should work fine with stock SMS app, unless you have hangouts as your default SMS client

Only touchwiz ROMs have WiFi calling, so this is not your issue.. Try asking or searching in the ROM thread to see if someone was able to find a solution.. I'm on Google edition ROM and have no issues sending MMS with hangouts while connected to WiFi

I've noticed this on mine too. Often I just turn on Wi-Fi and then turn it off and it will work.

It's a network issue
Try toggling data or airplane mode usually fixes
Does anyone know how to stop it from using gpa signals? It's using it in almost 20 minutes cycle and it also drains battery. How do you make it stop?

That's what I figured you did, just that mind never showed up there. Also I froze it and still get lots of GPS ping. In thinking it's the Google location setting.
