Does anyone know how to stop it from using gpa signals? It's using it in almost 20 minutes cycle and it also drains battery. How do you make it stop?

Is that what it is? I see GPS so often as well, if so I'll disable it since I'm rooted. How did you know it is using GPS

That's what I figured you did, just that mind never showed up there. Also I froze it and still get lots of GPS ping. In thinking it's the Google location setting.

I would make sure that none of your apps are set to auto update. Other than that you can use a third party app like traffic monitor to see what is using your data.

I'm getting them five or six times a night, my wife is worried I'm on my phone at all hours of the night from the bill. I would really like to find the source of the media/data and put a stop to it.
How do I make sure my apps don't auto update? (Sorry, I'm new to Android, so be patient)

Open Google Play, select your menu button, select "my apps" and then check they are not set to auto update. You should also check settings and make sure auto update is not set as default.

Go into settings>data usage and it should tell you exactly what is using data and how much.

What does the data usage on the phone say?
Settings > Data Usage
That should tell you what app is using the data. It could be a whole bunch of things.
MobileAP widget was quite the culprit for unexpected data use on gingerbread.

Did that before I went to sleep. Also here is a sample of the ones using data through the night. I'm on wifi all night but whatever is doing this uses actual phone data.

This is not a Note 2 problem but an ATT problem. My mother had the exact same problem on a much simpler phone that didn't even have a data plan attached to it. I looked at her bill online and there were countless small data exchanges over a short period of time. I spoke to ATT and told them she doesn't even have a data plan and her phone is not one to use data. I had to forcibly block Internet data from exchanging back and forth on the account level. Obviously you can't use that as a solution. Don't let them tell you it's your device because chances are it's not.

Wow, thanks for such valuable input, sorry for trying to provide peace of mind to my wife and mother of my children. Maybe I should just divorce her and move on, that would show balls, right? Go troll somewhere else.

I am traveling to Europe this weekend. While I am over there, I would like to disable all mobile data on my phone. Occasional I would like to allow only one or two apps to connect to the network while restricting all others. Is there a way to do that? Maybe an app?
Thanks for your help.

So I get this icon that shows my CPU usage and battery that appeared randomly on my notification bar. I'm not sure how it got there but I'm quite used to it now and like the looks of it. Does anyone know how to enable or disable it just incase it goes away on it's own? Or should I be aware of it because it can be a harmful third party app?

It's actually getting on my nerves now and I want it off and I don't know how, I restarted my phones a few times and it's still there.

Are you using any 3rd party app that monitor your cpu status ect.? I know when I used "Quick System Info" app I had the option to shows those info on my status bar.
Does it also show in the drop down panel? If it does long press on it and chose "App info".

Open your notifications and tap and hold the notification then click app info.
Nothing shows when I drag the notification bar but the same thing it does now. It covers my icons under it and if I were to be on Youtube watching a video on fullscreen it still shows. I haven't installed anything in about a week either. I don't want to take it to T-Mobile and ask since my phones rooted also

Can you provide a list of apps that you have installed? It would help narrow down which programs have the permission to draw overlays and that would likely reveal the culprit. Also, have you tried disabling the Xposed framework to make sure it's not one of the modules you installed (doubt it, but worth the trouble)?

You've installed something recently or changed an app's settings recently. That is an output from a monitoring app. CPU, GPU, or something of that sort.
You need to check that app(s) and uncheck whatever seems to point to showing it.

I've noticed this on mine too. Often I just turn on Wi-Fi and then turn it off and it will work.

Ever since I update my phone to 5.1.1 the WiFi is keep running on background even though I toggle off the WiFi. I have also switch off the gps and locate my phone using WiFi when not used. This would not go away until I reboot my phone and because of that android system on battery status is mainly draining my battery. Please help me fix this. I have factory reset and clear the cache numerous time.

It is off as well. And it seems like if I have WiFi connected and leave the WiFi zone then even though I toggle off it would still run in background. If I switch off before leaving the WiFi zone then it would be fine.
