I have been using CM 12.1 for months and I had no problems until now. I didn't update CM 12.1 for a long time, my mistake, but I downloaded the latest update today and installed it. The problem is that the phone won't boot. It restarts after the CM logo every time. I tried flashing the update again using the twrp but the problem still lies. What should I do?
Maybe the modem driver. I had to flash an additional zip file other than the ROM on latest Resurrection remix 5.5.x.

I've had this problem too.
The way i fixed it was like this :
1. Flashed MIUI 7
2. wiped everything [data/cache/dalvik-cache]
3. flashed CM12.1
and i got it booted like that
you can try flashing this kitkat bootloader or you can say modem files. it has been taken from MIUI v7 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347850305 and then try to clean dalvik cache after you flashing it or do any update, I might recommend using Mokee 5.1.1 for CM12.1 in R1S it is smooth and has more features
as its already mentioned on the OP, u have flash the firmware also when coming from old source build.
If u have a SD card, try removing it and then use ur phone.

Hi all,
I am installing CM13 on a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE serranoltexx and I have an issue with Gapps.
The ROM installs fine but once I install Gapps I get a forced closed messages. I checked a few guides and they suggested that this was due to the application permissions on CM13 but when I check these they appear to be fine.
Under the application menu I can see that the apps which Gapps installs are grayed out, almost like they are installed on the SD card but the SD card is missing! I have tried a number of times to delete cache but no luck.
I am using opengapps. I just tried using CM12 with open gapps but I get the same exact issue, therefore I think this is an issue with Gapps.
Can anybody offer any advise on how to get this working?
Thanks,
c
You can try different gapps (pico, micro ...) or recovery. I'm using cwm recovery

I tried different Gapps packages but not different recovery. I am using TWRP, do you have a link to the CWM which you are using?

Hi,
After flashing CWM Gapps worked! I now have an issue where by if I try and update Cyanogenmod via the Cyanogenmod updates, the device reboots into recovery however it doesn't flash the update, recovery fails.
Can you advise which recovery I would need to install to be compatible with using OTA Cyanogenmod updates?
You can also flash updates manually. Don't need to outoflash
But if you want to OTA update you should use cyanogen recovery. https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=serranoltexx
You can see cyanogenmod recovery right of the cyanogenmod build.

The solution work?
Here's what worked for me.
First of all, I'm using TWRP 2.8. The root tutorial I followed gave me CWM so I switched my self. After that I tried installing gapps and I ran into the setup wizard and google app force closures. What seemed to have worked for me was to flash the ROM again which I downloaded through CM updates (it goes to the folder 'cmupdater' in your internal storage), boot, enable dev options, turn on advanced power menu, reboot to recovery through powr menu, install gapps micro and then reboot WITHOUT wiping dalvik/cache. I hope this helps some of you guys as it is what worked for me. It's sounds like alot but its the exact steps I followed.

Flash manually thought TWRP/CWM(TWRP recommended) . the ROM is saved in internal storage in a folder called 'cmupdater'.
I bought a new 5X (running 6.0, not 6.0.1) and unlocked bootloader, flashed TWRP as standard - it all worked.
Then I flashed CM13 and got stuck in a bootloop (waited upwards of 10 minutes with the CM logo). I tried the same with the latest stable release and got the same issue. What can I do? Thanks!
Did you do a wipe in twrp before flashing cm? If not do that. Just use twrp's default wipe.

Yep, both factory reset (default wipe) and full wipe of everything but internal storage.

Sounds like you're doing everything correctly. I'd try giving it more time. Sometimes it takes a lot longer than it should to boot up.

Currently tried flashing BlissPop to see if problem persists. How long would you say is "too long"?
Occasionally I've seen 20 minutes or more. That's not usually the case but I have seen that.
Currently on 21 minutes with BlissPop booting. Thank you for your help so far, if this doesn't boot in 10 minutes I'll try and flash the stock images. Is there any way to find what phone model I have just using fastboot?
When you boot into the bootloader that screen will tell you the device you have
I know but none of the options from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en#bullhead fit. Or are the "MHC19Q" and such just versions of 6.0.1? Sorry for the (probably) stupid question.

The problem is "running 6.0, not 6.0.1". The CM13 based 6.0.1 android (the newest april security version), so upgrade your stock android to newest 6.0.1.

Which cm13 did you download? The official nightlies, or the MM blob based one from Jrior001's website?

Hai friend,
I'd download from The official nightlies.
Thanks
First thing I would try is to re-download the Rom. And try to install it again. Just to make sure it wasn't a corrupted dl.

My Mi Max is unlocked, rooted and runs LinageOS 14.1.
I have been wanting to try out MIUI again and downloaded the recovery Rom from the MIUI Forum.
I have been using nijel8's TWRP but tried others.
Installing the ROM works with no problems but afterwards I get the message that no OS is installed and when I try to boot nothing happens even after 60 Minutes.
Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance

Thank you. But unfortunatly is does not make a differnece. Still doesnt boot. I have also tried every combination of 'wipe' with this Flash.
The ROM doesnt even boot. The Phone doest post, but it does not try to boot as in the boot Animation does not show.

Thank you. That was it. I have read about that file bevore but all the versions i came across did not work.
I just bought a op8 but just for fun I wanted to update a custom rom on my op5t. I wiped everything and installed the rom like I've done many others, but it reboots back to recovery. I transferred another rom zip plus gapps, flashed it, but it does the same thing.
I've never encountered this. Is it maybe an issue with the Twrp version? I don't think so because I just updated to a new version a little over a month ago.
Any ideas to get me back to a working phone would be appreciated. It'd be nice to use this phone as a backup if necessary. Thanks.
Hello what rom did you attempt to flash and what version of twrp are you on? Also what android version was the device on before you tried flashing the rom?

Sorry. I totally missed your response.
I was on the latest Derpfest and had just updated to what should be the latest version of TWRP (Bluspark) I don't have the phone on me right, but can get the version number later.
I was trying to update to the newest version of Derp which was Android 11, but when that failed I pushed CRDroid to the SD card. It also booted back to Twrp.
Thanks.
