I had been using a firestick and was working fine. Upgraded to the Fire Tv 2 w voice remote. However installed Kodi 15.2 and Firestarter 3.2.1 successfully. For some reason my Voice controls aren't working on remote. Also, my main concern is now it boots to registration window & few seconds later goes to Firestarter. However, when I click on fire home button doesn't go into Amazon Home screen anymore it's like it has vanished. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated thank you.
If you are trying to use voice on kodi i don't think it works, only on amazon home, check your firestarter settings, im sure something in there is messed up, make sure it is set to start in amazon home not firestarter.

I am assuming you used Lama to set ikonotv as your main screen icon to start kodi and then replace its icon with kodi icon. If this is correct then you will need to push them again every time you power your unit off or after every update your stick will take.
Will the fire stick software/firmware update mess up any Kodi settings?
No, but I have noticed one thing since the latest update, if storage gets low and I play anything with Kodi the remote will not do anything inside the video screen. So I have to hit the home button and clean storage before the remote will work while media is playing inside Kodi. The remote still works on everything else, but the back button, directional buttons, play/pause, round enter button, menu button and rewind/fast foward buttons will not do anything, so if I click on a video and it starts playing, the only way to get out of the video screen is to hit the home button. This has always happened with the onscreen keyboard on all OSs, if the storage gets low the letters no longer appear on the XBMC/Kodi keyboard, but this is the first time the remote has not worked while playing videos in Kodi. Its not just the Fire TV remote either, its all devices that control Kodi. The mouse and keyboard also stop working while media is playing inside Kodi if the storage gets to low. If you hit any button or move the mouse, it does nothing if storage gets too low, but they still work after hitting the home button. Just thought I would let people know incase it happens to them too. Simple solution, just clean storage. I recreated the problem too by filling the device with a random large file, after deleting the file the problem went away.
I have set up some fire tv sticks (stock, non-root) with the latest kodi + llama and IP TV. Works pretty well so far. But there is a big problem: often the streams keep running if accidentally the home button is pressed and the fire tv stick got back to homescreen. Even if you put the stick manually in "sleep mode" the stream keeps running in the background (you can her the audio on the tv speaker). How can I fix this?
You could try to set up a Llama rule: when KODI is running and HOME button is pressed then kill KODI.
Well, how to set it up in llama to detect home button press?
Try the following (LLama starts in german on my devices so my translation may not be exact but the meaning should be clear ):
1.) create a new Llama rule
2.) set a new condition for "KODI" but change the default value "is started or in foreground" to "is quit or in background"
3.) kill application "KODI"
What should happen here: as long as KODI runs regulary nothing because it is still in foreground but when the HOME button is pressed KODI should go to the background and here the Llama condition 2.) should be triggered and Llama has to 3.) kill KODI.
thanks for sharing your idea. I set up llama according to your suggestion but unfortunately it not work. The stream is still running in the background, even when you put the fire tv stick manually in sleep mode you can still hear the audio.
If you hold down the home button long enough from the amazon home screen, you'll get option to go to settings>applications>manage applications>kodi>force stop.

Well that works but pretty complicated and I am sure my kids won't do that always before they shut off tv.
I observed that on a Fire TV that problem not arises. But on the FTV stick it does. Something must be different with the sleep mode.
In firestarter go to settings and under "home button single click application" select "no action". It worked for me on a stick and fire tv. Ususally its set to FireTV home. I was able to replicate your issue on a stick and fire tv and setting the home button single click application to no action in the firestarter setting worked for me. But keep in mind that kodi will still be running in the background as its only paused. So if you double click home button from the amazon home screen you'll just go back to kodi on a paused screen. Kodi should always be turned off using it's power button or force closed from amazon app settings.
Not sure what happened or how to fix it. Had Firestarter configured for double click Home to launch Kodi, this no longer works... Either just goes to FireTV home or goes to list of Firestarter list of apps.
Any ideas

there probably was a firetv software update... may have to remove and re-install firestarter
I'm not sure how it happened, but I can't get past the "Who's watching Netflix?" screen. There is a cursor that I can move around the screen, but nothing I press will select anything. "R1 or L1" will adjust the cursor speed, the left stick controls the cursor, "X" button will make the cursor appear if it's not visible. I've tried clicking the sticks, the triggers, double clicking, click & hold, and have had no luck, the only thing I can do is press home to go to the AFTV home screen. I have a AFTV 2 with game remote, no plain remote, not rooted, running Fire OS 5.0.5.1. How do I get out of this mode? I tested other apps, and so far they all seem to be normal, it's just Netflix.
Found a fix for this
Settings > My Account > Sync Amazon content
source:
oops. new user can't post link. search "game controller no working Netflix" in the fire tv forums on amazon.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was about to restore to factory settings as a last resort.
Anyone using the new Shield with a Harmony Hub? I have it all set up, the controller works great, I now have only one to replace 4. However, it works via bluetooth... so when you ask Echo to 'turn on the Android Box', she can't get the Shield to turn on. She can turn everything off, just not on... When I get home this evening, I will try to edit the activity so that the Android Box never turns off... it doesn't consume much energy, so shouldn't be a problem & it should be primed to come on with the voice command.
Funny thing is, that with one press of the button on the remote, all turns on perfectly... Anyone else who has it working, please let me know.
how did you set it up, scan for wifi or manually? I haven't gotten around to it yet but on the nvidia forums people have said it doesn't map the OK button properly. OK and select are apparently concurrently sent by the shield remote, but the Harmony only uses select. some apps use OK while others use select. some have mentioned setting it as the Nexus player instead.
as for your question, like I said I haven't set up my shield yet but with my fire TV I can tell Alexa to turn it on and all my components turn on properly. if the fire TV is asleep hitting any button on the Harmony (mapped to a fire TV command) will wake it
Is there difference between shield one and two?
I have a hub working fine with shield 1. It is just a stand alone hub...no remote was included and entire setup was done via the harmony phone app. It turns on/off perectly along with my TV and home theater receiver using either the app or with my Amazon echo: "Alexa, turn on shield"....lol, I love it!

Set it up by inputting the model number, after setup it asked me to pair via BT. My OK button is working well, as is the controller... I've done a load of setting up, kodi etc. & haven't had any issues with button maps. It still won't turn on by voice command, but that's not the end of the world.
I just got mine to work, I said "Alexa turn on shield" and both TV and shield came on.
So... my Shield 2017 got stuck in a loop of rebooting... it would turn on for a few seconds and then turn off again. Happened while I was watching youtube videos, once when watching stuff on Kodi and also when I had left it idle...
I tried disconnecting from the harmony in case that was the cause. Deleted some new apps I had installed... but eventually did a factory reset this morning before work. I'll check it again this evening for the same behaviour.
Anyone experienced similar?
Is anyone else having trouble with the select (OK) button working on the amazon video app? I can get into the app, but once I move over to select a show/movie, the OK button won't work.

yep, same here.
That was actually fixed a couple days ago. You will need to delete and re-add the shieldTV device inside Harmony to fix it.
Thanks I'll check it out.
I'm curious to know how you got the harmony hub to recognize the shield's Long press button functionality ?
IE: Long pressing the back button on the shield remote inside Kodi brings up the context menu.
[EDIT] -- PLEASE DISREGARD QUESTION ABOVE. Long pressing harmony remote Select/OK button replicates function.

Hi Sean have you tried "ok google launch Kodi" when the shield is in standby mode?
