My Galaxy SIII is stuck in a boot screen loop that loads the tmobile image then reboots. All data is on internal memory so I know it isn't as simple as pulling out an SD card although some have mentioned there may be a way to mount the eMMC and read it like an SD card. I just don't know how. My goal is to recover any pictures off of the internal memory. I've tried connecting by usb to my computer in an attempt to mount the internal storage but I guess it doesn't get far enough in the boot process to allow me to read data. I'm not shy from a hardware perspective so I'm willing to try any options. I've also seen what I guess is the JTAG header mounted on the board but I would have to purchase an interface board if this is my only option.
Remove and reinsert the battery. If it tries to turn on by itself you have a faulty power button.

Is the phone rooted and have you manually power on into recovery to flash cash also you mentioned hooking to a computer you could try to repair with kies other than that I would probably download a copy of the system partition and flash it with Odin from download mode as long as you don't delete the data partition we should keep all your files

I'm faced with the Boot Loop issue on my phone. I don't mind doing the factory reset, but I have pictures of our new baby on the phone storage that I would really really like to get off before I do that. From what I've ready it doesn't look possible. Anyone got something for me to try?
FYI...I'm an Anandtech Member. murphy55d from there turned me on to you guys.
Is it possible to flash the phone with something that will let me boot up to grab these pics/vids?
Pics and vids are stored by default on the sdcard, unless you set it up to save to the emmc. Either way, a factory reset will not erase the sd or emmc, so you should be good. If they are on the emmc and you cant boot there is no way of getting them till you can boot. If there on the sdcard you can either pop it out and use a micro to sd adapter to pull the pics off with a pc, or if your rooted you can mount the sd to the pc thru recovery and pull them off.
that's what I was looking for...THANK YOU! Going to F.Reset now.

you are wrong...i lost everything...
Not sure what you did, but I've done multiple resets and the photos from froyo that were on the emmc are still there and so are the ones on the sdcard.

factory reset
I know there are multiple threads regarding this, but non of them have a solution for me.
I can't go into recovery mode, holding the buttons only refresh the screen that says "Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100, N7105".
However, I can access download mode, from what I understand, everyone is saying you cannot restore or recover any internal storage data if you go fix your phone through Odin. Is there a work around? Can I get at least recover some of the data on the internal storage before fixing the problem? Maybe a recovery OS like live CD's are used on PC's?
How it started: I inserted a very old SD card into the phone (note 2), not sure what was on it that caused this, but when I turned on the phone, it was stuck at the Samsung logo screen. Removing the SD card didn't change anything.
Thanks
Hello everyone,
My at&t galaxy s3 would not turn on at all after I messed around with some apps called "Aparted" and "Swapper 2".. If there is some way this could be fixed I would really appreciate it!
So the story was..
I was reading some forums and their guides on how you can add more RAM and use an ExtSD to an Internal SD.
So I got interested and decided to do the guide to see if it will really boost up my phone. So I downloaded Aparted and Swapper 2. I then I wiped and partition my ExtSD to 3 partitions. 1 formatted to Ext3 for the swapper to use RAM, 1 formatted to ext4 for the Internal memory. And 1 formatted to Fat32 for my computer to read.
I thought it was a good idea since it will boost up my phone.
But then when I stared the swapper 2 to start using the partition for the RAM, everything went smoothly and the app said it was set successfully and asking to reboot. So I did. After the phone turned off to reboot, it usually takes 2 seconds for it to vibrate and start booting but it was completely dead and not responding to the power button. I could not even go to recovery mode or download mode because the buttons do not respond. When I connect it to a charger and the battery removed, it only lights up a red LED and when I try to put back the battery it only goes away. I've tried various things to boot up my phone. From waiting to removing the battery and wait, when putting it on a computer which only reads QHSUSB_DLOAD, downloaded the qualcomm drives which now reads HS-USB diagnostics 9008 and leaving the phone on a charger for a day to no avail. If anyone could try and help without me sending my phone to a JTAG or anything that would make me spend too much money..
Thank you for taking your time reading my post.
Have you tried getting into download mode with a USB jig?

That's what I'm afraid of.. but is there any other way like doing a bootable SD card using a debrick.img? I really don't want to send it to a JTAG. :/

There is a guide to debrick the phone. I have never had to do it myself but others have reported success.

I was using Philz on my one m8 gsm edition and I accidentally pressed "wipe all data/factory reset" and so my nandroid backups don't exist anymore. I have some on my laptop but when I connect my phone using usb, the phone doesn't even show up. All I can do is access recovery because technically there's no rom in my phone anymore. Please help, what can I do to push my old recoveries on my laptop to my phone or at least restore my phone to stock?
I know I can download a zip to my micro sd card but my laptop doesn't have a micro sd card slot. I guess I have to use ADB? However, I'm a noob so I don't know how to use ADB with philz. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!
Enter recovery and adb sideload rom/backup. This also happended to me in younger years with a device without sd card. Lucky you the M8 got one. Unlucky you your laptop does not have a card reader. But, you can trick somehow.
If you have a digicam with sd card use it and copy files via digicam on sd
OR (easier):
Check M8 Toolkit
Hassle free solution is to buy a USB microSD card adapter or an SD card to microSD adapter if you have a slot on your laptop/PC. I got one for £1 and it has proved useful.
Yeah, I lost everything in my first days of the device... Still don't know why even. Regardless, my daughters Tab 3 saved me with its micro SD. I downloaded a rom onto it, popped it in my M8 and I was back up.
Good safety net having a way to transfer to a micro SD, aside from your M8. ?

I had issues with Adb and transfer failing... The card made life easy!
i had to use a otg cable and thumbdrive to put my OS back on the same happened to me when i first learned all this stuff on a m7........just remember there is always a way
Hi everyone...i' ve bricked my lte and i need some help...
I transferred some photos from device memory to sd card and then some songs that were there started to have ''unsual'' capacity about 2gb or 3gb and the song names where changed in symbols.
Through restarting the phone about 2 or 3 times the rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/development/rom-t3030976) started to crash.
In the sd was another custom rom (CarbonRom) so i decided to flash it. When i tried to install the rom zip file, after deleting everything from device memory, couldn't restore anything from sd card.
My problem is that i have no rom in device memory, my device can't be indentified from usb connection (no ODIN connection) and my sd card too.
Sd card when was connected with laptop via usb adaptor for first time, a message appeared and sd needed formatting and i couldn't access it. I tried to find a solution as far as mtp protocol is concerned but with no success.
Is there any way that i can fix it? Thanks in advance...
Can you access download mode ? Remove battery, wait 10 sec, put it back on and press-hold volume down + home and power keys @ same time.
If u get a screen where it says press vol up to continue just do that. Using Odin flash a stock firmware. You can download stock firmware from sammobile.com.
Odin connection made! New cell back in my hands! Thank you!
