Ok I was running version .145 (rooted) with unlocked bootloader already. I am just trying to update my version to the latest one. So what I did, I download the stock .145 version and flash them using Flashtool. After flashing the phone booted just fine. After that, I go to update the software from the setting option. The phone downloaded the software and eventually install it. Since then I dont know why the phone is unable to reboot itself??? I have tried to re-flash again using the flash tool but still unable to boot my phone??? (seem to be flash ok, no error messages what so ever). Can anyone help me, how to boot my phone again?? or to make it work normal again?? Thank you.

Ok, think I finally fixed it....thanks to the following thread:

Seemed like I bricked my phone....thank god it work again...
Everytime bootloader is unlocked, OTA will brick the phone. That's a fact. Anyway at least you figured out the solution.
Hey..
Nice that you fixed it..
Please read the Namaste guide sticky in Genral forums for info on locked vs unlocked bootloader..
OTA update for any unlocked bootloader will end up with a bricked phone.. So instaed simply flash the latest ROM ftf and then flash a rooted img.. Check forums for threads on tutorials for this..
Hello,
I want to go back to the latest stock roms because i don't enjoy the current roms that are out.
And i can't use what i want on a custom rom but i can on the stock.
Can someone explain to me how to go back to stock?
Thanks,
Thomas
Flash a Stock ROM ftf using flastools.

And this is the place you would get all the Stock ROM ftf.
BTW, mention your device name also, otherwise others won't be able to help u.

Using a Xperia S.
you cant update when you are on unlocked bootloader, you need to relocked first.

You need to relock only when going to use SUS/PCC. Flashtool, no need.

Root Xperia ZL with Latest .244fw
I Take no credit for this I have done zero development work
All credits to the great @DooMLoRD
This is a just a Guide telling how to implement his method
Requirement
Latest Flashtool https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8hAoiy5gSGVZU5zOHU4TFdJTkk/preview
latest Ftf file for fw .244
Ftf file for fw .423
Latest DoomLord Rootinf Kit v18 (no else would work in this case) http://www76.zippyshare.com/v/29480564/file.html
Make sure device is on latest .244 fw (If not then wait for the official update)
NOTE: We need complete file only to flash the Kernel.sin & Loader.sin
OR
Use the files provided by me which contain the required files only (easier method)
These kernel files are from C6502 if you have another device they might not work. In that case use the complete FTF files for your device and root using complete ftf method
Latest .244 file https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8hAoiy5gSGVcDI4di1YTnNYSkU/edit?pli=1
Older fw.423 file https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8hAoiy5gSGVbmtOY2lyMUc0OXM/edit?pli=1
How (Using complete ftf packages)
Flash only the kernel.sin & loader.sin from older .423ftf package using FlashTool
Uncheck all wipe options
Check all exclude option EXCEPT Exclude Kernel
Now flash this using flashtool
Reboot the device and make sure USB Debugging & Unknown Sources are allowed in settings
Now root using the latest DoomLord Kit v18 (No other version of kit will work)
Turn Off the Device and put in Flash Mode (Press Volume Down while attaching usb cable)
Now open the latest .244ftf package and repeat the check and uncheck process as earlier
Flash only the Kernel.sin & Loader.sin
Reboot the Device
Done !!
OR
How (Using given ftf files) EASIER WAY
These kernel files are from C6502 if you have another device they might not work. In that case use the complete FTF files for your device and root using complete ftf method
Flash the .423 kernel ftf package using FlashTool
Reboot the device and make sure USB Debugging & Unknown Sources are allowed in settings
Now root using the latest DoomLord Kit v18 (No other version of kit will work)
Turn Off the Device and put in Flash Mode (Press Volume Down while attaching usb cable)
Now open the latest .244kernel ftf package and flash it
Reboot the Device
Done !!
I take no responsibility for any kind of damage to your Phone
Do all this at your own risk
Thankyou @DooMLoRD for your great work
This is the 3rd post on the same thing (excluding Doomlord's original).

Hi i followed all the steps as mentioned.... but after flashing restarting it is not going past Sony logo, not even the boot animation.
Please help
Hey there Just decided to share my experience. I have a D5503 and I flashed the 14.5.A.0.242 firmware. After this I decided to try to root the device, but since I had no TWRP or Clockwork it seems impossible to root. I lost my bootloader unlock too and no tool or method seems to be able to unlock it. I tried the official sony method, tried from flashtool and other similar programs but nothing seems to work (from cmd it comes up with and error message, some kind like "failed, cannot complete command or smth"). And yes,I've checked and my phone's bootloader CAN be unlocked. Any ideas what must be causing that or I just have to wait for a proper tool/method for root/BL unlocker ?
Hi,
I have attempted to OTA update my Moto G6 Play after unlocking my bootloader. When it finished, it said "Failed". Can someone help me.

Find the thread for your stock firmware and see if it is available there. This happens because of root and/or the unlocked bootloader. You have to unroot and possibly relock the bootloader to be able to take OtA updates.
Sent from my Moto G6 Plus using Tapatalk
Same issue here .
If your bootloader is unlocked or if you do not have the stock recovery anymore then the update will fail. If your rooted then look through your device for the update package and upload it online for others to see.
I've tried flashing the stock firmware but get same result. Where do I get the stock recovery to fix the issue?
I haven't unlocked neither rooted my moto g6 play yet, I received the update notification this morning , I've updated it with no issues ( around 500mb). Update is Android security patch level , 1 September 2018 , build number : OPP27.91-143

unlocked bootloader won't make you unable to do the update. only stalling custom recovery and/or rooting phone. as soon as I got this update by the beginning of the month, I just reflashed stock firmware and did the update.
