Hey guys,
Ok, this is a tough one for you. I'm actually not 100% convinced that my phone isn't hard bricked. But every where I look for, it says, it's only hard bricked if your phone wont turn on at all and that's just not true in my case. So here's the story:
My volume-up button is kind of screwed, I don't know, what happened to it, but one day, it just started being triggered randomly until it just didn't work at all anymore. It wasn't that big of a problem, since I was still able to change the volume by hitting the volume-down button once and changing the volume by the on screen slider. I was running SkyDragon GPE V5.5 for quite a while now.
But now I wanted to upgrade to Android 6.0, so I downloaded the firmware from here. Next I rebooted to bootloader switched to fastboot and used "sudo fastboot oem rebootRUU" and "sudo fastboot flash zip firmware.zip" twice. So far so good, everything went fine and I actually even am able to see the new Google splashscreen.
So now I want to flash this ROM. But, for some reason, the touchscreen doesn't work anymore, even though it's activated in the CWM Philz Touch GUI settings enabled. Alright, so I "wipe to install a new ROM" and navigate to the zip file to install it and it starts the aroma installer, which I can't control since the touchscreen doesn't work. So, I'm kind of frustrated by now, I flash TWRP, because, maybe here, the touchscreen works. I flash it and try to reboot into it. But it doesn't work, it just stays at the Google splashscreen, I can restart by holding down the power button but it will just go back to the Google splashscreen. After a couple of tries I actually get it to turn off, so I hold down power and volume down to get into the bootloader but it just goes back to the splashscreen.
I can't get to the bootloader, I don't have a ROM installed and I can't get into the recovery. Is there anything I can still do or is everything lost?
Which TWRP version ? You need to use 2.8.7.0
You can't get to bootloader because of the timing when pressing power & volume down button.
If you can turn it off, press and hold volume down button then press power button until it vibrates then release the power button.

Well Hello there, my name is poszy and i am having a very difficult experience.
So about a week ago i rooted my Acer A100 because i wanted cynogenmod, (i was running stock ICS)Long story short i bricked my tablet because CWM froze while i was wiping my tablet.
i did all of the following
1.) Rooted Tablet
2.) unlocked bootloader
3.) installed clockwork
All of these steps were done with the methods found here, Maybe it bricked because i was on Stock.
Anyways, i was lucky enough that my tablet only bricked to the point where it only looped during the android logo.
I am able to access the bootloader, but as soon as i tried to go back to ICS stock (because that was the only rom i could go back to and try to bring my tab back to life) that locked the bootloader. so now i have the stock bootloader. Everytime i try and flash a stock ICS update.zip it does not go past the android logo.
So i tried to flash the Honeycomb stock Acer_A100_1.014.08_COM_GEN1 Via stock recovery, and it all flashes well but for some reason it keeps asking me for a password.
i obtained the Acer_A100_1.014.08_COM_GEN1 from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307046
Stock Recovery seems to be working fine because when i power on my tab it loads into honeycomb but i cant get past the first screen because it keeps asking me for a password. :crying:
i have tried to do a hard reset with the pinhole but that does not do anything. Every Honeycomb stock rom i try to recover from always tells me to enter a password and every ICS rom i try to flash with the default recovery will not boot past the android logo.
on honeycomb i cannot do anything, i cant mount storage or access app drawer or anything because the pinlock dosent allow me to.
Can someone please help me and tell me what im doing wrong?
i was fortunate enough to make a nandroid of my ICS stock rom, but thats no use with a stock recovery right?
Since you flashed a stock rom, you should have a stock recovery, locked bootloader and unrooted. So you should be good to go, to just do a normal factory reset. To get rid of the pin lock.
-----------------------------
-Press and hold the Volume up button. Which is located farthest from the corner.
-While still holding the Volume up button, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds and then immediately release it. Continue holding the Volume up button.
-The tablet will vibrate in approximately 1-2 seconds after you release the power button, once you feel or hear this vibration, slide the screen lock switch on and off repeatedly while continuing to hold the Volume up button.
-As soon as the Erasing Userdata... message appears in the upper left corner of the screen, release the Volume up button and stop sliding the screen lock switch. You should then also see the Erasing Cache... message below that as proof that your device is being wiped.
Many thanks

HOOOPLAA!!!! :highfive: thanks alot that worked perfectly! my tab is back to 3.2.1. Thanks alot!!
I have unlocked my bootloader then install the recovery.
And I am flashing a ROM ,but as I came from Atrix the step was to flash from recovery
I didn't read the instruction and flash the ROM through recovery without flashing boot.img first
Now, I can't boot to my ROM (It stuck at HTC quietly brilliant screen)
So, I reboot it and try to enter fastboot ,but not either. I can't get to fastboot. pressing volume down and power
Then, I was unable to turn it off. I disassemble and take the battery out. and charge it for an hour now. But, still no luck can't get to fastboot.
Anyone can help me.
I am so dumb if I have read the instruction, I wouldn't brick.
I don't know what pure doing wrong, but holding down power and volume down will get you to hboot. From there you can go to fastboot and then flash the boot.img.
Not even hboot too. press volume - and power doesn't do anything for me. or do they need more battery?
Then you're doing it wrong or your buttons are broken.
Keep hold of volume even after it reboots. Don't let go until you're in hboot.
When I first installed custom ROM I made the same mistake and didn't flash boot.img separately, causing the device to just hang at HTC screen you described, or being in a constant bootloop. However I was able to get into bootloader and sort things out. I know it's something basic, but are you making sure you hold that volume down + power button long enough?
Oh GOD! I got it! It boot into hboot and I can fastboot now. I think the button are hard to press so, I can't press it correctly the first time. THANKS
Hello everyone! So I've had my phone (HTC One M8) rooted and custom recovery and rom installed for a little while now. The latest rom I've installed was Android Revolution HD 22.1. I also have twrp 2.8.1.0 installed. The other day my phone got wet and started to constantly reboot itself, wouldn't shut off and stay off, would never actually start. I put it in a cup of rice for 2 days, then proceeded to plug it in to charge it. Once charged enough I tried to turn it on. It only made it the HTC One logo screen and would vibrate every 10 seconds or so. I tried rebooting several times and no matter what I did with different button combinations I could not get it to load into bootloader. Eventually with restarting different ways and "mechanically stressing" the phone (short temper lol) I managed to get it to loading into the rom itself. From there I opened hasoons all in one toolkit to reboot directly into recovery and recovered to the stock rom. So the phone will now reboot with no problem into this rom. I haven't tried reflashing the ARHD 22.1 rom again because im afraid it'll break again. However, while in the stock rom everything work fines except for the volume up button which does nothing, except for while the screen is off, if I turn my phone to landscape the camera app will open without me even pressing the volume up button. If I reboot into bootloader via the quickboot app or hasoons toolkit, my volume down button with make the cursor go up, the volume up button does nothing, and the power button does nothing. The only thing I can do in bootloader is to hold power+volume up to get the phone to reboot. I also cannot get bootloader to load by holding volume down+power. So, After all that explaining, my main question would be, do you think that the buttons are shorting in a weird way because of water damage, or do you think my software got corrupted because of all the rebooting it did? Any help is appreciated, thanks!
-Tim
(PS: I posted this in XDA assist originally but figured it would be better being posted here.)
UPDATE: my power button will now lock my phone but not unlock it.
I took my phone in for a cracked screen and when I got it home I found out the volume up was not working. So I booted into recovery thinking I could check in recovery to see if it was a software or hardware issue, but the volume up did not work there. So I rebooted and now my GPE edition rom is stuck at the spinning dots. When I go back to the bootloader I cannot select recovery. My volume down button make the selection go up, my volume up button does not work and for some reason even though I can reboot with the power button, I cannot select with it. Is there any other tricks to wipe and reinstall?
ADB does not return a device list.

I had the exact same problem, but opposite. Vol down didn't work. Bootloader problems were the same.
Your issue is that you vol up is stuck.
The way i fixed it was to pull off the volume rocker and put it back on my own. I DO NOT suggest you do this.
When you took it for repairs, the reassembled it incorrectly. Take it back and have them fix it.
Hi
Could some one tell me why i cant get in recovery or factory mode with hardware buttons, i am on stock 10d with twrp recovery installed and rooted wirh super su through twrp. I installed twrp through adb with normal command and device works just fine through reboot apps from os, boots in recovery, fastboot etc just fine, same through adb commands.
But there's no hardware combo or anyrhing working when trying to enter recovery or factory reset working at all?
Tryied every combo i could find saying how to from internet.
It just boot up in os as usual.
And phone dosen't reset while holding power button for 10s + either
It's a bit scary because bootloop is going to come eventually for sure and then there's no rescuing avalible
Could someone plz tell me whats going on?
Im new to g4 so, some help would be nice.
Thanks in advace
It's a bit tricky, to be honest.
• Power off your phone
• Hold "Volume-Down" and keep your "Power-Button" pressed. So you should keep both pressed, until the 1st LG logo appears
• Now just leave the "Power-Button" for ~1 second whilst kept the "Volume-Down" button still pressed, press now the "Power-Button" again and keep holding it
You're now forced to deal with the standard-ui from LG. Go to "Yes" and again "Yes". TWRP now boots and you should be fine .
Edit: Just my tiny story... I watched several videos and also had a nasty bootloop. I was afraid, I now bricked my phone. But a nice user showed me this way and this was the only way, I got my phone recovered.
