what I need is to change the radio, I think that's the problem. here's why: THROUGH the "RF_NV_Manager" program could add GSM GSM bands and place it on the radio but as is for CDMA does not start, so I come to the conclusion that I need to change radio, which is currently 1.47.40.0224.
if anyone has any unlocked GSM radio that could give me please
and for which I could generate them need to unlock SIM files or S-OFF with my Box Xtc2 clip.

IHave an idea but not sure if it would work or not. Also a warning..it could brick your phone possibly.
Since you have s-off, you could change model id, set super cid and then flash ruu of the model of htc 816 that supports gsm or gsm and cdma. See if it works. If you have a tool that lets you back up efs, non volatile memory data then please do back it up. Does xtc2clip support that and also repairing imei/meid in case it gets messed up? Good luck if you decide to give it a go.
I also have been trying to enable gsm and LTE on this phone but no luck so far. Htc seems to have put in special efforts to lock down gsm and therefore enabling the bands alone doesn't work. I don't have s-off so I can't experiment much.

I have another idea that's not risky. Just change the model id to the 816 model that supports gsm or gsm and cdma. Then get the build.prop file for that model and use it instead of your current file. Try it and share the results.
Our phone has a place for second sim too. I'm not sure if SIM tray is there or not but if we could convert this phone to a cdma+gsm model, it would be great.

thanks for your idea, I am looking for a RUU for this model in its unlocked version but HTC page only meeting the sprint, if someone could give me some link please.

Sprint has not unlocked gsm capability of this phone and therefore you won't find ruu that has gsm unlocked on htc site.

So what will we do to unlock it

[Q] Can anybody suggest me how to unlock HTC 816d for Reliance CDMA

Recently I have purchased HTC 816 from China i.e (816d)which is dual sim variant cdma + gsm .
But I am not able to use Reliance or any other sim in its first slot which is for cdma when I insert sim it shows no network. But on second slot I am able to use my GSM Sim.
I have researched a lot on this and I find that its locked to China Telecom in China so I can't use it without some modifications in system.
Can any one suggest me how to make it work with all CDMA Operators in India .
Is there any tool for that like QPST, CDMA Workshop , I can do entire process if somebody help me in this .
Please help me.

If reliance is CDMA you could possibly flash it to the carrier with the MEID/ESN. open sesame door works still for that part but no IMEI until S-OFF.
If reliance doesn't use HA/AAA keys on the device and has their own HA/AAA password (e.g. "reliance" for example.) Then you can get 3G data on the first slot and use GSM on the second.
Like flashing the S3 to MetroPCS but its now Reliance lol.

Well. You would basically need a phone that's already on Reliance and active.
Then you would write down the MEID/ESN and HA / AAA keys after viewing it with some tool like dfstool or qpst or CDMA workshop.
Then use qpst for the open sesame door method for HTC devices to allow write.
Then you would destroy the phone that you copied the info from since you can't have two phones with the same MEID / ESN / IMEI active otherwise the company will completely block that donor from ever working even with transferred info.
Then you would put that info on the Desire.
Then OTA program the device with a profile and prl update and that's it really.
I can't go into depth but there are guides to flash the Sprint S3 to MetroPCS.
Same thing, except your using a Desire 816 and flashing to Reliance.
If you were already knowledgeable you would know that the info I've given is more than enough of a base to work with.

Hi, I have the exact same phone and I went crazy looking for a solution... But all that searching paid off (after months) and I was able to unlock my chinese 816d and I'm using Reliance CDMA on 3g in mumbai.
All you need to do is install ADB on your computer and root your 816D if it is not already rooted. Your need to 1) turn on USB Debugging on your phone 2) open command prompt from ADB and run the following command!
Code:
adb shell
su
setprop persist.radio.simlock.enable 0
reboot
Thats it! :highfive: you're home free.
(If you dont know about ADB or rooting - there are tons of tutorials out there that do a better job explaining it than I can ever dream to do!)
I can't and don't take any credit for these instructions... I found them a long time ago, and it was for a different HTC model - can't really remember the source *sorry*
Hope this works for you! Best of luck :good:
Hi, Could you tell me if I can follow the same process for an HTC desire 816 Virgin Mobile career?

[Q] Help- One M8 not installing from Google store

I bought an HTC One M8 factory unlocked from Never MSRP. Most of the apps I try to install on the phone gives me an error " This item cannot be installed in your device's country". I am not even able to install whatsApp unless I use an apk from outside of the Google Store.
If I use any other android phone, I am able to install all of the apps that would not install on the HTC. I contacted HTC and they said it is because the phone was manufactured in Thailand.
Can anyone help please?

Return it for one thats compatible with your country.
OR
S-Off and chance the CID to your country / carrier device then install the proper RUU to match it.
But make sure your device is not a CDMA version going to GSM or visa versa. That wont work.

3g and 4g do not apply to this. Thats just a term used to tell what generation of telco equipment is installed.
Is it CDMA or GSM?
Im in the USA, SO TMOBILE and AT&T use GSM, while Verizon and Sprint use CDMA.
ALL of them also use LTE, but the chipset in the phone is different based on CDMA or GSM.
Flashing a GSM chipeset to a CDMA phone can brick it.

[Q] M8 DUAL SIM no LTE

Hi,
I have an international (EMEA, model 0P6B640) HTC One M8 Dual Sim which runs on Lollipop, and is unlocked (bought from a shop, no network/carrier). I just moved back to the USA, to find that the 4G-LTE does not work as this phone does not have bands 2, 4, or 17 unlocked. I wish to unlock them so that I can get a T Mobile or ATT sim card.
I know from reading these boards (thanks guys!) that this should be possible as it is a software issue, and that there is a list of things I need to do like root, S-off, super cim, and then flash the appropriate rom. I can follow clear, explicit instructions just fine, but am not very phone-savvy, and have no idea where to find the files I need or exactly how to do these things.
If anyone could help me out with what I need to do and the order to do it in, I would really appreciate it.

Updating att branded phone t-mobile

I have an s-offed att branded phone on t-mobile. It's running an old ruu t-mobile. I just downloaded an update to lollipop. I can just run the update?
Possibly...
you need to check a few things... what's your phone's cid set to? (you can see this in your boot loader screen).
As a general rule, I've found that if I run t-mobile radio's I have more problems than if I run either a native AT&T or the DEV edition radio and then t-mobile firmware on-top of that radio... my phone doesn't seem to do some of the hspa bands from t-mobile...
check your cid, before you do much of anything else...
If he's running a tmo ruu, i would assume he's running super cid.
I would also have to assume that he's changed the mid to tmo?
scifan, have you considered using DFS to set your bands?

What is the mid and DFS?
I have a Verizon branded m8 and am using a t-mobile mvno
(straight talk) SIM. I am considering changing RoMs from viper one to one off if the t-mobile thread in order to solve this problem of random service disconnections. Should I switch to a different Ruu? Should I have changed the RUU when I was on stock?
I apologize if the this should be on another or is own thread.
Thanks so much!

DO NOT, repeat DO NOT try to "convert" your Verizon M8 to T-Mob (with T-Mob RUU). The partitioning (possibly hardware) is different. The T-Mob RUU won't work, and may result in a permanent radio brick.
I'm not sure what is causing the service disconnects. Does the issue occur if you only use 2G and 3G? You may consider looking at enabling the proper LTE bands used by T-Mobile. From what I see, the Verizon M8 supports the proper bands that T-Mob uses for 2G and 3G. However, the VZN version only supports one of the two LTE bands (Band 4) used by T-Mob (Bands 4 and 17). Enabling LTE band 17 may or may not help. The missing support for LTE Band 17 may be related to your disconnect issues, but that's just a theory.
The hitch here, is that trying to enable LTE Band 17 requires s-off, which costs $25 by sunshine app (if you are not already s-off). And its not a sure solution, so may be money wasted.
You can take a look at the following threads, on how to enable bands on the Verizon M8. But I don't personally vouch for these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/how-to-convert-cdma-m8-sprint-vzw-gsm-t3303812
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/unlock-bands-qualcomm-device-phone-t2880239
Awesome thanks. I paid the 25 dollars for s-off already to root the phone. Sunshine works like a charm.
I'll check out the links you provided. I have a feeling your theory is correct. You described how I felt the problem was but lacked the knowledge to produce words to describe. Thanks again.
I don't know whether this is the right thread to ask this question but if you do know kindly advise me; i recently bought a T-mobile M8 which was imported from USA and had sim unlocked but i don't know other details except that its not rooted (that i checked with supersu). May be it was imported as scrap since it's an old model and may be it was unlocked from t-mobile, i just have no idea. Now the phone is asking me for a few updates which describe to tell me that these are intended to prepare phone for marshmallow update (currently it's on jellybean). Should i allow update to progress or not? i don't want to loose sim unlock.

HTC 10 Unlocked, Used Sunshine for Verizon, Changed CID/MID, Process back 2 Unlocked?

Hey all...
I used sunshine to unlock and s-off immediately after purchase of my Unlocked HTC 10 and changed the CID/MID to make it a Verizon phone and flash ViperRom.
Now that I'm traveling for work I need to change the phone back to Unlocked to use the LTE bands in another country (buying a SIM card in Japan), and also for it to to work back on VZN when I return.
I'd really appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction of the steps I need to take to perform this? Hoping I only need to change/flash a couple things to pop in a new SIM in Japan and pop back in the VZN SIM when I'm back.
Thanks all! Hopefully this could be useful for someone else in my situation. I'd venture to guess it's somewhat common...

I've used my VZW 10 in Japan with a local data sim card without issues. Check the operator you're interested in over there and make sure your VZW 10 covers those bands. Else choose a different operator. Also your network settings need to be set to Global instead of CDMA, if I remember correctly.
With that said if you still want to convert back to Unlocked to be safe, just change your CID to Unlocked (or even superCID) and run an unlocked ruu from htc.com. This will wipe your phone so back everything up. Then once you're back home, do the reverse using one of the no-wipe ruus on xda. I would have thought you'd be comfortable with this already since you've done it once before. Am I misreading your question?
One piece of advice, if you chose a data-only simcard there from the provider Docomo (largest one in Japan I think) or one of their subtiers, you will likely have battery drain issues due to your phone constantly looking for a cell/voice call connection with the towers. There is a fix for it but only if you have Xposed installed.

Fantastic info, I appreciate it. I was looking at b-mobile (http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/index.html) because it would fit what I need (5GB/21 days/$30) but noticed the bands for them aren't supported by the VZW 10.

I bought it from some stand at Narita airport called Telecomsquare. I just shopped around the many stands until I found a package I liked and which worked. Oddly enough the shop specifically said they don't support HTC phones, because of bands I think, but I still went with it and it worked.
Yes if your device is originally U.S Unlocked then changing your cid and mid back to unlocked and flashing ruu will work. You may need to wipe your radios after flashing the ruu as well to get rid of any Verizon radio settings.
Mobile hotspot is probably the simplest option if you're willing to pay for it. No need to fiddle around activating a sim card in a foreign airport
