I have htc one m8. My camera app showing only selfie and photobooth mode. No other mode available. I have done hard reset and also run it safe mode but issue was not fixed. Anybody help me. Is it hardware issue or software. Tell me if anybody find a fix.
Hi,
yesterday the same thing happened to me. Only selfie mode and the photobooth mode. I tried erasing the camera app cache, uninstalled camera updates, re-installed it, rebooted, used a different app to take pics.. no luck.. I have no lastpass app on my phone, so none of those issues with that app apply on me.. the camera won't crash, but only works in selfie mode. and the only one option that can be installed is the photobooth mode.
any thoughts?

Hello everyone!
Last week I updated my Desire 816 to software version 1.60.401.1, and suddently camera (both cameras, the front facing one and rear facing one) stopped working.
The system camera app simply goes black just as opened, third part apps stuck as soon as got to the camera function (e.g. Instagram).
I tried clearing the system camera app cache and data, but this does not solve anything. What should I do now?
If that's an hardware issue, it is so strange it came just after the update!
Ok, problem solved. I performed a software reset as described in the user manual (long press on power button, choose reset, click on yes).
I asked the phone owner if she had done it, she said yes, but actually she hadn't: she had just switched it off and on again.
Sorry
[Q] [HELP] Getting "warning:Camera Failed" error popup when camera app is opened!
I keep getting this when I try to open my camera or any other third party camera application .
i tried clearing the cache , factory reset, hard reset and also removed Sd card n tried, still nothing.
But i am able to use the front camera on snapchat or on a hangout video call alone. If i tried to switch cameras ,they would just crash.
A fix would be really helpful!!
PS:
i bought the phone elsewhere and cant return it or exchange it

Hi all,
My camera app freezes each time I open it, i tried safe reboot, restart, reboot and factory reset.
The only solution was after the factory reset the app worked again for 1 day.
Any ideas?
Mine has the same problem, but factory reset didn't help it. I'm on stock marshmallow
Solution to camera lag:
After multiple factory resets and reinstalls I found out the solution.
The camera lag is caused by HTC Speak app update.
I don't know what link this has with the camera but number of people have reported it
So in order to fix this perform the following steps:
1-uninstall HTC Speak Update
2-force close camera app
3-restart the device
These steps worked for me.
Camera is working fine now and maybe a even snappier.

Yep camera is working like a charm the problem is with the HTC Speak app. Thx
After many factory resets and tests, I have concluded too that the HTC Speak app is the problem. Last night I gave the phone the final reset, and set it up with my normal accounts and apps, with the goal to cancel HTC Speak at the end. The problem is that now, the camera is lagging and I cannot find the HTC Speak app to uninstall it (not even in system apps). I cannot find it even in the playstore to uninstall it. Any ideas?
Factory reset or use ESFile manager to manually remove HTC Speak
A new update was released today for HTC Speak, seems to work ok now
For a few days, I get error "Unable to start the camera" when I tap on the camera app.
I already test,
other camera app (e.g B612)
I clear data, clear cache, disable, force stop
reboot in safe mode and test camera
*#*#3424#*#* HTC function test, no option to test camera.
when I open flash light app, it always show loading
go to recovery and wipe cache
make factory reset
Always show unable to start camera
So how should I do.
I'm from Myanmar (Burma). I order it from US store over 9 months
Our HTC Myanmar Center can't do for this error. They never face this problem and HTC10 not import to our country.
My software no is 2.51.617.11
Is this software or hardware error??
Please reply for my error,
Request you all.
Try this: go to the play store and install this flashlight app. Run the app. Does the flashlight work? Now try your camera again.

This was an experiment that shows the flash mechanism of the camera is not working properly. To get your camera to work you will have to downgrade your firmware to 1.9.xxx.xx and use a Marshmallow rom. The easiest way to do this is to find an ruu.exe with that firmware series and install that on your phone.

Correct.
I have the same problem. Yesterday I received the 2.51.617.11 update on my HTC 10 from T-Mobile, and the camera and light wouldn't work immediately after.
