Boot loop, Frozen in TWRP, 1% battery - HTC Desire Eye

Installed:
[ROM] InsertCoin EYE 1.1.5
TWRP-2.8.7.0_DesireEYE.img
Was working perfect until the battery died suddenly.
Plugged it into charge and it brought up the normal charging screen and I held power to boot the phone.
Booted into TWRP and I can not interact with anything.
If I lock within recovery it just freezes on unlock
Can someone help me get to fastboot so I can flash V2 of TWRP 2.8.7.0?

[Q] Nexus AOKP flash

Hi all,
New to forums and to android in general. Wanted to ask a quick question about flashing through CWM. I am on a Galaxy Nexus, running 4.0.1 (ITL41F), on Telus, in Canada.
I used the Gnex toolkit for root/cwm flash. Initially I had tried 5.4 but I couldnt get into recovery mode; the device would briefly show the (unlocked) google screen, and then hang at what I can only assume is an android error screen (android on its back, front panel open with red arrow pointing up?) before rebooting. After that initial CWM install and recovery mode issue, I was experiencing some random restarts and some freezes on my unlock screen. I resolved to try Gnex 5.5, installing that version of CWM and it allowed a problem free boot into recovery.
I have since flashed AOKP (Milestone 3/Maguro) and the install was smooth. However, after rebooting out of recovery mode my device is hanging on the team kang boot logo screen. It's still animated and I assume the first boot after an install will take a considerable amount of time for configuration/etc....but its been about 25min.
My question, then, is should I wait longer? Or does this length of time indicate a problem with the install?
Thank you in advance for any help.
Go back into cwr and wipe all data, wipe cache and advanced - wipe dalvic. Then reboot

Should I be pulling battery to boot? or will holding power turn it off without causing issues from this boot screen?
Hi and welcome

That is no error screen but the stock recovery screen. If you push vol up + vol down +power button again you see the options of stock recovery.

25 minutes is way to long. Dit you wipe data cache and dalvic cache before flashing the AOKP ROM?

None of the above. Scroll through the options with your volume buttons and choose the right one with the power button (in recovery that is)
Sorry, I wasn't particularly clear about my current status.
The device is currently hanging at the team kang loading screen with the animated logo. In order to get into fastboot/recovery I will need to shut down. Is this best accomplished by pulling the battery at this point?
Thanks for the quick responses!

Try holding the power button for a few secs. If that doesn't work: yeah... a battery pull will do the trick

TWRP Button combination to boot recovery?

I cannot find where the button combination is to reboot the phone into recovery for TWRP. I have looked on the site and through several posts on the thread on the forum, and cannot find the button combination. Help would be appreciated to get through this very irritating problem (Im in a boot loop atm)
So it's not only a device-based riddle, but a qte one as well lol

When phone is completely turned off. Press and hold Vol Up + Power, this will get you into fastboot. Once here, press down twice, then press power.
You will now be in TWRP

I tried that for about 15 mins, and it didn't work. I then tried pressing down 3X instead of 2, and that got me into TWRP recovery. Just to make sure, I got out of recovery and rebooted. Once it started bootlooping again, I tried 2X, didn't work. Went through the procedure but down 3X again, all is well. Using version 2.5.0.0.

It should be 2x, only thing I can think of is if you are pressing the dwn button fast and it's not registering one of them. I know I have done that in the past.
GL!
You have to hold both volume up and down while powering up
Then when you get to fastboot press volume down twice and power

Holding both volumes in is for getting you into download mode, if you are looking to get into recovery from power off it's Vol Up + Power > Vol
Down 2x > Power.
I am currently looping at the LG loading screen. When I hold down up + power it doesn't put me into recovery mode. After a few moments it just turns the phone off. Anyone have any idea of what I can do now??
Volume up and power to fastboot screen, then volume down twice then power

Try holding volume down and power. If it takes you to stock (aosp style) recovery then you need to unlock with freegee

AFschizoid I can't thank you enough for all the help you have been. I think I really did it this time though. Neither up or down brings me anywhere. The phone turns on, shows the LG logo and then after a bit the screen goes off. This happens if I do up, down, or both.
Hold the power button for LITERALLY like 2 minutes straight to let any residual power drain out after turning off. Then go ahead and hold vol down first and then press and hold power at the same time. If that doesn't bring you to stock recovery, repeat the power off then try with vol up. If that doesn't work, again, turn off and hold power button for a couple minutes to discharge then hold both volume buttons and plug in to your computer to see if download mode comes up

Thank you AFschizoid, trying it now. Will post results when im done.

Yup.....I really F-ed up this time. Tried it all three ways and no change... The odd thing is that I have had my ROM for two days and have been able to get into recovery before. I haven't made any changes. Lost signal earlier today and rebooted my phone to see if it would fix it, now it wont even start.
[EDIT] I think I know what did it. I tried to recover using FreeGee earlier when we were discussing the EFS. It failed but it probably messed up my unlock
So you can't even get download mode? Jeez. I don't know then lol

Think Sprint would fall for the new ZVC update bricked my phone?
Yeah if there was a bad flash of the SBL stack then you're sol. Download mode is in the SBL stack so if that didn't flash right then it's probably hard bricked

Thank you very much AFschizoid you have been a godsend!
Well... i found this in the teenybins thread... try it
For most soft bricks you will see a LG or Google logo and then a black screen. You can also still get into download mode. If you think download mode may not even work, connect phone to a Windows computer and check device manager... if the phone is detected in a "QHSUSB-DLOAD" then there's a good chance you're perm bricked. Otherwise.. you may just be a n00b and aren't doing download mode correctly.
Well the phone is detected but it just shows as a USB Composite Device. So if it is not hard bricked then maybe it just wont actually shut off. Maybe the screen is just blacking out and when I try the power button again it wakes it up. I can't imagine that I am holding the vol down and power button incorrectly. Only so many ways to do it Thank you for the find!
Are you leaving it plugged in when trying to turn it off? Because that won't work, it will keep booting into 'charge mode' so Unplug it, and retry everything

Both volume keys (+&-) and power at same time .. As soon the device turn off leave the keys .
Download any custom rom or stock rom twrp flashable zip , flash via twrp .

Following this advice literally will likely get the OP stuck at the same point (HTC logo screen).
After holding vol up + power (as suggested) for a minute or so will force a reboot. Once the screen goes dark to reboot (but before the HTC logo screen appears) let go of the buttons, and only hold vol down. Don't let go until the bootloader screen appears. From there, you can go to recovery.

This was only an "accident" in that you were somewhat careless and hasty in your actions.
It still astounds me that a good number of folks decide its a good idea to go into the TWRP "Advanced" wipe options (and its called that for a good reason) intentionally ignoring the statement that the default wipe "Most of the time this is the only wipe that you need"; and then proceed to select partitions to wipe, without properly understanding what the result will be, or how to recover.
Further, once you have TWRP on the device, the first thing you should do is make a backup in TWRP of the stock setup. Regardless of whether you are rooting, installing a custom ROM, or otherwise messing around in TWRP, you should always make a backup before doing any of those things.
That way, if anything goes wrong, getting up and running is as easy as restoring your backup in the TWRP Restore option.

Never needed that combination on my m8 . i thought it was for force shutdown if you leave the keys as soon as the screen goes off ... If still pressed then will result in restart. I am not sure though as i have never tried.

Its a forced reboot every time. I don't think there is a way to force it only to shut down (without immediately rebooting).
I just tried it, holding down power+ vol up, and letting go immediately after the screen turned off; and it just rebooted.
Solved, thank you for your time.

Nexus doesn't boot

I'm using pure nexus rom for a while now and didn't give any kind of problem. Was casually using whatsapp on phone and battery was around 50%, phone suddenly started to vibrate. It vibrated for around 10 secs and it finally got shutdown. Now, It doesn't power on. I can enter into bootloader by holding vol down + power button for several seconds (than what it usually takes), but after entering bootloader, it doesn't go into recovery or start the phone. restart bootloader function is restarting bootloader normally but boot into recovery and power on doesn't work. Google logo appears for few seconds and again powers down. Please help! Thanks in advance!!

Fastboot and flash it? It's encrypted. I don't wanna loose my data. But will consider if nothing else works.
i have same shi* trying to flash recovery via fastboot and see if it loads....
@cbhhargava: if fastboot connects, you can erase both of the caches and fladh PureNexus.zip. Without erasing /data. Fastboot-syntax.
didn't work... tryinf to flash stock image via fastboot...
didn't helped either... used Nexus Root Toolkit to flash stock image - still no change. blackscreen after Google boot screen, i'm starting to think it's hard bricked either soft bricked....
then there's the oven-procedure (it's described here often): if it boots after heating, you can save your data and let replace mainboard.
Same issue

Honor pro 8 factory reset stuck at 99%

Hi,
I had rooted my honor pro 8 one week back, had to reinstall custom ROM. I got some error in TWRP. Through Multi tool I had to relock boot loader and again unlock boot loader. After unlocking the boot loader, it asked for factory reset . I did that, but it is stuck at 99%. If I press power button and restart it again starts from 1% and gets hanged at 99% as Factory low level reset. I am not able to even access to fastboot as it keeps looping back to same screen. I have tried update.app with SD card as well. But Vol +, Vol - and power buttons are not working, it goes back to same screen of reset.
Can anyone please help...
Update from SD always works. Ensure USB C is not connected to anything before pressing vol+and vol-
