New FireOS 4.6.4 Only for AT&T Fire Phones. Newer than 4.6.3 for Unlocked Fire Phone
I thought that you would like to know that apparently there is a newer FireOS v4.6.4, but only for the AT&T Fire Phone!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201607550
Curiously this AT&T Firmware is newer than the v4.6.3, that we all have received last week on our Unlocked-GSM Fire Phones.
Fire OS 4.6.4 computer:Fire phone (AT&T):
http://fire-phone-updates.s3.amazon...update-fire-phone-32.4.6.4_user_464000220.bin
Does anyone here knows what's new in this latest FireOS 4.6.4 Firmware update?
I let it inadvertently install. There' s nothing new I can see. I'm sure it must have patched stagefright. I'm trying to figure out it its safe to downgrade via ADB sideload of .6.1 so I can install safestrap.
Anybody figure out which combination of Google Services/Play work with this new 4.6.4? It killed what I had working...

Nah , its not working , the Google play store installs and starts but it will updated the Google services and then everything goes to crap.
I just got my Fire Phone today and it automatically updated to 4.6.4. I was getting a connection error so I uninstalled everything and reinstalled using 7.0.99 and I got it to work. I would try that

So you install only the Play Store from older version or all the supporting apk's ?

There doesn't seem to be a way to disable Google Play Services from automatically updating without rooting your fire phone.
Did the 7.0.99 install for my fire phone with the 4.6.4 update. Now, at least once a day, I have to uninstall Google Play Services because it keeps automatically updating, then reinstall with version 7.0.99, as well as force-close Google Play Store in the process. To make things more annoying, Google Play Services doesn't give you the option to disable updates so easily.
Has anyone found a workaround to this, preferably without having to root your fire phone?

You need to downgrade to 4.6.3. After that the Play Service update works after auto updating.

Hey guys, total Noob here and i just got my phone yesterday. I've been searching all over and i can't figure out how to downgrade to 4.6.3? tried factory reset but it didnt work.
I finally got the Play store to work after Play services updated to 7.8.99. Before I was uninstalling play store only every time I wanted to download a new app. It's been 24 hours plus and still working. Yes I have Fire OS on unlocked ATT 4.6.4

Is it still working for you?
So is having os 4.6.4 ok to have for google play side loading or should I downgrade to 4.6.3? And what's the best way to downgrade I can't find anything?
When you guys talk about google apps, will google maps and navigation work too? (on att branded fire phone). Can one of you pl check?
Yes, they work.
Play Store is acting fruity again, I've had to reload it a couple of times since I last posted. I can't say I've had any luck getting Google Maps to work (yet), but the stock maps works enough for me. I did get WAZE to run on it though.

Flash this file with SafeStrap https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347783512
That's 4.6.3
Use the formula from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/development/rom-cm-11-20150706-unofficial-t3151443, to flash CM11 but replace CM11 zip with the one in the link above.
I think this is correct.
Can someone else confirm? I'm new to this as well.
If it works, please thank me.
If it doesn't. Not my fault...

Also, install xposed framework and HDXposed to prevent update. Mine stayed on 4.6.3 without it but I added it just in case.
Does anyone have gapps working on the Fire TV 2? I know the Playstore doesn't work on non-rooted Fire TV but I have some apps that require the Playstore to run. If someone has it working, which version of gapps are you using?
thanks,
searched for answer but didn't find anything regarding Fire TV 2
From what I've tried doing was install Xposed, but it won't update, and then install a module for Xposed which won't work unless you update Xposed.

Once I release recovery, I'm sure someone will write a guide to install gapps. I can confirm that google play services seem to function and the play store at least launches. I didn't have a keyboard plugged in, so I couldn't log in, but I'm sure it works. The one tricky part is actually starting the Play Store. It doesn't show up in the regular Amazon menu and going to the "Installed Apps" list in the settings wouldn't let me launch it. Had to use FireStarter and enable system apps for it to show up.

ok cool.. so I then dont worry about updating xposed and look for firestarter and see if it launches then from the installed apps menu, What about using a self powered usb hub plugged in and connect a usb mouse and keyboard. Would that do the trick? I would try now but off to work soon.
Installed latest version of firestarter and tried to launch from there. Same thing.. goes to the play store and i see name in top left corner and in center of
screen no connection / retry. .. should i uninstall the playstore and services, accounts, and reinstall? You said enable system apps in firestarter also.. I dont seem to see that.
Play store won't be able to connect until we can use the HDXposed module which will patch the content provider and download manager that blocks the play store (hopefully this still works on the FTV2).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618158
This requires Xposed working and to install Xposed we need the recovery rbox is working on. Hopefully we can try this out soon. Sideloaded apps should be able to authenticate with the play service even without HDXposed..
I installed recovery yesterday and updated to rbox's pre-rooted 5.0.4r2. I was trying to get Play Store working and totally forgot to stop updates.
Can anybody tell me if I'm able to down grade to a rootable image or if 5.0.5 can be rooted? I've noticed that the android.zip file the was in this guide is now missing. I'm a little bit stuck now.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running a Google Store Pixel XL, unlocked, rooted, stock on May 2017 security update (thanks to using Chainfire's VerifiedBootSigner.zip). I just checked on Google Play and it says that Netflix is incompatible with my Google Pixel XL. I do, however, already have Netflix installed on my phone and it appears to launch and run just fine.
(I'm at work and haven't tested the actual playing of content.) But, I suspect that I won't receive any updates to the Netflix app based on my phone being tagged as incompatible. I do not know if this is a new condition or brought about by the May 2017 update. I did not check this on April or earlier updates. Although, upon initial release, I was obviously able to install Netflix on this phone.

If you already have Netflix installed on your phone, how are you seeing that it's incompatible on the Play Store? I have Netflix installed on my phone, just checked it on the Play Store, and it says, "Your device already has this item installed".

When using the Google Play app on my Pixel XL, I am unable to even find the Netflix app. It is not showing on my list of installed apps nor can I successfully search for it and find it within the Google Play App. However, I have the actual Netflix app installed on my phone (despite what Google Play app indicates) and I can launch it and actually play content.
If I access Google Play via the web from my Windows device, that is where I can find Netflix and see the indication that it is not compatible with my Pixel XL. (even though it is actually installed)
Thanks,
S

Thats basically exactly what I'm experiencing. It doesn't show up even when I search on play store. I downloaded Netflix from APK mirror and its fine. Play store still doesn't recognize it.
Wow true. Wouldn't have noticed. Lucky it's already installed
I noticed this last night when restoring, at this moment I am purely stock and using google search to find the play store link returns "Item not found" in the play store.
Stock os, unlocked bootloader, not rooted, Verizon pixel XL
I have a Verizon pixel XL with unlocked bootloader, not rooted, and just did may ota. Netflix app was previously installed on the phone and working fine. After update the app would open but not connect. Not even showing as installed on my phone in play store or if I searched for the app in play store. Uninstalled, downloaded from APK mirror and it works just fine.
Looks like Netflix is blocking rooted or unblocked devices!

Netflix working fine here but I did have it previously installed. Vzw Pixel, stock, rooted, and May bootloader.
you can log into netflix and watch no issue, but you are no longer able to download from play store if your device has the bootloader unlocked OR you are rooted.

you can use the application with no issue, you will no longer receive updates through the play store for this app tho. You can even download the .apk directly from netflix, you just wont be able to see it when searching the play store from your rooted device(assuming it's supersu and not magisk, magisk still works)
It looks to me like apps are starting to look for root permissions and if they find you are rooted, they won't work. So far I have seen SnapChat, DirecTV Now, and now Netflix. (See a trend here?) I think this is going to start becoming the trend of things in the future.
You guys can also just use APK mirror to find it or any other APK that doesn't show up for you or is "incompatible" for your device. Mods or warez type files. All signed apks sorted by version
@pcriz - The Directv now app still requests root access from apk mirror and if you install snapchat before rooting, it will work afterwards. I started looking into root access on a per app basis, because I really only use 2 or 3 apps that need root, instead of overall root and denying access, but I haven't gotten anywhere with it. Of course there is also Chainfire's project to hide root, but I haven't had a lot of success with that so far either. At least the last time I tried it on my HTC10.

Unlocked bootloader, not rooted. I used to be able to update Netflix on Google Play Store this way by checking for app updates, but seems like that's gone. I've tried clearing Play Store and Play Services cache/data, but no luck.
Do I have to sideload the app from now on? And if so, where's a reliable (ie: not full of malware) source for the Netflix apk?

Use Yalp Store! It's an app store identical to the play store where you can find and update all them blocked apps
Use apk mirror https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/
I think I might have figured out the issue with Netflix not showing up in the play store. Im also unlocked and couldn't get it to work for the longest time. I think it's twrp that's causing the issue. I decided to go flash the factory image to go back to stock. Instead of using twrp, I used the Canary build of magisk to patch the boot.img from the factory image, then flashed the patched boot.img to achieve root. Netflix showed up doing it this way. So I had stock recovery, was unlocked and rooted with Netflix showing up on play store.
Recovery has nothing to do with it. My P2XL: Android 10, stock, rooted (Magisk 20.0), and TWRP installed. INSTALLED Netflix from the Play Store and updated Netflix from there as well.
After I sideload Netflix on my rooted Pix 2 XL, I am able to get updates via the Playstore.

Which version did you sideload. It was updating for me for a while but I don't think it still is, but the numbering on apkmirror is confusing for netflix jumps from 6.x to 3.x and the 3.x won't install on my pxl2xl

I can confirm that since Magisk 20, Netflix installs and updates fine from the play store. Before that I was using Aurora store.
