Hi guys and ladies. I apologize in advance for my English. I'm new here and I need some help
My phone Sony Xperia Z1C fell in sea. It should be waterproof but since it was in repair shop it isn't.
It's not completely dead, when it's plug on charger it shows that it's being charged and when I try it connect to my PC/laptop Windows beeps that it's connected and in few seconds that is disconnected. I cannot see anything on phone because screen is dead.
I want to recover whatsapp messages, pics and contacts, the rest is irrelevant
PLS help

I guess you could try adb, if you have it on your computer. Have you used adb terminal commands before?

Well, I'm not sure if it will work with the phone very damaged, but I don't know what else to try. I'm pretty sure the phone has to be rooted, and have 'usb debugging' checked. If so...
Start with installing this - https://www.google.com/url?q=http:/...SWWAGo&usg=AFQjCNFMZS_C72TYnLboFWunYSIKwb5Vhg - then open a command prompt on your computer in the directory where the adb files are installed. First type 'adb' and hit enter, to confirm that it is installed and you're in the right directory. You should get a long list of command options. If so, plug in the phone with it turned on, and type 'adb devices', and you should get a number showing that there is a device connected. Then you can use adb shell to pull files.
You'll need drives installed for your phone. If you've used Flashtool or PC Companion, you already have them. If not, there's a few ways to do it...

You could try replacing the screen, some people on here have had success and the cheap ones seem to work ok.

Hi guys,
i wanted flash some new kernel, i have currently Rush kernel. So i opened freshly installed FlashTool (0.90.10.1) with installed drivers from /drivers folder, take out battery and press "menu" and connect cabel....just like million times before. But now the LED just blinked blue and phone bootloops until i pull the cable out. And just the same happens when i want to go into flashmode (green LED) it just blinks and get bootloop. Can someone give me some advise? I am using original SE cable that comes with it.
edit: i am not using USB controller, i am using USB that comes right from motherboard
edit 2: even if i try "reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)" in flashtool, it reboots into CWM...

And what happens when you try an older version or manual fastboot?

hmmm, but now the weird part, when i put the cable, just the cable without phone connected to it, windows told me, that "some of devices was not recognized" and drivers was not installed for unknown device. What the hell does this mean? drivers for cable?! btw: the cable is barely used i flashed with it two Arc S just week ago.

Sounds like a PC issue to me.
nope it was that cable...i donĀ“t get it, but with another one, it just works. I am using sometimes that "non-working" cable for file transfer or charge battery and it works normally. Strange...
I was trying unblocking bootloader. However, when I plugged in my phone, my computer can't detect my driver downloaded.
So I tried several times unplug and plug and eventually I can't turn on my phone.
And now when I connect to my computer, there is just a qhsusb_dload drive appeared.
No idea how to fix this.....
I have the same problem but not same cause, No charge led no start just qhsusb_dload mode, (no enter in flashmode)

Even I had this problem. I searched a lot and couldn't find any proper solution.. Even RaymanFx had this problem - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49244699&postcount=1045
In the end I had to pay $222 for a new motherboard. Be sure to check out this thread too, you might find something useful - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181451&page=5
It appears to be a fault on Sony's part and not the user.. Anway good luck and hope that you guys can recover your phones:good:

Yep, I have the same issue. Its not being detected at all. I've troubleshooted this on linux. No udev events are emitted when the device is plugged in and on. A mass storage device is detected when I switch the device off though. I'm on 5.0.2.
Hi, I had this very problem and found that that you have to switch the watch off then attach the mini us to the watch only, then hold the power button of the watch (don't let go) and eventually the watch screen will come on with an attach usb picture, now plug the main usb end into the PC and it should be recognised by Sony PC companion. I forgot to mention that the PC companion program should be started before plugging it in. Good luck Grant.
hi grant, thxx a lot for your message
i tried that before and no luck :/
Hi,
i have a SM-A705FN/DS bumped in a corner with screen broken and black (doesnt turn on). I need to recover data from it but it doesnt have developer options enabled. My problem isnt black screen of death... its broken at all!
I had spent the entire day searching for posts to enable debbuging options through adb commands but... nothing. Also i tried with odin and one clockmodwork recovery but ever fails.
I can enter the recovery mode and i think that entering the second option (bootloader) i will do something, because my laptop is detecting a "Samsung usb modem" but adb command "adb devices" doesnt show anything.
What can I do?
Thanks in advance. Best regards.

Hi,
my house insurance will repair the screen and they told me that it will be erase. At the moment, I just replaced screen for older mobiles (iphones 4, sony, ...) and never, NEVER, got files lost. But now...
I am trying to find a rom with "usb debugging" enabled in order to connect the phone to my computer with adb commands. I had tried to connect with otg hdmi but nothing is showing up on my tv (my P20Pro is showing perfectly).
What can i do?
Thanks in advance.

Thats a very wiers situation but i have an idea
Have you ever used or setted the link to windows option up?
Cause with that you can start sharing the screen to pc and it just works when u already used that before ur screen broke
Otherwise i have no advice for the adb as i never needed to use adb for recovering my data
Good Luck
Hello, I have the same problem. My screen is blank but hearing notifications on my phone. As phone is under warranty, they might replace the unit and I would want to recover my data.
Also searching on how to enable usb debugging via ADB, but not sure if below (Option 2) will work. Still gonna try it on weekend on my freetime.

i have samsung A70 and for months experiencing black screen of death on and off , rebooting etc, found solution today. removed phone from the magnetic phone case i purchased 10 months ago and phone is working perfect,
Firstly, this sounds like a very noob question and I am sorry, but I have unlocked phones in the past so I should know how to do this, yet I am running into an issue. I am trying to unlock bootloader on this phone, but my phone is not recognized at all by my pc. If I am in Android and I connect my phone I should get the dialog where it asks me if I want to transfer files or charge my phone etc., right? Yet this dialog doesn't appear. If I enable debugging and type 'adb devices' I get 0 devices. If I reboot to bootloader and try 'fastboot devices' I get nothing. Am I missing something obvious here? I tried both Windows and Linux and got the same results, my phone is just invisible. Do you have any advice? I bought the phone today and I am running the latest software V13.0.10.0.SKOEUXM.

Different usb port/cable. Open device manager and see if it reloads when you plug it in, if yes, than you need drivers.

If it doesn't, do I have a bad device?
I tried a different computer and a different cable (the original one is a mess and so is my win11 pc), and it worked. Now I am waiting for 143 hours, wasn't it a week before?
